[KERNEL] [ICS] [Stock WIFI restore] Stock ICS w init.d support+root+cwm! [25-May] - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Latest Kernel mod -> Go Here
Based on 4.1.B.0.431 ICS 4.0.4 Kernel, features new CPU governors and autoroot.
Q. Who would benefit from this?
Those who want to stick to stock kernel for Official ICS (4.1.A.0.562), but would still want to get the benefits of init.d scripts, and native root access!
I personally feel ICS stock kernel is more battery friendly than Night-elf RC2 kernel.
Q. Features?
- init.d support (credits DooMLoRD for showing the way)
- ro.secure=0 (that is now adb has native root access!)
- clockworkmod 5.5 (credits Night-elf)
- no other changes to stock kernel
- zImage changes not possible as source is not available from SONY
Download
boot_ICS_plus_v5.img
Changes: Previous features +
1. Switched to Doomlord's arc ics recovery (better features)
2. Important bug-fixes. (Please update!)
boot_ICS_plus_v4.img
Changes: Previous features +
1. Perfect ADB connection in recovery.
2. Short vibrate on entering recovery added
boot_stock_ICS_initd_root_cwm_v3.img
Changes: Now restores stock WIFI modules (so you can directly flash from Night-elf kernel without losing WIFI!)
Those who are using v2 without problems do not need to update!
boot_stock_ICS_initd_root_cwm_v2.img
Changes: CWM 5.5, with ADB & USB mount (credits Night-elf)
Q. How to install?
Just as you install a custom kernel.
If no wifi, just delete "modules_version" and "modules_reversion" in "/system/lib/modules" and reboot
Steps:
1. Follow this guide to install official ICS + root
(Do not install CWM)
2. If you already have DooMLoRD/nAa CWM, go to /system/bin with any root explorer and delete recovery.tar and chargemon
3. Power down device and get into FASTBOOT MODE -> switch off device hold menu key & plugin usb. (LED notification turns BLUE)
4. check fastboot with "fastboot devices"
5. flash boot image
fastboot flash boot boot.img
6. Reboot with "fastboot reboot"
7. Enjoy!

Very good work
when going to overclock, swap?
You can make a support for swap too?
Very thankful for this kernel

Thanks a lot!!

Waiting For Dual-Boot Kernal

Battery is a bit issue on all ICS rom. But I almost get 80% off that in GB. 100% battery runs almost 1d 12hr+.
Currently on nightelf kernel. Will give the stock kernel a shot. Will report in a week.

The latest ICS kernel source has not been released by Sony.. only then we can use the latest.
But till then, we can use Night-Elf kernel for OC..
I may make a stock wifi restore patch for Night-elf kernel, for those who want to try stock kernel after being on Night-elf

i need to do is flash stockicscwm.img then flash ROM and then?
I think there is no difference. You can flash only new kernel while installing ICS.
Hi, I update the info
@Qwerty123
Tomorrow I will be update with more options if it is possible.
@mobikidz
Yes, so you can use cwm anytime CWM with back key, and now this kernel have more features than original stock rom and the custom rom.
@FrozenSE
Yes you can use this kernel for alpha ics SE roms
do i need to remove this stockics0.2.img kernel after flashing because it is an Insecure boot.img
Good Morning, people!
princesupernoah kernel v0.2 is an insecure image because i need to run adb with superuser privileges, but it`s not bad so i can use for many things. However you can download v.0.1, that it´s clean, only include CWM.

{Update: 9/Apr/12}[Custom Kernels Now For Froyo]

I have only tried this on FroyoPro (all versions) with LinuxDX & AlfsGDX v05/6/7/8. Please try it with your favourite rom/kernel combination and report the results here!
1: Flash FroyoPro.
2: Flash x8FroyoPro-Alfsv8+AllFixv3.zip.
3: Reboot, no need to flash anything else.
Or for older kernels:
Ok this is really easy...
1: Flash Froyo rom & custom kernel of your choice. (Any order.)
2: If you want to use Alfasamsung's Alfsv05/6/7 Kernel: Flash "x8AlfsKernelAllin1FixV2.zip" in ClockWorkMod.
OR
2: If you want to use Doixanh's LinuxDX Kernel: Flash "x8LDXKernelAllin1FixFroyo.zip" in ClockWorkMod.
3: WiFi works now, press thanks.
This is for Froyo roms only! Please Note: Read everything you can in kernel threads & Flashtool thread/website.
I recommend the capped versions of Alfs kernel however uncapped will score higher in bench mark tests.
I also recommend not using compcache and using swap instead. More info in Enable Swap 4 X8.
You only need to flash one of the fixes attached after flashing your ROM, no other flashing necessary!

