[COMPLETE][DEV] SH06D NERV Theme - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

2012-07-12:The project is completed, all the info can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1758466
2012-07-01: Thank you for the support.
Since people are unpleased already, even during the discussion stage; this was needed to be said:
It's NOT a thread for leechers, DO NOT expect any download link, at least not yet...
Any negative opinion simply because there was nothing to gain/leech here is a waste of time and unnecessary.
Intro
You might have heard (and seen) the phone by SHARP called SH06D NERV (click here).
A Android-based phone with a unique look to it.
I was thinking of recreating it for our ace but i'm in need of help to make this possible.
Read more about the phone here: Link

The actual rom isnt out, so no real port:
So far the wallpaper is 90% finished. The lines are probably more yellow than red
(the wallpaper will be uploaded once it's ready.)
Details:
This will be based on the official CM7.
The old NERV phone (for inspirational purpose): link
What I need help with now is to make these metroblock-widgets.
Some of those widgets are actually just for show -without any function, at least thats what I think.
This is what i've planned on doing so far:
- Complete the wallpaper.
- Mod the google search bar widget.
- Minor adjustment to the framework on a CM7 based theme.
- Mod the android music widget into a matching theme.
- Chose a font.
I dont mind sharing these tasks.
If I see lack of interest/help, I will probably just finish this for my personal use since its nothing major.
More info tba.

Does the picture show the phone home screen? it looks awfully complicated and advanced
would love to see a port!

Yeah, thats stuppose to be the homescreen, this is the only other screenshot that ive found.

id love to help but have next to no experience in developing or porting at all im just an end-user so all i can really offer is my skills as a tester and report any bugs i find once built but it looks very interesting

it looks simply sexy.. but hard to get a port right?

The phone wont be out until June (i think) so we wont have anything to port, all we can do a the moment is to create a look-alike. Im assuming that the phone is simply running android with a theme, nothing else. And there isnt much info about the software from the articles that ive read. Maybe on their homepage, but it's in japanese.
http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/product/next/sh06dnerv/special.html

yeah you can make a simple theme.. even then, you dont know how the menus/dialer looks so you can probably mod an available theme

The troublesome part (which i requested for help) are the widgets xD
"What I need help with now is to make these metroblock-widgets."

It looks sooo cool looking forward to this port

Lcars System for Samsung Galaxy S is now avalible for Sweeterhome2 Beta

I been searching all over the web for a decent LCARS PADD skin for android
well got tired of looking decided to go ahead and make one for myself
This is my first Attempt at making a functional Lcars system
lot of hours went into searching and interface design simple to use
pain to design anyways let me know what you guys think this version is the first and is subject to change
download sweeterhome beta 2 first
and choose theme
then search for

UPDATE
Hey guys been getting questions about lcars system in color well currently I am working on just that!
Something minimalistic at the same time very efficient as far as functionality and theme wise will be posting

discontiued
hey guys im going to go ahead and stop providing support on my lcars theme i put alot of time into designing a theme that functioned and looked good aswell
but support for my work was pretty much none so unfortunately that is my de-motivator anyways best of luck guys
thanks to those who downloaded and tried it but this is me bidding adieu

Wow, impressive. Could you do one that's in color next? Part of the appeal imo of the LCARS was the colors. Maybe do a TMP-era (blue/green) and TNG (purple/orange) versions?

Maybe something based off the Stargate Atlantis computer system would be cool ..
Just sticking with the scifi motif , if it was me personally , I would do a Cylon interface, Eureka and Warehouse 13 as well As SG:A ...
I'll look into that I'm all for the scifi based computer interfaces they were so creative and artistic now I plan on making then actually functional

Hi,
First of all - many thanks for the great effort of making this cool LCARS!
I got a quick question as there's no manual for some of feature.
I wonder about the top screen (the map screen). Could you please explain a bit more about the map feature ?
It is just static map (not GPS), or does it show where you are currently in or what?
Currently it shows California. While it is my fave state, I am in UK which is like 5,000 miles east of California. hence my wondering about that map part.
Please let me know if it is just a static map or should be "live map" (/show where you are currently in)?
Many thanks again!
the map is just static not much to explain until there is a way to implement a gps fix i used it as a place holder
How could I port this over to the Nexus one?

[ROM] Android 2.2 MIUI for Desire and Nexus One- !!INSANE COMPLETE UI OVERHAUL!!

