New user- 2.33 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yo guys, I'm a new user of x10i...I have on my x10i 2.33 software so I'm wondering If I'm able to flash, root and etc.. with the guides what are posted on this forums as a guide or they are out-dated( not for this software) or it doesn't matter.
I'm not sure if this is considering as a spam, but I want to make sure so I don't screw up my x10, I just bought it few days ago.
thanks
and just wondering, what hacks( root, flash etc...) do you guys suggest me to do on x10i so I could enjoy it max..

Just root it first using flashtool(look at stickies at top of page for guide and download links).

yeah, I got that part ;P but still, my question is still not answered

Which question would that be;
Can you root
Is guides outdated
Is message spam
Will you screw up you phone
Which Rom
Yes if you read guides and get flashtool
No;but a lot of download links are dead
No;but there is a search function for a reason
Probably;but it's easily sorted-although certain people can't seem to manage
Try Feravolts rom

You can flash new kernels over dooms. For back to stock there are stock kernels with xrecovery installed. If you want to start over with full stock (relock, unroot, stock rom & kernel) then use flashtool and flash stock ftf file

First get the rom on your SD card, flash baseband.52 and install the rom normally with recovery, nothing special is requires for flashing the kernal it is done automaticly. If you need help on how to flash use my guide from my sig

So that kernel is already inside and i need just to flash it using baseband .52 ?
You flash the baseband with the flashtool and the rom with recovery. The kernal is included yes. Read through my guide, it explains all about how to flash roms and basebands.

I really don't have a clue if that would work or not cos J's kernal is for 2.3 and wolfbreaks rom is 2.2. You could always just try it out to see if it works just make sure you back up up wit recovery first and if worst comes to worst flash with the flash tool and redo your set up.

p.s: my first post on XDA

you can use Trip rom as well , its very cool
i meanyt to say that if i install any rom will i loose my generic se firmware or data ?
You can always go back to general SE firmware by clicking repair in SEUS.
The data on your sdcard is usually safed when changing between ROMs. But to be sure you can make a backup in xRecovery. Or use an app like Titanium backup or My Backup Root.
Owner of Post,
Do you have the latest version of busybox installed yet and xrecovery yet, because if you don't, I or somebody else can help you. So post again and if you need it and I will post some links for you to use.

Here is flashtool that will help with many things with the x10 like rooting, new se firmwares, installing busybox, ect.
What is your baseband? I need to know before you do the following below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
and here is the how to to use flashtool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10879507#post10879507
since your phone is already rooted, install busybox with flashtool first then xrecovery with this link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571.
then pick on of the lovely ROMs with with the correct baseband you have.
im on 2.1.54

Good. Now you can use most if not all 2.2 ROMS. Go the busybox step then.

by the way, it doesn't matter if your phone is X10a or X10i. that just means your phone hardware frequency is different. you can use any custom ROM. I recommend Trip's GB MiUI ;-)
Sent from my X10 TripNMiUI using XDA Premium App
u should try wolfbreak's custom rom in the android development section since your baseband is on .54 if not you have to take the trouble to flash your baseband to .49 or 52 for trips rom
Thanks Guys

yes!!!!
basically when you flash a ROM you get back on stock kernel (at least in case of locked boot loader) and you hv to flash the custom kernel separately!!
Okay man, !
And, how can i know if i have unlocked bootloader?

you don't have unlocked bootloader by default. you have to unlock it using the_laser's unlock app. check the dev section for that. I am still on locked BL, broken USB
Ahhh ok. I thought that the wolf ROM already have the unlocked BL, cuz it instslled the doom's kernel.

neah!! the kernel was then included with the rom.
you can ask the dev i.e Wolf to provide you with the flash-able stock kernel package or you can flash the stock kernel + baseband tft file using flashtool!
P.S. I remember that WB had posted the return to stock kernel package in his thread!
Yes, he did. He posted the stock and custom, so i can flash stock again (=
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Now it all makes sense. With WB the it first load SE kernel, kill the SE and then starts DooM's kernel, right?
So if i mske the_laser's process, it wont load SE kernel anymore.

Yes, with unlocked BL you can directly load custom kernels, bypassing SE Kernel altogether!!

[Q]Please help me!

Hello, I'm using nAa kernel v011 & MiniCM 2.2.0, I wanted to revert back to stock 2.1, I tried SEUS and seus say my phone has the latest update installed, and there is just an exit button, can some1 help me? I tried flashing stock kernel and use SEUS but still ended with the same result

It is always suggested to take a backup of stock rom before installing any custom rom..have you taken any backups?
I did not make a backup when I flashed custom roms because I was a complete noob and I just flash a custom rom. Btw thanks for your reply.
Sent from my E10i using XDA
Download any rom for ur device which completely works with stock kernel....
Then 1st do necesary wipes
Install custom rom
Flash stoock kernel...
Boot. Properly
And then try with pc companion or SEUS
But if I'm using a custom kernel and if I flash a rom that is compatible with stock kernel wont recovery will say incompatible kernel found? I've tried that before.
Sent from my E10i using XDA
Dude I mean a rom which is compatible wit both stock kernel and custom kernel
Well then can you tell me which rom is compatible with both kernel please? Thank you

u have already installed naa kernel, meaning that you have unlocked bootloader. this article said that you can update through SEUS if you have unlocked the bootloader. i'm not experienced with x10mp bootloader issue before this but my gtab7 experienced bootloader problem after unlocked, flash the stock bootloader and solved the problem.
but you said that you have flash the stock kernel and still cant install through seus. why dont you try to reinstall seus, mybe something wrong with it. and btw,did you manage to flash stock kernel successfully?

Two Questions.!!

1.Tell the easiest way to unlock bootloader of my Xperia St15i
Want to flash a custom kernel to over clock my mini so also i want to know the highest stable frequency.
2.Is it possible to turn off the light of two soft button ( Menu key & Back key)
In dark this light spreads in the whole screen portion and looks pathetic like a local phone so i would like to turn it off
Check my signature for unlocking bootloader.
For the other question try apps like RootDim.
Thanks,
Rick

I did not understans your question properly. But from what I could make out, you were asking if Flashtool can be used for flashing Stock Firmwares on Unlocked bootloaders.
The answer is yes. You can use flashtool to flash Firmwares even if your bootloader is unlocked.
Thanks,
Rick

Yea. Unlock bootloader. Flash the firmware (if you are already not on it). Install your desired kernel using flashtool. And you are done.
To overclock you will need to use apps.
Thanks,
Rick

Like DragonClawsAreSharp said unlock the bootloader, then flash a different kernel, I suggest (for ICS) KRsH Kernel v3.0 (ICS) which can be found here, or Rage Kernel v3.2 (ICS) which can be found here, then you just need to download the appropriate app for overclocking, I suggest the free No-frills CPU Control, which can be found on Google PlayStore or here, hope I helped.

But rootdim is not working
any other app can do that??
To switch off softkeys light, try chosing in rootdim other lights, button-backlight and choose rfkill0.
Then you can save as a shortcut.
Bye.