Returning To Stock Kernel:
To return to stock kernel with out losing your data & with ClockWorkMod & XRecovery enabled:
(No guarantee!!! Try at your own data's risk! However this now works all the time for me.)
1: Flash "x8lrakkarlsBack2StockKernel4Froyo.zip" in ClockWorkMod. Download Here or Mirror.
2: Flash "E15_Stock_Kernel.ftf" with Flashtool. Download stock kernel Here or Mirror.
3: WiFi, offline charging, USB mount, ClockWorkMod/XRecovery all working properly with stock kernel, click thanks!
Please Note: This has only been tested on FroyoPro v2.3! Any other bugs come up, report them here!
Change-Log/Extras:
UPDATED: 26/Jan/12
Added "x8AlfsKernelAllin1FixV2.zip".
This fixes compcache, sd mounting (not that I personally had a problem before), WiFi for Froyo, USB mount, etc
UPDATED: 16/Jan/12
Removed, renamed and re-uploaded all files as per users requests. (Removed my name from files.)
New fix for Doixanh's LinuxDX Kernel "x8LDXKernelAllin1Fix.zip". USB working now. Nice, stable kernel, with no oc. Please test for other bugs.
"x8CustomKernelWifiFix4Froyo.zip" outdated now but in case any person wishes to download, moved it to post#3.
UPDATED: 14/Jan/12
Lots of guide changes and thread updates. It is now much easier for you to do what you want!
Returning to stock kernel is now (hopefully) quick, easy & bug free.
I have now tried the WiFi fix with LinuxDX & WiFi is working but USB mount is not. Didn't check anything else.
UPDATED: 13/Jan/12
"x8lrakkarlsBack2StockKernel4Froyo.zip"
To return to stock kernel but with ClockWorkMod & XRecovery enabled. Ready to flash another rom.
UPDATED: 12/Jan/12
Added "x8lrakkarlsAlfsKernelAllin1Fix4Froyo.zip" as it seemed to be needed.
Flash this if you are using Alfs Kernel on Froyo. It will fix WiFi, USB & offline charging with just one zip.
UPDATED: 11/Jan/12
"x8lrakkarlsBack2StockKernelWifiFix4FroyoV2.zip"
Should work in XRecovery now.
UPDATED: 11/Jan/12
"x8lrakkarlsBack2StockKernelWifiFix4Froyo.zip"
with vold and chargemon, offline charging & USB works now haha.
Please re-download if you were one of the 3 people who downloaded this fix!!!
You can find a list of kernels (& roms) available for our phone here:

Okey, I will try nAa kernel with froyo pro if you want but i will wait for rom update. Will be new version for CWM?
Yap, i have tried with Floyo made by racht.
The results are:
Floyo 1.0.0 + nAa Kernel = GSM doesnt work
Floyo 1.0.0 + LinuxDX = Wifi doest work
Floyo 1.0.0 + Alfs Kernel = Everything is okay. Wifi can be turned on. But i have not tried it (no wifi in my house)

Glad you could work it out, sometimes it feels better if you can figure it out by yourself.

