SuperNote discussion - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I have been using SuperNote to write notes for my classes, and I have some problems with it...
Anyone know if there is anything I/we can do to get Asus to fix some bugs?
I would love to be able to get a bug report to them so that they can maybe provide us with some updates in regards to this.
Problems (I'll add more as I remember):
- Export Notes does not export the photos or annotations
- Page 63 is exported as page 64
- When typing on the very last line, the view keeps going up and down
- There are no special characters
- it does not support basic keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+C Ctrl+V Ctrl+A (Esenthel)

Might help if you told us what you think is wrong with it.

you could get a logcat while you're doing those things that screw up and send it to asus?

A logcat huh... never thought of that...
Although the thing is, I don't think sending an e-mail to support at asus dot com will do any good...
I was kinda hoping that there might be a better way than doing that...
I like the app, but these little bugs are a little bit silly... I'm not a developer, but I don't think it's too hard to fix these... right...?

For me what's most annoying is that it does not support basic keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+C Ctrl+V Ctrl+A, I do have the keyboard dock, so I'd like to use it for full advantage

Ah yeah... that is annoying... lemme edit the top list and add that on.

for me, honestly, super note was disappointing. i was expecting it to be so much better.
some fixes id suggest if any rep is here, or if we wanna compile:
1. the limit on a page is annoying. youll be writing something and then it wont let you go down anymore. i know its replica of a4 paper, however, i think itd be better if itd continue downwards, like in Microsoft word.
2. the pixelation that occurs when you create an annotation and resize it.
so annoying!
3. already discussed, but the fact that a stylus doesnt work makes things hard
this sort of interrelates with point 2 above, because...
i for example will want to draw a graph. now to precisely label it, i cant do it with my finger, nor a stylus. so i have to draw it HUGE using annotation, then resize it to make it smaller. then it pixelates!
4. no autocorrect or the ability to correct. it just comes up with red lines.
5. - no change in font.
6. the ability to interchange the page type would be nice, for example: lined paper to graph paper.
7. when doing math, usually, i'd draw a line down the middle of my page to divide the page in half and thus have more working space. i wish this functionality was possible in supernote. i.e. divide the page and have your own custom sections in which you can write.
8. the lack of colours. theres only like 4! - black, blue, red, green!
9. the inability to record and type at the same time. - that includes voice recorder, and video recorder.
i have to open up the sound recorder app and use that, - this way i cant actually insert the sound clip into my notes.
10. following on from the point above, the inability to insert things! cant insert sound files, movie files!
thats all i can think of atm.

All of this! Lol
And I hate that even when you readjust the page after filling it up, when you start typing the freaking thing jumps up and puts all your words at the bottom, even intermittently throwing them off the screen.
I would definitely like to either see them put more work into this app so it truly is super, or I'd like to see someone pick it apart and create a new one that works right.

I moved this thread to the "Themes and Apps" forum because, well it just fits better here

FreeNote is much better then Supernote.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zdWlzaG91eGllLmZyZWVub3RlIl0.
- U can write xx pages.
- u can export notes to many apps for ex evernote.
- u can save file as pdf or photo.
- handwriting, keyboard writting, Keyboard+hand writting, touch keyboard with many options,
- u can draw all u want - not only letters and u dont to create separate sheets. U can do all these things on one page!
- and a lot of more!

I loved the app when i saw it, and after trying to use it once i disabled it.
I mainly use tablets to write histories apart from the obvious email and websurfing.
It force closed on me on a very long test note i was writing and all was lost, tried again this time copying and pasting a long piece of text and bam force close again.
To be honest i deeply regret buying the TF700
i have tried everything so far to replace a real laptop and it has proven a big waste of money...
I guess my last resot would be to try the iPad but i can't do that to myself i am afraid i might like it

It's worth the premium account then then offline works like a charm.

