hi guys, i would like to ask some questions.
as we know, rooting phone void our warranty.
what i'm curious is, if i root my phone, then in case some problems occured, and i need to go back to samsung, can unroot my phone prevent samsung from checking that i had rooted the phone before?

Well, I've got a different phone (Sony Ericsson) but I seem to remember that via Chainfire Method you can both get root and install ClockWorkMod Recovery 5, without involving the counter, whereas it shouldn't be si via Odin.

I have an LG Optimus One P500 and would like to root it. However, I spent all my cash on it and I wouldn't want to brick it or VOID THE WARRANTY. I need a method of rooting my Optimus that will not void my warranty, preferably a one click root app or something.

If your phone came with android 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 onboard, then rooting first involves downgrading the firmware to 2.2. This process has the most chances of bricking your device. There is no concrete way of ensuring that bricking does not happen, though if you follow the instructions correctly, you will in all probability have no problems as lots of people have sucessfully completed the instructions.
You can chose to root your phone using a one click app like 'z4root'. Since there is an option to unroot your phone,you wont void your warranty.
You can even restore the phone to factory state even after installing a Custom recovery or Custom ROM by installing Original Firmware provided by LG using the same procedure used to downgrade yourr firmeware. This will remove all the traces of your fiddling with the phone and thus will preserve warranty.

Alright, so over the last few weeks my phone has developed touchscreen issues, with large parts of the screen now not registering touches. The phone is very close to unusable and I plan to have it exchanged on warranty. HOWEVER, I was rooted back on Froyo (I lost root access with the Gingerbread update) and now I'm stuck with Superuser as a system app (unremovable). I need root access to remove SU, but I haven't been able to find whether or not rooting via .zip flash is reversible or not. I need an answer on whether or not it is, and if so, how.
Also, I'm not simply flashing back to stock because I've heard rumors that the phone keeps track of how many flashes it recieves. How credible is this?

it is reversable download root uninstaller from the market if you are worried about it. me personally i have returned about 4 rooted phones ony to have them fixed and updated when sent back.

First of all - if this has been asked before, please forgive me. I tried searching, but it's not even 6.30 am yet and my brain isn't completely on yet.
What I was wondering about is if rooting the S3 will stop OTA updates for the phone, and if the OTA will keep coming I would very much like to know what the easiest route to rooting this is. I cannot be bothered to keep manually flashing my phone like I did with my S2...

If all you do is root, you will still get OTA updates but if you install a custom recovery the OTA updates will not install.

You would still be able to update through kies with custom recovery. Its basically what i do, root + CWM, when i see the OTA, i go to my pc and update through kies.
Thanks, guys Now I just need to find out how come Odin won't connect properly. Hopefully, the phone just needs a charge...
Is it actually possible to root without changing the loader? If so, could someone point me in the right direction? It seems the ones I've found will install CWM :S

Just flash the kernel via Odin. It will not void your warranty if you use Triangle Away.
The only reason why Odin does not detect is because the drivers are not installed properly in your PC
I recently rooted my phone using method 3 (root from stock recovery) from:

It kind of worked and i was able to run the root applications.
But then i decided to unroot and did so from superSU's unroot option.
It worked and i dont see rooted anywhere (no triangle or flash counter)
except when i try to update. It says "your device has been modified. Software upgrades are unavailable"
Now im facing battery problems with my phone and want to go for replacement since its under warrenty. So my questions is would they be able to find out i rooted it and deny me replacement ?
Rooting doesn't shows any special effects to your phone but its required for some apps. And about battery problems, try to check new battery from the market

Chainfire's app Triangle Away could restore your system status to official (but requires root). And make sure its compatible with your device.

But my question is if this will still work even after at&t ota updates. I really want to root this phone, but I'm trying to be cautious because I don't have a backup phone or a PC to run Odin on, unless there's some way I can flash stock firmware without a pc?