I found this INSANE video on Google Nexus One blog.
If you have a Nexus One or a Desire, do yourself a favor and WATCH THIS VIDEO:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or-9T44Bt7M&feature=player_embedded
Has anyone heard about this ROM? Its the MOST INSANE ROM IVE EVER SEEN...It runs SOOO damn fast and smooth, and they have COMPLETELY overhauled the UI. Its INSANE. Its like they took parts of Android, IOS, added an insane Sense-like wrapper on it..and viola....PWNAGE.
Anyone know where it comes from? I have never heard of these guys...but MY GOD its nuts. Whoever they are, these guys have SKILLZ.
See for yourself!! I just hope to God that Gingerbread is that awesome.
Heres a great vid from user Chididdy123 running this amazing ROM. Thanks for this!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBuiWZ8TDBw
Omomo (dev) has also said that "We will release OTA every week. usually it is on Friday evening 8:00 PM (Beijing - time)
I'll give you a link (today) so that you can download latest build from us. But we may delete it one day later because we don't have enough bandwidth to host many users. so please make sure your download it in time".
UPDATE (October 4th)
So guys, I had no idea that the finding of this video would make such MASSIVE noise in the Android community. While I think its a great idea to keep this thread open for problem solving and overall discussion, I would highly advise you to visit the excellent thread started by djmcnz for builds, language packs and changelogs. He has done a great job in keeping the beast that is MIUI accessible for all. His excellent thread can be viewed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=789566
Give him and all the people who have put so much work into translations MASSIVE props, as they have done an insane job at making this wonderful ROM accessible and updated for everyone.
You can easily notice that video runs accelerated, seems they did it to make the phone looks like it's running faster that it really is.
Watch it one more time and you'll see what I mean.
That could be man. It does look a bit TOO fast. But you gotta admit, the UI looks nice, and even if you slowed the video down, it seems like it would still run pretty smooth.
I really..REALLY like the UI.
right could we get this to work in english...it would be great!!! looking forward for this.....thanks!
Just another custom launcher...
Looks interesting
I might give it a try later on and report back here
h**p://miui.com/thread-1154-1-1.html
You can download the ROM from this forum thread. I used Chrome to translate it. Downloading now.....
well.. UI is very nice. and the video seems to be accelerated to shorten the length of the video. Anyways... it is still in beta and things will only get smoother and faster as development continues. Nevertheless, the UI is very nice. Will look forward for final release.
downloading as we speak
I was just really suprised when I searched the forums and found 0 results on it. I would be interested in trying it as well.
Let me know how the flash goes if you decide to do it!!

[Q] Is it a ROM or is it a theme?

I've got thick skin so feel free to throw things.
Watching the forum over the last month I've seen a proliferation of ROMs to the point that I've stopped updating - also partly because my favorite and second favorite teams have stopped putting out new versions. I finally succumbed to the burning urge to try another ROM last night but ended up with buyers "meh."
The ROM environment has become so fragmented that it's hard to know what the advantage of ROM a is over ROM b other than appearance.
A comment from one of the ROM makers brought the problem into sharp focus. "I've renamed my ROM because I didn't know one of my team members already had a ROM named X."
How can you be part of a "team" and not know what's being produced by that team?
It seems like we've got more themers producing work in the form of full ROMs rather than themes. I've got nothing against themers, I love packages that can completely change the look of my device and I'm always on the lookout for cool new themes.
I'd rather see ROM maintainers and themers working together where the former group produces faster and more reliable ROMs while the latter group produces mods for those ROMs.
Do the two groups just not want to work closely together or are there predominantly just mostly lone wolves working at the ROM/theme level in Android?
Wrong section. Suppose to go in q&a (QUESTIONS and answers)
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
I disagree because it's directly applicable to development and is aimed at the developers. It's not a general q/a question
I agree with this. There's no need to make a "rom" if you just change the theme. Just make a theme and zip it up then post it in the themes section. And oh yea I believe people refer to these people as "winzippers".

OP has a great point about our forum here. Ive really stopped doing anything but for my own use, and with the exception of a few real roms put here, I've watched our Vibrant area here turn into a rom porting paradise, without a lot of original work done by people calling themselves devs. Several of these self proclaimed devs have asked me for help with recent projects, and have then been unable to provide even a simple logcat for diagnosis. If someone cant pull a logcat or understand how to do other basics, you really need to take your time and learn.
It is okay to theme and do little things while you learn, and take the time to put out a quality product, instead of a hurried build thats half broken. We have a slight handful of true devs out here, and a whole bunch of people who want to learn, but seem to be in too much of a hurry to kang others work and not really learn how to build a rom from the ground up. Its a damn shame.
Ginger Clones of the World Unite!!! via the XDA App
I agree with Br1cK'd. There are a lot of "devs" lately that seem to be kanging together half broken ROM's. I can't tell you how often lately I've flashed something only to find major bugs, when the OP claims that the ROM is 100 percent working and bug free. It seems that most of the more skilled developers have moved on to newer devices. I'm all for people learning but they need to do a lot of quality control before they post their work on XDA.
are you tryna say my team member ferhanmm that did an error ? whats up with you son?>
But then... what actually constitutes a "Rom".
For as far as I know, according to CM6/7/Miui people, only theirs are truly "Roms", as they are built from ground up.
Everything else is just a themed stock Rom, or improvements to existing Sammy framework. (Which I still love btw)
If there were malicious Roms that are purposely bricking systems, then I would argue for stricter requirements for releases. But as it stands, I think the openness of this forum allows users and developers alike to find what makes them happy.
I just think in general, Rom devs/maintainers get more credit (Thanks button hits?) than purely themers. As there is a feeling that themers kind of "work for" Rom Devs... Which is why people tend to package their work as Roms instead of themes (So their work seems less derivative or what not)
Wrong section, but I agree.

