[BOOT] Clean Moboot Splashes - TouchPad Themes and Apps

Here are a few splashes for moboot that I created. These splashes appear when you select webOS/Android option in the moboot uImage chooser. To install, just place in /boot directory. Be sure to backup the original images [If you forget just PM me and I will give you the originals].
Things to note:
- If you are using Cyanogenmod instead of AOKP please change the name of the android boot image to:
moboot.splash.CyanogenMod.tga [The .tga is the extension, and should NOT be part of the filename]'
- I might do one for ClockworkMod and TWRP later if/when I feel like it
- Feel free to modify these to your liking
- I am aware that the android splash has the honeycomb logo, not ics. Feel free to change it if you want, but I find the honeycomb logo looks better as a splash.

Thanks! Does anyone know of a way to hide the black debug text that comes on the upper left side when you select a uImage?

Hi.
My touchpad is showing sooo many images
1. The OLD "HP" logo on bootup
2. A Custom moboot cyanogenmod tga
3. The OLD Cyanogenmod image
4. Bootloader
My Questions :
why are "2" and "3" different, and how can I change "3" to be "2" so that it looks consistent?
can "1" be changed to the HP logo provided by you? (I guess not though...)

[Q] 2nd Splash Screen

Hi all,
I have a question about the 2nd splash screen (commonly seen with the 'gtablet' logo on it). How can you change this image?
I am currently on BL1.2 using latest GTabComb ROM.
My startup sequence is:
1 - Nvidia TABLETMODZ Logo
2 - Black Screen with orange/yellow word ANDROID in capitals, small and to the left.
3 - ANIMATION: White background green ANDROID word gets punched out
4 - Lockscreen.
When i tried the Illuminate and Flashback ROMs the other day i noticed they have their own personalised 2nd splash screen. Any reason why GTabComb doesnt?
How can i change that?
Thanks
There is a whole forum called "G Tablet Themes and Apps" where you could've checked first before posting.
Oh really?
Wow ill be sure to check that out. Thanks for all your help...
Does anyone else know where I can find some info on this? I searched the different gtab forums and the themes section BEFORE I posted topic, but couldn't find anything. Anyone got a link maybe?
Cheers.

Found this guide a few months ago:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876488
However, I was using cm7 at the time and when you extract the boot.img files, you dont end up with similar named files as guide says. So I was unable to get it to work.
I will try it with gtabcomb rom and see how it goes.

Hey,
Thanks for the reply. Yeah those How-Tos are just for The 1st boot Logo and the animation (Screens 1 & 3 of boot sequence). Im after a way to change the 2nd screen which normally has the 'gtablet' logo. Thanks though!
I tried this again: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876488
Using the GTabComb 3.3 beta ROM.
But, i got errors in the terminal when trying to repack the boot.img file. Has anyone else done this successfully for this ROM?

Try the attached CWM flashable zip file. I managed to change that 2nd boot logo pretty easily. As the threads in the "Themes and Apps" sub-forum indicate, the /initlogo.rle file has to be changed. For some reason, however, that file doesn't show up in the root directory after the system has booted up.
On a Linux system, you can use rle.sh script in the mk-rle.zip attachment to create an initlogo.rle file from an arbitrary image file. The ImageMagick suite of programs will need to be installed, though, and you'll also have to figure out how to create a signed zip file to replace my initlogo.rle file with yours. There are plenty of guides online for this last step.

2nd Splash screen - WORKS! Finally
Finally got it working thanks to rajeevp for posting the files!
For anyone else interested in how i did it and cant find anything else that works, try the following (Linux system only):
1. Download 2 attachments "mk-rle" and "custom-initlogo.rle-signed.zip" from either this post or rajeevp post (#7)
2. Extract 3 files in "mk-rle" to Desktop
3. Extract 2 folders "META-INF" and "tmp" to Desktop
4. Create image using GIMP Editor 1024x600 pixels Standard RBG
5. Save image as "splash.raw" to desktop selecting RAW Image Data Extension in GIMP when saving
6. Open terminal and cd to Desktop
7. Type
Code:
./to565 -rle < splash.raw > initlogo.rle
8. A "initlogo.rle" file will now be on the Desktop. Copy it into the "tmp" folder replacing the original
9. Select "META-INF" and "tmp" folder and compress to "2ndbootlogo.zip"
10. Connect gtab to PC and copy "2ndbootlogo.zip" to any folder on 14GB filesystem.
11. Restart into Clockworkmod Recovery and "Install zip from sdcard". Navigate to and select 2ndbootlogo.zip file
12. Restart gtab and voila!
Thanks again to rajeevp for the info.

As I mentioned in my post, you have to re-sign the new zip file. I'm surprised that CWM didn't complain when installing an unsigned zip file (or, in this case, a zip file containing an invalid checksum on one of the files).

[HOW TO]Fixing white lines/spots on edges of custom boot animations.