If i wanted to pay for simple tasks I would have got an iPad, wait no they come with a decent note application... (I tested my wife's)
here is a good note taking I found not as much fuzzy stuff as super notes but doesnt force closes every time a bird flys by

No it doesn't... Evernote works fine off line. It just waits to sync until you're connected, unless something has changed since the last time I used it.

I think that has more to do with the pen than Evernote. It sounds like the pen needs wifi. Is there an option to use bluetooth instead of wifi?
Sent from my SCH-R930 using xda app-developers app

No, not the pen, I transfered notes from the pen to evernotes, then tried to access the notes from evernotes and could not unless online

Yes, exactly. The pen uploads the notes to the Evernote cloud, so how would you be able to access them without the internet? Unless I'm misunderstanding you, this would be the problem regardless of what note app or service you use, unless the pen can somehow transfer the notes directly to the Prime. There is no service in the world that can access a cloud-based server without access to the internet.

Ohhh, you brave souls... haha
I was in the o2 shop this lunch having a play with their live unit (well, except it had no SIM or web connectivity. for this type of phone that's pretty limiting!)
some questions i was unable to get help with, i am hoping you have more experience of, before i consider the device further:
1. SMS display. i much prefer the look of iPhone's SMS "dual conversations" - its very clear which side of the chat is which and generally more friendly and usable. can the x10's change to this type of layout? rather than listing each reply above or below each other. found no options in the main settings area from the home screen (not sure if the context-specific settings under messaging is any different...?)
2. mac compatability. is this possible? can it sync properly with itunes? does it use a 3rd party app to do so? could this be "culled", ala blackberry/palm syncing with itunes? does the x10 appear as a mounted usb volume? (in this way, i could use applescript to manage the library - horrible, but it might work). someone with actual experience here with a mac would allay my fears, rather than commenting it might be possible (sorry if that seems abrupt in advance...)
3. other syncing needs. i guess most other aspects for sync'ing are removed/negated with an android handset - are we as users supposed to follow the "cloud computing" google-masterplan? do others sync with desktops and for what purpose?
4. browser/app zooming. the device doesnt have multi-touch (plenty covered on this, and other forums!) but, the iPhone has other methods of navigating around the browser and apps. i.e. double tapping a block of text, which i would consider a single fingered gesture. as the test unit i was playing had no web connectivity i couldnt test it out - can someone comment?
here's hoping for advantageous answers

1. use Handcent SMS , can make it look 100% like iPhone sms

1. Well, probably the handcent sms thingy, never tried it tho.
or you could go into contacts and find the contact there. When you go there the sms messages are listed in a simmular way as on the iPhone.
You on the right hand side
and you friend on the left..
3. I have just used the Cloud sync method to be honest, haven't really bothered to do it in any other way. But there is probably a way to do it.
4. The zooming is no problem to be honest, the double-tap to zoom thing works good enough. So I have to say that I kinda like it Even tho the multi-touch zoom was handy every now and then..
1. handcent works fine on this phone, and has customisable colours and themes.
2. can't comment on mac, but it is APPARENTLY possible to sync with itunes for the PC through iTunes Agent. I know this won't help you but it might help someone else reading this later.
3. cloud seems to be the way forward, and it works great on the x10. when you first plug it in to the usb though you get the option to install some sony ericsson syncing software, which is the same as i used for my c902 to transfer all my contacts to gmail for this phone. it is pretty simple to use.
4. the default zoom on the android is nice to use. browsers like dolphin (available from the market) come with their own zoom, but i disabled this cos the x10 seems to handle it nicely natively.
hope that helps
1. handsent sms. hmmmm... that does look more along the lines that i was thinking for layout/design. but i'm guessing this wont play nice with the timescape app, which seems pretty central.
i thought i went into the individual contact at one point, and it had the same appearance as when displayed under the general. i may make a return visit to the store to check that out...
i dont think i would mind using separately bought apps, but 1 of the biggest selling points seems to be the timescape so not sure i'd want to miss out on using it. though might change once i have used it for a while...
2. here's hoping eventually a mac user stumbles across this thread and is in a giving mood about their experience.
3. cloud syncing. suppose i can get onboard. not a massive issue not to rely on desktop software. i guess this means no-one really sync's it with a desktop then?]
4. glad of the double-tap zoom, atleast thats something. and its generally how i start to zoom on iPhone (in the browser) but how does this work in other apps? i.e. google maps cant double tap, as there's no "frame border" to sync the tap too...
this could a deal breaker for me, for this product. not a massive app user, but love web browsing on these devices when out-and-about. fine control offered by pinch/zoom far more refined and easier to use than the clunky zoom button, which just didnt seem to refresh fast enough to make it smooth...
maybe wont get onboard with all these bits until i consistently use the device, but not paying best part of £500 to find out!
please continue with more insights if you got 'em
2. mac compatability. is this possible? can it sync properly with itunes? does it use a 3rd party app to do so? could this be "culled", ala blackberry/palm syncing with itunes? does the x10 appear as a mounted usb volume? hi, Mac user here. Yes it mounts like a USB-HDD, and turns off in the phone. So you can transfere files, and then just unmount it. Transfered 7 GB of musik files, no problem.

