Extended battery worth it? - HTC Rezound

My Verizon store has extended batteries for all 4g phones for $25 plus my 25% discount. My question is, is it worth the added bulk? Last long?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA

Hands down, unquestionably the best decision I've made. Lasts all day with no problem.
Sent from my HTC Rezound via Tapatalk 2 beta 5

Yeah it's pretty much needed if you wanna use it hardcore or go on long trips... I mean I've gotten 34+ hours outta mine with regular use on a stock, unrooted phone. Where if I'm lucky I can pull 12+ outta the stock battery. And it's not really that much added bulk, overall it makes the phone weigh 1/2 a lb, with one of the ext. battery cases.

What Rom are u running? New or old firmware? I can get maybe 9 hours now with moderate use.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA

Yeah, I'd so go for it. Right now on the BAMF Rom Been up 6 hrs 41 mins, still have 92%. Screen 49%, wifi 21%, etc.
Personally I like the added bulk. I have pretty big hands and if a phone is too thin it is a little clumsy. The added bulk gives me something to hold.

Ive heard even with an extended the battery life isnt stellar.

Wow, im gonna get that now!

My phone running the setup in my sig with an extended battery gets almost as good battery life as my bosses maxx.

A few on here have said it before. What kind of life are you getting?

I bought one on day one, and only used it for one day. I did not like the poor fitment of the cover, or the added bulk. I adapted by always having a charger handy.

I get a full work day and still have like 70% left when I get home as long as I'm not streaming audio with iheart radio or Sirius radio online. Those two apps will kill even the big battery in about 8 hours.
The big battery is the best investment you can make with this phone, I have 3 of them. I like everything about it. The bigger size gives a better grip on the phone also.

i get close to a full 24 hours with 4g on all the time. if i chose to switch back to 3g to prolong life about 36-48 hours. this is with moderate use running Nils ICS ROM.

Extended battery arrived 2600mah True Cell

So my extended battery and case arrived. I bought the only one on EBay advertised for the AT&T version. Today is my first day of use. When it arrived it was charged to 67%. One thing I will say is the phone feels 3 times as heavy as it used to but the case fits snugly. The battery reads for the I9100 Samsung galaxy s2. I will upload a pic as soon as I figure out how to do it from my phone.

nice, keep us posted...
Oh wow! How much was it? What does the outside of the back cover look like? Does it have the same texture/feel as the standard cover?
Definitely interested in how this turns out
Hello guys well so far so good. I am at 54% and the last time the battery was connected was exactly 8 he's ago. I have sent and recieved 74 data messages using group me. I have read a 102 page ebook today. And streamed 4 utube videos each about 10 min in length. I also streamed about 10 movie previews using flixster. I am almost certain that if I were using the oem battery the phone would be close to dead right about now. I am very very pleased with the battery life that I got today. I probably did more today with my phone then I have since I purchased it and to still have over 50 percent of battery life after 8 hours pleases me. What I did notice though is that the phone off of the charger it dropped down to 93 percent within an hour. And the reason why I noticed it is because I took it off of the charger to go to a meeting and when I came back I was like whoa. I have to wonder if it was truly charged to 100 percent because it has taken me some time to write this post and my screen has been on the entire time 10 min and I have only lost 1%. The case itself is plastic but it does not have the same texture as the original it is smooth but it is not slippery I am currently holding the phone with 2 fingers tilted at almost a 90 degree handle and its sticking. In any case it's easier to hold the phone now probably due to the added bulk. Once my Captivate charges I will take better pics of the case itself. I will also post a link to the item on ebay shortly. I believe I paid $24 or $26. Now of course my test is not scientific but again I consider myself am a heavy user and I am happy!!

I left the screen on for a little over 30 min to see how much battery drain would occur. I was also typing the previous comment I made earlier then switched over to FB and Google+ not bad for having screen on at about 50% of its brightness.

There was one other I found on Ebay advertised as compatible with the I777. However, it was removed shortly after I sent a question asking if the battery was NFC capable and not cause the phone to boot loop with the USB cable plugged in. I guess it wasn't compatible after all...
So your new battery charges as normal? No issues with the cable plugged in?
I will do some research later to see if this battery has the nfc chip not sure how to detect that. I have not experienced any problems using my phone while plugged into the charger. Actually I play tank hero last night for about 15 minutes and the phone did run warm not extremely hot but it was definitely noticeable.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
One thing that I failed to mention last night because I just realized it this morning. I am running Juice Defender Plus but I have been using it from day one with this one because I used it with the Captivate. My excitement got the better of me but again I used this app and the exact same settings when the OEM was installed in the my phone. My settings are for it to check the network every 5 minutes and stay awake for 2 minutes after checking then cut data network again for 5 minutes. Not that comfortable with playing with the rest of the settings because there are a lot more things you can do but that is probably helping me achieve greater than normal battery life. Right now it says that JD has increased my battery life by 1.53 times since it has been running. Over the weekend I will have to test the battery without JD so that those that don't use any of these kind of apps will get a true idea of what battery performance you should expect.

