2011 Xperia Forum Organisation - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I posted some comments about the organisation of the 2011 Xperia forums at the end of my long post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24907617#post24907617
It would be interesting to get some more opinions over there as this would affect all 2011 Xperia model owners.
PS: Please also help us Xperia Pro owners out by voting too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416406

I agree, it's a very good and well thought idea.
A first step would be to make a Xperia Pro development section in the neo forums, because you guys have no forum now.
I know how it feels, when I first had my neo, we had all development in the Arc section (which I still visit frequently). It was much harder to search for stuff meant for your phone.
Is there anything else we can do besides voting? I will post something for Poyensa, our mod, to be read.

i voted on Xperia Pro, Good Luck mate, i hope they will start the topic

thankyou, I will send to the Admins of the site for consideration. Just one thing, does it means that PRO & NEO & NEO V is quite similar and can share forums, just adding a subsection for 'rom development for XPERIA PRO' ass is already done for XPERIA NEO V?

Hello,
This post addresses a problem for Xperia pro owners about not having a dedicated section. I think you will understand how difficult that makes it for developers to share their work properly. Therefore, I'd like to ask you to consider making a "Xperia Pro development" section within the Neo forums, similar to the previously added Neo V section. More arguments for this are in the post I linked to.
Thanks in advance.

On the other thread I also posted two alternative reorganisation proposals. It would be good to get input on these:

Or perhaps as an alternative to the simple reorganisation what about this for a much much more logical organisation into two main sections for 2011 devices?:
*2011 Xperias (Arc/Arc S/Neo/Neo V/Pro/Ray/PLAY) [all based on Qualcomm MSM8255, 512MB RAM, 480 x 854, 1500 mAh battery]
___2011 Xperias General
___2011 Xperias Q&A
___2011 Xperias Themes and Apps
___Arc / Arc S Chat & Accessories [BA750 battery]
___Neo/Neo V/Pro/Ray Chat & Accessories [BA700 battery]
___Xperia PLAY Chat & Accessories [BST-41 battery]
___2011 Xperias General Development
______Xperia Arc Development
______Xperia Arc S Development
______Xperia Neo Development
______Xperia Neo V Development
______Xperia Pro Development
______Xperia Ray Development
______Xperia PLAY Development
*2011 Xperia Minis (Mini/Mini Pro/Active/Live With Walkman) [all based on Qualcomm MSM8255, 512MB RAM, 320 x 480, 1200 mAh battery, "four corners" UI]
___2011 Xperia Minis General
___2011 Xperia Minis Q&A
___2011 Xperia Minis Themes and Apps
___2011 Xperia Minis Accessories
___2011 Xperia Minis General Development
______Xperia Mini Development
______Xperia Mini Pro Development
______Xperia Active Development
______Xperia Live With Walkman Development
This might be a bit trickier to reorganise than the simple reorganisation, but once done would be much more logical and is more in line with what is common and what is different between models. Note that the "2011 Xperias General Development" section is intended to be a full forum and the main place for developer discussion (i.e. a full forum, not merely a navigational sub-section).

