Using the Keyboard Dock for Games? - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Relatively new prime owner here and I just purchased the dock from best buy.
Is there any way I can use the arrow keys or WASD on the keyboard and map them to the controls of a game in an emulator or really any game with controller support?

Some of the joystick apps have means to map keyboard input to on-screen button presses. I know USB/BT Joystick does this, and I think the Sixaxis does too.

Sixaxis app works great for syncing your ps3 controller up..

USB/BT Joystick center works good to play games with keyboard
Play Modern Combat with Mouse & Keyboard
Asus Prime & Tapatalk

some games like shadowgun you can set keyboard keys for actions as if it were a computer game. More and more games are doing this because lots of people use apps like sixaxis to pair bluetooth controllers or keyboards to phones to play games.
And i would go with sixaxis personally, you can set regions of the screen to press, swype actions, its pretty awesome stuff (tho you need root for most of em)

Also unrelated but why are the 1 and 6 highlighted on the keyboard? Is there some sort of special shortcut they have?

I'd like to know this as well.. The up and down arrows are highlighted in a similar way. Any clues what that means?
Thanks!

Yes, ASUS has done this for many years on all their laptop keyboards. It's to help you identify certain important keys when in low light conditions. It makes those keys stand out from the others.
That is to say, there aren't any shortcuts to be found. It isn't a secret and there's nothing cryptic about it. Just a quick way to get oriented when the only light in the room is the screen, which is on minimum brightness.

Basically the APP should support the keys, some do, for example FPSE - PSX emulator for Android, has keyboard support.

the only special shortcut I am aware of is Shift+BackSpace - Delete key
(forward delete, not back delete, useful for text editing)

Full Screen Wiimote supporting emulator?

I'm using a Wiimote over bluetooth to play emulators, but the only ones i can find that support wiimote and classic controller are the Tiger emulators and they do not scale the screen properly. They apparently are not using the nooks full resolution, anyone know of any emulators that support wiimote that do support full screen on NC? Thanks!

Under Settings > Scaling mode > Scaled is the normal option that shows off games well, scaled. You can choose Stretched if you would like full blown full screen, but IMO it looks nasty with the games I have tried.

Min just stretches it a bit more. Not even close to the full screen. It ends up being about one fourth of the screen on said mode.

Might have to do with the game maybe? With the Tiger and yongzih's(sp?) emulators stretched makes them full screen for me like I mentioned. Sorry if I'm not really helping.
There is a few apps out there that allow you to use the wiimote with any emu apps, the one I see for free is Wiimote controller. I haven't tried it on the Nook, but it worked when I tried it on my droid a few months ago. I hope this helps.
all of the xxxoid apps support the wiimote. you have to go to the "other settings" option in settings and turn on"use input method" then turn off virtual keypad and configure key mappings both in the input settings

i meant the nesoid snesoid n64oid etc etc apps lol. the xxx's where just variables lol
I'm sure all the ones by yongzh work with the Wiimote, and he has a lite version for everything except PSX and N64 (Which are $6 each, IIRC).
I find that they're much higher quality than the Tiger emulators.
Man if I could get my BT work id be buying the psx and the 64 ones...
on CM7 17/18 it just turns right off not sure what to do to fix it
Same here, wiimote controlled works in tiger, but not xxxoid emus...
The key presses register when assigning them, just not-game. Has anyone found a workaround?
Or know how to get [email protected] screen? In game stretch option doesn't fill screen as others have noted
Thanks

You sure you've enabled special input methods in the options for the *oid emulator? You can map the keys normally, but they won't work in game unless you enable input method within the app.

Flash dalingrin's kernel for CM7. See if that improves your situation.
Link3737, thanks so much - found the setting n it worked like a charm!!! Awesome combination of wiimote and nook

Reboot your Nook. I have that problem like 1/3rd of the time but once its on, its on.
Snes EX is free right now in the market and supports multiple wiimotes right in the app. Works great with the classic controller (dedicated buttons for FF and load game).
yeah, yongzh' apps all allow for wiimote control. I've heard of other apps working through this program called "wiimote controller" in the marketplace, though I've never had the priviledge of doing so myself, so I can't vouch for its' authenticity. The program does exist, though 1 I've just never had a wiimote to try it myself.