even with that installed, the other messaging app still runs. handsent simply becomes the default. this means that when you load up timescape, it pulls in the messages from the standard messages app and works like a charm.
its a shame we cant just use the screen under the contact to send a message, that looks pretty good. click onto a contact, and scoll along at the bottom, past call log, onto messaging. that is a sweet screen.

Adress book and iCal has support for google sync, just enable it in the prefs and then everything syncs from google.
Just enter your gmail details.

I dont know about all the other questions, but did you mean something this? (Oh, crap! Where is my image? Ok, no image, dont know how to get one into this post)
I mean from it you see exactly who is on which side of the conversation

what app is you use when you take notes?

I feel inconvenience using flyer basic memo app.
Because virtual keyboard pops up suddenly, and note is automatically saved with pause.
Do you think that app is useful?
If you guys are using other note app, please inform me what app it is.

Well when I still was running the HTC Flyer on Gingerbread, I used notes and someone had a good tip: Press your left hand thumb on the left side of the page (the very left where you can't write on anyway). Just hold the thumb down while you are writing and the keyboard wont come up and also the softbuttons wont trigger eventually.
This actually made the notes app quiet useful.
However - since I mostly annotate pdfs I moved to Honeycomb and use ezpdf in combination with tapeatalk (tapeatalk is the best solution for audio recording anyway since the file is automatically named as a date and even with 3gp the voice recording quality is good - it also never crashes while notes has its problems with multitasking, audio recording, saving and notetaking at the same time).
My suggestion: Move on to Honeycomb - you will find more sophisticated solutions (others also mentioned handwriting recognition with writepad).
Have fun!
i moved on to hc
i'm satisfied with hc! lol
thanks for your advice

Cool, although... I wish it could be disabled instead.
I found it useful to use a Null Keyboard. I think there are only a few on the market, one of which is free. You would just enable the null keyboard in settings, long press in HTC Notes and choose the Input Method as the null keyboard. No keyboard would popup if you activate a text cursor. That solution worked better in Gingerbread from what I remember. In Honeycomb, the null keyboard also disabled the pens button, whereas I think you could still access the pens in Gingerbread.
Mind me asking, but are there any folks out that would say that the keyboard popup annoyance is way bigger on Honeycomb compared to Gingerbread? I had a really long meeting on Friday where I constantly fought with the keyboard, and it went a bit better on Gingerbread as far as I remember.
As for the null keyboard. Let's assume it's working the way as intended - wouldn't that mean I'd always had to switch to a full keyboard once I want to use one in a different app (e.g. 'the browser')?
I really use the USP of the Flyer (i.e. the notes option) heavily in my job, so I am keen on getting the keyboard thing solved for once .
I don't think the popup problem is any bigger in Honeycomb, in my experience. I just use the same put-your-finger-on-the-spiral trick that Himmig mentioned earlier, which works maybe 80% of the time.
Yes, you do have to switch back from the null keyboard. It's one-too-many long-presses away for me to be able to call it convenient, but it works OK (again, only in gingerbread). If the null keyboard didn't turn off the pens in honeycomb, it would have been perfect because there is a keyboard-selection panel next to the notification area where you can quickly switch between keyboards. Perhaps this is not the case for all null keyboards?

