[Q]Soft Bricked my Samsung Galaxy SII - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there
I have a problem with my Samsung s2.
I have installed kies nor any other software on my pc to sync my phone to it. i don't even know how kies works...
I was going through the phone and under system i saw the update option...i updated the phone and the firmware too...after about 3-4 installations and reboots the phone got stuck on the start up screen...i tried hard reboot by holding the power+volume up+menu/OK keys - Nothing happened
then i deleted all my files from the sd card but that dint help either. Then i saw a video on youtube about clockworkmod... i followed that and after doing so the phone now goes to start up screen with a yellow triangle. when i try installing the ROM from odin it fails. Since then i got an icon showing that there is an error on the connectivity between the phone and the computer...i ran the clockworkmod again using odin and the phone returned to start up screen with a yellow triangle. The phone only goes to download mode but doesn't go to recovery/clockworkmod anymore (power+volume up+menu/OK buttons).
Another weird thing is that the phone doesn't turn off, as in if i press the power button for about 5 seconds the screen goes off but turn back on again...so if i have to reboot the phone i have to completely remove the battery n put it back in. when connected to the computer i don't see any storage drives on my computer only Odin detects the phone.
Please help me...
Thanks
Abbas

first try if you dont have a jig, remove battery and put back then Vol-down+Home+power...once you get download mod
Try a stock GB version on the ODIN from the link of All stock roms in my signature
make sure KIES is not running...and connected your phone directly to your PC motherbord USB socket, not through any hub or front USB socket...
better you give a full description of your problem like "soft bricked" instead of just "Q" on the heading, so that other can see at a glance...

Hi Zaheed,
Sorry about the heading...i actually accidentally posted this thread without the heading and now i cant see where i can edit it.
I will try what you have suggested and will revert to you.
Thanks

you can download it from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9100&r=1#regiona
latest GB is XWLA4
Make sure your phone is I9100, not I9100G / I9100T or any other
---------- Post added at 01:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:06 PM ----------
this one is working: http://skywanker.net/download/downl...9100_DBT_I9100XWLA4_I9100XXKI4_I9100DBTKH1.7z
just download and unzip, then you wil get a single file, which to be selected from PDA of ODIN...thats it
feel free to ask more....

Hi once again,
i have just checked and found out that my phone's model is I9100G and not I9100. is this a problem or would i need to download another software for that?

rescue / recover bricked samsung galaxy ace s5830

hey there!
i guess i found the solution for my problem on this forum but i cant find the topic anymore. i just wanted say "thank you" to the unknown author,
and post the solution again, so maybe some more people can find it since it was just coicidence for me..
okay my samsug galaxy ace s8530 has been bricked when some flashing went wrong. afterwards there was no reaction anymore. i was pretty shure ther was no way but doing this.
unfotunetly i found a post without any answers where someone told the following:
1: take out your battery
2: connect your mobile to your pc using the usb data cable
3: keep pressed these three buttons: Vol- , Menu, Power
4: still keep them pressed and put back your battery to the phone. this is not too easy but actually its possible
5: the mobile will go to download mode, flash with odin.
my battery was nearly completly charged when i did this, and
it worked for me! thanks again to the guy who found out!
btw it is also possible to get to the arm9 mode this way. i just couldnt figure out what it was good for.
I will give it a try tomorrow on my s5570 that i just bought/bricked lol
unfortunately it didnt work for me, would creating a usb test jigs help in my case (my phone cant even power on), and does it charge if I connect it to the power cord?

No it's not the same!!!
With your method, you didn't mention to keep pressing the 3 buttons while putting back the battery. In his, there is this instruction.
With yours it didn't show "Downloading".