What setting do you use for this? I've turned off "Background Data" and have seen a huge increase in battery life so far. If I could get JD+ to automate this process on some kind of schedule, it would be great!
Wow the extended battery doubles the thickness of the phone... i've been getting good battery life after putting in CM7 and re-calibrating the battery..
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA App
Are regular cases compatible with the extended battery?
Nevermind.
Love the idea of a bigger battery but I can't justify the bulk when I went 15 hour and only lost 40%... Granted it was light use, like checking XDA texting and small internet usage, but then again, that's with no jd with 1.4 mhz oc and full sync and everything. Cyanogen mod gave me the battery life I want without the bulk
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA App
Wow I wish I had the guts to install Cyanogen on my phone. I will try it on my captivate first. And you are right it nearly triples
the weight of the phone.
JD Plus actually gives u the ability to change how often your phone turns off the data. 5,15,30,60 minute increments. Today I have not used my phone much at all. Unplugged 5 hours and 14 minutes ago and it has 94% remaining.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
I was all set to buy an extended battery but no need now. 36 hours off charger with light use and 76% battery life remaining. JD+ and bloatware frozen did the trick. This is with background data on and syncing..
Does Cm7 really improve battery life by that much? I've been using UnNamed

thunderbolt battery compared to rezound

So I am getting a new phone tomorrow since my thunderbolts AUX port is screwed up and I don't have warrenty anymore.
Currently I am on cyaogenmod and I say I get maybe 30% more battery compared to stock from... I noticed with many 2nd Gen 4G phones they get maybe 30% better battery stock vs stock.
Wondering if anyone else here came from a thunderbolt could give me an inside on how their battery experience is
Thanks
I just switched yesterday, and so far, with no tweaks, it's substantially better. This phone is everything the Thunderbolt should have been.

Am i reading this correctly? You are getting 28-35 hrs on a Rezound!
I charged mine overnight took it off charge @ 7AM and at 8pm i had about 25%. Throughout the day i used the browser for a total of 20min played a couple of games for a total of 15min and used the phone for about 1 hr.
This really sucks - i came from and Dinc with a 3500mah seidio that would have 75 -85% after a minimal usage day like that.
Another thing, i am rooted running Nils' ICS Rom v2.2 and i have setcpu running to clock the cpu down to around 192 when not in use.
How in the world are you getting this kind of batt performance from the Rezound? What Batt are you using? Are you using the tbolt batt in the Rezound?

I am also very curious as how this is possible? What is your set-up? Settings? I take the phone off the charger at 6:30 and by the time I get home at 5 I am lucky if I have 20% left.. Granted I'm still constantly playing with it being only 2 weeks old but.. still seems pretty ****ty!
I've had my Rezound for a few months and the first couple of weeks I loved the phone but hated the battery, but after I broke in the phone and finally stopped messing with it all day long I get really good battery life. I can take it off the charger at 5:30 am and have moderate usage (texting, maybe 45-60 minutes of gaming, phone calls, Internet, etc) and when I plug it in at 10:30 when I go to bed I usually have 30-40% left on average.

first drop task manager.. evolte has one built in sorta but android doesnt need it. i would drop both to be honest ive pounded mine in use and still havent gone into the yellow. first thin i would look at is cell signal.. update prl/profile etc. then second check your stats sending.. did you agree to send HTC/google data on usage? if so maybe thats it tho i doubt it
last check on apps youve installed maybe you got one thats going nuts.. take a screen shot of your power usage and post it too
Yeah, you don't need a task manager on android 2.2+
Also, does Evo LTE have the same charging circuitry the Evo 4g did, where if you pull it off the charger at 100%, it really could be anywhere from 90-100 and battery meter shows the true charge a couple minutes off charger ?

The problem is according to your username and icon you're on AT&T.
It takes a lot of juice for that Sprint phone to pick up an AT&T signal so it runs your battery down faster.
This is after the initial charge

i dont think it makes a difference on this phone. on the OG yes.. if you turned on wimax even in a wimax area it sucked power. my understanding is the wimax used a separate chip and thus drew more power where as LTE is built in and uses no real extra power
Ive fully charged the phone twice so far and both times Ive gotten around 23hours of use. Thats with moderate usage of texts, facebook, internet, and the addicting yet battery killing game Crime City. I bet if I didnt play that game I could easily get a day and a half.
For reference, my OG evo battery would be dead in about 6 hours doing the same exact stuff. Granted, I was on the original 2 year old battery.
I've used the crap out of my phone the last two days and my phone has lasted all day and then some. Yesterday I was in an area that had no service and I was taking pictures all day and my battery was at 40 percent after 15 hours of heavy use.