first of all about the logcat ? did you learn alone ? i guess that if someone ask you, its nno bad to help is it ? because i bet some one showed you...now about the kang, so almost every rom here is a kang right ? almost all roms based on stocks from i9000s and stocks kb1`s isnt it ?... i guess this people have the right to learn, but seems you guys that already know a little dont like to help huh?
I have more than enough mods on my rom to constitute it not being a theme, and I don't know about you but I don't memorize every rom name out there. It sounded similar so I changed it, what's wrong with that? Since 2.2 has already been tweaked to the max I was able to put out a pretty stable version in the first post. Only things I can really do from here are make it more efficient and finish the theme which I plan to do but I just posted it. And it's my first rom so thanks for the encouragement.
I agree, the forum is filling up with "roms" that are just the same rom rethemed over and over and over again. What annoys me most are these self-proclaimed "devs" who take bits and pieces of other people's work and put them together for their own "rom" when they didn't really write any of it. Just take a look at their credits lol... It's a crazy long list.
I don't think there's anything wrong with having multiple ROMs. After all, everyone will like something different.
I think what the OP is saying though is that there are ROMs out there are essentially the same pieces with different theme, or maybe a new lock screen, and whatnot. I think the OP means little additions like that can be part of a theme or the theme & apps forum and could be added to any ROM and doesn't warrant releasing a new ROM under a new name and new dev.

I did my first root about two month ago. Since then I have tried about 20 various roms or updates to them. I tried one last week that seemed to be a copy from an established developer. The other team got really pissy and used alot of immature slang when confronted. I will no longer use any roms from them. I agree that people should learn from the ground up before posting roms and stop the plagiarism.
I appreciate the hard work of the legitimate developers on this site.

them may be half a$$ed devs but them gotta have donate button
Bosina & Br1cK'd, first, thanks for your input and participation but this thread isn't about helping or not. It's about packing up thematic changes and publishing them as a ROM rather than a theme bundle.
If a group of members wants to debate about newbies not giving as much as they get, please start a new thread.

Comparison of the various custom ROM's

So since there's only about 5 or 6 custom ROM's at the moment I took the liberty of creating a quick site to compare the ROM's. I put them in a comparison table side-by-side, put a link to download them (off my own site [so this can be used as a mirror]) and put a link to my own personal thoughts/semi-informal review of each ROM and included screen-shots of the ROM (90% of it I took myself).
I wanted to share the link/site with you to see what you think. I'm going to try and stay on top of updates and such, and each page on the site has a way for you to leave a comment. So if you have any suggestions or problems, feel free to comment there (or here). Also, if you want to submit your own review, thoughts, suggestions, etc. the site has a way for you to post it and I can look it over and publish it. I'd love for this not to be a one man show. If you have extensive experience with one of the ROM's and want to throw in your own review, post it there and I'll make it live and link to it in the comparison table.
I know I'm going to get blasted, told how stupid and useless the site is, etc. etc. and I'm prepared for that, but maybe you could also include a quick note on why it's stupid, what I need to add, how better to improve it, etc. you know, constructive criticism. I do know it's ugly and using a crappy default skin, but I was more concerned on getting content in there right now vs the look and feel of the actual thing; I'll get around to it, eventually. Anyways, I'm only trying to help.
http://sgs2.glitchsys.com/
Thank you, this is very helpful to a newcomer to Android. I'll try to find time to read through the reviews, as I want to find the right ROM without the hassle of flashing each one (but I guess you'll never know which one works best for you unless you try it...). The comparison table helps a lot.
Nice compilation! Was worth a read! Thanks for gathering all these into one
This is awesome! Many thanks. I had asked to setup something similar a while back with all the Galaxy Tab ROMs. Never took off. I can definitely see that this could take a bit of work keeping it current. Hopefully folks will help out in that area.
i like the work u did...
Thanks for this! Really helpful to new guys.
Serendipity is at 8.1; added the file to the server, updated the Download link and included his changes in the table. It's all good.
i dont think that site is stupid at all. I think it'll help a lot of the newbies but that takes a lot of work to update. As long as it stays updated, I dont see how anyone can say that its a bad idea.
One issue that the devs MIGHT have is that you saved their ROMs and update files to your own server. I know some devs dont like that (at least some on the captivate section didn't) but maybe thats different, here.
Really nice to see all the listed items in there, I know it would be hard to list them all but but maybe point out in the CM7 section more (if not including all seperately) the Modifications, Theme Chooser, Etc. that are built into CM7 by design without the need for more apps, rom tweaks. Also note that the CM7 camera does not have the same options as stock and how the video recording rate is not the 30 fps as with the stock roms. I am trying to be impartial here but thought I would note that looking at your site would make some think CM7 didn't have much to it, when in fact it has many options and setting built in that are not available to stock roms or how stock roms would need some other changes to get things to work the same. On another note the ONLY downfall I see with CM7 is the contact searching would be nicer to have a letter on the side.of the screen like stock does so I don't have to scroll all the way down to find a contact and would be nice to have speed dial working without another app from the market.
Just trying to point out a few plus's and minuses of CM7 to help you add to your great comparison site.