This finger trick works like a charm!!
Also, I use the stock note app and even though it is not perfect, it gets the job done very well! I have not used a single sheet of paper since the beginning of this semester.
Even though, the flyer went on sale for 300 last week and I lost 200 bucks, it has been the best money I've spent! I absolutely love this tablet!
Regards.
Hello,
Let me comment also about this subject...
Flyer's most outstanding feature is that pen and it's really hard to understand why HTC was ok with that simple built in Notes (even it's Evernote for HTC) and didn't bring a really powerful note take application to make a full use of the pen.
I don't want to fire any polemics but if this innovation would have been introduced by Apple, you couldn't have imagine how they would promote it with a bundled strong application with it (even paid one). Anyway, this is some other topic...
Now, I also use Notes synched with Evernote but there are some issues. I have a number of notebooks but they aren't fully synched with Evernote. In one sync session say only 3 notebooks, in other 4 but never the all. Second, the well-mentioned keyboard issue. Since I'm left handed the trick didn't work me so well.
Now I'm in HC and using an app called "Antipaper Notes". I liked it very much but the trial version is too limited. I would like to buy the pro version (or "activation" with their wording) but they say it's deactivated say when you flash a custom rom or delete app. So I didn't go for it. But as I told the app is quite well.
I also heard about Quill but didn't have any chance to try it out. I've tried Skitch, a product of Evernote, which is also better for hand notetaking. If you don't have to take a photo or record a sound, these seem to very well.
I expect HTC to make powerful applications for the pen at least for note, sketch and paint. Ok, they've released Pen SDK but still we don't have good bundled SWs.
To sum up,
1. Antipaper Notes (tried, very well but restricted)
2. Skitch (over the average, good note take)
3. Native Notes (don't like that but using)
If you have tried different programs, could you please add up and comment so that we can try?
Thanks.
I can suggest all of you to use tasker to automatically switch between null keyboard in notes and stock/other keyboard in other applications. I have successfully make tasker profile for this task. But you must install secure setting plugin to give tasker access to Android secure setting!
If you use null keyboard in native Notes, there will be no lag even though we used it for speed writing. Just like wacom tablet PC!

That sounds interesting, maybe good to give a try. Btw, are u using GB or HC? I am using HC and wonder if these are compatible with HC. Guess found out when I go home...
Edit: iwansuryo, could you please detail how to create a profile in tasker? I couldn't figure out how to make switch in between apps?
You need the secure setting plug in and null keyboard. Set a task that when notes opens the input method is null keyboard. Make the exit task that the input method is whatever keyboard you use

here is the trick I use to avoid the keyboard popping up. always ensure the pen is pressured and pressed on the screen before placing the rest of the hand on the screen. once you do that, you can freely move your hand and even lift both your hand and pen off the screen and go back on the screen palm first ( if you do it quickly ) as you would normally when writing. it takes some practice, but it will become second nature in no time. I find it work better than the thumb trick.
The BIGGEST downfall is that handwritting to text is so bad :\
The Lenovo tablet works ok, but it isn't too good of a general note taking app.
I wish the HTC note app supported conversion, would improve it 10X, especially since the majority of note taking I take gets converted into One note text doc.

[Q] Some questions pre-sale.

