ha ha yeah me too...i actually had these done like a week ago but was to busy/lazy to post. yeah without m10 tools we are pretty limited plus sense 4 uses skins much more deeply throughout the framework that sometimes you change stuff and nothing happens..lol

nope. using apk multitool to decompile. i havent been able to get apk tool to work since sense 3.5 ha ha
usually i can take an apk i know decompiles/compiles drop in my files after changes, compile, move the compiled files over to whatever apk i am working with and voila it works. thats my little work around. now thats not even working. stupid sense 4

You know what I did to get apktool to work....I deleted the 1.apk file in the framework folder where it pulls. I ran it and it decompiled.

This worked on sense 3.6. Not sure it will work with 4.0.

Ok, I used to theme my OG Droid, then discovered MIUI and didn't have to theme... then I got the rezound and that was locked down for a awhile..... so all in all, it's been a while since I've themed.
The system directories have changed a lot since froyo.... my question is, where are the icons located in the top bar if I wanted to change them?
I understand individual apps that have icons in the notification area all need to be themed in their each .apk's....

Most are in SystemUI.apk, there are still a few in Framework and maybe in HTC Resource apk. Also I believe they should be in res/xdpi folder inside those apks.
Anyone else that can answer this?

use winrar and 7zip to get into the .apk, and just drag an drop ur icons in.
What about signal, I'd love to get rid of the low resolution icons.

Icon changer in Rom Toolbox doesn't work because the icons on the Rezound are xhdpi and Rom Toolbox writes to hdpi. So you could setup the change and then manually fix it I guess but I wouldn't bother. You still get low res graphics on a high res screen. I've already emailed Jrummy about this and he said he'll take it under advisement.

I guess I'll try to read up on Ninjamorph and take a stab at it. I just want the stock ICS icons to match my ICS Go Launcher theme, so I will search for a Galaxy Nexus framework-res.

You can cook most of them in the UOT kitchen.

Toolbox does work however if want to change animations, saved a ton of script writing!

JRummy updated ROM Toolbox recently to use x-hdpi as well in icon changer. Some of the icon packs are still hit or miss but I'm doing them all myself now so ....
anyone care to help me with data icons being red? I have the uot zip but cant seem to get the 1x-4g icons,the arrows and the signal bars from being greyish or whitish

I have cooked the icons i want in the UOT but some of them dont work still and i have had quite a time figuring out which ones to swap out. the Sync animated icon from kalagas animated icons doesnt seem to work. Also would swapping out the resources change or break these icons. i took the resources from the semi transparent mod for ineffabilis deus and it seems to break my animated gps icon.

Can you help me understand something please? Ineffabilis v1.1 is not de-odexed but your themed apk's are de-odexed I assume sense there is no Odex file with them. Obviously you dont have all the system apk's themed, so how does that work?
Do you end up with a mix of Odex and De-Odexed apk's in your rom? Or is there something in the framework/htc resources apk's that changes the rest of the apk's?
Really just lost and would like to understand this.

only one files is deodexed and that is the systemUI.apk.
the rest are odexed.
it is a huge MYTH that you cannot theme an odexed ROM.
but you did just remind me of something!
since the systemui.apk is deodexed, you need to delete the systemui.odex from system/app.

I couldn't agree more. lots of themers switch between color bases. I tend to flip between blue or red depending on what's in the rom already and/or a present theme to use to do most work while I edit the rest

I saw that the new HTC One X had the transparent status bar, and I thought it look really nice to be able to see whatever background you have on through the bar. Thanks for your time. And if you have photoshop you can use it to make it transparent or find the Rom from that pic and pull it out of there

Does this Mod work for v1.4?
After I flash it on recovery, the phone works for maybe 5 seconds and then it boot loops, works for another 5 secs and boot loops. The only way to get out is to flash my nandroid backup.
Am I doing something wrong? It shoud just be flash and go right?

You are doing something wrong.

I emphasis v1.3...
If it doesn't work on 1.4 then don't use it.
I will update the MOD for you though..

I believe its called matte.apk in system/app. That's as far as I can get

Matte.apk is the skin... the skin does not actually hold the M10 files that contain stuff(clock,dock,widgets...) for Rosie(launcher)... The M10 files needed to change that stuff are in other apks which we cannot edit because the M10 tools dont work for sense 3.5 and up
And yes... our modded skins that we make are different from HTCs stock skins... thats why ours can change that kind of stuff inside our skins

Ya I was talkin to racinwarrior earlier through gtalk and we both agreed its stupid that HTC locks this **** down and we don't have the tools anymore to mod. when I did the 4x1 clock in 3.6 it was easy. lol

yeah not to mention HTC appearently has their own custom .9.png tool for sense 4 too so those get messed up when you decompile then recompile... which is what causes the stripes to stretch in things like the statusbar

will they be releasing these tools to devs or is someone just gonna have to figure it out at some point ?

I didnt have a chance yet to test the universal on an odex rom. Can someone do it and report back?
I've attached a few things here that I did up quick, mostly for myself but if you want to use them, feel free.
They are for Deodexed stock roms only.
This first one replaces the GPS reticle in the status bar with a one pixel wide transparent image. It can be found here:

This second link also has the same as above but I added the following two mods to signal bars and battery. I'll do more colors later, this is just what I like for myself:

this is for stock....deodexed, do you want stock odexed?? I can probably do that if i have some time tonight. In fact now that i know vrtheme works, I'll just make a universal one for all roms. Give me a bit to do it.
Here is a universal version for all touchwiz roms. It doesnt replace the apk, its just a two image push so it should work. I didnt get to test it yet though.
Can someone test this on an odex rom and report back??

Could you help me do this? I'm not familiar with using smali. Maybe a step by step guide? I would like the gps icon removed without having the gap. Thank you

I take it this was for Deodex only? Didn't work with stock root.
Edit: Yea looked at zip. Deodexed guess tonight I'll get to downloading a deodexed rom.