My battery is amazing I still have 70% after 8 hrs. Try downloading bad ass battery monitor it's great. I also use battery level to keep my screen at 25% and not auto brightness or nothing. The other saving tips could be obvious, no vibration on anything, wifi if possible, not many widgets running, syncing. I always turn my 3G/mobile network off when I leave the house I just turn it on when I'm checking FB, Twitter stuff like that

+1 for gsam, great app.
What does it matter what his current screen time is? Two people just told you they get 5 hours of constant screen time and 3 hours would be a bare min with hard hard gaming and tasks. For what this phone is, it does fantastic for its battery.
And if you are spending 5 hours staring at your phone you may just be an inrovert. Lets think about this, if you spend 5 hours glued to your phone, thats 20% of your day blocking off everything around you. Thats alot of things to miss out on.
Is that 5 hour mark achievable with just LTE and no WiFi?
I get a full day (17ish hours I am awake) with at least 3hrs screen on and will goto bed with at least 20% charge left.
edit: I also have 4g and wifi on throughout the day - never turning either of them off.
The battery life has a lot to do with your signal coverage.
Take this as an example. For the first few months with the phone I worked in an office with poor signal reception. I mean bad. It would be hunting for even a 1X connection on minute, then showing full bars of 4G the next, just to lose it all 10 minutes later. (It was the building, not the phone). Now I'm in a new office that has excellent 3G coverage (4G seems to come and go, I blame Verizon).
My routine is the same. Unplug at 6:30am, moderate use throughout the day. At the old office I'd be down to 30% or so by lunch (12) and if I didn't charge it I'd die around 5:30pm. At the new office I actually forget to charge it during the day sometimes. It'll last until 8pm. And that's using the phone a good amount during the day.

I don't know about screen time but I'm right over 12 hours off the charger today and have 53% left. Most days I have between 25% and 35% left when I put it on the charger at night after 16 hours. No wifi, LTE on and auto brightness. Only had to charge it twice before the end of the day.
I will install GSam though. I'm interested to see what my actual screen time is.

That's a little higher than normal for me, for example, today I'm at 15 hours and have 14% left.
On days where I use my screen a lot I get less.
The other night I was working on some late night research and my phone was plugged in and I noticed the charging light turn green. Knowing I had at least 5 more hours to go before I was done, I un plugged it, put on Netflix over 4G, streaming some hd movie my kids watch, since Dr Seuss about trees. Anyway, i let it play at full brightness and recorded the time and percent. It died at right around 5.5 hours.
I ended up using the best fit line (linear approx) and wrote a model of battery life as a function of screen tine, brightness, and 4g vs wifi. I'll see if I am find it.
But over 5 hours is pretty respectable though. I was impressed.

Note 8 battery life

Tell me how much SOT yall are getting. Or battery life overall.

Great phone love it so far.

I don't know what my SOT is but I am getting a full day out of it. I had to charge my Note 5 halfway through the day.
I came over from an S8 plus and the battery life seems the same. I was very impressed with the S8 plus battery life and was worried with the smaller battery but I am getting almost the same exact as with the S8 plus. Much better battery life than when I had the Note 7.
I will let yall know today since it will be my first full day on a full charge.

I can only say it's definitely better than the s7 edge lol. No complaints here!

18hrs 4.5hrs SOT at 13%.
My average is decent lol. If you aren't getting the best life then turn off the background stuff (Wi-Fi, blue tooth, etc.)
EDIT** I just realized all my stuff was reset. Sorry lmao
I love the device but battery, like every samsug device, is basically awful for me. I am a heavy user, but I'm at 48% after only 3 hours. I think that's garbage. For the life of me don't understand why it isn't a little thicker with a 4800mah battery. It's what this device needs. It's like a Ferrari with enough fuel to go 30 miles.
BTW I also have a mate 9 (fabulous device) and that lasts 16 hours with me.
True it has a lower res screen but has a 4000mah battery.
I'm looking forward to the mate 10.

That's what I'm saying. I came from the 7 plus which lasted me all day. It has lower resolution but regardless the note8 has been dubbed as a media power house. As someone who uses it hours upon hours, it gets a little annoying having to charge it by 5 pm. I'm loving it though. That's my only complaint. Definitely never getting an apple device again
This was yesterday. The day before I had 6hr of OST.

I thought the same thing until I used s8+ and it lasted me all day and still had 30% when I went to bed and I'm also a power user. Hopefully the note 8 will impress when it gets here

My battery life has been great. I don't use AOD, no Bluetooth, alot of WiFi, brightness at about 75% and max screen resolution... much better than my old but still great note 4

Sharing my battery usage after my first full charge. Played around it the whole day after I got the unit. Installed and setup each app, etc. Im satified overall with the battery life coming from S7 Edge.

So you'd be perfectly happy with a 2000mah battery? Of course size is an issue! Gf tells me this daily.
But you're right in that user plays a big part. I'm sure some just stay on the home screen to post their amazing sot
