[Q] How do I get rid of this useless ereader service that is constantly running? - HTC EVO 3D

I have Watchdog Lite app, and it tells me that com.htc.ereader.drmengine is working above threshold all the time.
How do I get rid of it completely?
I'm sure it is causing my battery drain.

Are you rooted?
If so get titanium backup and uninstall the reader app.
EDIT......
Or better yet, if youre rooted get a different ROM.

Dude,
thanks for that - I am rooted, and the titanium backup route worked. Thanks (and thanked via button *tvb*)
Can you tell me now how to get rid of the app icon that is still in my app drawer, but is now unclickable?

Reboot and it should disappear.

[Q] Swype Beta 3.0

Hey I know someone posted this earlier but that thread died and never got answered ... So has anyone been able to get the swype beta three working on a temp root yet?

Got it! Haha

Mind elaborating?
Use titanium to uninstall the swype included stock, then use the beta installer.
Now available in 3D
I can't get tb to uninstall it completely.
EVO 3D - BAM!!
Worked for me...using the keyboard right now. Used titanium backup to uninstall stock swype then used the swype installer from the beta site to download and install 3.0. Id thing was the new swype installer started it was overwriting a previous copy but it installed correctly
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
I was able to get it by re-requesting the installer from the beta site.

Nooooo! I was just about to root for swype but don't see a ton of upside now.
Edit: yet.
Why is the beta swype so much more anticipated than the 3D swype?

The regular typing on the beta is night and day better than the default swype on the 3vo. The default one is horrendous at regular typing and predictions

You can also use Root Explorer, go into /system, search Swype and delete the two files that come up. That was the only way I was able to get Swype Installer to work.

Never having done this before I just want to be sure I understand... On my Rooted 3D, use Titanium to "Un-Install" and then load the Swype-Installer.apk on the SD card and install it like any other .apk?
Thanks in advance.

If you would still like to try to uninstall Swype on a production devices you will need to delete or rename /system/app/Swype.apk and /system/lib/libSwypecore.so before installing the Beta. I will stress that this is NOT SUPPORTED in anyway. Some firmware has other framework customizations by the carrier that will cause further complications if these files are removed. If you try to uninstall Swype from a production device and break it the only advice we can give you is to seek instructions on how to reload your device with the stock rom.

I knew about that, thanks. I was trying to confirm the process using Titanium and installing the app that pstevep posted. Just wanted to make sure of the exact process.
Here is a method for getting the new Swype that will servive a reboot. I did it and have rebooted several times and it keeps the swype beta.

Just takes a bit of searching but it is right here in this same section of the forum. Good luck.

Blockbuster wont install on eternity rom

Hey guys im trying to install the blockbuster apk on virus rom eternity. I put it in system/app and make the permissions right and it never shows up in the app drawer. How can I fix this?
Did you try to install it like a regular apk? It shouldn't have to be a system app.

I just tried to put it on my phone as well. No luck. Also running eternity. 1.4.1 how about you?
Not sure that it matters as blockbuster app says it detects a modified phone when you are rooted anyhow. bit it won't install on mine either. It says that the shared library is missing.

[Q] Restore selected apps with Titanium?

Ok, before I get flamed, I know there's a batch option in TB to restore all apps you have a backup of in one shot. However, I have backups of a bunch of apps I don't necessarily want installed right now, but I don't want deleted completely either. I'm running Newt's OneXXX RLS 1, and he just updated it to 2.1. I just got all my apps that I want installed on this, and don't feel like doing them one-by-one again if I update. My question is this: Is there a way to make a zip or something of just the apps I currently have installed on this ROM, and then to run it on the install of 2.1 so that only those apps will be installed? BTW, yes, I'm using Pro.
I just deselect the ones I don't want installed in batch.

I've been trying to figure out something like this too. Thought there might be a way to use labels to create a set of specific apps, haven't had time to mess around with it.

Best way to delete bloatware?

Ok guys, so ive just rooted my s3, and wanna get rid of some of the bloatware. Which is the best way to do this? Backup through titanium backup, and then unistall selected apps?
Thanx, gibbo.

Freeze these apps, Or there's a bloatware removal tool here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827817
Freezing with Titanium Backup is the best way -- that way the next time you update your software, they are still frozen.
Cool. Ok, I'll do that. Thanx

You still can uninstall the apps with free version.
Or you can use the bloatware removal tools

If your phone is already rooted and you are willing to take one more step, try one of the Omega ROMs. They letz you choose duifng installation what bloatware to install and what to omit. And you can always install previously omitted bloatware afterwards.

System apps able to be removed with htc app cleaner

Does anyone have a copy of those system apps that get deleted when unlocking the phone bootloader? I accidentally deleted them with the app removal wizard in the storage settings, and i don't wanna screw up the ability to install updates when they arrive. :'( would a factory reset fix this? I am not rooted or bootloader unlocked, I just removed the apps by mistake. Can't believe I made such a noob move after being here so long, lol. Can anyone help?

did you disable them or uninstall them. You have to be unlocked / rooted to uninstall them. It sounds like you just disabled them. If this is the case, go to the bottom of the all app list and you will see disabled apps. A factory reset will fix it as well.

That's actually not true. I was able to uninstall calculator, pdf viewer, tunein radio and soundhound without being rooted, and could have uninstalled ringtone trimmer and flashlight too, but i actually use them and didn't want to.

No you aren't flashing a rom you are just taking the APK's for the apps you said you uninstalled and installing them again. You said you uninstalled some apps that you want back right? so getting those apps from the Stock base Rom you will be able to reinstall them.
