[Q] Dock Replacement - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I'm in the UK and I dropped keyboard/dock.
It was charging at the time and landed directly on the connector, damaging both cable and the connector in the dock itself. The TF201 itself was not docked at the time.
I need to either get a replacement dock or a replacement pcb for the dock. Asus UK were not really helpful. They suggested I contacted AsusSpares.eu for a new pcb, who told me that they do not supply such items.
Does anyone know anywhere that can supply parts, or where I can get a complete replacement? It seems that the prime was only available in the UK with dock.

Problem with charging Pad and/or Dock

Now after waiting more than one month I got my transformer, but...
The pad (alone) is charging very slow (several hours) although the pad tells me it is not charging - strange!
The dock (alone) is not charging
The pad in the dock is charging as long as the dock has some power
but remember, I'm not able to charge the dock.
Phonecall with Amazon:
I should send back all the stuff and they will replace it.
I waited more than one month for the pad and therefore I suggested only to send me a new charging cable and adapter
That is not possible for Amazon, so they gave me the phone number from Asus
Phonecall with Asus:
They will not send me a new cable and adapter without having my one.
It can last up to several weeks till I will get back the cable - hmpf!
Trying to buy a new cable/adapter, so that I can work with my pad is very (too) expensive.
So, now I am thinking about giving all back and buy some other stuff from another company.
Frustrating!

I'm sorry to hear this. At my local bestbuy they have a Prime and dock on display. Maybe your local Bestbuy has a display model with a AC Adapter/cable that you could try out?
@skygunner: What do you mean with "Bestbuy"?
Bestbuy is a local electronics store here in the U.S. Do you have a store that sells the Prime where you can test your dock?
we have some but they don't sell this one but only the parent version and there I think is a different adapter/cable.
Solv ethe Transformer Prime charging problem - easy
Don't send back to ASUS they have no idea what this problem is.
Simple solution ( I had nothing to lose by trying it). Reset using a paper clip for 10 seconds in hole in tablet near SD card.
No settings seem to be lost, all wireless passwords intact, Skype contacts OK. Started taking charge straightaway. And been fine since. I would prefer that ASUS could tell me why but it is working fine and a brilliant piece of kit. No WiFI or GPS issues for me and buying through Carphone Warehouse pain free and I was no fan of theirs. Hope this helps.
My symptoms were:
Keyboard had drained to nil, tab had drained to 25%. No charge being taken. Tried alternative trasnformer plug and a PC USB port. Still no charge. Cable was recognised as it sparked the Prime into life. I have ICS downloaded.
don't reset.
put your charger in the freezer for a while.

Or bend the prongs to ensure proper connection once charger is fully assembled
Or all of them.
P.s.
If you throw it in the freezer, please put it in a bag and don't let it get saturated with moisture.
(So so funny that they can't even get like a $1 charger right, and we're expecting a fully-functioning tablet from them...)

[Q] Docking cause hanging

Hi all
I've had my prime for awhile now. today i left my prime charging through the dock with the tablet connected. Suddenly it seems my tablet would hang (black screen) if i dock on my keyboard. And it would take me several attempts to reboot (by pressing the power button) before it actually can reboot itself.
I've tried on other prime docks, no problem at all. Anyone else having such a problem?
Also, when i try to charge my dock (alone), there's no LED light next to the power charge (not green nor red).
Think my dock bricked?
Update on this.
I sent it to asus service center. They took about 1 week + to repair. They ordered a new tablet motherboard, dock motherboard and dock battery.
1 week because they were waiting for the parts to arrive (taiwan to malaysia i guess). Just picked it up yesterday, works perfect now
Never thought the warranty would be so handy..

WOW,
In the USA we call that kind of troubleshooting "shotgunning". Very bad.
It means the tech has no idea whats wrong so they throw new parts at the problem.
The fact that they replaced both the Tablet Motherboard and the Dock Motherboard tells me they didn't have a clue.
Simply kept giving you new parts until it worked.
Bad.
Says the tech has no clue.
(unless- slim chance) unless by some wierd coincidence you blew up everything. not likely.

[Q] Dock spares/replacement

I managed to drop my prime whilst it was connected to the dock & on charge. It landed on the power connector and has damaged both the usb cable and the connector in the dock itself. Luckily the tablet seems fine. It seems that the connectors are fairly fragile.
Does anyone know where I can get either spares for the dock (main pcb I guess) or a complete new dock, plus usb cable? I'm in the UK.
As an aside, this is my 2nd prime. The first was a CO2 and had wifi issues (as well as gps) and was returned. The second is a CO3 and so far has been much, much better, although I have only had it 2 weeks.

[Q] Gtablet repair or salvage

OK so I have a Viewsonic Gtablet. It broke this weekend. Well the charging port broke, the little pin in the middle of the port where the AC adapter blogs is loose, it is still in there but even careful cord placement will not charge it. I have just enough battery left to wipe it clean. But I was going to try to repair it.
So one, where to find decent instructions to open it up. I figure a charging port is an easy fix and I am no stranger to a soldering iron. Secondly I was going to sell it as I just ordered a new tablet. So would anyone be interested in this for parts or repair themselves. I was going to sell it before it broke for like $120 OBO. Can't do that now.
It is right now I wish they added USB charging to the device. At least I would have a backup plan...

It is easy to pop the cover off the back of the Gtab. Here is a link to a video on how to do it.

A google search will also direct you to another site where the topic has been discussed.
Same thing happened to me: knocked it off a table while charging
Anyway, after looking into fixing the barrel connector jack I decided that it was going to be hard enough finding the part - much less getting it properly soldered onto the board, so I went a different route:
After finding the pinouts for the docking connector on the web at [*** see Note #1 ***] I went to [*** see Note #2 ***] and bought 2 connectors (in case I messed one up - the pins ARE pretty small).
I then soldered 2 wires to pins 26 (g) and 27 (+12) of a connector and cut the barrel plug off my charger and soldered the wires to the cable.
Works great.
Hope this isn't too late, but I figure in any case it might be helpful to someone in the future.

NOTES: Forum rules prhibit me from posting links, so here's how a human can find the places I would have listed
Note#1: pinouts
Google "rootzwiki Viewsonic Gtablet Dock Pins Discovered And Listed"
Note #2: The Kineteka eStore
Google "kineteka viewsonic gtab connectors"
I bought SKU# GTAB-DOCK-M-1 but the breakout board looked like an option as well

Gtablet, Malata Z-Pad stand and Folio Case

Looking to sell my Gtablet with dock and folio case. I bought it during one of the Woot sales a few years back and recently got a Nexus 7, so this doesn't get much use anymore.
Comes with:
original box and documentation
USB cable and AC power adapter
FUSE brown folio case (bought from electroniccrap.com)
Malata Z-Pad docking station (in box)
I bought the dock when i starting having intermittent issues with charging. I suspect that there is a loose connection in the power port which is a common problem, but charges fine on the dock.
The unit does have the reset hole drilled in the back and covered with tape as I had tried out the DRH rom and had to use the reset a few times before moving to another JB rom. No screen blemishes at all, a few light scratches and wear scuffs on the back panel.
I've got a CyanogenMod ROM on it now (Android 4.1.2 Sm0other_Bean 1.5) and was using it for streaming media and accessing my recipe collection in Evernote. The wired ethernet connection and HDMI on the dock works with this ROM.
I'd like to get $150 for all of it and i will ship within the US. I can also offer pictures of the tablet, case and dock in use if requested.
Thanks for looking...
