I agree, i was not expecting such a solid lock in so few seconds. Amazing, indoors with overcast skies. Thanks Asus for making my tablet work wonderful with GPS now!

Unfortunately mine doesn't work nearly that well.
I'll have to fiddle around with it some more to see if there's something I'm doing wrong.

well, i doubt your doing something wrong... its just plug... no config to do... i tested while doing the gps monitoring, plug and unplug live... and you see the difference, i live in canada, im guesing your t-mobile that you are in the US ... should have a lot of satelite there...

It takes mine about 45 secs to a minute for it to find me in the Maps app. But I get a lock in about 20 seconds in the GPS Test app. Still, better than before.

GPS Problem [ Solved ]

Using GPS essentials app, I noticed it takes at least 8 satellites before I get a lock. I was wondering if there is anywhere to lower the number of required satellites to get a lock.
Not sure if this is even possible.

I hate the name of this app, but have you tried "GPS AIDS" yet?
That program was made more for SGS people, but other devices use it too with positive GPS lock results...
I'll try that app. I've used faster fix and other similar apps with no luck.
I finally found out why my GPS was slow/delayed to the point it was useless.
I took my phone apart. I noticed the cable that connects the GPS to the antanae was pulled out only by 1 mm from the clip that grounds it to the side of the case. It looked like it was plugged in and should work fine. But it did move slightly.
After I pushed it back in and rebooted I had a GPS lock in seconds. Not sure if this is the same problem any of you are having but it is possible.

Shows the wire and clip to the side of the case in the middle of the photo. In the photo he is disconnecting the GPS antanae.

Galaxy SII GPS, is it okay?

My trusty HD2 has just given up the ghost and I must buy a new phone. The single most important thing to me, other than phone calls is satellite navigation.
TomTom is not compatible with either Android or WM7 so I'll give CoPilot a go, but what phone? I've narrowed it down to SGS2 or HTC Sensation. I'm coming down in favour of SGS2, but is the GPS accurate and reliable or should I go for the Sensation?
Thanks in anticipation .
Hi,
GPS its ok for me, i have 2-3 DOP (Link).

Thanks .
Is it okay in "urban canyons"? I do a fair bit of city driving, which really shows up the men from the boys.
GPS is fast and reliable. Just don't buy a metallic case to put on on your phone as this will make GPS slow and unreliable.

Mine works fine, but sometimes it takes 45 seconds or so to get a fix on some satellites being outside with no high-rise buildings or anything.
Hi,

It's good on some devices and sucks on others, there was a few threads regarding precision and lock time.
Was not bad for me using stock 2.3.5, first lock would be about 3 minutes though... Worse than my HTC Desire. Other people report quick and accurate locks though.
After flashing Checkrom its less than 20 seconds and more accurate.
Hi,
use FasterFix (Link) from Market and get more accurancy and faster fix.

Would the ASUS Padfone have a keyboard dock? ala transformer?

May be im posting this in the wrong section.
so i just saw a video of a little hands on with of the ASUS Paadfone phone/tablet and it looks like it has connector holes at the bottom are just like the transformer prime and the OG transformer. For those of you that own either, lucky prime ownners......., im sure you notice how the tablets latch into the keyboard dock with the little hooks and the charger/connector right in the middle of the dock! Well the Padfone looks like it has a similar set up, actually it looks just like it. Could this be due to a keyboard dock?????? I would not be surprised if it does. In fact of ASUS doesn't then I soul be really disappointed.
What do you guys think????
Frame picture around 4 minutes and 20 seconds in to the video and video link.

NIce find...It think that it will fit the keyboard dock. Asus may release a dock made especially for the padfone.
I'm sure they will just like the prime

with 3g
I've seen this before too. Not entirely sure why but guessing it put the radios to sleep sort of to conserve battery on wifi. Like, perhaps it keeps enough signal to send and receive but doesn't need to power it enough for fast data. Just a guess though because I've still been able to send and receive texts and phone calls fine with the signal like that.

the wifi would be my guess. as for the no 3g but full signal is probably because you're standing right next to one of sprints towers.
My wifi is just as bad and my PS3 and computer are just fine... If you find out please share.

Any way to fix the wifi battery issue?

Over the weekend, I was out all day both days and I had pretty good battery life (easily lasted all day). Today, I was at work and on wifi all day and it died by 5:30pm (with 38min screen on time). Today was particularly bad but I've had horrible battery life every day that I've been at work. The only difference I can think of is wifi, since I actually use my phone less while I'm at work.
I've seen lots of discussion about issues with battery life that seemed to be caused by some wifi bug but I'm not sure if there's a conclusive fix other than just waiting for 5.1. Does anyone know why it only affects some users? Every review I've read says that they get 3-4h screen on time and I would have to guess that at least some reviewers use wifi.
I've disabled volte, smart network switch, and wifi calling, but those have not helped. Any other suggestions?
Gotta wait for 5.1. Same thing happened on Nexus 5.
