SGP & Case for Transformer Prime - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Just checking the Ultimate list up there on the first page, I notice that the TF101 is listed, but not the TF201. Is it possible to use the 101 screen protector for the TFP?
Would any harm come of it if I did? Does anyone have any recommendations on a dry application screen protector?
I was also wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a case similar to the fabric of the Ipad's magnetic "easy" cover or whatever it is called. I purchased this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0063Q3G3I/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01
But my only problem with it is the bulk and how much space it takes up when attempting to prop it up.

The original Transformer and the Prime have different sized screens, also the cameras and light sensors are in different places on the two tablets. I don't think you would damage your tablet by applying a non-fitting screen protector, but it probably won't look good and it might peel off easier than it otherwise would have. Plenty of companies make screen protectors for the Prime but most of them have a rubbery feeling. If you don't mind the rubbery feel I would suggest the Skinomi screen protector.
This case:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sikai-ASUS-...ccessories&hash=item27c5a15016#ht_7226wt_1344
is made from a material that is very similar to the iPad smart cover. It also has a loop to hold a stylus, and the cover stays closed magnetically. This case is also super-thin. The thinnest I have found so far.

Ghost Armor makes a great screen protector for the Prime. I'm using their clear full body on mine and I couldn't be happier with it!!
Not really any thin cases out there for us yet, though I hope that changes because I'd love one. There is a thread in this section where a member is attempting to produce some hard, thin, snap-on cases. He has a prototype already and I hope he gets them produced here soon as I'll buy one immediately and I know many others will too.

I ended up trying three different screen protectors (due to different factors), the last being the ACase Screen protector.
Comes three in a pack, fits perfectly, dry apply. Looks GREAT! You really need to look very close to even know that it's on, and it's thin enough to slip in the keyboard dock without any interference.
Highly recommended.

Is Skinomi dry apply or wet? When I initially take it off the sheet that is given, it feels like a dry apply, but I don't understand why they give you that liquid. If it is wet apply, than I do understand. I just don't think I am either doing the wet apply right, or wet apply just straight up sucks. :\
Also, thanks so far for your help guys. I did order the sikai case, we will see how I like it when it gets here. Too bad they don't ship through Amazon, as I would have definitely liked to go through there rather than ebay.

Durability using only the dock

I just sold my GalaxyTab 10.1 to afford a new TF Prime and I have a question regarding its durability.
My GT10.1 was encased in an ultra-slim roocase that worked wonderfully, and I never had any qualms with tossing it into my messenger bag or backpack. I plan on using the new Prime with the lapdock and for those of you with experience of that TF101 combo, would you recommend getting an additional case for protection? Just to be clear, it will mainly be transported in a canvas messenger bag.
I was thinking that maybe the best solution is some time of neoprene or hard shell sleeve?
Once docked the Screen is perfecly safe so except some scratch on the shell you should not have any issues. Now if you drop your bag on a hard floor with the Prime in it, maybe it could broke.
My advice, buy a neoprene case.
see as far as durability is concern i would prefer to have a screen guard for the tablets rather than any other case as i personally believes as the screen is the most important thing while we concern any such smart devices.
I am almost assuredly getting a matte screen protector for it as I loved the SGP one I had on my GalaxyTab10.1.
I will also be receiving the keyboard dock around Christmas. So with the tablet plugged in and closed like a laptop the screen itself won't be exposed to anything. I'm asking that since it has an all metal construction and no moving parts if it would be safe/durable enough to put that alone in a book bag with other stuff.

I do that now with my original Transformer and dock. It's as secure as putting any other notebook-style device in a bag. I'll put it this way: however you'd carry a notebook, you can carry the Transformer (and I'm assuming the Prime) when docked.

I thinks it's actually high quality plastic with a brushed metal look to it. The back not actually metal. I thought it was metal also until I've seen some reviews and sites stating otherwise. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Regardless everyone saying the build quality is very solid and well done.

Nope, it's metal. The pattern gives it a different feel than the aluminum on the iPad 2, the reviewers say, but it's definitely metal. In fact, it's 99.9% metal and glass, with only the buttons being plastic.

It was TechnoBuffalo. I'm still not 100% that he was wrong though. Guess I'll find out soon enough.

ZAGG invisibleSHIELD Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime Screen Protector?

