Report issues with ICS leak here.. OP updated 5-1 with list - HTC Amaze 4G

I thought it would be a good idea to have a place where people can post their issues for others to see before they flash, or developers to fix when they build roms. Or, even better, we the users can try to troubleshoot the issues and confirm/share a fix with everyone else.
If you DO have issues, please state if you are using the stock RUU or one of the roms I'm sure will be pouring out over time..
*AND*
If anyone has any of these issues and can confirm please include in the title ISSUE or CONFIRMED(or workaround/fix along how it was done) in your post along with which issue and I will try to update the OP accordingly.
Example Title:
Code:
Confirmed: 5. Post #88 report of not detecting a wifi access point..
This will help me a lot with updating the OP and helping users find fixes, etc
Reported issues:
A few reports of both cores not being utilized properly(Screenshot of 1 core showing)(Confirmed post #171 this is only an issue if you think quadrant is a good program- it is "junk" )
Facebook not working properly(Potential fix reported #153 for root users: Uninstall facebook from /data/app folder and install from market- confirm if fixed)
Battery being TOO good(multiple times in this thread, lol) except #154 that reports unconfirmed worse battery when playing intensive apps/games
Multiple reports of reduced signal strength that fluctuates more(likely just a radio issue, build.prop edits linked in my signature helped me)
Post #88 report of not detecting a wifi access point- needs confirmation and troubleshooting if confirmed - punkmetalska please report your router settings.(Another user confirmed)
#100 the app screen filter doesn't turn off soft key lights(workaround- keyboard backlight controller or find posts here to edit init.d or use g-script(instructions post #121) to perm disable)
Post #107 issues changing font or startup/shutdown animations changes not sticking
Post #123 Unable to import backed up bookmarks from gingerbread(post #129 confirms)
Post #125 softbutton(?) lights will turn off if automatic brightness is not set
Post #128 removing lookout anti-virus speeds up response of phone
Post #132 Mutiple posts of system battery reporting 2%+ difference in battery than shown in pulldown bar after battery mod
Post #140 reports wifi disconnecting even though later explains wifi set to always on
Post #143 Reports issues with reg99 error for wifi calling and how it started working(in case it helps anyone)
Post #144 Issues changing features in stock keyboard, unable to choose which video player to use when opened in "mobile view"(stock browser?)
Post#145 reports white htc screen popping up intermittently, other users suggest battery pull helping and eventually it stops(building caches?)
Post #148 Reports issues sending MMS while connected to wifi, earlier post I'm too lazy to find also said this when wifi calling on
Post #150 Setcpu doesn't work, later posts give alternatives
Post #151 Stock messaging app doesn't show contact picture though contacts app does, possible fix in post #152(you'll have to search his posts for that day/time). Post #166 adds this issue and same with facebook and gtalk
Post #153 Reports "Camera "Manual Mode" image adjustment dials are impossible to read." *and* "USB OTG is missing. That is part of the android ics." -- I'm not sure I understand the issue, just reporting it here.
Post #157 Reports battery pull needed after phone would not wake from deep sleep- needs confirmation
Post #159 reports status bar can be pulled down without unlocking phone and slow keyboard(I have experienced this with all keyboard apps at random times)- Possible fix(for keyboard) go to main settings-develop options-background process limit(apps in cache) and set to 1-4, needs confirmation)
Post #160 Picasa pulldown in gallery app does not sync(needs confirm)
Post #163 Video button not working(needs confirm)
Post 193 Users reporting having to do a battery pull after phone has sat unused, confirmed by 1 user.
This is updated 4-28 to post #171, page 18

So far I've heard 2 people say it was kinda laggy and 1 person say only 1 core was running. I haven't flashed yet, but will be today. I got s=off, eng hboot, and the leak downloaded... So sometime soon

I am right there with you, my phone is prepped and ready to go-- I am just waiting till there is a little more feedback.. I have my old phone in case there is any headache getting switched I still have contact with the outside world, but I read the first 40 pages of the leak thread and it sounds pretty smooth if you understand how to do these things.