Which version of Alfs Kernel? Some people are reporting battery drain on v06...
alfs kernel v6
"x8lrakkarlsBack2StockKernel4Froyo.zip"
To return to stock kernel but with ClockWorkMod & XRecovery enabled. Ready to flash another rom.
so before going back to stock i have to flash this?
Yes it would be a good idea!
It is much more dependable than:
"x8lrakkarlsBack2StockKernelWifiFix4FroyoV2.zip" method.
as sometimes (I need more testers) when flashing stock kernel first, CWM/XRec cannot be accessed & all apps force close after rom boots. The only way to fix if this happens is to start from stock rom again or reflash alfs & install a custom rom that is compatible with alfs.
Sorry if this is confusing, the bug is confusing too as I can't work out why sometimes flashing the stock kernel first works fine and other times it doesn't.
(That and I am too busy enjoying FP2.3 with Alfs & making more fixes for other kernels )
In short: You definitely will be able to access CWM/XRec if flashing "x8lrakkarlsBack2StockKernel4Froyo.zip" before flashing stock kernel. It also includes the wifi fix for stock kernel.
thanks for fast respond

Confirmed!..
install "x8lrakkarlsBack2StockKernelWifiFix4FroyoV2.zip" > flash stock kernel > working cwm/xrec..
and cwm/xrec cannot be accessed if "x8lrakkarlsBack2StockKernelWifiFix4FroyoV2.zip" is installed after flashing stock kernel..
btw.. can u please rename the fix .zip file with the shorten file name..
Thank you for testing!
I have now made many thread updates as well as Allin1 fix for LinuxDX.
See change-log for more info & please test LinuxDX with Allin1fix!
Has anyone tried it on froyobread?

(press 'back' to go to menu, and go to recovery from there)
(with my kcernel bootsplash)
^TOTALLY^ compatible with fxp113 rom as same zimage from fxp113 used
5.

no change to recovery system (i.e same recovery as in original oodie kernel)
with oodie's original bootsplash
FXP users who want full oc are requested to try ^this^
kernel and see if there are anybugs.

someone please make cwm zips with these files.
i forgot making and now I'm out of home

NOTE
users on unlocked bootloader can also use this just for testing/fun/requirement
when booting, wait for YELLOW led (when see blue led of
cobrato/oodie/doomkernel or pink led of fxp/achotjan kernel, just wait
3.seconds, then phone will vibrate and you'll see yellow led, then
press button )
WARNING!!
in with menu version, pressing back takes you to boot-menu (of
doomlord) but beaware, it'll take almost 30-45 seconds for bootmenu to
appear. I'm working on this problem. PLEASE DO NOT SHOUT "ERROR ERROR,
BRICK BRICK" WITHOUT WAITING FOR 45 SEC AFTER PRESSING BACK BUTTON"
Similarly for without menu version, booting to doom's touch recovery
takes almost 1 minute. (Cwm5 and xrec boots instantly, without
problem)

Recognized Developer
Hi folks and friends of my work.
I applied as recognized developer (RD), but unfortunately the commitee did not see my work as development and worth for getting the RD ribbon.
So my call goes out to you who like my work and using my bugfree roms and kernels to vote for me.
-Deleted-
I know this is an unusuall way, but I spent so many hours doing this stuff for you. Its very dissapointing hearing your work is not development and benefit for the community.
To be honest my friends.... perhabs its best quitting this consuming thing (its not development) and using others developed roms.
Sincerly,

[Q] [Cwm recovery] how to uninstall

Hello, Im new here, well i have xperia neo v rooted on 2.3.4 gingerbread stock kernel and i install the X-parts and i install the Cwm recovery pvypart.
i did it to overclock my device but as i see it cant be on gingerbread. well now i want to uninstall this recovery but i dont know how.. i have search lots of times but nothing found. But as you know about this device have so little interanl memory.. about 225 mb after format, and recovery take 5-10 mb of my memory as I see.. anyway. i realy want to uninstall it but remember, is from x Prart installed, so from rom tool box it can't erase by advances settings..
sorry for my bad language, please help me with that
Odp: [Q] [Cwm recovery] how to uninstall
As I know you need to unlock bootloader and install custom kernel to overclock CPU. CWM installed by X-Parts is located in /system/bin/ so it doesn't affect /data/ space.
If you want to completely remove it then go to sdcard (/mnt/sdcard/) and find directory 'XParts'. Inside it look for 'backup' directory. Copy all files from this directory to /system/bin/ set permissions to 644 and reboot. Done!

