I didn't know there were ROMs for that kernel.... I use Eclipse on the 2.3.5 kernel and it is the best on the X2.

I got the sbf in the developement thread, it was posted under the roms, root, etc. etc.? In that list i only see a couple roms offered and was just wondering if their were any more?
Alright I will reiterate because maybe im confused. I SBF'd to android version 2.3.3 system version 1.3.232, kernal version 2.6.32.9. Now what roms are available for me?

Well there were several eclipse releases for that build but I highly doubt anyone has access to them. Hosting for old roms isn't a priority. Honestly you are better off upgrading your build and kernel. 2.3.3 wasn't the most stable

You can do cm7dx2 with the 2.3.4 or eclipse 2.1 with the 2.3.5 update
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium

I hear great things about eclipse is it very stable? And I would have to sbf to 2.3.5. How do I root that version?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA

If you update to 2.3.4 then eclipse 1.3 is very stable! Let me know if you need a link. You can always save root with voodoo root keeper free app and just take the OTA.
I would also strongly using the rerecovery zips as well to always flash last before you reboot in bsr. If you are not sure what I mean I will post a link.

Yea Travis a link would be great so 2.3.4 is what I should sbf to and i have rootkeeper already but was just wondering what the root method was? Psouza has a method for that right.

Rootkeeper isn't necessary for 2.3.4. It could actually cause problems with flashing the rom. Use Pete's one click.

Indeed we can help. You can flash cm7, eclipse 1.3, liberty (its not all that great), and molten rom. I recommend eclipse for stability and cm7 for customization. All you will need to do is install the bootstrap recovery and use it to make a backup of your stock rom. Then wipe data, cache, and dalvic cache. Then flash the rom of your choice. Cm7 requires a few extra steps but we can cross that bridge of we get to it.
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium

Yea I think eclipse is my choice, seems the most stable. I'm not sure about the step by step process for doing this I would like a detailed walkthrough for this it would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a 2.3.3 version of Eclipse? Let me know which version you want to use.
Here is a skeleton walkthrough just to give you an idea:
Make sure your device is rooted
Download the appropriate version of Clockwork Recovery abbrev. (CWR)
Download the rom of your choice and any other zips you need and make sure they are on you EXTERNAL sd card (very important but DO NOT freak out if forget, these things can be fixed
Install CWR from inside the app labeled System Recovery
Your system will reboot into CWR.
Whilst in CWR you want to wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache and System Data
(things will be muy poopy if you dont wipe sys data and Cache; Dalvik not so much)
You would then proceed to 'install zip' --> 'install from SD card'
Find the zips need to flash the rom, let everything work, go back to the CWR home menu (the first one you saw)
Hit 'Reboot device now' and bam, you just flashed your first rom!!!
For future reference: When a developer or anyone for that matter says you have to flash a zip file, the above process is what you would follow; sans wiping the Big Three (Cache Dalvik Cache and Sys Data) though some zips may require to wipe one of three and the poster will tell you which one.
Once you decide which rom you want to flash, Ill give you a more specific walkthrough.

im on 2.3.4 now and want to go with eclipse. That seems to be for me from what ive read. I have read i should do a nand backup but do i have to do that even though im only rooted with no rom? And you mentioned a more detailed walkthrough that sounds great, the noob frendlier the better.lol

The first thing you want to do is upgrade to 2.3.5. That is the kernel you need to be in in oder for Eclipse to work.
You really always want to nandroid when you are installing something semi big. You'll save root and time if something messes up. Do you know how to nandroid? It takes about 15 minutes to do

No I've never nandroided, not really sure how. And can u walk me through the process of doing the 2.3.5 update

Im checking it out right now..the way it has worked on other phones i have had is that you rename it to update.zip and load it in stock recovery
I think you would just flash it like an ordinary rom using the recovery but not sure
Edit: apparently you need to rename it update.zip and flash it in stock recovery

Yep, works fine here. Go into SU, clear the allow privileges for it, and try again.
System recovery app works the exact same. Make sure you plug into wall charger first and hit "install", then enter recovery the same as we did on froyo.

Sounds like you updated to gingerbread using motorola method.
You should look at that thread for sbf to 2.2 and using p3's gingerbread. That's the only way to get gb and maintain root access at the same time.