My transformer prime hasn't arrived yet, but it should any day now. I'd like to have a screen protector ready to apply when I unbox the tablet.
Has anyone here used this ZAGG invisibleSHIELD with their Transformer Prime? Does it actually fit right on the front and back? Are there any issues with clarity? Does it still allow your finger to slide smoothly across the screen like it's supposed to?
zagg.com/invisibleshield/asus-eee-pad-transformer-prime-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php (bad link due to low post count)
Please post your own review, or link any other reviews you find in this thread.
----
Update: I went ahead and ordered it, since it has a lot of good reviews with other devices. If you order the full body version from zagg.com you automatically get free shipping. Using the coupon code "fbfans25" will also remove $10 from the price.
Looks the same as Extreme Guard for twice the price.
I got the Extreme Guard one and even though the back skin looks and works great, I wasn't too thrilled with the screen protector due to it being slightly (very) off and I couldn't get it lined perfectly and ended up throwing it away.
I ordered the full protector and it's on it's way. I have really liked the Zagg products in the past on other devices. I will post an update when I get mine and have it installed.

Let us know if it fits in the dock if you have one. I know the skinomi skins have trouble with it when fully covered. Thanks
Yes let us know what you think of it once you get it. I have one on my iPhone and I'm considering it for my Prime but I have the same concerns you do regarding look and feel. I'm also curious about the fit at the back. Does it stretch over the raised ASUS lettering or is it cut out?

where did you find one for the prime I have only seen it for og transformer?
My Zagg arrived today. It works great. Just make sure the bottom of the screen is securely on if you have the dock. It is a tight fit, but it certainly works wells.
I have it for just the screen btw....

Getting my Prime covered with GhostArmor tomorrow. They have kiosks at nearly every mall. If they do a bad job then you can request a refund. Costs 35 for full shield, and only 10 for following visits to entirely replace the skin.
I don't trust myself with clear shields.
i use the ZAGG TF101 only cause its cheaper...$14.99 and its only a bit smaller then the TFP201,with the case on, the screen is completely protected anyway so the TF101 ZAGG is probably the way to go!!! I love ZAGG products

Have you noticed any line forming on the screen protector where it touches the dock? Someone was saying that happened with the full body skinomi protector in another thread.

Have u gotten the protector yet? I was thinking about doing this too. Is it too thick to fit in the dock?
I updated the original post with a coupon code(fbfans25) I found for 25% off. Hopefully when both the protector and the tablet come in I can post a short review.
i hate zaggs because they tend to stick to my fingers, i prefer bodyguardz. i get better grip with the zagg, but when playing games like fruit ninja, it gets really hard when my fingers are sticking the the protector. i have had about 4 zaggs, and 2 bodyguards. bodygurads are still my favorite
It didn't fit the screen correctly due to size differential? I'm considering getting the extreme guard caz of its price - do you know if it works with the dock?

Ghost Armor just applied
I just put GA on my prime tonight so its still drying, etc.
Initial thoughts;
Unlike Zagg, there is less of the "orange Peel" effect, I didn't mind that in fact i have Zagg on all my phones and like the grippiness. The GA has a very slight orange peel but i think that is just the nature of a vinyl or poly protector.
It's very shiny, make the back look like it was shellacked, again not bad but the texture on Aluminum is lost.
I will say i was a disappointed with the cut of the front and back pieces, I don't know if the material shrinks after cutting but the front piece is a good 1/8 to short on one side. The back is about 1/16 all around. It doesn't look bad but i know its there.
There are cutouts for everything, the speaker, headphone jack, light sensors and cameras. the kit did come with thin pieces for the beveled edge. that was nice, those pieces are sized almost perfectly.
Question
For those you got the Zagg full body kit, how does it fit with the dock?
well i have them installed right now and they are leaving marks on the screens where the dock connects. not really impressed. i will probably remove the shields.

That sucks! I have my full body shield waiting for the prime, which comes on Monday. Hopefully I can figure out some way to use it, even if it's the screen part only. I'd hate to have to send it back. Of course this all depends on whether or not I need to send the actual prime back due to dead pixels or some other issue.
Well i took the the screen one off but left the back on. You could cut the protector or notch out where the dock touches the screen.

Skinimi Techskin or Dryskin?

I want to get a protector for my Prime, any input on which methods is better, ie. lasts longer and better protection?
And by Skinimi I mean Skinomi..
My last Skinomi on my phone ended up peeling off, but fwiw the skin seemed very durable and strong. Almost like a thin plastic cover. I could still dock my phone with the skin on.
I like the metal finish, so no skinomi for me this round.
I've used several skins (zagg, skintech, skinomi). I like the skinomis better than the others. Just get the screen cover, not the full jacket. Installing has always been easy and I've only experience problems when dust gets under the corners, like on my epic 4g after I've taken it in and out of my pocket a million times. I can't imagine with the prime it's going to get much dust under the corners. I think it makes the screen touch feel better as well, and then you never have to worry what you wipe the screen with. The dry covers to me, add a strange thickness and change the optics of viewing the screen... Just my 10 cents!
Thanks for the info guys!! Really I am will to take anything at the moment because there is nothing in Canada yet!!!

