i using i9100 quite awhile now, i wan to install some application on me i9100 but the file extension was .ipk and .ipa, can anybody tell me how to install this application??
i upgrade my i9100 to ics 4.0.3

I think u can't install as .ipa is the format for iOS apps ....

how about the .ipk file?

Aren't .ipk files for webOs? Why are you trying to install files meant for other operating systems?

I believe you can only install .APK file on your android phone, the best way is go to Google play either by pc or from phone, search the app and click on install button,
you will find thousand of apps there as per your need

If my rhetorical question wasn't obvious enough - then here it is as plain as I can make it.
You cannot install packages that are meant for other phone operating systems.

You can try to install "TB" or "My backup" and do some backups. After that, copy what you want from backup.
Good luck!
For install on another ta let. It is not possible.

Video player most likely won't work- it seems that there are other files in system it depends on ("native linux" binaries and libs)
For other apps- can't say for sure, I don't know how much they depend on framework
if we can get the Apk,then we can determine if it work or not.....

Here it is
One note- ICS firmwares use modified/incompatible squashfs header which unsquashfs can't handle. Just mount unpacked .suqshfs as loop if such problem occurs
I extracted the code for the most Archos apps awhile ago. I can tell you they all rely on Archos frameworks(starting with mediacenter which handles video+music and ending up with a systemmonitor), so you need to get that on your Prime first. And you shouldn't forget you can get some signing problems when compiling them.
P.S. G8 apks are more easy, but they all still use archos frameworks.

1. Kies only work for Stock based ROM
2. My files is not preinstalled in Super nexus Rom. If you want to access your files and folders, you have to download a file manager from Google Playstore (market). I recommend Solid Explorer or Es file explorer. both are free..

[Q]Android version identification

Hi everyone!
I hope someone here will have an asnwer for my question...
So , the question is, How can I know for sure, which Android version runs on my device, if I don't trust the information
provided in "build.prop" file.
Specifically, how can I be sure I have an ICS and not GB ?
Thank you in advance!

Furthermore if your running ICS for android version it should have a number ranging from 4-4.04.

Thanks, but both answers don't help in my case, as they do use the contents of "build.prop".
In my case, I don't trust "build.prop" , and hence looking for alternative ways to determine the Android version.

What's your beef with build.prop? The only other way I know is to download a ROM of your choice, unzip it, Look in META-INF>com>android> and open up the metadata file and you should be able to see it in there. But, I suppose that could be fudged as well. Is someone launching some sort of Android conspiracy against you?

LOL .
OK I'll explain myself...
I have a chinese phone, which runs Android.
Manufacturer , releases new ROMs from time to time.
Last few ROMs, were "4.0.3", as it was written in "build.prop", but after installation,
I saw there is no Right to Left support, and for me , that is a sign, that the ROM isn't really 4.0.3,
as (AFAIK) 4.0.3 supports RTL out ofthe box...
Now, I still hope they will release real 4.0.X ROM some day, but till then, I don't want
to install every ROM they release. I want to identify whether ROM is 2.3.6 or 4.0.X before I Install it,
and not based on "build.prop".
So, I hope now you have full explanation, and will be able to help.
Thanks!

Though, the problem is to know ROM's Android version , before I install it on the device.
So it is not a solution to my problem...

Download the rom open it with 7zip and go to system-SW_configuration.xml
Open it with notepad++ and check the firmware.
The same thing you can do it with root explorer in your phone.
I don't believe he changed all the xml's just to make users believe is an ICS rom
To check for ICS:
Look at the file's /system/bin .
If it contains a binary called sh it's Gingerbread .
If it contains a binary called mksh then it's ICS .

[Q] TD-1010 Stock ROM Extraction

I have Recently obtained and rooted a Double Power (DoPo) TD-1010 Tablet running ICS.
As it is a generic Chinese RK3066 tablet, I have not seen much support for it here.
I would like to know how to extract the necessary files needed to create a stock ROM for this device, in the event that I brick the device.
If all goes well, I plan to release the ROM, as there have been a select few others in need of it as well.
You have to be running on a Linux distro and use a tool called rkflashtool in conjunction with a script that will backup the .img's from your nand.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286305
The script is called simpledump.sh you will also need to compile a file called mkkrnlimg.c
These have to all be in in your usr/bin folder in Linux, your $Path.

[Q] Can I somehow upgrade my Android 2.1 phone?

I have the rare projector phone Samsung Galaxy Beam GT-I8520 (the first version). It was only released in Singapore, for a limited time, back in 2010.
Unfortunately, Samsung decided not to upgrade the 2.1 Android version of the phone to 2.2 due to the rarity of the device.
Since then, Samsung launched a new, international, version of the concept with the same name in 2012, but with different hardware and the product code GT-I8530. It was launched with Android 2.3 and has gotten upgrades to Jellybean.
I was wondering if I could somehow upgrade (port?) a firmware(ROM?) for my I8520 using a firmware(ROM?) for I8530?
They have the same resolution and both use ARMv7 instruction set.
Thank you!

you can compare with other devices too select the best one that suits your phone and port the rom from that device

yea it is a good guide but I think it is copied from xda
for everything you will get answers from xda so why are you searching for another ones
and after building you should debug to find if there any error exists don't know much about that
anyways check here all you need is there
and search in xda and post in rom building section about rom porting questions
you should be debugged and use emulater to find out any error before flashing it into your phone
I have now downloaded a rom for I8520 and one for I8530.
But they do not contain the files I'm supposed to edit. One is called I8520DXJI1.rar and contains a file called SS_DL.dll and a .tar file containing these files:
cache.rfs
modem.bin

userdata.rfs

The other, I8530XXLK1_NEELK1_Nordic_Android_2.3.6.zip, also contains a file called SS_DL.dll and a .tar.md5 file.
What should I do with these? Do I need some other kind of roms?