Nice work -- the only suggestion I would make is that UnNamed's section is huge compared to the others - so unless you are specifically recommending that one, you may want to equalize the columns.
But other than that -- I think a very helpful resource for folks who are new to the phone looking to get a quick comparison of which ROM to try first!
@RockRatt can I use some of your wording in my review? I'll update my CM7 section/review but you wrote a lot of nice ideas.

??????????
Micromax A60 costs 4620/- INR
Not more than 94 USD
>_<
Makes me angry !
Took a look and - i laughed
they have not even resized the hdpi framework - yet alone getting it work in ldpi
AND
- no battery icons
- no 3g icons
- i can see stock gingerbread signal icons
- lockscreen is slider not lense like
I don't even call this a port - it's just themed and....fake
As you can see galaxy 3 or 5 or whatever ldpi device are struggling to port miui, it's just framework, nothing else.
I believe only MIUI themselves can only port to ARMv6 and mdpi/ldpi devices, as they are closed source.
#OT
I want to cry now...Sony xperia play $0 with the price plan I am using with O1...god, why didn't I listen to my mother and buy a phone during November/December ...anyway its too bulky and heavy..price dropped because nobody bought it

Well i feel the same... THEMED ROM...
hahaha... but i like play... has pretty good gaming stuff packed in it...
600 MHz processor
Seems like an "port to me; 1. Download Zip file(MIUI.us 1.8.5 Eng Deo ZipA Signed SuperKid.zip) place in your root of sd card."
based on some 1.8.5, however many stuffs seems to be not there "due to wrong framework or missing files, however its seems good"
looks nice

Dear Friends,
What i m saying 2 u may hurt u as what all of u said hv hearted everyone who use Micromax A60,.
first of all ZTE-MICROMAX A60 is not a **** and
Secondly it is not a new release at Rs 4620/- INR as it is released since 2010 at Rs 6999/- INR. Now micromax has slipped its price to provide the cheapest android, not the ****.............
Thirdly if Miui Rom is ported to A60 by some good person then don't feel sad or jeleous. I confirm all of u yes the rom is not working till now but may be it will get into life sometime and i wish all of u will also get the latest Miui ported to ur lg very soon,.... but never say anything wrong it hurts other person's feelings
well yes never discourage the person developing or investing his/her time on it too....
maybe u all can also help us try port this rom in our phones and feel proud of being a GEM ROM ported to a ldpi phones too and this will encopurage others too for working on other ldpi's and therefore feel proud tht the rom u all like is liked by many others too.
think of what company s think when there app support many devices, they feel great tht they can get more feedbacks and can improve further.
and it's simple "As Many Users As Much Development".
The only thing I ever enjoyed about miui is/are the pulldown bar icons....what is it that people like about miui

pffff...what did we say to hurt you? What DJOptimusOne said he was jealous. get your facts right, how can we hurt other people? What exactly hurt them? Where did anyone say "****"!? oh yeah, i don't think MIUI is gonna work or ported to ARMv6 by other devs other than MIUI team themselves, because it's closed source. If doing without source, it requires many code to be re-written and must take as much as a dozen people at least.
Even if it's ported, many features would not be MIUI already, but cm7, CAF etc etc
At most, we can only provide the appearance and framework( i.e. themed)
I've heard alot on miui being closed sourced, probably a huge challenge to some dev's out there than again who really wants miui