I use system tuner, it is a pretty bad ass app-- it should give a lot more detail about how the cores are running, even should have an option to choose how they run- but tons of features.. maybe you should check it out.
I am curious about the roms that will get produced, I would try capcombeta, but since it appears he did it for himself and has no intentions of supporting or continuing the rom, I think I will try the RUU later, or run it thru the kitchen myself adding and removing the things I like or don't like..
So to you two, on a 1-10 scale, how happy are you overall? Is it what you expected, more, or less? Have you tested everything? GPS? BT? WIFI? There must be SOME issues besides a little lag, lol.
And one of my few fears, at least because of experiences on my old phone-- if you wanted to go back to stock(or in our case, gingerbread) you had to be UBER careful to get the old kernels loaded before exiting CWM- simply restoring a nandroid did not do the trick.. so I am curious about what the process will be with our phones, if s-off means a nandroid backup would work perfectly, or if there would be extra steps to get back to gingerbread.

Couldn't be more happy with it, everything is working fine for me and battery seems to be lasting a lot longer so sar. Just install it and see

Yeah it works great for me too. Phone seems way faster and with more available memory than the previous update from T-Mobile. Face unlock is pretty sick too.

So I guess those of us on Telus will have to wait?? Anyone on Telus flashed this or would that be a mistake?

What are some avg. bench scores you are seeing?

As I use it... It resembles more of a stable 3.5 than a 4.0... It's my biggest gripe with 3.6

um about the same as my old milestone...~800 LOL. something isnt jiving right with ics and quadrant because it runs super laggy. even the framerate on the gpu testing was horrible. not sure what the deal is

icy blue
I have the ics ruu flashed on my stock phone (locked, s-on). The odd thing is that it seems to run faster but at the same time whenever I check "running apps" and "available ram" I have 532mb free at most so far but I have seen as low as 392mb. On gb I was averaging between 600-480's. ( I don't use many apps)
I really want to know if there is a way to get the icy blue ICS look for the notification bar/icons?
I mean this is ICS, HTC I don't think many people prefer your average looking Sense notification bar over what google offers with ICS. (I'm also not sure why they didn't just keep the google search bar and pulled down notification transparent)

Back to GB from official ICS. Anyone?

I did a NANDROID ICS backup and restore to GB. Since i gone to Official ICS i got max 2h30mins for battery with RootDim and Juice Defender. I have around 3h30mins with GB and all the same app installed.
Another reason to switch back is some apps are not working in ICS. Really disappointed For ICS. I was dying waiting for the official but.......

Weird. I average between 10-18 hours depending on how much I'm using my phone. And out of the 271 apps I've installed, I've only found 4 that wouldn't work.
I didn't find battery saver apps to help at all

Also over 200 apps. No problems. I got generally better battery life on F6, rooted, deodexed, etc.
People are going to say get rid of JD, and I have to agree, but to each his own. Have fun on gb.

What apps? I have yet to see an app that doesn't work in ICS.
And 2:30 vs 3:30 screen on, or total time? Sounds like your usage is different than everyone else considering most other people get 4-5 hours screen-on time. And screen-on time isn't the only way to measure battery life unless you have zero standby time and a known quantity of what's running in the background.
Sooo..

Really? Is this necessary?
This is dude's thread that you are crapping in. His comparison of 2:30 vs. 3:30 hours means more than you simply stating everyone else gets 4 to 5 hours.
That being said, I don't see a huge battery difference between ICS and GB.

I have seen a few apps that don't work in ICS. Some that are important to me. But the same thing happened in gingerbread. You have to wait till devs get all the apps updated. It is difficult since there are so many different devices that needs to be developed for differently.
And everyone's useage is different. Not sure what OP meant by 2:30-3:30 whether screen on or total but 4-5 hours screen on is not what everyone else is getting. It depends what you do with your phone. Maybe you sit and stare at your home page with a picture of you on it all day. But I use my phone. Much going on besides screen on. I hate to even call it a phone.
@sweetboy02125
Android does a good job taking care of itself. Apps like Juice Defender and maybe even Rootdim might do you more harm than good with newer ROMs.
No way I will be going back to GB!