[Q] Help with USB/BT Joystick Center app - analog sticks

I just got this app on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 using a Logitech F310 controller, switchable between X Input and Direct Input modes. After flashing a kernel module for X Input mode to work, I set up a "driver" in the app to map all the buttons/joysticks, then assigned those to DPAD UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT, button 1, button 2, etc. After mapping all of those in emulators, they work great.
One small problem though: no analog support on the joysticks. The driver creation part of the USB/BT Joystick Center app recognizes the full analog range, but I seem to only be able to assign it to on/off buttons. Thus, I only get to toggle between zero and full range movement, nowhere in between.
Is there a way to fix this, maybe using another app?
I've been looking for an answer to this as well... It's nice that I can now use all the buttons on my Xbox 360 controller, but I sure would like to have true analog stick support!
I got this app too but just cant figure out how to set it up, are there any help pages for it? tring to set up an old FF joystick which is recognised by the app but dont know where to proceed, thanks.

There is an Analog-Key Option update available. At this time two N64 emus are supporting this.

Shadowgun now available for Tegra 2

Hey guys,
Don't know if anyone will get mad for posting this but the "Gears of War" style game Shadowgun just barely released about 30min. ago on the tegra market.
This is pretty cool as us Photon users get too show off the power of our tegra phone first before other androids get it released at a later date.

Ya i did, played through the 1st level it's really good. The game looks like a unreal engine console game. The one thing that's impressing me a lot is the controls, compared to nova this is a lot more accurate. Another thing that is awesome compared to the ipod counterpart is it has gamepad support for joystick controllers, gonna get my ps3 controller hooked up later today and might get an hdmi cable as well. Not bad for 4.99!
i'm having a hard time getting the game to recognize the ps3 controller using the sixaxis app
anybody have any luck?
Edit: controller mappings to be able to play the game
figured it out. had to go into the settings of the sixaxis controller app and check the box next to bypass IME and then reconfigure button mappings in the sixaxis setting.
dpad center is for fire i set that to both R2 and R! plus the start key to be able to select menu options.
7 is for reload and i set that to L1 and L2
J is for analog 2 left
L is for analog 2 right
I is for analog 2 up
K is for analog 2 down
dpad left for analog 1 left
dpad right for analog 1 right
dpad up for analog 1 up
dpad down for analog 1 down
back for select which pause the game
off i go now to play!! hope this helps. if it does plz thank
edit 2: now i need to figure out switching weapons
A is for shotgun set that to square
D is for SMG set that to x
Nice well looks like I'll have to tab a few games to my sprint account lol

Awesome! I haven't bought the game yet, but I think I will. I use a bluetooth keyboard with my Iconia Tab (also with Tegra 2) so hopefully this means I can use my keyboard If not, I've got USB gamepads somewhere

Offical JB enables keyboard gaming

i just tests some games with the keyboard after updating to official JB rom. some of them work perfectly with the keyboard, allowing the arrows and the wasd to control your character. Others do have keyboard bind to the game but the keys are all over the place. Dose anyone know how to configure the keys?
Could you share which games you have installed that are working?

You could try Joystick Center 6 to map the keys out
the game indestructible works perfectly well wit the keyboard - the Wasd controls the direction. the arrow keys control the shooting direction.
Joystick center 6 works well but has a deadly bug in which the direction navigation doesn't re-center itself.

You need to buy sixaxis controller app from the play store. FIFA doesn't directly support the controller, so you'll have to set up touch emulation. Let me know if you need help with that, it is pretty straightforward, take a screenshot of the game and assign keys on the controller for different areas.

Unfortunately, there is no easy way around it. What I did is use a screen video recorder to record the screen and then take a screenshot of that. I don't have mine anymore so I can't share.
And you're right, there is no way to get full functionality of the skills buttons because of how they are setup. You can still get partial functionality by setting up sixaxis to emulate swipes in that area of the screen. Not a perfect solution, but I didn't miss the skill moves much anyway.
thanx
