Slingplayer/mobile with the note - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Does anybody use their slingplayer with the note? Does it work well? How about using with directv ? Also what app works better with the note? The phone or tablet slingplayer androod app?
Thank you

Works great. I also have the tablet version on here as well. Quality is way better but it won't open the remote interface, only allows you to manually enter the channels.

Are threre any video quality diffrence between the two apps phone/tablet versions?
I mostly want to use this for the dvr shows not so much live tv. I want the tablet app if it has better video quality but not controls for dvr seems like a deal breaker. Is the phone app video quality just as good? I want to make sure before I put down $300+ and $30 for the app.
Thank you guys for your responses

I have been using slingplayer for a long time. Obviously there have been upgrades over the years but I get the best quality video on my Note. I have the Slingbox Solo.

I am using slingplayer with my solo as well. Works like a charm.

Is it possible to put the tablet version of Slingplayer on the Note? The tablet version doesn't even show up on market for me.

I just got the slingbox pro hd and its okay! All the features and function is there but the video quality is okay. I get the same choppy quality in sd and hd. I have it hooked thru component with digital audio and optimum online boost 30 down 8 up in nyc. I'm happy with the box and hope maybe ICS will make the video quality better along with netflix.

I'm using Slingbox-Pro for 7 years and never had any problem with the Tilt II and now I'm using it on my Verizon Samsung Galaxy " Tablet using Android and don't have any problem either.
When I try to use it on the new samsung focus S, The windows phone reqired that you must change the slingbox pro to slingbox pro-HD. I did that, spent $250 for the slingbox pro-hd, it works for 3 months then the power supply input on the pro-hd burned up. Now I switched back to the Slingbox pro and still working good with my android tablet but will not work on the windows phone. I think the windows phone SUCK !!!.I'll switch to the Samsung Galaxy Note as soon it come out. Stay away from windows phones. Regars,

Netflix,Photon, HDMI

Does Netflix work on Photon using the HDMI to connect to TV?
It should because all the HDMI is doing is taking whatever is on your Photon screen and projecting it to your TV. We already know that Netflix is supported on the Photon so this shouldn't be a problem.
Yep, watched some MST3K and some ST:TNG already

just make sure you have the correct (good) cable. First one I had did not work well, the second one worked great.
TS out
i tried this yesterday and while i thought the capability was cool it does look kinda grainy on bigger TV's because its just blowing up the phone screen image. A way to improve resolution or a custom app from netflix would be really clutch, but I dont want to ask for too much. +1 for hulu working in webtop mode

Can the note be mirrored to a TV?

Coming from my Photon I really like having the mini hdmi port to hook up to my TV to stream movies at friends houses and what not.
Does anybody know if the note has an adapter and the capability to do this?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
If you have an hml adapter like the one that comes with the infuse then Yes!

If you can stream media to your TV, the included Allshare app works really well for this. (I was really surprised, I thought it was just more useless bloatware)
If you have a Samsung TV this phone pairs up really nicely. Allshare works great, and there is another program called SwipeIt that pushes photos and videos to your tv.
Skifta (which I currently have on my Nook Color, haven't tested it on the Note since it already has Allshare) not only lets you share content with DLNA devices, but can actually act as an intermediary/remote control as well. For example, using Skifta I can tell my PS3 Media Server to push a movie to my Samsung TV. Now if only the TV didn't ask for permission before displaying it...that could be a lot of fun screwing with friends while they're watching something else. :3
yea my TV is a 4 year old Panasonic plasma so the only way to get anything on it is through hdmi.

Yeah ive used the hdmi out from my infuse with my note, a/v both work great even on my 51 inch screen. The samsung allshare app actually works really well if you have any newer samsung components.

NCAA March Madness App

Has anyone been able to find a working version for our tab on honeycomb? Works on my G2 gingerbread phone but not on my tablet?

I have only been able to get video up by opening the streaming link via browser. However, it was too laggy even on a good WiFi connection to make it watchable. Not sure why. I tried it in 2 different browsers with no real luck.
The app is disappointing. Amount of compatible devices is really weak. I emailed them a few times and all they said was "There are too many Android devices and we can't test them all" which is really just a load of bull. Plenty of video apps out there that run on tablets, phones, etc. without issue.
Too bad considering the Flyer is a great size screen for streaming that type of stuff.
hate to say it but the stream works well on my iphone.... yuck. atleast I was able to get a free account
It streams great from my phone ( T-Mobile G2) but I can't place it on my desk comfortably
This sucks, my tablet has better specs than my phone UGH

Considering buying a Player for my gf

Possibly buying one for her for christmas. Main reason would be for voip calls, either with skype, magicjack or viber etc. She only has a blackberry so this would be closest thing to a smart phone / device she'll have.
She normally favours small devices. What size screen would be appropriate in terms of practicality? I would want her to be able to play fruit ninja and angry birds smoothly as well.

probably the 4 inch player. there's also a 3.6 and 4.2 inch. I have a 5.0 and I love it

whatsapp should work out of the box. I actually have never tried Skype or video calling on the player. It should work though because it has a front facing camera and I believe it is better on the 3.6

I don't have a 3.6. Skype calls and video calls work well on the SGP 5.0. I wouldn't suggest running other apps in the background as Skype does use a lot of proc power to run.
I would suggest getting the 4.2 since the screen resolution is a lot better than the 3.6 (the 4 and 4.2 are mostly the same and the 4.2 is newer but its your call.)
I suppose Skype would work on the 3.6 as anyone else. So if you're looking for the cheapest and she mainly needs it for calls, the 3.6 is the way to go (if you want a brand new device).
On Amazon the 3.6 is $150 and the 4 is $180. But they have refurbushed ones (4.0) for $130. They also have used 4.2 for $150.
Ive decided n the 3.6 player. Do you think id need to get a case or screen protector for it? Does the build quality require one over time?

Turning my photon into a nexus Q

Ok so I've got my deactivated Photon and I'm repurposing the device as an Android media player. I'm basically trying to make it a nexus Q/Google TV like device. Looking for suggestions on how to best achieve this. I would like to be able to control the device from my phone (Note 2) as the nexus Q allows you to modify it's music queue.
Some background: phone is unlocked, I'm using an HD dock to connect to my TV or stereo.

Buy an HDMI Cable & download an airplay server app from the market (the is one like that)
and an AIrplay Client
Hdmi out on my photon always looked terribly pixelly. I almost could not stand it but mine is locked so maybe custom roms and kernels fix that issue.

Thinking of doing this on a 32" bedroom TV. How are you all controlling it, do you just set up whatever video you want and then plunk it into the dock, or do you have a wireless keyboard/mouse?

Well that's one of the things I'm trying to figure out. If I can get it to behave like the Nexus Q then I could control it from any Android device. Unfortunately I have yet to figure out how to accomplish this.