Intro
Ok so I have seems lot of people complaining that some custom boot animations have annoying flickering white lines and spots on the very outside edges. This is easily fixed. This usually only happens with boot animations that are supposed to be the same size as your screen which they technically are but still have a very slight size difference, usually smaller.
The app
The easiest way to fix this is by using the absolute system app which can be downloaded from the android market. You can either download the boot animations from the apps db or you can import them from your sd card. You must be rooted in order to install custom boot animations from absolute system, rom toolbox, root tools or any other app that offers custom boot animations.
Boot animations
In absolute system go to boot animations. From there you can download a boot animation you like or you can import one by pressing the menu button on your phone and selecting boot animation editor and then pressing your phones menu again and select import from sd card. From there you can import any bootanimation.zip that is placed in the root of your sd card.
Editing/Repairing
1. Once you have decided which boot animation you want to install you need to go back into the boot animation editor in absolute system and select the boot animation of your choice.
2. You should now see a screen with all of the png files or pictures that make up the boot animation.
3. Once you see that you must press your phones menu button again and select "edit desc.txt." This will bring up a screen with absolute systems text editor window with the boot animations desc.txt information. It will show the resolution of your device which for the X2 should be 540x960.
4. Go to the boot animations resolution/size line and select it ( it should be the first or second line in the desc.txt file or if its a stock boot animation from your or another device there will be a list describing the contents of the file and how they work. In that case scroll down until you see a number that appears the same as your devices screen size (540x960 or other numbers) and select it.
5. This should bring up a window with the numbers of the size that can be edited. You can now change the size or resolution of the boot animation to fit your screen. In order to assure that there are none of those annoying white lines and spots and that there is no color difference between the darkness of the black background in the bootanimation ( if it has it) and the default darkness of your phone OR in the event that the boot animation you're trying to install has a differently colored background and you don't want any black around the bootanimation here is what you do:
6. change the size of the boot animation NOT to the exact size of your phones screen but to 2 over it (I.e. not 540x960 but to 542x962). This will ensure no white lines/spots, differences in darkness or black surrounding a differently colored boot animation WITHOUT making the boot animation too big to the point that it cuts off parts of the animation.
If any body has any questions about how to change other aspects of a boot animation such as sounds, speed, looping and adding parts just request it in a comment to this thread and I will answer as best I can.

[Q] About Changing CM9 Splash Screen

I was wondering if there was an easy way to change the splash screen on our Touchpads? I'm talking about the small green Cyanogenmod logo that appears before boot. I've changed the splash screen on my myTouch 4G a lot and was hoping to do the same for my Touchpad. I heard a while back that its coded into the kernel and was hoping this was not the case. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Sent from my myTouch 4G using xda app
+1, but it must be hardcoded. Couldnt find it as well
If you extract the nightly with 7-zip, it's in the root of the created folder as moboot.splash.CyanogenMod.tga. Is that the one you are talking about?
EDIT: Added image. I had to convert it to PNG to upload it here, but it is originally a TGA
No, but it`s identical.
I think OP is looking for something like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598427

That is exactly what I was looking for! What did you use to convert to png? And can I use it to convert to tga as well?
I used Paint.Net to convert to PNG, but I don't think it can convert back. The only thing I know for sure that can outup TGA is Illustrator.

I appreciate it! I ended up finding this site that will convert back and forth between a bunch of different file types. I'm going to try to make my own splash next week after I study for the three exams I have on Monday and Tuesday. Thanks for all your help though! Good looking out!
http://www.online-utility.org/image_converter.jsp?outputType=PNG
If you have a mac, Pixelmator can convert any file format to TGA.
EDIT: I don't believe that file is the cyanogen mod loading thing. If you look at this thread I made: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598427 you can see that the moboot.splash.CyanogenMod.tga actually controls the static boot image that displays after the loading, and before the animated boot animation. In cyanogenmod both images are the same, back to back, but in other roms, they are different. In other words, changing that file only gets rid of one part of the Loading splash. I believe that the other is coded into the kernel or something like that, similar to the splashes that appear on phones that tell you the name of the phone.

Go to Plugins on the Paint.NET page and download the package. Then you can create tga files as well.
But if you change the moboot.splash.CyanogenMod you will still have a cyanogen picture with loading letters.

It has to be in the uimage. Notice that if you have both aokp and CM9 uimage files in /boot, depending on which one you click, it at first shows the appropriate logo. So, part 1 in in the umiage and the 2nd part is the .tga file. Then the boot animation.

