Firmware is tested on my Xperia S Black (HK - 1257-0869)
pre-root image has the lastest Superuser, su, and Busybox 1.19 installed.
enhancement include blue battery percent mod, quickpanel settings.

Are you going to create topic for every single market firmware release around the globe? It is getting a little crowdy here, why not split it into 2: root and non-root firmwares?

Sounds like a good idea, I do agree that it gets crowded and the real good stuff coming out (CM9) are being pushed down the drain.

hmm, in HTCMania i have a thread with all Firmware + ROOT listed, maybe a someone can do that here

procedures ? flash pre-root img then firmware ?

does the unrooted version has the blue battery percent mod and quickpanel?
if not, is it possible to make ftf file with these mods without rooting, as I can't root my device because the bootloader is not unlockable

i have unlocked bootloader and rooted
but i cannot get update from sony,
how can i rooted the LT26i with online update enable ?
can i flash rooted firmware and then relocked the machine
and go for online update to 73 with root still in the machine ?

srsly, do you read the guides? its in RED and HUGE! IF YOU UNLOCK BOOTLAODER YOU CANT UPDATE VIA OTA - PCC - SEUS

I know....,
so, what I'm planning to do is to unlock bootloader and root it
then relock bootloader again and go for OTA update.....
but the problem is will root remain when I update or relock bootloader again ?

no, you cannot alter the system if you use only the ftf.

Either way, rooted or not, you can always relock the bootloader. Once locked, you may proceed with any official firmware update using SEUS (not pc companion, as you can't download 73 firmware with it at the moment).

unforunately no, I'll post a rooted 73 HK firmware system.img in a bit.

I cannot flash img file... it said file size too small...
flashtoo only accept ftf?

Not 100% sure but you may unroot after updating. someone can confirm.
i have locked bootloader, so i don't know if there are problems with unlocked, but my neo was rooted on .42 and stay rooted after .62 ota update.
If you unlocked your bootloader via se official way then no you will brick your phone with a fota update, if you unlocked with setool2 paid for method then you should be fine, but i'm not sure about the setool1 method.
Why not flash with flashtool ?
NO WAY DON´T DO THAT YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE!!!!
Use wotanserver or other way.

thanx for that info! Not really thinking of updating but dat notification kinda annoying..
any idea of removing/deleting that notification without moving to .62?
one more question... if i flash with flashtool the .62 firmware, will my bootloader still be unlocked?
Sure it will be unlocked.
The bootloader as nothing to do with the firmware.
To root you must to flash rootxperia.zip through recovery, it´s the easy way.
Search in the foruns and you will find the thread.

uninstall UpdateCenter.apk with titanium backup, or search for it with root explorer or any other explorer with root access.

I have a Neo bought unlocked with 2.3.3, I made OTA update and I briked my phone. After restore, first I flashed with a new 2.3.3 and after used x10 flash tool, I rooted with DoomLoRD_v4_ROOT. I received that is a new software update available, I was affraid to do it by OTA and I done with pc software update from SE. After update I still have superuser app but my neo is not rooted.
How can I root it again without any flashes or downgrade. Is out there any app working? I tried with Gingerbreak, SoperOneClick v2.3.3 and DoomLoRD_v4_ROOT, but no result.

How is you bootloader unlocked? Official way, s1tool or setool2?
And you can't root .62 without downgrading first to .42. But I guess that trick only works for bootloaders unlocked NOT BY OFFICIAL way, but still not sure, that's why I'm asking you.

[Q] why oh why

Why can't the latest gb.62 firmware be rooted im so fustraghted. Is it to new to be developed or somthing.
it's rootable... you judt need to flash .42 central europe before with "flashtool"... and when is done, root this, and after just upgrade ( OTA ) to .62... ENJOY
it's my case
Iv been trying to do that but all the links i keep coming across are dead cud you post one for me pleaese.

1) Flashtool latest GB firmware: http://narod.ru/disk/37465618001/ST18i_4.0.2.A.0.62.RU_1252-3744.rar.html (If you've already flashed the latest GB firmware then skip this)
2) Fastboot Kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472043
3) Flash Rom for best GB performance (the rom already contains Root with SuperUser):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472043
Easy.
For ICS (which is what .562 is) I used this on both Nordic and my region (USA):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597464
Super easy!
My bootloaders locked cz it can't be unlocked does that matter.
if your bootloader is "unlock allow: no" (like me ) you must contact jinxxx13, he can unlock the phone "completely" for 10 or 15€ or 20$ . but you can flash without... don't try kernel if your bootloader locked :
if you want "stock .42 CEurope" with flashtool : http://www.4shared.com/file/FKdVvVxK/xperia_ray__st18i__402a042_ce.html
it is rootable, also root it, when it's done update in .62 by OTA and root is preserved