I really like my skinomi screen protector. Pretty nice feel, not too much of a difference if any in sensitivity. Its as close to invisible as I figure it will get. The bubbles were also impressive, because they sort of "breathed" out of the skin. It was odd to see considerable bubbles disappear in hours.
I was gonna put my skinomi protector on but I stuck with just the skin because my prime is usually in the dock so the chances of scratching in the dock are very unlikely

I have both the skinomi carbon fiber skin and the wet-application screen protector on mine, both are fantastic.
Putting the vinyl back and tiny pieces on is soooo much easier with a heat gun! A really hot hair dryer would probably suffice, but you will need one or the other.

I want a clear screen protector too and I wouldn't mind having something clear for the back but I don't want it messing up if I eventually get the dock. So the Skinomi is one of the best. I found cheaper ones on Amazon like 3 for 8.99 and I found this one 2-Pack Stealth Shieldz© ASUS eee Pad TRANSFORMER PRIME TF201 Screen Protector LIFETIME WARRANTY (Ultra CLEAR) for 14.99 and you get two. I want whatever will be easy for him to put on and what will look the most invisible and still be able to have good touch sensitivity. Should I put a clear skin on the back too? Does Skinomi sell a combo pack with both in it? Thanks!
Has anyone had any experience with the Skinomi full-body protector and the TF Prime keyboard dock?
I want to get a skin for the back of the tablet mainly to prevent fingerprints (this thing is a fingerprint factory) but I also have the keyboard dock and I don't want to shell out for a skin if the dock is just gonna scrape it off.
Is there any further word on the updated full body skins from Skinomi? If I recall correctly someone posted that Skinomi is going to come out with a version that has a cutout at the bottom so it doesn't interfere with docking.

I have applied the Skinomi carbon fiber Design Skin on the back of the Prime (did not install the TechSkin screen protector), and so far have not noticed any problems with the skin being scraped or loosened by inserting the Prime in the keyboard dock. I like the texture and additional grip that the carbon fiber skin provides, as well as reducing the "coldness" of the bare aluminum back.
Note: I've only had the Skinomi skin on for a few days, so will update this response if I notice any issues.
I just want a clear skin for the back and a protector for the front. Not sure what to order still. I may eventually get the dock too. But the back of mine is always cold.

We would like to apologize for any inconvenience. Our design team is in the midst of correcting this issue. The moment we have corrected this design we will be sending you a new revamped screen/skin protector. Does anyone have any experience with these skins?
How do they feel and how durable are they?
I like that the back is all one piece (unlike the Skinomi) and that it fully surrounds the speaker which seems like an area where my Skinomi will eventually peel up (sharp corners = no no) but I don't want a screen protector that I can detect. If their screen protectors are similar to the SGP Ultra Crystal series though I might be convinced to pick one up.
From past experience, I believe its an invisible shield kind of feel to their screen protector too.
Anyone have more recent experience please correct me if I am wrong
I would buy one to replace my skinomi in a heartbeat as I had a lot of troubles with skinomi's separate side/edge pieces. But alas, it does not have a cut out for the dock, and this is a necessity for me.
Were they to make one with a cutout though...

Do you really need a cutout for the Dock? I have a clear Skinomi skin on the back of my TF Prime and I use it with the keyboard dock all the time with no problems? The only slight issue is that the foam pad inside the dock leaves an imprint on the skin, however it fades a few minutes after taking the tablet out of the dock.
I would recommend Best Skins Ever also. I kept checking their site for Prime versions...but up until a few days ago, there was no application available.
Got the Xtreme skin protector from eBay which is not great. Once applied, the Xtreme version is somewhat sticky (even though I tried invisishield spray...might try some wax next...front screen protector has dark cuts from being squeegeed out from applying - ordered dry application screen protectors).
Would definitely go with Best Skins. No problems so far on my HTC Sensation (since 9/2011) and wifey's ipad 2 (back only since it came out last year).

Yes, because I use a matte screen protector on the front and it is distinguishably thicker than a regular, glossy screen protector. :-\ Otherwise it'd be no problem.

