LOL.. I could always elaborate...
I have somehow managed to convince an iPhone 4s user and a Nexus user (both close colleagues @ work) to switch to the AT&T Note just by allowing them to play with my toy. The Nexus user is a Verizon customer that is now seeking to switch to AT&T. That's pretty special IMO.

It does feel good when you show someone your phone and they automatically love it. I had a Dell Streak before the Note and converted 2 people from iphones to the Dell Streak. My dad even got the Streak but he converted from blackberry. Now my dad and i have the Note and we each have showed someone and both people got the Note when it was on sale at frys for $199.

Amen to that

I had a random awkward encounter today, but it still put a smile on my face. I was waiting for my next class and reading xda on my note, when a completely random girl, who I noticed had been standing nearby for about 5 minutes, walked by and simply said "nice phone" on her way into a neighboring class. I only had time to say thanks before she was in her class, but it was cool that she apparently knew what phone it was and acknowledged it.
Not that I'm looking for attention at all, but I love the simple conversations it can start with people, and I think people are really starting to realize how awesome Android phones can be. I enjoy showing people my Note and the awesome things it and Android can do.
With Android in general, I have loved being different from everybody that has an iPhone, which is seemingly everybody at my college. Even more so, I like how the Note stands out even more, as I guarantee not a single other phone on the market would have piqued that girls interest around my school, as all you see are iPhones, nor would she gave distinguished it from being any other old regular Android phone. This phone is turning heads, and people have taken a huge liking to Samsung recently.

I concur. This thing is amazing. It's my first android phone (I came from a BlackBerry background). It's great to have an "in-between" device that works well as both a phone and a tablet. I'm glad Samsung made such a "big" phone.

Glad to hear. Ive yet to see anyone carrying a Note in person besides me. But it doesnt bother me, makes me feel unique when I whip it out. All I see are people's eyes squinting at their little 3.5" inch screen (yes i'm talkin about the iPhone). Same sized screen since 2007, its old news. Go BIG or GTFO of here.
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke

no im kidding. lol

I'm still getting uninitiated attention in public randomly. This has carried over to the Note from the Streak.
Like if I'm in a regular shopping-type of center, and just standing around using my phone, some random passerby's will notice me and ask about what I'm holding.
But I definitely think this would stick out most in a university lecture hall type of environment.
From asking some random local at&t store sales reps, they said a good share of both genders have purchased the Note. I initially was guessing that it would be mostly guys buying them.

Craziest thing happened in my local ATT store...

I walked in lastnight to buy my Note and the sales lady greeted me. We talked about the note for a bit, went to the display model and gave it a quick whirl and then I went through with placing the order for my upgrade.
I was there maybe 35 - 40 minutes and during that time, the same display model that I had used earlier, was stolen. They just left the back of the case attached to the security plug and took the body/battery.
There had to have been about 12 - 15 ATT store employees there and no one saw anything. Ofcourse they have video and the IMEI number so as soon as the phone is activated they can shut it down, but that was just incredible to me that someone had the balls to pull a stunt like that.
Drama aside, I'm loving the hell out of my white note! I'm 6-1, 225 coming from an Atrix and now that 4" screen looks like a toy. My wife is appalled at the size, but she's an ifangirl so... what can ya do lol
Haha, an ifangirl eh? Have to work on that man! I'm loving this phone too and I'm also coming from an Atrix. HUGE improvement. Recently converted the parents from their isheepism to the dark side of Android. Now the dad is rocking a Razr Maxx and the mom is using a Galaxy Nexus (they are on Verizon.) I think I did pretty good with that conversion! Lol. They are addicted to Android now, like I am.
That's unreal it was stolen while you were there. You made a killer phone choice, enjoy.

I've converted my 2 brothers and their wives to Android though, all from iphones lol. I think I've done a fairly good job!
Yeah, the person who took the phone is on video and that IMEI is effectively a paperweight at this point. I hope it was worth it to the thief... I almost feel bad for that craig's list /ebay victim if they sell it that way.

I can pop the back off with my CommuteMate DashGrip pad. That thing sticks so well I was using it to vertically mount the Note for the drive home back from BestBuy. I don't have any finger nails to pry off the back so I can use it if needed, lol.

Yeah at my store in schaumburg, it happens literally once a month.... however, people are getting clever with it. This one guy stole an iPhone 4s but get this.... he replaced it with an iPhone 4! I tried to demo siri to someone and was literally like... dafuq is this? One other time some guy stole an lg thrill and we had a running joke that he was the one that got duped

S3 9million sold already. Bring on another Note!