Is it possible to change the cyanogen mod loading screen that occurs before booting into any rom/recovery?
No

Boot Animations for 2014 moto g

Caution:::: I have today (1-18-2015) heard on the rumor mill that Motorola have used a new binary in the 5.0.2 update, this binary affects the boot animation. In effect it may only allow animations made in an mp4 format to work and causes a system crash if using the old, tried and tested format of frames of jpg's or png's. This of course fits in with Motorola's own animations which are mp4's. I can't vouch for the fact that it may be possible to overcome this by changing permissions but it seems that the new binary will have to be installed. In view of the fact that all my animations up to now are jpg's and png's I would strongly advise you don't install them on a 5.0.2 upgrade. I hope I'm being over cautious but I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through the number of re-sets that I have had to do over the past few days.
I've made a couple of animations for the 2014 moto g so over the next couple of days I'll post them to this thread in case anyone is interested. The usual disclaimer applies i.e. I am not responsible if installing these files causes your house to blow up, your cat to run away or your wife, partner or friend leave you for the next door neighbor.
This first one is CIA themed so I have made a similar bootlogo file in case anyone wants to go the whole way! The two files are easily identifiable by the names.
The "Logo" file is a flashable zip using any custom recovery (TWRP - CWM - Philz).
The animation zip has to be placed manually using any file manager you like.
First - go to ..... /system/media ..... and rename the bootanimation which is there to avoid it being overwritten. You can add the word "old" or "bak" or anything you like.
Second - copy the CIA-Anim.zip file to the folder ...../system/media ..... and then rename it bootanimation.zip
These files will work with KK and Lollipop O/S's and with all versions of moto g 2014 edition.
The PNG file shows you the Logo ..... The GIF file gives you an idea of the animation.
OK here is another one. Same as before all disclaimers apply i.e. house - cat - neighbor.
Logo file is "recovery flashable zip"
Anim file is put into ...../system/media ..... folder
JPG shows how Logo looks ..... GIF gives you an idea of the animation.
OK here is another one. Same as before all disclaimers apply i.e. house - cat - neighbor.
Logo file is "recovery flashable zip"

Here's one for the Marvel Fans.
Usual disclaimer and guidance applies
Logo is flashable in recovery ..... Anim rename and place in /system/media
JPG shows Logo ..... GIF gives idea of Anim
OK as before same disclaimer and guidance apply
Logo file is flashable in recovery ..... Anim file placed in /system/media
At the moment I am holding off from posting any further anims. Before posting I always try out new anims on my own XT1064 to make certain they work and there is no possibility of bootlooping for other users. Since updating to 5.0.2 I have found problems installing new anims i.e. continuous bootlooping causing me several instances of having to factory reset and re-install the update. Until I can determine whether this is a fault on my phone or is caused by the 5.0.2 update I won't post any more. As a possible related issue, I have found that I can no longer make alterations to the "build.prop" file without causing a bootloop and crash.

[LOGO] [BOOTANIMATION] Pixel 2 Device Boot Animation + Splash Logo

So, if anyone wanted to get rid of Mi's splash screen, ugly fastboot screen and bootanimation here's the black themed replacements for logo and bootanimations.
To flash logo, extract logo_pixel.zip and flash from fastboot using
Code:
fastboot flash logo logo_pixel.img
To use bootanimation, backup and replace /system/media/bootanimation.zip with the provided file from TWRP.
DON'T FORGET TO MOUNT SYSTEM BEFORE REPLACING.

Thank you, I have been wanting to change the boot animation but have never got around to it.
I will definitely use this and I will contribute something back ( see attached file) Hopefully other users can contribute to this thread too, so that we have a wide range of options for boot animations and splash screens.
Regarding the attached file : If you want to keep the boot splash, but get rid of the bootloader unlocked message, the attached file will replace the splash image with the original stock splash.

thank you. when I go to / system / media, I already find a bootanimation, before the new bootanimation is transferred to my internal memory, I tried to make copy, bringing the new bootanimation to overwrite the one already present, but it doesn't work, then I tried to flash bootanimation (the one already present in the memory), but failed telling me: zip file corrupt. Thank you. but it is not possible instead of overwriting the default bootanimation, to already improve the present one ??, adding type, color, effect to the Mi logo?

Well I could but white doesn't go well with the notch. The notch area will be black while boot animation is white, so I don't think I'll do it. The thing is it works well in my phone so it's supposed to work on all phones, I don't know and will not know what's wrong with yours.

I did for many times to my Mi8 as follow :
To change bootanimation :
- Install file explorer for root access (for MIUI 11/Android 10, Root Explorer is the best). Tap to "Mount R/W" on Root Explorer
- Find bootanimation.zip file in root/data/system/theme/boots. Backup this file.
- Replace the original bootanimation.zip file with another bootanimation.zip you downloaded before. Don't forget to change permission to -rwxrxrx-
- Reboot
You can also try flash my bootanimation file via TWRP for another choice.
To change bootlogo, I did the simple way :
- Extract the ROM zip file
- Find the logo.img in folder firmware-update and replace it with another logo.img you downloaded before (the name must "logo")
- Archive again the ROM zip
- Flash the ROM zip via TWRP
On PE rom find in :
root/system/system/product/media
