Try to get AOSP lockscreen - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

Hi,
since I don't really like the Glass lockscreen on YP-G1,I wanna change it to AOSP style.
However,UOT kitchen can't make it though I've tried many times uploading files
So,I searched for way to mod these files manually in forum.Like:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969354
Stuck ROM's is fully odexed,so I got android.policy.jar and android.policy.odex.After decompiling android.policy.odex(340KB),editing codes,recompiling,I got a dex file(296KB).It was smaller than before,making me confused...
Then I renamed it to 'classes.dex' putting into android.policy.jar,and made a CWM zip and flashed it as usual.
Reboot,ah,just got a bootloop
Anyone could give me a hand? This stuff almost made me mad...

If AOSP lockscreen's codes were not exist in firmware, then what I've done was just in vain...
But Klin has succeed in changing lock style via UOT.So there should be sth wrong in editing these codes for me.
Keep working on it.

You have to change a method in android.policy.jar. I think it was in class lockpatternkeyguardview.

Hi,Klin.
Could you please send me your android.policy.jar and android.policy.odex?I downloaded your custom ROM R5,but couldn't be unpacked by UltraISO,even failed to mount the rfs file in Linux
Thax!

Ok, I'll give it to you when I get home this afternoon. But my rom is deodexed, so it doesn't have android.policy.jar.odex.
And also, the reason you can't mount the factoryfs.rfs is because it is an extremely image in an Odin flashable format. If you want it sooner, you could download r4 and mount it and take the file you need.

Thank you~
Starting to learn Android,I'm interested in everything about it.

Sorry for the delay, but here ya go.
There is no odex version because it is already deodexed.

So, would using a deodexed android.policy.jar on a stock odexed rom not work?

Probably not. But you could try it if you want, and if it boot loops just adb push the original one to your phone. But if your rom is a different framework other than 2.3.6 than this definitely won't work.

Timescape for Galaxy Ace

Here is Timescape from Sony Ericsson, it's very easy....
1. Extract the file, you'll get - META-INF, and system
2. Open the system folder and copy all files from the folder system/app to system/app, etc/permisions to system/etc/permissions, and framework to system/framework
3. Set the permissions( all files copied ) to rw-r--r--
4. Copy the build.prop ( attached below in build.rar ) to system and replace. Backup the original bulid.prop if you want restore to original
5. Reboot....

Try this. I just made 5 min agos, flash *.zip via CW. I also modified build.pro. Tested on my own rom worked well
Doesn't work for me either. Tried manual install with root explorer and your flashable zip. no changes at all. Running Stock 2.3.4 KPH from samfirmware.

Does Dsixda's ROM Kitchen work with Galaxy S3?

I've been wanting to try the kitchen out to see if I can try deodexing and zipaligning etc on the stock touchwiz ROM I'm running.
Do you think it would work? (despite it being discontinued)
yes it works still, works on ics & jellybean (i use it myself to deodex and zipalign)

Yes dxixda kitchen works but you will need to add another file with gs3 parameters in the edify_defs folder with name m0..still the updater-script does not work . It gives me errors in the installing boot.img stage.. . Anyways you can use the kitchen to create your rom and then package your rom manually using updater-script and update-binary from some other working rom.. Then sign it..
If you or anyone finds a solution to that problem do let us know..

Deodexing will work just fine..no probs..some times you might get an error with one or two apps..just use the option to deodex a single app and you will be good to go..
:good:
Edit:
Most important change the api level to 16 before deodexing..
just make a copy of your zipped rom, drop it into the working folder, deodex the files you want to and then pull those files out of the working folder and drop them into the original rom zip folder (minus the original odexed files)
no need to change anything, no need to drop new files in or mess with update script
as you will use your existing update script/meta inf folder blah blah blah, it means you can say yes to the mods the kitchen wants to make as you will only be taking the deodexed files from there, nothing else
(does that make sense? - im guessing you will ignore this anyway like my previous post))

Oh yeah, I forgot, the system.img must be coverted from yaffs img to an ext4 file. I believe the utility is called ext2fs (or something like it)
Dsixda's tool should provide that program anyhow.

Help Building a CUSTOM(from STOCK ROM)
Newbie here---
- I have downloaded the HTC stock RUU for my device.
- I used Android Kitchen cygwin to extract the files, setup the working folder.
- Added root permissions,BusyBox
- Built the rom from working folder.
Wanted to test whether this works or not... But Phone Got stuck on HTC logo .. Not even BOOTANIMATION.
What did i miss or DO wrong here??
Where in these steps worked flawlessly when i took a custom rom? What else should be done here?? Help would be Appreciated!!!

My Answer is for kagouro - Becouse i Don't see your post when I write.
If Your Phone is dedected in adb you can use logcat (adb logcat in windows cmd) if phone don't dedected in adb - flash recovery via fastboot, join in recovery , instal working rom and found bad files in rom (try add modyfication singly - first root, second busybox etc - in this metod you can see whad mod don't work - probably stupid method but work :cyclops

Kitchen will replace certain necessary parts of your ROM if it isn't compatible with the kitchen, it puts them back when you compile. When you compiled your ROM did you take the guided option? Also, and probably the first thing I should have asked, is your phone compatible with kitchen?

[MOD Request] XXDMC3 Advanced Power Menu

Hi.
If someone could help me with getting the following mod to work on my stock xxdmc3 rom I would be very much greatful:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2125196
I tried it exactly as said in this thread but I'm stuck on boot screen. Which changes do we need to get it to work on our devices?
I really like the actuall idea of adding options to the power menu as this mod produces instead of the sub-menu that all other mods or xposed modules creates.
I hope I can get some guidance here,

You can pull android.policy, you can deodex, you can mod BUT that moded deodexed won't work on odex ROM, SYstemUI is different.

What kind of help are you looking for? Do you want suggestions on what to add? Are stuck on how to add a particular feature to your ROM? One thing you could try is compiling AOSP and using that as the base for your ROM a great guide on doing that can be found here and here (Official Google guide to building AOSP). I'll be happy to help you out best I can so let me know if you still have questions.

I fixed the launcher issue but not the services.jar. Also, the Trev-E mod WiFi tether app force closes when I flash Rom and boot

Glad you were able to fix that, my main suggestion would be to modify only one part of your ROM at time (Just like a science experiment) that way you know that if it doesn't work it's very likely because of the modification you just made. Also logcat will be a big help to help you figure out where things are causing problems and what things are causing problems.

Why do all system apps I add force close until they're updated?

Try updating the system apps to their latest version and pulling the apk's of the updates version then including these latest version updated apk's in your ROM :good:.

Also make sure in your ROM's updater-script the system apps you have added are given the proper file permissions.
I did a work-around and made added apps get flashed to /data/app. But Play Store still fc's. I modified the updater-script from another Rom for this phone, but I only added lines.

I have an issue with smali. I backsmali a classes.dex file. I can re package it with smali, when I don't edit files. If I edit any files within the output folder, I cannot repackage it with smali. It gives me an error... Unexpected top-level exception. And I cannot find any help online....