S3 already has 9,000,000 pre-orders! Maybe this is the real iphone killer after all. Wonder if the success of this device will carry over to the next version of the Note? I am happy for Samsung cause they make great devices. My old Samsung Epix just recently stopped working after 4 years. Hope my Note makes it 4 years. I bet the Note will get 10,000,000 pre-orders.

I just don't get why people are asking for a new Note already. This note isn't even 6 months old and people want a new one? The note probably won't ever outsell smaller phones because the market for this size phone is small. As for phones being an Iphone killer, I'm tired of that statement too.

Nobody is crying here. Quite the opposite...I love my Note. I paid more for this phone than I did my TV. If your television had a bad screen when you bought it then it is ok because it isn't a movie theatre. Right? Other manufacturers don't have this issue and the leader of the cell market shouldn't either.
Does the S3 have this issue? If it doesn't then that means it is possible that the Note 2 might not. This is a media consumption device. The screen isnt this big just so you can make phone calls.
It also means the Note 2 might have a better processor which supposedly saves energy.
I would like to see the technology of the S3 incorporated into the next Note because I prefer the size of the Note.

I think it's awesome that Samsung has a couple of the best selling devices on the market. Good for them.

New job, got a new car, got an new iPhone 4s

I got a new job that came with a company car and an iPhone.
I am very happy about the car, the iphone not so much. I gave the iPhone fare chance (3 weeks) before deciding that I officially hate it. I have decided that I will be keeping my personal line (Evo 3D) and only use the iPhone for business stuff. I really don't see what the obsession is with the iPhone. IMO the iPhone 4s is crap when compared to my Evo 3D. The only thing that I like about it is that it feels like a solid phone, I don't think it could withstand a drop all to well though.
When I went into the apple store to buy a case for my iPhone this weekend the person asked me how long have I owned this iPhone for and I told her about 3 weeks. She then asked me how do I like it and being the honest person that I am I told her that its the biggest pos on the market right now and if I would have spent my own money on it I would have returned it the first day. I don't think that she expected to get an answer like that because she had a look on her face like I just shot her entire family. Needless to say she didn't help me pick out my case.
Question for anyone thats ever been in an apple store, doesnt it feel like you just walked into a cult. These people are like mindless sheep just grazing on the BS that is apple. I don't think I ever want to go back. Well that the end of my book.

No a simple it's not for me would have been fine. It's the biggest pos is overkill. The girl didn't build the phone, design the phone, or is tim cooks sister. You know he may not have said the actual words or even pos.to the person people do change stories to make them more dramatic even if they don't mean to hell he could have said its junk but put pos to give us a laugh. Also if she's making 10 a he at a iPhone store then I'm doing something wrong being a vet and making 10 a hr. I have worked in a grocery store as well and I understand the customer.thing but I NEVER ever expect someone to say I'm sorry for crap. Why because if they are rude to begin with I know they won't say sorry because people are selfish manors are a thing.of the past sadly for most people.

Only people I recommend iPhone to is those that aren't very tech savy because as long as they can tap icons they can work an iPhone. I can't have a phone with so much user limitations as the iPhone.
I remember one day I was with a few friends having dinner. Total of about 12 phones. 5 of them were androids.. Nobody's android phone looked the same physically and the homescreens were all nice and customized. The iPhone users were about 7 and they all looked the same. Most even had the same wallpaper. Reassured my love for Android.
I have nothing against apple.. It's just not for me.

Lol. When I went to pick out my first smart phone it was between the iPhone 4 and the HTC evo. I had done all the research and it came time to actually go to the store and look at the time. I was honestly going into it with an open mind after putting my apple hatred aside. I looked at the iPhone first and while it did have a very nice design, it just felt so boring. All you have is a background with a bunch of icons laid over it. I told the lady I wasn't impressed and I was thinking about the evo and she goes oh well we will have the HTC aria very soon I think you would like that. I kind of laughed and walked out lol.
Then I went to the sprint store. The evo blew my mind. The screen was HUGE, and I'm a sucker for big screens. Then it had all the widgets and the live wallpaper. And it had a freaking kick stand! I was sold right there.
Since then I've only grown to love android even more and everything you can do with it. My brother bought me the new iPad for my graduation and while the screen is incredible, again goes back to my first thoughts of ios. It's just so bland and boring. Browsing the web is very nice but that's about all I use it for.

