I ran into the same problem. Here is what I did to get Skype to work.
Background - G-Tablet running Android 2.3.7 (Kernel cyanogenmod 2.6.32.48)
Removed Skype that I downloaded from the Play Store
Install version 16 from here (Great job on this version by the way)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1148708
Go to menu-advanced settings and check the following:
Force-enable video-calling Enable video-calling on your device! - check
Force camera rotation Should enable camera rotation functionality! - check
Avoid setFPS Black video? Bive this a try.. - check
If you find that you now have video, but the rotation is off, go to the regular settings of the table and make sure all of the degrees of rotation are checked.
Good Luck

idk if those custom roms can do that, i m running stock rom, and i can do video calls, by skype with no problem.

[Q] (Q) Calkulin+Clemson 1.5 ghz version 5 video trouble

I have installed the calkulin+clemson v5 combo and it works great....Super fast and stable. However, whenever I'm browsing the web and come across a video, the browser crashes. Doesn't matter which browser (the default or dolphin HD.) The whole reason I have a Gtab is to browse the internet, so not have internet videos on this rom is a killer. For example, an embedded youtube video will make browser crash but using youtube app on same video will work fine. Any local video playback is also fine. If no one can help me this can someone recommend a better rom for ONLY browsing the web and sometimes (rarely) playing local videos? Thanks for any help!

Can't speak specifcally about v5 (which is bl1.1 branch), but I am running calkulin+clemson combo v6(bl 1.2 branch) and I have no problems. I can view any flash video from any site; Neflix, Youtube, Hulu, Amazon Videos, Crackle, etc (except Neflix & Crackle from their apps) from the default browser). Have you downloaded the lastest Flash?
It won't let me install flash 10.3 probably because of some compatibility issues. I'll check out version 6, wish me luck 'jumping the gap.'
Could someone link me to the proper way to go from bl 1.1 to 1.2?

If I rememeber correctly, I couldn't do a direct upgrade either...had to uninstall 10.2 then install 10.3
Wow aabbandanza. I just finished installing bl 1.2 clemsyn caulakin Ver 6. And I checked to make sure the embedded videos didn't crash my browser and it crashes . I came back here to post my depressed thoughts and I see that you had first uninstalled 10.2 and then downloaded/installed 10.3. Well, I did that and videos now work! I was turned off by doing something like that because in the release notes the OP mentions that flash VER 10.2.x.x.x would come pre-installed and I figured that I shouldn't mess with that version because it was the only one that would work....silly me. Thanks for solving my problem. Moving to BL 1.2 was totally unnecessary. I could have taken the 30 seconds to uninstall and re-install flash for the same effect! Thanks guys!

[Q] Youtube Not working in HQ mode Nightly 177

Does anyone have the problem or have a solution to the problem of YouTube not playing when in HQ mode on the Nook Color in Nightly 177? The error message I get is "There was a problem while playing Touch to retry". Turning off the HQ mode while holding sideways let's me watch in the lower resolution. I finally updated from over 100 nightlies ago where HQ did work but had the battery drain issue...
Thanks
~J
Got the problem as well. You can go to YouTube on the web to watch better quality videos.
Oh, and by the way, it does seem to play some HQ videos.
I am having this same problem.any fix yet?
What version of YouTube are you running? I was having issues with 2.2.14, so I'm running an older apk, see this thread for the download info;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1209653&page=3&highlight=youtube
ok I have found the solution for that.
Use the YouTube apk that is in the manualnooter 4-6-16 using rootexplorer just extract it and install it on top of whatever version you have.
FYI I think its version 2.1.6 .

Skype update 9/29 - any support for Gtab?

It looks like Skype was updated to support more phones and tablets. Anyone try on their gTab yet?
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/09/2...ed-no-supports-the-bionic-droid3-and-tablets/
Mine is unfortunately at home and also running HC. I'll need to flash a Froyo or Ginger rom to test the camera.

I tried VeganTab 7.1 (GB 2.3.5) ... it lets me turn it on and lets me try to have a video call, but I simply get a black/blank screen and no video sent.
I've tried this with the latest Mountain Laurel. I haven't actually had it connect when I called (they weren't online) but my face did show up on the screen... it was rotated 90 degrees clockwise.

Skype video on G-Tablet

Are there any roms that will work with skype video?
Brilliant corners or C&C should work.there is an existing thread in the Apps section re Skype - C&C looks like the best bet
Any links to "C&C" ? I found Brilliant Corners but no luck on C&C.
Thanks for your help.

Calkulin + Clemsyn. Version 7 is the most recent, and requires bootloader 1.2. I am still using Version 5, which is the last version that supports bootloader 1.1. Link below to its thread.
Skype with video works very well on it. I use it almost daily now to Skype with family and friends. I heard Version 7 works well with Skype, too, but I have not tried it.

That sounds like a winner.
For what it's worth, Skype force closes every time I attempt to open it with BC, but ran fine on C&C
I'm running the latest beasty rom and Skype works with video. The image is upside down but it may be something i change in the settings.
Sent from my Adam using xda premium
G tablet cyanogenmod 7.1.0.1
Theos0o skype 2.5.108 v12 beta partially works. Outgoing video perfect.(avoid set fps, in advanced settings). Incoming video, is hit and miss, so far. Waiting for v13 apk.....

[Q] Youtube videos in browser maximized black screen bug in 4.4.4, not in 4.3

I have i9305. On all the custom Android 4.4.4 ROMs i tried i cannot play YouTube videos in browsers properly. The sound works, but graphics are bugged:
In Android browser:
Playing the video shows it as black screen with the Youtube text copied in the middle (see attached screenshot). Maximizing results in black screen, but which shows a video frame when phone orientation changes or screnshot is taken.
Navigating away from the video results in browser crash.
In Chrome:
Playing the video works nicely even with graphics, but maximizing again shows black screen, also briefly working on screen update (phone rotated etc).
Navigating away again results in browser crash.
Youtube app works fine, but i am afraid the bug might show for another site / game. I didnt install any Flash manually, so i think the problem is with HTML 5 support. When i reverted to 4.2.2 or used stock samsung 4.3 everything worked as it should.
So is it a problem with i9305 only or with Android 4.4.4? Or should i flash a new kernel or something? Thanks for info.
I do have the same issue on my GT I9300. I even tried a Lollipop ROM but the issue is still there. If anyone knows where is it come from

It seems to be an asop error. Get a mod to move this to the 9305 area for more help with your model.
Have you solved the problem?