Ok how to upgrade to gb on a unlocked bl on 4.1.26

Ok so I was scared to unlock my newer atrix. That. Was already gb so I have a spare atrix with a slightly cracked screen that I figured I would try and do. So I unlocked it no problems but now dnt no how to safely update to gb from a unlocked atrix running on 4.1.26 so I can start flashing roms or can I do it right on this version thanks for the help in advancd

if you have unlocked BL you should be able to flash any rom. as long as the rom image contains all contents you should be able to just flash it.
to go to stock 2.3.4 use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163342&page=1
it wont update your BL though - if you want to do that I think you'd have to sbf a pudding, but I'm not sure.
So the alien rom and cherry one can b flashed to my phone even thou im running on 4.1.26

Use a custom recovery to run a nandroid backup. I like CWM and you can flash it using rom manager. Im still running stock rom because I don't think the custom roms are good enough but you have to decide what you prefer. Try them both.
Jim, your best bet would be to flash CWM recovery by following these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138541
Once you've done that you can flash to any rom you choose. The recovery installed by ROM manager, from my understanding, isn't a FULL recovery suite.
I personally like Nav's work on the cherry series.
One other thing you might want to keep in mind with most of these new rom's is what radio you're using AND whether or not you have an international phone.
There is a good post about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009
I've been trying to keep up on all these developments too and it can be difficult.... Good luck and anymore questions, don't hesitate to ask.
i like the alienv3 with alien theme and faux123 oc kernal

when you've backed up with TB, just re-install TB and all your stuff should still be there to restore. it stores it on the SD card.

Oo ya I know I'm trying to flash the new ics leak on the razr but there's a special way to do it you don't flash it the traditional way you have to sideload the ROM in a less traditional matter which is probably the scariest part of it all to me I suppose. You really need to search and find the information so you can understand what to do if you get in trouble somewhere. You want to put the leaked official ICS on your phone, that is what I am understanding? If you do, this is what you need to do.

There are two different sites that you will need to get links from. Read this thread and everything about it if you want the official/unofficial leak for ICS.

Do as the thread says to do. It can't be any easier than that. If you don't understand the process, don't do it. Why do you keep asking questions when it is completely laid out? I understand you might be a little nervous but the process is easy. I recommend updating the driver just in case as I had issues using the utility until I did. Hope this helps and I am sure if you have fully read that thread, you will be fine.
Ok :s and my drive are up to date just did updates about a week ago. One more question though, do I need any specific files in order to use the utility to get back to .744?

Agreed that all the info is in the thread, but here :
Based on the fact that you said you were on Eclipse 1.3 prior.
-Backup SMS messages to SD card, backup all apps and data with Titanium Backup, make sure to copy the directory to your SD card (to be safe).
-Fastboot back to .173, root, install voodoo rootkeeper, DO NOT install either safestrap or bootstrap with the Batman utility.
-make sure you update superuser in the market before you save with voodoo (to 3.0.3.2 or something like that)
-restore apps from TB and SMS from backup (the ICS update doesn't wipe data, so however you have your screens setup is the way they will be in ICS)
-save root
-copy ICS files (both .zip and .crc) to /cache directory
-install Rom Manager, but don't setup saying you have CWM installed, just install the .apk
-(here is where my option differs from original article) Using Root Explorer, nav to /cache dir, long press on .zip file. Now RE gives you some options, choose open with, then under general options select Open with default
-this will open ROM Manager, asking if you want to reboot into recovery.... Yes
-once it goes into 3e recovery press both vol buttons to see status.
-enjoy ICS
I followed these instructions (the original OP):
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/1635-successfully-sideloaded-the-ics-leak/
I didn't roll all the way back to 744, and it worked fine. Just make sure you're on stock 173 (aforementioned Bat Man utility (aka: Matts tool).

[Q] Help! MIUI Install

My Photon is rooted, unlocked, CWM 5.0.2.8, Running CM 7 NIGHTLY 7/22. I wanted to switch to MIUI 2.7.27 Official Port for the Photon. Downloaded the Zip and GAPPS for the ROM, Nandroid Backup, Cleared Data/Factory Reset, Formated /Data, /System, /Cache, Cleared Delvik Cache and The Flashed The MIUI zip TWICE... went REALLY fast only showed MIUI Logo froze and then said rom completed. Flashed The Gapps and Rebooted... it stayed on the Motorola logo with Unlocked on the top for a whole day... i really want to switch to the MIUI Rom.... what am i doing wrong?
miui uses an installer that requires a rom to be installed on the phone. you wiped the system. don't wipe anything before installing. you can do that in the installer.
there are three files to flash. base, options then themes. it's a great rom. you'll enjoy it.

Why don't you flash a rom that you can flash from CWM and then flash MIUI?
You could reinstall CM7 or AOKP.
Once installed run the MIUI installer (without wiping anything before starting the installer), and then install Gapps. You should then be good to go.
Also, I think you should spend some more time reading about what you're doing. It seems that you may be on the edge of not knowing what you're doing. I'd suggest (at a minimum) the first 3 posts in the MIUI thread should be understood in detail before doing this again.

I'm not sure. I run AOKP. I think if you've got jokers revision 3 of CWM that you're fine.
I'm on 5.0.2.7-photon3. I think you're one release newer, but make sure it's joker's version and you should be alright.