I was leaning over the railing looking at the first floor ( Apple store is on second floor) I was texting my mom about the situation on the line, when an older gentlemen came up and tapped me, he asked "Do you like your phone" I was like of course I love it. He then asked was I going to be trading or selling it for the iPhone, I was like no way i fell for that with the ip4 then a month later traded it for the original galaxy and haven't looked back since owning every galaxy. He said me either then pulled out his I.D. he worked for Samsung Atlanta, and he flashed me his galaxy, and thanked me for my loyalty to Samsung gave me a $25 mediahub credit and gave a smirk to the fools in line haha. Not much but i thought it was cool

That is pretty legit I gotta say
Wow
thats awesome, cool story!
And yea this forum kicks ass
If your phone is custom you should've showed HIM what it was capable of
I think it's great that Samsung reps are trolling iphone launches!! Good call, Samsung!
This is pretty Gangsta man. These apple fruit cakes really annoy me with their one-sidedness.

Due to the positive nature of this thread and the overall goodness of the conversation going on in here we're gonna have to close this thread. Hah jk this IS awesome I love it when we get to see what truly great people we have here on xda. With all the crap we sift through here I know sometimes that feeling of community gets lost. Thanks for bringing it back .

If you don't use media hub il l be more than willing to redeem it for you! Lol
Almost justifies a trip to the Apple store. I've been in the apple store many times, but never a good experience like this.

Hmmm, that's not fair
I was pretending inline for iP5 after reading this story and hoped snagging a $$ gift certificate but I was just wasting my time.
After texting for almost an hour and still none of man left alone old man tapped my shoulder
However I spotted an Asian man wandering around the store, I came up and asked "R u Korean?" Amazingly the guy responded "yes" but then he added "from the North."
What the hell!

Funny things people say about your huge phone

So, my friend (she's an iZombie of course) just asked if my phone was the "S4 Note".
I know this probably more because of Samsung's S4 fragmentation with the zoom/active/mini etc. models but I have noticed I've gotten quite a few funny comments/questions about this device, and so far no where to share it in my favorite XDA section!
Some of you must have a few humorous comments that you've received, post them here and share the laughs.
"You can make calls on that thing?"
"Bet the porn on that screen is amazing"
"Wish my iphone was that big"
Sent from my note 2 ya bish!
You look like you're holding an iPad Mini to your ear (on days that I forget my BT Ear Piece)
Why are you using a tablet to take pictures (but that usually stops once they see the pics and I don't have to do endless scrolling on websites)
Apple is Innovative, just look at my perfectly sized 4" screen, to which I usually reply,,,,Android was innovative in 2010 when they started having 4" screens, and you don't see me having any issues holding my 5.5" phone.
Best one....at the office....my co-worker always running around, trying to find another Apple user to see if he can use his proprietary connector to charge his phone.....out of spite I put my USB Cable on his desk once.
It's that a Lcd TV?

"How do you fit that big thing in your pocket"
"Omg that is so huge can I hold it?"
Both things I would never hear ever without this phone!
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
"That thing is huge!"
Me: That(pointing to his iPhone)thing is small.
Or
"How do you fit that in your pocket?"
Usually there's some profanity in the first question lol but that's the one I get quite frequently. This phone is awesome!

lol the innuendos with how it's size and pockets are never ending.

A buddy of mine saw my phone for the first time and stated; "I see you decided to bring your flat-screen TV with you.... God Damn!"
Then he began to fumble around with his little IPhone (The smart phone for stupid people)...
Wuestsider X!

I occasionally get the "wow is that thing big" but alot of people around here either have a s3 s4 or note 2 so it doesn't really phase them. When i first got it is when I got alot of comments because it was still so new. A friend of mine asked me to see it (when a hot girl asks for your phone you just hand it over hahaha) but she is tiny, by tiny I mean 4'10" and maybe 110lbs. Well it truly looked like she was holding a tablet. Haha. That's when I saw how big it is. But I can never go back to a smaller phone now.
People: "how can you use a phone that big?"
Me: "I'm used to handling big things."

here lately, there are more note 2's or s4's than iphones at the hospital so not as many comments as there used to be.
I get it all the time at the university I work at. Big screen tv, 80's boombox, table for our food. I just wait until one of my coworkers tries to show a youtube video, I go to the same one, and then put my phone next to theirs. That usually quiets those types of people.

Lets watch youtube
Best comment yet by some random blonde woman.
How can you even use that, its so big... my reply its not hard if you are already accustomed to big equipment.
I was out eating hibachi for lunch yesterday and the the chef was talking about an old commercial and he seen my note on the table and told me to look it up on my Galaxy tablet!!