Basically I intend to buy this as a primary note taking device for lecture for this coming semester and beyond and I have some questions.
Firstly what is the best tablet office apps that work well with the hardware keyboard? I had a play with Polaris in a shop on the original Transformer but I'm just wondering if there is better out there.
It'd be nice if there was like an automatic save every 30 seconds/minute or similar feature.
Also it'd be VERY useful if there was an app that allowed me to open two files at once. So I could, say, have an editable .doc open on one side of the screen and a .ppt on the other...
Secondly how is the physical keyboard? Like I said I played with the Transformer recently and the keyboard seemed pretty nice. A little bit small but something I could get used to/fast on.
Might add more if I think of them.
Thanks, G.

I nabbed the Smart Office APK in the Getjar $0 sale and it seems decent on my phone, does it have a tablet interface?
See I would love to use Google Docs but I heard it requires internet to work and due to the way my university's WiFi security is I'll only be able to use internet with apps that support proxy routing (as Android doesn't have this built in to the OS).
Yes the tablet interface is very nice I like it a lot

Is it possible to have the edit option on screen always/in easy use?
I'll be keen to change formatting to underline/bold/italics etc quite often.
Also, how quickly can one jump in and out of list options?
EDIT: also how quickly can one "tab" in an indent and then get back out of it?
I would say for what you want this may not be for you
edit bar does not stay open but jumping into options is just a press of button
For you, you may want documents to go or office suite 5 I read good reviews of those

Anyone else have input? Specific to my needs if possible
I had an original transformer, just got my prime yesterday.
I used my tf last two semesters for all my classes.
I usually use the pre-loaded supernote app to take notes. It takes kb input and you can draw as well (useful for science classes).
my teachers give us power point lecture slides and for that the polaris office is pretty good, I haven't tried the other office apps, but polaris should do most of what you throw at it.
Some of my teachers give pdf lecture notes, I use repligo reader to annotate on pdf.

Just gonna bump this in the hope that someone can direct me to something that might help me more.
This PDF annotation software will help as I need to deal with a lot of case law etc.
I'm guessing that there is nothing out there currently that supports having two documents open at once side by side as I said above?
Main requirement would be snappy formatting (Bold/Underline/Italic), can this be done in Polaris with CTRL+B/U/I?.
Also the list thing, I know it's not automatic when tabbing like in Word but an easy/quick to use button is fine.

Also the list thing, I know it's not automatic when tabbing like in Word but an easy/quick to use button is fine.

no, there is currently no way of running two apps at the same time, it's a limitation of all mobile based OS's, everything essentially runs in full screen mode.
the CTRL commands should work fine, i'm pretty sure i used them for various things on my tf101.
Are any of these aforementioned office suit apps compatible with odt (OpenOffice format)?

It's not about running two apps at once. It's about one app having two files open at once.
Say a word document on the left and then a powerpoint on the right.
I doubted it'd be available. Maybe it'll come.

[Q] Best apps for a college student?

So i want to make this pretty straight forward, I'm in college, I like to read my books on my tablet, I like to do all sorts of work on my tablet and until now I was a iLoser carrying around an iPad 2 which I had plenty of apps that I became accustomed too. That said, I now rock the Prime and the Galaxy SII skyrocket. I love android much more than crApple's ios. Can I get any student/professor/anybody that uses their fancy new hardware for work and the occasionally play to give me some great apps tips for the tablet? (first thing I downloaded was Evernote!)? Thanks a bunch! Perhaps if we get a bunch of suggestions we can make a section in the app's section for "school" or maybe "productivity" I also want to add that while I don't have the dock (yet) I will be purchasing one when I see it in stores. (whenever that is!)
*if everyone likes the idea of a productivity/school thread in the apps section I wouldn't mind making it and updating it.
(1) Android Office - The most complete office app I know. It's even got a spell checker.
(2) Ezpdf - best for hand write directly into your pdf files.
(3) Repligo - Best for opening very large pdf files. I use it to open and use regularly a pdf file that is 2000+ pages with lots of images. Renders pages instantly.
(4) Printershare - print through cloud print or through wireless.
(5) Writepad stylus - note taking app with palm rejection, meaning you can rest your hand on the screen and still be able to write. Can save your notes as pdf docs.
(6) Antipaper - Another note taking app that has palm rejection.
FYI, all of these apps were free at one point or other on amazon appstore.