X10 Mini / X10 Mini Pro separate section

Good evening MODS.
Is it possible to have a new separate section for SE X10 mini / X10 mini pro, just like existing separate sections for HTC HD Mini or HTC Wildfire (that seems to be an HTC Desire Mini)?
This way, we'll have less confusion (no more x10 mini/pro topics in X10 threads) and maybe devs could be more interested in rooting our mini-jewel.
I think I'm asking it on behalf of many users of this marvellous forum...
Thanks in advance.
So we have 7 pages here and 8 pages here full of people asking for a separate section for X10 mini / mini pro / X8.
ADMINS, don't you think it's time to open it?
If this gets us anywhere:
I STRONGLY agree
Sony Ericsson X10 mini, X10 mini pro, X8 – *has similar hardware and it isn't X10!!
Please separate.
We need our thread.
still relevant
X10 mini ≠ X10
X10 mini != X10
I totally agree. Would be nice for rooting work on those devices to have them seperated
Regards
Bin4ry
Thanks Bin4ry for your attention.(I catch the moment to tell you how much i respect you and your work... you gave hope to all x10 owners)
Now that THE Dev who gave us X10 root spoke, i think that this separate section must be done (please )
I'm curious to see if there are enough users of the X10 Mini to warrant a forum. I've heard it's a pretty neat device, but it doesn't seem like that are too many owners. We'd prefer not to use up forum index space if the forum in question will be used by a few people.
Can I can some seconds, thirds, fourths, etc on this? =D
One way to make sure of the usefulness of a separate forum (which could involve not only X10 mini but also X10 mini pro and X8 -> same hardware = same section = less forum space to sacrify -> but also 3 phones = 3 x users) is trying to open it. As you can see there are many threads opened in X10 forum relating X10 mini/pro and many x10 mini owners around the www are asking themselves why ever they don't deserve a place to talk about their phone.
Moreover, maybe now there are not so many x10 mini owners, but consider also upcoming x10 mini pro (phisical qwerty keyboard equipped x10 mini) and x8 owners and i have realized that there are forum about upcoming phones (i.e. htc wildfire) and nobody cares about the amount of owners which is moreover incalculable for the moment.
Finally, look at Byn4ry's post... (Bin4ry... X10 root... do you remember?)
Thanks for your attention
Regards,
hdhtc
There are many users of 10 mini, but ignore them in the thread for X10 and it is not surprising – X10 mini is a completely different phone and a software and hardware.
Low cost phone + sexy design + lightweight + small size = lot of interested users.
Also X10 mini/pro and X8 has unique accessory and new expansion jack.
X10 mini has many new and interesting software and unique "one finger touch" interface.
I note also that there are already 3 phones on this platform.
I will not speak for everyone, but I tried to resolve the issue in other forums.
But there are alternatives xda-developers gone!
Yes I also hope for a x10 mini /x10 mini pro forum.....
It will make it easyer to read tropic about our phones
After all, the x10mini forum wouldn't require a lot of space, beeing all mini and all
and of course there are already subforums for rather obscure devices....kin...kin2...
+1 for mini/mini pro section
The most obvious reason for a separate forum is that it is a completely separate device. It's not just a smaller screen but a different cpu and architecture. Not having separate forums for them would be more like grouping the HTC Diamond with the HTC HD than grouping say HTC Magic 32A and 32B.
Just my 2 cents, I don't even own an X10 mini.
This is one of the greatest forums I have ever encountered.
+1 for the Mini/Mini Pro section
3 devices on the same platform x10 mini/pro and x8. Of course there is a great need to separate from X10.
+1 for the X10 Mini/X10 Mini Pro/X8 section
Not need to completely separate.
Maybe can do that:

+1000000 For!
X10 MINI has the right to a separate section. This is a very good phone, although you can and do not like.
You can not compare the X10 with the X10 mini. They have in common with each other the same name and nothing more. This is a completely different phones. It is not good to offend as little at school)
X10 mini is worthy separate thread. As well as root)) Especially root)
Please separate thread, I love my phone and hope that dev could root it ! Thanks for all

[MINI PRO][MINI][ACTIVE] New XPERIA mini (ST15) / mini pro (SK17) forum

Hi!
Thanks svetius: we have separate forum for our devices. All relative threads will be moved here.
Please, use appropriate tags when starting new threads (only if the thread is device-specific):
[MINI PRO][SK17] for mini pro
[MINI][ST15] for mini
[ACTIVE] for active
Don't forget that there's "i" and "a" versions of the devices, e.g. SK17i and SK17a, which are a little bit different in baseband. If the thread is about particular version add appropriate letter to model tag (SK17i instead of SK17 etc).
For example:

so please create forum for SK17i and SK15i...
thx...
i'm agree with you, sooner people will start to discuss about xperia mini / pro.
we need new subforum for better place to discuss and also develop this phone. so we didn't post in wrong subforum.
agree too...
Agreed!
Definitely need a forum because it's hard searching for info regarding the Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro due to the fact that the name is near identical to its predecessor.

yup, this phone is mini but powerfull
I had bought SK17i. It was very good device for me.
I agree
I've got a new SK17i
I haven't bough it yet, but I want to bough it in few days later and it would be good if we had a forum for X10 Xperia Mini II (SK17).
cheers
New forum would be awesome! the sk17 is a damn nice little phone!
Should this thread be a poll to get numbers / worth of potential new forum? otherwise it just feels like spamming.
Have also recently purchased sk17i.