Same here. Been flashing all the different ICS ROMs, and keep coming back to the Collective's Unofficial 1.1A2 with the holonote kernel. Only ROM where everything works the way I want. My apps are what make my phone useful, not the underlying OS.

Back to GB for me - I flashed just about everything (my two favorite ICS ROMS were Flappjaxxx's UCLF6 (FJ MOD - not AOSP) and Hotwire's CM9 - each of these was smooth and ran w/good battery life BUT.. I am back on Saurom V7 w/RC7.1. No ICS ROM that I've seen has the kind of functionality that I want - for example using the notification toggles to put the screen to sleep - such a simple thing and only found in Saurom. Or Wake on Volume (although a few ICS ROM's have this) - these are the things that really make my phone useful, not to mention a fully functional SPen memo app.
However, I am using Saurom with the UCLF6 Modem, OC'ing to 1.782 (min 192) w/SetCPU, ADW EX Launcher and it's smooth, about 3 hrs screen on time (lot's of texts, phone calls and Emails) and total of about 12-14 hours before I get to ~ 20%.
I'm happy!
This might be a dumb question but I will ask anyway. I also would like to go back to GB. I do not like rooting a all. So is there a way to go back to the official GB from the official ICS with out rooting?

I'm enjoying faster speed and less crashing on official ICS... Battery life is still the same for me. Poor.
Also many apps such as dolphin browser received speed improvements.... I'm really liking ICS over GB so far.
But I still find iPhone devices to be smoother than galaxy note on ICS... Well I know people will flame me instead of the OP now. Oh well

Any bugs you want HTC to know about?

hey guys, so some of you look familiar from the Rezound forums, good to see ya! I finally got a DNA and gave my rezound to my older brother for xmas, and much like last year, i've noticed a couple of bugs. the good thing is, though, that i was in touch with HTC tech support last year, where i actually spoke to them over the phone a few times over some bugs we had with the rezound. after noticing a few, i decided to open my old claim and talk with the same rep who i dealt with last year, as he was very knowledgeable and a great guy overall!
so a few bugs i've noticed so far:
1.) the audio/video delay lag, where in every video player, including youtube, audio lags behind video (thanks milan, i forgot which one it was lol)
2.) the home button lag much like the s3 with s-voice enabled
3.) not much of a bug, but for some stupid reason HTC enabled "auto enhance" on the camera by default! you can't turn it off. this was something big wtih the rezound that the number one thing we urged users who asked how to get good pics was to turn auto enhance off. it really softens the image and makes it look bad in low light, IMO. also, they made auto focus on by default and you can't switch it. i reported this, and he confirmed that it's just part of the software, but they do value our feedback, and i know for a fact this guy does, as the bug with audio recording on the rezound WAS fixed when 4.0 was OTA'd to it.
so i brought both of these up with them, and they're looking into it, which is great. anyone have any bugs they notice? i keep forgetting the little ones when it's time to write a reply to HTC, so it would be good to get them in here.
HTC def. does listen to us, guys.
either way, i LOVE this phone. so snappy, and has an amazing screen and form factor to it! the camera is great, but you just have to play around with the options to get a great pic. the audio sounds great with the beats as well. i've yet to get a wireless charger, but i think i'm going to start looking around for it.
great to be a part of the new community, guys!
When I power on my screen & drag down my notification bar to select a text it sends me to the first text from that person. This does not happen every time, but often enough.

The worst part is since I'm not rooted, I would have to go through and figure it out by uninstalling them or disabling them one by one. I don't see how I have a rogue app.
I can't even figure out where to start looking. Ughhhh.
Really to be honest at close to 5 hrs screen on time I will get 12 hours total. Is your phone 100% stock or do you have any maybe non kosher pirated apps going on that might not show up in that app. Kernel is still software related and I'm not understanding why yours is so out if wack with everybody else. You have complained about this in several threads now.