I checked out both and one of the biggest problems I have with both is that I don't seem to be able to make folders to put notebooks in. I would want to have folders for each class, and then within the folder each notebook would be a lecture. Fairly surprised I cant do somethjing like that so not sure if I am missing something

Well, you could create your own folders. After you're done with a particular class, you could output the saved notes for that day as pdf and then store it in your own folder.
Or you could make several notebooks, one for each class, and then keep writing into the notebooks as if it's a paper notebook.
Added by edit.
Another idea is this. Just make blank pdf files or pdf files with lines and then use something like ezpdf or repligo to write directly into the pdf file.
Just a couple ideas.
The main idea is make due with what you have. Be creative. Don't just have a set of ideas of what you want and then get stumped when you can't do exactly what you want.
Oh yah it wouldn't be a big deal if I couldn't, just wanted to check if I was missing some way to do it.
If I can't make folders so long as I name them correctly it shouldnt be a problem since I can do a search for notebooks which should work out the same as a folder so long as my naming is good.
I should probably do the whole export and put in my own folders anyways as a just in case

I seem not be able to find it on any market.
You don´t happen to have a description/link, do you?
EDIT: I suppose you were talking about androffice, right?
In this case, I found it. But it looks like it doesn´t support .***x files, or does it?
Also it doesn´t support formulas in word documents, right?
Due to the nature of the lecture and slides it's best if I annotate/markup the slides themselves so Ive been using ezpdf, but I really like the ease of use and features of the stylus/handwriting, especially the zoom feature on antipaper (Ive seen this on some ipad pdf reader as well ). So are the any note taking apps that allow you to draw on pdfs, or any pdf reader/editors with more robust annotation/markup tools?

You can zoom in on your pdf in ezpdf (double tap, or two finger.... opposite of pinch) and do your annotations like that if you need to get closer for your notes.
And when you are zoomed in and have free hand annotations selected, you can use 2 fingers to scroll around even while still in annotation mode.
As for the repligo suggestion I personally found it not quite as nice for annotations because you have to do 3 taps just to start an annotation. Once to bring up menu's, once to select the menu, then again to select "draw freehand", where with ezpdf its just one click on the top bar and your going.
edit. If you are taking lots of notes off of powerpoint/pdf slides, check out this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1435453
With some help figured out how to add some extra blank space to the side of my slides for added room for notes (so the slide takes pretty well the whole screen and all of it is capable of annotating on.

Yeah I've tried all the apps mentioned in this thread, i was asking if there are any pdf annotation apps with the feature set of a stand alone hand writing app. I don't feel like ezpdf and repligo have the robust annotation features that i want.

yeah that's why I've been using ezpdf as of late, i especially Luke the fact that you can resize all the annotations after the fact. And thanks for the link

what about the stock supernote app? Also, you could try just saving extra blank PDFs to your TP with lines in them (ie lined paper), as someone else suggested.

I've found Dropbox to be really helpful. Not really an android specific app but it has been really helpful in group projects and case write-ups I need to access for class discussions.

How can you even use this? I've tried but trying to write small letters on this is impossible. All i get withthis program are small lines and dots.

[Q] Questions about S-Note

1. Can I set the background to a default image?
2. Can I create and customize a set or "profile" for the different writing tips and colors? For example, if I like using a blue colored grid for working math problems, but a plan notebook paper background for literature (or something) could I create 2 sets or profiles to choose from so that it loads all my presets in the order I set up?
More to come as they come to me...
Thanks in advance.
3. can someone confirm that you can open two instances of snote to view to different notes at the same time?

