Sound Modes - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok a bit of a embarrassing question
What do all the sound modes mean in settings? I can set my phone to vibrate on silent when a message comes in but cannot get it to vibrate when a call comes in?
Ringtone has gone of when sitting in work and get a few stares
Which setting should I have it on so that it can vibrate in Silent mode when a call comes in and also when a text is received?
Have it set to Sound/Vibrate/Silent but does not vibrate when call comes in?
Have installed app that vibrates when I have an unread message is there one that vibrates phone for missed calls?
Thanks

Have you tried turning the volume key on the phone down (up and down keys on top left of phone) should vibrate then

Below is what I currently have it at

From the photo you have posted I think it should be the bottom setting. The one which says sound/silent. That means the bottom menu is giving you two options : one for sound on only and the other for vibrate only. Try it and let us know. Also when you pull the bar down in your home screen the vibrate option is there next to auto rotate. Problem should be sorted I hope. Peace

is that a serious question?
I use it to change brightness and enable/disable bluetooth when getting into my car.
oops double post.
You do know all of that is available in the drop down tray. Including brightness. Just slide your finger across the tray left and right

not if it's on auto
plus, why not use it.
Maybe the OP doesn't feel like sliding down the notification bar.
To turn on BT I can
1) Hit the button on the power widget on my home screen
or
2) slide down notificiation, hit the BT icon, which opens up the BT settings, click enable BT... then hit back to return to my homescreen.
^ apologies, it just doesn't seem "simple clean" to me.....
"simple clean" is referring to the wallpaper... not the widgets/apps setup
eww, toooo many "samsung" on this phone already. =P
I kind of like it.
+1 to frankencat.
I love the samsung aspect to this phone.

Speakerphone-like always on status bar

Hello everyone. I have a problem that started a couple days ago.
On the status bar it s an icon that looks like speakerphone is on, and it s there always.
I searched a bit, but I do not have the "speakerphone issue, meaning that when I answer a call, all goes normally. Also when I activate the speakerphone during in call , 2 icons appear and they are slightly different.
The only way it goes away it's when I enter the call settings, but it reappeares seconds later.
Here are some screenshots.

Looks like you have WiFi calling enabled, disable Wifi and tell me does it disappear? Its weird as you don't have all the WiFi calling symbols.

Same for me... I'm using an s9. I've been woken up several times because of it. I use both DND and turn sounds to silent now. It's my first Android phone after having many years of iPhones and I'm starting to regret the switch. Such a simple thing to not have QAd before release..
Seems to be working fine for me. The only notifications sounds I get with DND set to custom are alarms.
Looking at your screenshot, it looks like you've told DND to allow notifications from apps. Try turning off the "Allow reminders" option and see what happens.
I have no exceptions, including turning off alarms, and calls still very through intermittently

Have you got DC dimming on, if so try turning it off.
That definitely doesn't look like what dc dimming would do, and in fact, it looks like a software issue, since the status bar is completely fine. It looks to me that some screen filtering app is effecting the screen's contrast. It might be misbehaving (doesn't turn off when it's supposed to), or installed and set up by another person other than the OP. Try finding in app drawer/home screen apps with titles including "blue light filter" "night" or "dimmer," then uninstall it (we already got that night mode toggle in our device settings, which is 1000 times better than these apps that screw up contrast, so we definitely won't need any kind of blue light filter app).
Try booting in safe mode and see if the issue persist:
- Shutdown your device
- Boot it by holding the power button and the volume up button
This should disable all filtering services etc. that could change the screen colour. If it doesn't fix the issue, a factory reset would be a good choice. If that doesn't help, it probably is a hardware defect.

Question Is it possible to disable notification vibration from all apps except calls and messages?

I was taking a nap yesterday and had my Galaxy S22 right next to me. Right before I fell asleep, it vibrated. Which app as it? It was weather! Weather for ****s sake! I disabled vibration on it but would like to do for all other apps except for calls and messages.

Yes. Settings -> Notifications ->
Tap more and toggle off the apps you want to stop notifications for.
You can also set up Do not disturb and have only phone calls get through or phone calls from numbers you set as favorites.
I use the Do not disturb function. I set it up to turn on at a certain time in the evening and turn off at a certain time in the morning. The only notifications I allow are for contacts that are in my favorites.
I want it so when DND is off, vibration is off for all apps including phone and messages, but when it's off, only those two apps vibrate. Is there a way to just make all apps not vibrate and with exceptions?
Edit: I got a solution from this Reddit comment. I created this rule with the BuzzKill app. I tested it using a notification tester, making notifications when the rule was on and off. I also checked if calls and messages would vibrate with do no disturb off, and silence with DND off (which I want it to), and it does.