Xperia Neo L, Sony's First ICS Phone

UPDATE 5-30-2012
The Sony Mobile website has updated with not only the Xperia acro S and Xperia go, but also the Neo L. Worldwide release soon?
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/phones/xperia-neo-l/
Sony announced the Xperia Neo L for China on March 20. This would've been the first Sony phone to release with ICS.
Specs: 4 inch screen, 854x480 resolution, 512 MB of RAM, 1 GHz processor, and a 5 MP camera on rear. There's also a front facing camera.

Thoughts?
The processor and camera could have been higher.. A Dual core processor and atleast 8mp cam would have been great..
So this is Neo replacement in 2012 series ? not impressed tbh
But this could mean that ICS for our Neo is really really close, because the specs are the same.
Sent from my MT15a using XDA
Its a Neo replacement for sure
Yes, it really looks like an "updated" NEO...
Ok updated might be wrong, nearly same speccs....
looks like a facelifting
It looks great, but 512 ram, not so good..
I would still stick with my neo!
Neo V looks better to me!
Scratched from my Xperia Neo V !
If we can get the firmware, we can finally have the original 2012 widgets and apps on ICS ROMs
I think this is basicly xperia play being sold as xperia neo without the play buttons

Yea. Problem is these Neo /v they are mid range devices that are sold for people who want a good make but affordable Android phone because as I said before when some one says Android they normal say HTC or Samsung galaxy but forget about all the other devices that are Android.

I must say it looks awfull.
rgly
from NEO
gr8 looks but 5mp and 512 ram and single core now y d hell i will sell my neo and go for neo L.if it was deual core 8mp camera and 1gb ram would hav been gr8.
512 MB of RAM, 1 GHz processor, and a 5 MP camera on rear....
hmmmm...just a neo v with ICS...! nothing more i guess...
Why do you people expect that every phone need to have dual core, >5MP, xxxxxMB's of ram and all kind of BS??
All manufactures need to make all range phones.
This one is simply a re-design, and it will be bought by people who don't need to do some crazy things on phone that they need state of the art hardware.
I like how they design it, maybe it's not top model by looking but it will sure be nice to hold it.
True that ^

Sony on Amazing Spiderman

Hi there,
First im sorry, maybe is not that important. But i curious on The amazing spiderman, Peter uses Xperia phone. But what model is that?
the model is similar x10 mini pro with three push buttons, not xperia mini pro with one push button and 2 touch buttons. But the label is SONY, not SonyEricsson, so it is brand new model. So, what model probably it is?
And the Android version, what kind of series is that? its quitely different with Gingerbread or even ICS. Is that donut or eclair? or custom ROM from xda?
Thanks.
Is there a video of that part on youtube or something?

Hi there
Can we expect any AOSP bases ROMs in the future for this device such as CyanogenMod?
It would be great to have after Sony decides to end the support for this device. They ended support for C5 ultra just after one update! From android 5 go 6. I hope they don't end the support for this device after Nougat!
Thanks in advance.

Highly unlikely to get any further than Nougat that's for sure and I bet that is late. I also expect that they'll have little or no custom rom support, they ain't even in Sony's open devices project due to being mediatek devices.

Sad to see such limited support on the XA Ultra
Hi again
On the Sony USA website it states that the XA Ultra is compatible with their UCH10 charger which is the equivalent of QUALCOMM Quick Charge 2.0- this would apparently allow "5.5 hours of battery life in just 10 minutes" http://www.sonymobile.com/us/products/phones/xperia-xa-ultra/
However, on their UK site, it says that the XA Ultra is compatible with their UCH12 charger which is equivalent of QUALCOMN Quick Charge 3.0 and also MediaTek® Pump Express Plus™ 2.0 - this should allow for the same "5.5 hours of battery life in just 10 minutes"
http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/products/phones/xperia-xa-ultra/
When I plugged the phone into a QC 2.0 portable charger it briefly detected the device as quick charging then showed normal 2amp charging.
Does this phone have Quick Charge 2.0 compatibility or QC 3.0? or is it just the MediaTek pump charging support?
Thanks in advance

Not as far as I know, though I did notice when I installed bravia engine, x-reality and supervivid to my previous xperia a rooted m2 that the bravia engine did improve the quality of the screen in general all the time no matter what you were looking at it wasn't a huge difference but it was certainly noticeable compared to a stock m2 screen.

I'll have to check into rooting then because XA Ultra's screen is capable of stunning vivid bright colors with Bravia Mode. It's really dumb that Sony won't let it be a setting on a phone whose major strength is the screen.
