Battery information - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi all.. for the past the days I have noticed that the battery usage or the battery information tab (eg. Display 30%, Android OS 25%......) in the settings of my motorola razr doesn't add up to 100%.. It varies between 92% and 102%. All I did was root my phone a week back using Motofail and I unrooted it yesterday using Doomslord unroot. Should I factory rest my phone? Please help!!!
Also does anyone know or have you seen this "battery report.apk" file which is also known as "Cool Down Mode"? It is in your phone internal memory. Do you know what it does. Has anyone installed it and checked what it does?
Thanks I advance!!!

seems to be a software hang. Drain battery completly and charge it without start the phone. This may fix the problem. If not, do a factory reset.
Thanks

Try looking through your sync settings, set them as low as possible and be sure to exit your apps with the back button not hitting home
Edit : you could also use better battery stats

I have my sync settings very low as well.. I use juice defender free version!! And I flashed into another build, from Asiaretail03 to PSHAsiaretail and still have the problem!!
How will Better battery Stats help me?? is there a free version of the app?? If not is there any other way?? will it affect my battery life???

I have the paid version of jd, it seems to make things worse for me in terms of battery life on the RAZR, and the lag in the initiation of the cell radio was very annoying. It was great for the og droid though. On another note, freeze all bloat!, and you may have to go through and change the sync settings on each app that uses network sync individually. I'm hesitate to suggest this because there's so many post claiming it's bad for your battery, while I understand the train of thought, I still question the validity of the advice. So do this at your own risk. Since the os is reporting more than or less than 100% battery my guess is that the os's scale is off. The os shuts down your phone well before your battery gets to zero as a fail safe, and stops taking a charge at 100%. When you flash a new rom, or didn't charge the phone fully before you turned it on when new, or any other number of variables, your battery stats get mucked up. The old school way to retrain was turn off and charge for how ever long it takes to know your fully charged (over night), boot into recovery wipe battery stats, unplug boot up and run the phone until it dies, charge to 100 with out turning back on, then use as normal. I dont advise that method, my advice is to run phone until it dies, charge to 100 with out powering up, run phone normally

Ok I don't want to freeze my bloatware... And I completely drained my battery and charged it till 100 without powering up (twice).. But still have the problem...
Let me try the other method but where will I see the recovery wipe battery stats in the boot menu? ?
Thanks a lot for taking your time..

It is in cwm menu under advanced, if you don't have cwm there is a file in the root system, you'll have to research to find its location, (i cant remember where it is), that holds the battery stats, you can delete it and it does basically the same thing. You might could find an app on the market that will find and delete it for you. Just be careful, do it right, you can make it worse.

You should be fine, just let the phone charge to 100% and be sure not to boot up before it gets there, and by no means charge the phone while draining the battery

Have you ever considered something as simple as % rounding error? Seems more likely, currently mine shows 101%.
I was also curious, what in the world compelled you to bother to add up the percentages in the first place? ;-)
Peace!
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA

Just to be totally sure, you're having problems with battery life, its not just that your battery usages are off. The percentages are rounded, but shouldn't be off by more than 10%, if so than its a tell of another problem, also if your a medium- heavy user your screen should be the highest percentage, if its android os or system using a large percentage its normally bloatware in your root file system, if it's media, you need to look at the motocast apps, if its cell stand by, check the time with out signal, if you have a large % with out signal, you should 1st check for the most recent radio, 2nd find out where it is you're getting poor signal and keep your phone in airplane mode in that area if possible, if not only turn off/ on data as you need it, your cell radio seaching for towers will drain your battery quick, also, the reason i suggested better battery stats is it can provide a more detailed breakdown of what is using your battery and identify apps that are keeping your phone frome going into a lower power state with wakelocks

Thanks for the info.. The battery percentage ranges from 92-103%... And my highest battery consumer is the Screen followed by Voice calls and Android OS..
I will try getting better battery stats and check but I don't want to buy the app and experience the same problem..
If the battery life is getting affected will it be because of a faulty battery? can I get a replacement because of this?
And yes thanks a lot for spending your time..

if you made it readable you might get more help
try charging it to 100%, calibrating the battery, letting it die, and then recharge it to 100% without any interruptions.

Difference???
Download the Battery Calibration app from the market and follow its instructions.
Also, go to the battery settings and look up what's eating so much battery.
I've read before that Motoblur Social Networking service can misbehave and slaughter the battery.

If you want help I suggest you provide more information. ie what rom you are running, how long you've had the phone, etc. If it is a brand new phone your battery may just need to be conditioned. Charge it to full, use it to empty, charge to full again and you should be good to go.

Its odd that a new stock phone doesn't run the battery well. in any case, the battery may not be calibrated yet. you can run this program. it will set the calibrate your battery for you. Let your phone drain down to under 15% before you recharge again. And let it fully recharge to 100%, then run it down thru the day to under 15%. After a few cycles like this, the battery will normalize. Then you will get a better idea of the battery life of your phone.

This is what has worked for me every time no matter if stock rooted or any other custom rom..... and I do this switching back and fourth between extended and stock battery..... you must be rooted.... atleast i was.
get the battery monitor widget from the market. In the setting you can change the ma rating of the battery you are using. Once you have done that click on stats in the app and it'll clear battery stats. Reboot phone go into app and clear stats again. That should be it. When I had clokworkmod installed on the reboot id clear battery stats in there as well.
This has worked for me time and time again.

Thats a rogue app causing the high android sys.
+1, I've seen this on 2 handsets.
Using GSam Battery Monitor, then clicking on app usage ->android system -> manage -> clear defaults
The above seems to stop the issue after a reboot. I've not seen it happen again since I did that.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but 9hrs and 47% left doesn't seem like a problem... if you take your phone and leave it on (with screen off) and wait until it dies then charge and turn on you will see that the "system" eats almost all your battery. There is nothing wrong with your phone unless you used it a ton and the system still eats all your battery which If that is the case and it's been 9 hours and had 47% battery then I would think you were doing MUCH better than most, imho.

Right after I rooted mine I had terrible battery as well. I ended up reformatting (not wipe, actually formatting my system and caches) and then installed my rom again, fixed permissions and my battery life has been amazing. If I don't use the phone my battery maybe drains five percent all day long. If I use it a lot it will last most of the day as well.

The other thing you should check is you fast dormancy.
If you're flashing custom ROMs it's best to do it at a FULL 100% charge. In the past, before I started doing this, I had major battery life "problems." My phone would drop from 100 to 1 in a matter of hours and just hang on 1% for hours on end. If you haven't done this, download Battery Calibration, turn off your device and plug it in. Once it reaches 100%, turn the device on, run the app, and restart your device WHILE STILL PLUGGED IN. Once everything settles you should be good to go.