How hard is it to apply? I've driven myself crazy trying to apply some screen protectors. The main problem is soon as I get done clearing out all the dust/particles then seconds later more dust/particles plop right back on to the screen. I REFUSE to lay down the screen protector on any dust and I just can't find how to do this without ANY dust anywhere. It's just all over. Seems like I need operating room environment.

NP! good luck and post back with results!
Quick question, if I just get the "body skin", that means I'm getting the back protector right? I'm only interested in back protection, as I prefer the traditional stiff glossy protectors for my screens.
I already have the Xtreme protector, but it doesn't protect the back bezel, which is a no no for me.
Thanks in advance

yeah, the body skin is just the back of the tablet. but pay 2 bux more and u can get both ;p. also they have a 20% off now
Anyone try out the body skin with the keyboard dock yet? Already have some small scratches on the back of my tablet.
I'm running with a skinomi full skin until after I RMA. (no issues with the dock^)
I ordered the full body version from BSE though. I must say there are a few things I like better about the cutouts.
On the screen, the skinomi has a cutout for the camera, and the light sensor. The BSE only has a cutout for the camera. In my opinion this is better as the other one isnt necessary.
Also, instead of two holes for the camera and flash on the back its one figure 8 shaped hole.
The skinomi also has a cutout for the Asus logo. The BSE is one solid piece. No cutout for the logo.
And finally, the skinomi has little side pieces. The BSE the back and sides are all one piece. The back curls around to the sides.
Thats all I've got... I think this one is a better design over the zagg and skinomi skins.
UPDATE
Best skins ever just released dock compatible versions of everything and a total body skin which includes a skin for the dock. They have it on special since its just released.
Ordered the total body kit for $23.16 + shipping
Just bought the full skin for my Prime and Maxx.

Best screen protector?

Hi, this is my first post here.
Im looking to buy a screen protector to protect my screen
Im currently looking at these two:
a) ZAGG invisibleSHIELD - Asus EEE Transformer Prime - SCREEN Protector
b) 2Pack S-Shieldz Asus EEE Pad Transformer Prime TF201 LCD Screen Protector Shield
I use the dock a lot which means that it should not get ripped out by the dock.
What im looking for is solid protection from my scratches my nails inflict on the screen.
It should also be nice to touch, i prefer something over which my hand glides even if the whole screen is filled with sweat from my hands.
Also i would prefer something which is easy to apply. I did a shoddy job with the screen protector on my iPhone 4 and now its full with air bubbles.
And last but not the least, Image quality should not take a hit.
Thanks.
I would post a link but it turns out i cant do that unless i post 10 messages
I don't have experience with either of them on the Prime, but I do have a Zagg screen protector on my phone, and it does the job well enough, but there is a bit of orange peel texture that comes through in certain lights. It feels nice to the touch, also.
Personally, when I finally break down and get a screen protector, I'm probably going to go with Skinomi. I had one on my last tablet, and I liked it better than the Zagg.
I use BodyGuardz for my Phone and Tablet http://www.bodyguardz.com/
I bought this, Ultra-thin Transparency & Super Clear protection screen protector
Two options.
First is go cheap, get the clear hard plastic ones from ebay. should be maybe a couple dollars? Like the cheap phone ones, they put on easy, but scratch easy. throw the used one away and buy another one.
Second option, get a high quality "military grade" protector. They are all very similar, essentially thicker, more of a rubbery feel to them, last a lot longer.
If you go for option two know that most of the brands are selling the same material in different packaging. Some are thinner than others (zag is one of the thickest) and thin usually means less rubbery / less texture to annoy you. After years of using a Zagg on my phone it recently got too dirty to use and im back to the plastic protectors, damn i forgot how clear my screen used to be! Will likely not go back to zagg. Good product for protection, bad for clarity.
There are kiosks in the malls around there that will do a custom protector for your device for around $50, much thinner material than zagg or others, and roughly the same price for front and back protection, only problem is lifetime guarentee is useless if the kiosks dissapear.
When all else fails, check out what friends are using, if you like a protector on their device, go for it. Often the online less expensive options can be just as good as zagg with half the cost, zagg is a ripoff because of huge markups.
SKINOMI.COM FOR THE WORLD! By far best of the military grade options in my opinion, and the greatest customer service I've ever experienced for easy replacements.

I have an Xrtreme Guard on my Prime right now. Got it for less than $5 on the website. It's similar to an Invisible Shield or Ghost Armor but has less of an orange peel feel and look.

I love the Skinomi. It's cut perfectly for my dock and it's fairly smooth.