[Q] Insane Battery Drain (CM/AOKP/AOSP)

Maybe someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. Using a stock rom, I'm losing maybe 10% an hour worth of batter with pretty consistent usage, but when I try CM, or an AOKP like RootBox or an AOSP like CarbonROM, I'm burning at least 3x that at over 30% an hour, with very minimal usage. Is this normal? It seems somewhat excessive, and unusable, to expect a little over 3 hours on a full charge. Is it due to the stock ROMs handling the 4 cores better? It's worth noting that I'm running ROMs with the included kernels for each, without changing any speed settings for the processor, and under stock, I'm using Eco Mode, which obviously will help some, but there's still a very, very big difference. If someone can point me at a solid ROM with a good kernel and good settings for battery life, I'd appreciate it. I'm not a very big fan of LG's stock experience, and changing the launcher and lockscreen only goes so far. lol

Even the sound quality (Incoming call and outgoing) is so low on AOSP based roms like CM etc. CM has always been like that on call quality since my Captivate days. I tried all the ROM's here and found out stock is better once u remove/freeze bloat. May be for others its been better i guess.
Chris, when you install the AOSP rom's are you restoring any system apps with TiBu? I'm experiencing (and I dare say many others are as well) really good battery life with RootBox. Some rogue app you are using is causing the drain because that is not normal behavior.
Maybe just install the ROM, gapps, and that's it for a few hours to see if it runs normally, then slowly start adding in your favorite apps. That way you might be able to determine what it's causing the problem. You should also install better battery stats or Dr. Power.

No, I didn't restore from TiBu, but I'll give RootBox a go again if you're having a good experience. Are you on the latest build with the included kernel?

Yes, I am on the latest RB; however, I'm running the latest Houcha kernel. I might give the included a kernel another go on houstonn's next release. He told me last night he's doing some fine tuning on some things and hopes to have another release fairly soon...I don't know what "soon" is to every other person, so don't quote me on that. Personally, I'm not a fan of underclocking, and I tend to enjoy the additional cpu steps of Houcha over the included kernel.

Volume seems fine to me, but I use a Bluetooth headset. I don't like the volume on speakerphone, unless I'm in a quiet room. Also, if you use the Trickster Mod, it's got an option to increase volume in the settings, not sure if that requires that you have the faux sound version of a kernel or whatnot...

I'm on my second day on newest rootbox with included kernel. Running underclocked to 288 on the low end, smartmax governor. Unplugged this morning at 5:30 am. Hit 69% battery remaining when I picked my daughter up at 4:30 pm. Light use - 20 min screen on browsing, 15 min of phone calls, 40 min pandora on the ride home. One Google account syncing. FB and GNow active. Rest of the random background apps greenified. Wi-Fi and BT off.
It's definitely possible to get decent battery life on this ROM. As stated above, look for rogue apps. Better battery stats is my favorite app for doing this.

Apperantly houcha is now smoocha, love the names come up with lol. Just installed it on root box and it seems to be running great so far. The only thing that is obvious up front is the kernel is back to 3.4.0.

Thanks I'll run it for a couple days and give some feed back. So far its looking really promising...started off with about 80% battery before installing and managed to make it for close to 4 hours before going completely dead. Thats four hours of heavy use...web browsing, youtube, texting, flashing and editing apps. where im at my modem is working over time to keep signal plus massive machine interferance(long boring nights at the steel mill again lol) no tricks or tweaks either, auto sync, GPS, and WiFi (even thought not being used) were on.............its on lte too. So like i said it looks promising.

So I woke up to this screen on my LGOG this morning... It rebooted back into the ROM just fine though. Is this normal?

Anyway we can get Paranoidroid's Halo baked into this ROM like the Nexus 4 guys are doing here?