Help need for bricked ace S5830
Good day to all!
I am trying to help out a colleague who 'probably' has bricked his Ace S5830
He says he was attempting to flash stock 2.3.6 and this happened.
He has been rooted and using CM previously.
Can anyone please advise what this screen/logo means?
It can go to Download mode but not recovery mode.
I can obtain more details if required.
Thanks and cheers to all.
My phone only enter to the download mode, but i can`t flash it, because i have half-bricked USB port. It`s only charges after connecting to PC: "USB Device not recognized" and in the device manager: "Unknown Device" "A request for the USB device descriptor failed.". Any solutions?

how to return to stock rom from lewa rom

good afternoon,
I have to installed the lewa rom and I want return back to a stock rom.
I tried to use odin but when I click on start I get this message:
cannot open the usb serial port. code: 32
Someone can help me?
I used odin in the past several times without any problem
I make the hard reset on phone and the wipe cache too.
thanks
is your phone being recognized by odin correctly?
---------- Post added at 10:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:28 PM ----------
if the answer is yes, then all you have to do is shutdown samsung kies before flashing with odin!
Both programs get in conflict!
kies is jealous of odin!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
press "THANKS" if i helped
You might be missing the USB drivers inside the phone.....reflash the ROM and try again

Thanks, that link is enough to get me started..but is it something i could just download and instal on my pc,connect my phone and repair or i would need a kinda of pad or something...saw a video on youtube where something was connected or soldered to the phone and then plugged to the pc without the battery.
Thanks.
If you spend money on a RIFF box, unless you know what you're doing/have done it before more than a few times, there's a fair chance you'll both pay for something you'll never use again & bork your phone beyond repair.
Pay someone else a quarter of the cost & have them do it/successfully fix your phone (assuming it can be JTAG'd & isn't a MB replacement job).

Are you sure it is an i9300?
What does up when you go to settings/about phone?

Not true. Most people with SDS can get into Download mode only, but flashing anything doesn't work. The product name comes up blank and the Firmware shows CUSTOM no matter what, because it can't find the stock Samsung ROM, even if you've never rooted your device.
Be careful because a lot of people have been denied by service centers who claim they rooted their device because it says CUSTOM, but assert that you don't even know what that is (root). If the service center tells Samsung, Samsung can't go against their word. This is from other people's experience on here that I've read. They'll charge you $350 to replace the motherboard, so make sure it's clear.

This video better be showing how to replace the eMMC or the motherboard otherwise "coming soon" is rubbish and lies.

Yeah, this mobile sucks. My mom lend me it and its horrible. I lost the system (you know) and the mobile update (Alcatel) don´t do any. I put it, the mobile sometimes its not recognized... No more. Alcatel, not again.

if you could that would be amazing. I am stuck in a locked bootloader and fastboot doesn't detect the phone (altough adb does) so I cannot unlock it.

yes.
I tried to flash supersu from twrp and since then I'm stuck in bootloader (couldn't unlock bootloader due to fastboot not seeing the phone). I still can get to recovery, but can't boot up the system.
Alcatel's Mobile Upgrade Q doesn't work for me either (tried on 2 different PC's).
I hope restoring clean non-rooted boot/system will help, if somebody can share the backup files.

Which Mobile Upgrade Q are you using? Try to use 5.0.3 version. Tried both on my 64bit Windows 10 and 7 for my 5051x Optus locked phone. But you need to manually put your phone to download mode (while your phone completely off, press all volume up + volume down + power), then plug in your phone, start the program and follow the prompt.
Had to reflash my phone numerous time, because supersu seems to brick the phone, while kingroot lost its root every reboot.

which driver do you have installed? (what shows up in device manager?) When the phone is in download mode, my PC doesn't detect it. after several seconds the phone exits download mode, and then gets detected, but it doesn't auto-install any driver, so I have to manually choose something.
Still, if someone could send me full backup from TWRP, I could try to restore it on the phone and get it working this way.

Thanks! With this driver it finally recognized the phone and flashed it successfully (using the latest Mobile Upgrade Q 5.1.8).

ok now i got that solved it was a problem of win 10 missing android driver but now the software just jams at 2 % and eventually crash... the closest model i have found int he software is alcatel 5051 but mine 5051X so do i need to use some other version or what? just says read terminal information failed check the phone status...
well now i got all that solved but the upgrader says there is no newer one than there is and wont do anything with the old 1 so my original problem stays..... the instalation crashes every time... is there anyway i could just swipe the whole instalation away sense it seems to be broken someway