Need help to relock BL, Install stock rom & Kernel as Yellow tint issue

Hi All,
Recently got an xperia s, and to be honest been having a few issues with it, i.e memory probs connecting to pc, and yellow tint on screen.
Stupidly prior to checking everything as always I jumped and unlocked the BL, and installed a custom kernel and rom, XSX and K10 ICS.
I had also prior to this updated to ICS via sony. Problem is now I realised that it has the yellow tint at the bottom of the screen so prior to sending it back to sony I want to relock BL and install stock ICS again and stock kernel.
Please can someone show me a link to this I'm in UK and have a factory unlocked version, I have tried to search but I am confused to which one I need, I also cannot find any kernel.
Finally they are all FTF files and I need to be in Flashmode to use these, unfortunately for some reason my phone will not stay in flashmode green light for more than a few minutes and it just boots up so I dont want to start flashing only for it to stop in between and brick my phone any ideas?.
BTW I managed to install fastboot drivers in windows 8 I know some people had problems in windows 7 & 8, I found a solution if anyone needs
Thanks
Mav.
So simple ^^
1st You need to relock your BL via Flashtool by using This http://j.mp/xps_relock
From here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
And when it's done, just update your phone normally via SEUS (Sony Update Service)

Thanks jvsykes,
I thought that you had to first have a stock kernel installed prior to relocking your BL otherwise it would brick your phone, I read it somewhere, I would prefer to have a stock kernel and stock firmware then relock the BL, then possibly put it through SEUS to make sure everything is right.
you dont need to relock the BL for yellow tint issue, the custom roms have nothing to do with it, ive sent my phone back twice unlocked bl and custom fw and its been fixed twice without question

Aha,Well just Flash Stock Firmware via Flashtool [ http://depositfiles.com/files/130eommqj ] [FIRMWARE][6.1.A.0.452] Nordic combined
From here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599303
It will replace your Rom and kernel, after that you can Relock your BL ..
Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help.
Isnt the firmware link rooted?, if so unlocking BL more thank likely will brick it so i've read, also when I go to download it asks for a mob number dont really fancy that?
Dont really want to risk sending away if BL is locked anarchyuk, although i know by right they should fix it.
Thanks
Mav

But its not a UK stock, I've managed to use flashtool to install 6.1.a.0.453, but of course thats not officlally our yet so if i sent it in they would know at some point its been rooted to install this rom.
just cant find UK unrooted official 6.1.a.0.452 in FTF or ZIP/RAR format.
Ok just found this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752864&highlight=6+1+a+0+452+generic+uk
http://www.multiupload.hk/Z97BXEH24E
its a uk generic [6.0.A.3.75]
I can flash this, then relock BL, then use SEUS to update to stock 6.1.A.4.52
Does that seem correct?, or will I have probs?
Also the file I would be using to relock BL is called X10_V1_BLRelock.ftf is this correct?
Thanks
Mav

Reflash the stock firmware then the bootloader lock. Also look in development section for Xperia s Relock. It is called that not the X10 one.

It's over the air, don't accept it! Otherwise your device will brick!!!!!
You can only flash the .ftf and after that a prerooted kernel, but don't make updates over the air when your bootloader is unlocked

Uninstall update center will solve your problem. You don't need it anyway. Or flash the .ftf which should be uploaded somewhere here on xda
i think it wont brick your phone as long as you have a locked bootloader. but you will lose your root access

so to TS, you may relock bootloader and root via the downgrade and update method if you really want the .587 update

If I were him, I'd wait for someone who upload the .587 ftf. Then he can just flash it and a prerooted kernel like rage kernel for 4.0.4 and he has the latest rooted sony ics firmware
I will just chuck the update and uninstall update center as advised.
Thanks a lot for the info guys
Update to .587 and then follow this tutorial to root your phone. I did it already!

No OTA on Unlocked Bootloader + Root ??

A noob question I guess, but everytime I search for this answer I get different results. My D6503 is rooted using KingRoot and bootloader is unlocked following the official sony method. Will that prevent me getting the latest Marshmallow update via PC Companion?
Yes. You can't get OTA or PC Companion update on unlocked bootloader.
Grab a FTF and flash via Flashtool. As you are on unlocked bootloader, you can root it quite easily using Advanced Kernel.. Look for it on development section.
