[Q] Email client differences in roms - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have tried the resurrection roms for the look and feel of pure ICS, but so far as business user with a need for a good email client, I must say that only the stock one, that is also in ligtning rom, has full exchange sync features.
In the one from resurrection, there is no task synchronization against the exchange server, nor can smime certificates be implemented in a proper way.
Both is possible with the stock rom email client.
Does anyone have the same experiences or knows how to install the stock email client to a resurrection rom?
Thanks a lot
Tim

if you get titanium backup and have root access you could try this,
backup the email.apk & exchange.apk from stock, then in the new rom, root uninstall email.apk and exchange.apk. then recover the other versions from titanium
OR
you could try extracting the apk's if you have a clockwork backup of the original rom, or even get a stock rom and extract it... i think theres something you have to do with permissions if you do it this way

i badly need sgs2 stock email client working on cyanogen
I just installed cyanogenmod 7.1 stable for the sgs2 first time... Its really fast n all, but it feels the the experiance i had when i first started using ubuntu in my pc. But i really love the sgs2 stock email client over anyother email client. It clould auto detect server settings if and also decide if u should use IMAP or POP, just by selecting premium account. And best of all, it had flawless pinch to zoom.. K9/gmail so far no android email client has pinch to zoom. Maybe they do but stock sgs2 email client fulfills me...
I tried using a root explorer and move the apk to system/app and then reboot. didnt work. Then i tried going to tecovery and fixing the permission. Still didnt work. What can i do? Plz help...

Hi, I'm using this ROM on my SGS2: [ROM][ICS]IMM76D 4.04 AOKP[16.04.][1080p-MP4-Stereo][FMRADIO 2nd Post][AOKP BUILD 32]
It has the standard ICS email app, which I use for my professional emails...
I've flashed around 8 different ROMS and this one has come out as the winner
Hope it helps.
Btw, Pinch 2 zoom works...

How to install Samsung Email.apk into MIUI on SGS2

What I like from original Samsung email.apk is the presence of mail preview on the right screen while in landscape mode, no other email apk in market having this feature.
I tried to replace the MIUI email.apk (I used NDT MIUI GINGER 2.3.7 v10) with Samsung email in the rom \system\app then rezip again then run CWM recovery.
The rom install perfectly but without any email app.
Thankyou.
miui wont have any samsung framework will it? thought it needed that to use their email app
I have no idea, samsung email.apk size around 7MB, while MIUI email.apk size around 600KB. I start to think it can be all in one, stand alone install for Samsung email.apk since the size is a lot bigger.
Sometimes u get something,u lose something.U can't get both features in one single rom.Just make yourself satisfied.
you right mate, get st, lost st...

[Q] Install Stock ICS gapps on Samsung ROM (XXLPJ))

Hi,
I have put the latest ICS leak on my SGS2 which funny enough I find better and more stable than the official XXLPQ.
The only things I miss are the stock ICS apps such as the ICS calendar, stock Email for Exchange, stock dialer/people apps etc ... but I also kind of like Touchwizz launcher and would like to keep it.
I have downloaded the latest gapps but is it safe to flash these over a Samsung ROM and would it bring the stock ICS apps that I am after?
I have searched on the forum and found few threads about stock apps but not really what I am after.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Anyone can help for this?
I am trying to get the Email app from the CM9 ROM installed onto my LP3 stock Samsung ICS.
I have tried to copy Email.apk and Exchange.apk to /system/app but that doesn't work, the app is not visible under settings/applications...
I would love to get the stock ICS apps (sms, contacts, email, agenda) on the Samsung ROM (LP3) which I find very stable

[Q] cm7.2 email.apk 2.3.4 subfolders missing

running cm7.2 on the aria and the stock email client 2.3.4 using active sync only syncs the first 4 personal folders folders from exchange. ive installed other stock version 2.2 etc...but i cant get them to work, force close issues etc...Is there an update past 2.3.4 for the stock gingerbread email client? Can I flash an ICS email apk into gingerbread?
K9 wont hook up to my exchange server for some reason but it works fine for imap though.
Any suggestions or links to updated stock gingerbread email.apk's is appreciated.

how to disable exchange mail password?

Hey, in version 4.0.4 i hade 2 apk file to overwrite and its disable the exchange password lock.
now i'm on 4.1.1 and i need to know how to do it in that version.
Thanks.
hi there
you cannot disable it at stock rom, there are roms who offer this function like latest omega rom by indie.
other option is to ask your IT guy to disable this by the server side.
good luck !
Hmmmm, i know i can becuse its done befor on 4.0.4 stock rooted. just asking if some one have the apk files for 4.1.1 version.

[Q] Custome ROMS and Active Sync Corp email

I am very new to custome ROMs. I have tried several so far and found that they do not have the "Active Sync" email type. I use my phone for work and have to have "Active Sync" for our corporate email. I have to have full outlook functionality for work. Does anyone know what I need to add to get that back. It was on Gingerbread, but I want a current ROM. I have a Samsung Captivate.
Thank you.