Looking into it today
btw, PMEM here.
Tried ION then PMEM (clean flashed both) and here's what I noticed: dialer FC'ed (read the forum and noticed that this was fixed ) but the worst part was the inability to turn it back on from sleep after a few times and maybe it's me but the battery life is just AWFUL. I went to a class and it went from 40% to 5% by the end of 3 hours. Oh and the frequent random boots are quite obnoxious. I will say ION seemed noticeably faster and I would run it saying there's more overall stability. I won't give up yet I know you can iron out the bugs. Keep up the good work!
Sounds like you may not have been on the included kernel. It's not nearly as unstable as you've described and my phone has been on it for days now without a single random reboot or bsod.

You're absolutely correct and it probably the safer route; however, ION is much more stable then you think and can be incredibly responsive. Just make sure you wipe everything x5 and you'll be alright. Also, I replaced the kernel with the Funky Kernel by snuzzo. Its much more stable and it definitely worth trying.

WiFi Tether on Rez Tachyon
@Neo
WiFi tether in the system menu says "Error" when I try to enable it.
I tried Barnacle WiFi Tether, and it says "Waiting until Wi-Fi is disabled"
I cannot disable or enable WiFi---it's simply grayed out. Perhaps I should try a reinstall of 1.1? I confirmed that I have that rev.
Thanks again for the great ROMs!
(Woulda posted to tachyon thread but for being a NooB---I did do the admonished search for answers...)

@Neo -- Thanks for uploading 1.1.5. I installed it and my WiFi and Tether still do not work. They worked fine on 1.1. I wiped system, cache, dalvik, and data before installing. I did not reflash boot.img since I was on 1.1 before. WiFi and tether worked great on 1.1. Perhaps I should move back to 1.1? I'm suprised that I have not seen other posts on this issue.

Try Smart Battery Saver from the Playstore. It has the option for Smart WiFi and might help solve your problem. Sorry, I do not know what caused the problem that made the WiFi shown as being ON 100% of the time.

I have the same issue. Are you stock, rooted, etc?
What's strange is if you look at the "awake" time on your image in the op it looks like it is going to sleep but shows otherwise on wake lock detector and BBS. I'm wondering if it's just a glitch that reports or interprets a permanent wake status when in fact there isn't. Using battery management software I've been able to get a .7%/hr discharge rate when the phone is idle. That's what I would expect, 7% drain in a ten hour period. Please correct me if this is still too high.
I never checked before rooting so I don't know if that was the cause. I'll probably factory reset after I update my baseband to match my firmware (mj4). If that doesn't work I'll probably just give up and just live with it as long as my discharge rate stays low.
I'll update after I'm done.

On this phone are a crazy number of WiFi settings. You may wish to fiddle with them all to get things where you want them. This drove me nuts, too.
Settings, WiFi, menu, advanced (see screen capture). Also running deep sleep app seems to help.
Hope this helps.

I've noticed that there are multiple apps sending out broadcast UDP packets, much more than one would expect. Most are headed to one or another of the google servers in San Jose. I would expect some form of occassional handshaking to sync or update location but not at this rate. Still, what perplexes me is that the discharge rate is within normal limits and the stock battery usage graph still has those little "awake" tics that typically register when the phone wakes up to do some housekeeping. I'm still needing to update my baseband (although I doubt that will make a difference). I'm also going to run a firewall app to see what happens.
This type of troubleshooting is lengthy and boring but since I'm home most of the time at least it offers me some brain drain every few hours (this also has become personal). If my next steps do not resolve this issue then I'll be going back to stock and root again only this time I don't care if I trip knox to 0x1. I like a good challenge but life is too short to take this issue to obsessiveness There is plenty of stuff out in the forums that I need to play with. Got's me some flash fever knocking at my door.

Hi alexv59, I'm stock rooted DeOdex freeza MJ4, nothing fancy, stock kernel, TWRP 2.6.3.7 recovery. Just viper4android, 4x1 reboot menu, and some harvested apps from other roms for my personal use. Stock SecSettings.apk. Either more WiFi options were added with MJ4, or you have to go into advanced WiFi settings (tapping the menu key from within WiFi gets you there, you may have to scroll down to see the choice).
Hope this helps.