Gina...to answer your questions...
1. Yes ... You can set the background as a default image
2. Yes ... You can have a blue bread for math problems if you like and yes you can have notebook paper for general text if you prefer both within the same notebook but different pages if you like. If that makes sense?
3. No... I think I answer this question for you yesterday but if not here's your answer again. No you cannot have two instances of s note opened at the same time. You can however have an instance of s note and lecture notes if you so prefer. I'm sure after the developers get ahold of the code they can modify it so you can have two instances of s notes running
I hope this answers your questions

First off THANKS! I appreciate the info. Secondly, I'm sorry, I worded my second question incorrectly. In the first gen model you can have a preset array of writing times in whatever color you want. That way you can just click the S-pen and cycle through the list you made. But I"m finding that a certain set of colors works better for different situations so i was wondering if I could create multiple sets of writing tips so I could have a set for math with pen tips colored to show up well against the blue grid etc.
As for the last one thanks for telling me again. When I heard that I was really REALLY bummed and almost decided not to get the note. I"m hold out hope that a dev will enable multiple instances of s-note or I may switch over to lecture notes completely. with the 25 good play credits I'm thinking I may get it. I like that you can modify the dimensions of the page. Also I've heard that it's a more powerful application all together and considering what i've heard of s-note so far i'm leaning more towards lecture notes.
One last question for anyone out there who knows.. Is it possible to quickly and easily transfer my files from snote to lecture notes while maintaing the tree structure?
Quick question for those who use SNote - does the new version allow you to import files directly from Dropbox or the Gallery instead of going straight to My Files?
Has anyone figured out how to import PDF files in the new version of S Note? I used to do this all of the time in the old version but can't find out how to do it in the latest version.

Wow I didn't even try to work with S Note long enough to realize importing PDF's was (seemingly) gone. I can't figure out how to do it and I wonder if it's at all possible anymore. I went ahead and got lecture notes and I'm actually much happier with it. I hate the new structure of s note... it seems like you can't create folders and view multiple folders and files like you could in the old one. It's a shame too cause I had a LOT of notes in them...
Found it!

To import pdf's into S-note:
-while on the start up screen, click on 'recent notes' in the top left corner
-when that opens, touch 'settings' button and select 'import'
-select from which location you want to import (my files, google drive etc) and what the file kind is (s notes or pdf)
-Done

I also would like to know if there is a way to set up presets in Snote. Seeing how the old SNote worked in the first 10.1, I was excited to get the 10.1 2014 Edition for that reason. But I can't even preset my eraser. Not happy about that.
Guess I'm going to have to look into Lecture Notes.

The new s note is horrible imo. Cycling through presets no longer works and the UI isn't easy to work with. I'd really like to be able to create a tree structure of notebooks within folders. I switched to Lecture Notes. Functionally it's much better (than the old one at least. I haven't work in the new one enough to really make the claim).

I totally agree. I tried and tried to make myself like it but it's just not logically functional as what I experienced with my Note 2. Always admired the original 10.1's Snote.
Are you using the free version of Lecture Notes or the pro version? I've tried Lecture Notes and I've noticed the fluidity in that one is much more smooth which I appreciate. Just wanted to know what I would be gaining if I go the Pro version.
Pro version allows you to have more than 2 notebooks. Also, anyone know how to highlight text in lecture notes or import multiple pdfs at a time?

Hey guys this is kind of unrelated to the current discussion but, have any of you been able to use the screen recording function within s-note . I Know the previous note could do this, and that was one of the main reasons I got this Tab. I want to be able to solve a problem and watch the recording I made later. Any help is much appreciated.

I got it to work with the voice recording add-on (haven't purchased the video). If you zoom in during playback it will pan to what you were writing at the time you were talking/recording. Unfortunately it doesn't add text as you go, you start with the finished page and pan around.

To highlight text, I created a custom pencil with the color I wanted, a thick width and chose the 'pencil draws behind other colors option'.
Does anyone know how to take a note in s note in portrait to imitate a sheet of paper? I seem to only be able to do this if I import a pdf.