Well. I cant find coustom kernel. But anyway. On my sdcard there is no xparts folder. Is a folder with the name "clockworkmod" an inside have one backup that i make. What must i do now? And how to change premission?
AW: [Q] [Cwm recovery] how to uninstall
If you want to overclock your phone you have to unlock your bootloader because you need a custom kernel that supports overclocking. Stock Sony kernel doesn't support overclocking.
You will find custom kernels for gb, ics, jb. If you want to stay with gb you can flash nightelf 10 kernel.
To restore your backup you have saved to your memory card at clockworkmod folder you have to enter cwm. At the point where you did the backup there is an option to restore a backup. Choose this and cwm will list all your backups. Select the one you want to restore and let cwm do his work.

yes, i know that stock kernel not support overclockin. on this post i wanna know how to uninstall CWM from x parts. as i see CWM from X-Parts is different from others. i dont know. i will make new post after uninstall the Cwm and install with another way. and for night elf 10 you got a link?.
i cant understand this about backups. you want me to restore my backup from cwm? i make this back with Cwm installed so if i restore nothing gonne change.. explain me pls (Xperia neo v GB 2.3.4 - 4.0.2.A.0.42)
AW: [Q] [Cwm recovery] how to uninstall
You said you can't over clock at gingerbread and I wrote you can. You can over clock at any android version, you just need a unlocked boot loader because you need to flash a custom kernel.
I don't want you to restore a backup. I thought you didn't know it and that's why I wrote it down.
I don't know how to get rid of xparts. I unlocked my boot loader on my neo v and installed a custom kernel. A custom kernel comes with cwm and root integrated. So now need to spent extra time on it with locked boot loader.
As far as I know xparts is installed temporarily. There are some files at system partition. You just need to delete them and you are done. Just Google some keywords like uninstall xparts. But you need a rooted phone and a file explorer that allows access to system partition. You can use root explorer for example.
Good luck.

You must flash a custom kernel that supports overclocking! Nightelf 10 is for GB. Use flash tool and flash kernel in fast boot mode.

Look here and you will get some answers. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1468043
The difference is the feature that the kernel will offer you. You can say light has got the most common features, full has all features and experimental is something like beta.
Normally the latest kernel should be the best.
If you flash night elf kernel you will be able to over clock the phones cpu to a max value. At the moment I don't know what it is. 1.6 or 1.8 GHz. Most kernels offer 1.6 because higher values aren't stable enough. But if you set the value to standard clock the battery will have the same drain like stock kernel. Maybe it will drain a little lower, depending what voltages are set within the kernel at each CPU clock.

If you flash a new kernel to your phone than absolutely nothing will be changed to your ROM. Your rom will stay the same.
You only change the kernel, nothing more.

1. I can't say much because when i got my neo v Sony released ICS for it and I changed to it.
But normally night elf kernel were battery friendly. In thread there is a battery friendly version. You can also set another governor and scheduler, both affect battery drain.
2. Night elf kernel needs special modules. They are in download list.
3. Look at the sticky. There should be a stock kernel. Another way is to flash a ftf file but deselect all and only select kernel to flash.

Ok my fault. Nightelf uses own wifi modules, which are integrated into kernel and there is no seperated flash needed.
When you are on nighelf and want to go back to stock kernel, you need to flash working modules again. Thats the two files you mentioned. That are the stock modules that come with sony stock rom.
Yes, you can use nightelf kernel on atomic gb.
Just keep in mind:
GB roms need gb kernels, ics roms need ics kernels and jb roms need jb kernels.
If you dont follow this your phone wont boot.
I am no kernel expert. Look at Unix / linux filesystem and find out yourself what cifs and nfs mean.
There are other kernels for gb you can try:
- [kernel][neo] DOOMKERNEL [no longer maintained]
- [kernel] GALAXIAN [uv] [cwm] [working wifi] [ext4]
- ★[kernel] ♪ ♫ titanium kernel ♪ ♫
- inteks kernel clean oc
- [kernel][neo] nightelf kernel mod for fxp rom/achotjanrom/miui rom/stock (042, 062)
- PWNKERNEL GB
All listed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316394
But GB is quite old and support is getting worse.
Yes advanced stock kernel seems to be a nightelf kernel too.
