[Q] help me!!! - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone help? I've got a Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and I'd like to watch t.v. shows on there. I have downloaded an app called crackle but there are only a couple of t.v. shows that I can choose from. My brother in law has an iPad and he just goes to iTunes, chooses what he wants to watch, buys it, downloads it then watches it.....simple!! Can't I just do that on the Samsung tab?? Not necessarily on iTunes or even an iTunes version but there doesn't seem to be any app or website where I can just go and get what I want, is this right or am I missing something? TIA!

Lots of options! Netlifx, Hulu are the obvious ones (some work might be required to set those up, not sure if Tab is officially supported since I'm in Canada), but if you have your own media, try Plex.

Netflix runs great on the SGT10.1 and is as easy as downloading it from the play store.
EDIT: didn't realize this thread was a month old.

U.S. users - has anyone gotten HBO GO to work?

So it's a really cool app that lets you stream all of HBO's series and movies if you have a cable TV package with HBO in it. It installs fine, I can set it up fine (a kludgy process), but when it plays I get sound and a giant pause button instead of video. Can anyone make it work?
Here's the link...

sorry to revive this old thread, but the latest update to HBO GO now works on the S2!
...kind of
I just downloaded and installed this app yesterday. When I try to watch something it says its an audio stream only and to connect to WiFi to stream video. Odd thing is I've tried on my home and work WiFi to no avail. I'm stock and rooted. not that big a deal. Have contacted the developer but haven't heard back yet.

it had been the same deal for me since this first came out and couldn't get it to work on my unbranded phone running on AT&T. then the latest version of hbo go for android phones says "now supports galaxy s2 epic touch" so i tried it today and it worked...for a while...after about 5 or 6 minutes of a show it blacked out and reverted to the same old "audio stream only"message. i am thinking it will get there eventually.
what i really want is for it to play on my brand spanking shiny new galaxy tab 10.1 but alas...no go on honeycomb

The TV.com site and app are owned by CBS. That app would let you watch the newest episode of some CBS, CW and Showtime shows. It also has episodes from older, "classic" TV shows. But the number of full episodes is pretty limited. It doesn't require Flash, so even someone with a crappy phone (like myself) can use it.
You can also watch a limited number of TV show episodes with the Crackle app (requires Flash).
ETA: Both of these apps are probably available only to people living in certain countries, like the U.S.

Do you have the market address for this app? I could not find it.

Crackle lets you watch TV and movies for free they have a pretty good selection. Not going to find recent shows but they have some good ones and a very nice selection of movies.

Stream movies from Phone to Samsung TV wireless? (How to)

Hi guys, just bought a Samsung smart TV and I wanted to know if and how could I stream movies from my phone to the TV Wireless.
I'm currently running Cm9. If there is an app required can someone upload it please.. thanks

You need all share to stream stuff on your smart tv. I don't know if all share works with CM9 though. All share is included in the stock Rom, so maybe if you ask somebody he/she will extract it for you do you can try it on CM9
it works on stock
Dont know about CM9, but with the stock rom, you just need to make sure your TV and Phone are connected to the same wifi and then you play your file on your phone. A symbol at the top of the stock player shows a 'choose your player' dialogues and then you choose your TV. Its starts playing either instantly or with a prompt on your tv, depending on your tv setup. I have mine set to auto accept. Works with photos and videos. I have tried with 1080p movies and it works without a problem.
Tv is LG LM670T. 3d smart. its gorgeous
I think most recently manufactured tv hs dlna.
Just search your tv model on Internet then you should be able to find out.
If so, then download bubbleupnp app from play store. You can either set up another server on your computer, which I do, using plex server, which you can download for free for your pc. Or you can use your phone as the server as well.
You can control all the streaming from your pc to your tv or phone to tv right from the bubbleupnp app. Very cool. If you install the extra bubbleupnp server on your computer, you can even stream remotely. Very easy to set up and very cool. Real cool.

If I understand well, you have two options: (1) stock Samsung rom and AllShare Cast (it needs Samsung framework, hence CM will not work) or (2) use DLNA (check if your TV supports it, but I guess so) and one of the apps mentioned above (which will also work in CM as it should support DLNA).

[Q] Just got my first Android device - and I am lost :(

Hi,
just got myself first, proper Android device.
My Lumia has been passed on to my spouse and I am trying to get familiar with the system and device.
As you can imagine, after using iPad and recently Lumia I do feel a bit lost and overwhelemd by the amount of options, menus and submenus
As right now I am trying to dig through tons of posts, pages here and on other sites. Not an easy task to get to the essential information.
Perhaps you can help me be hinting some shortcuts or giving straight through answers?
My S3 is not branded and unlocked but not rooted, runnind Android 4.1.1
1. How do I get Flash working in Chrome?
2. How do I get Market Enabler app on it?
All my tries and downloads has not been succesful so far

Also, on my iPad I was using an awesome video player - Buzz Player.
It plays mkv (iPad can't do it smootlhy but that is different story), divix, avi... anything really.
What is mor eimportnat it was able to stream those videos from my NAS drive - old WD My Book World via smb (samba).
I tried Buzz for Android but it is truly terrible . Nothing like app on iOS + very expensive to buy.
Would you have anyy suggestion - what I should try? (BTW: option for Windows Store - "try" before "buy" is really helpfull - would love to see it on Google Play!).
And what is the best (free) barcode scanner as there is no Bing in S3.. ?

As far as I'm aware chrome doesn't support flash anyway, try dolphin browser hd. Market enabler does require root access. As for the video player try MX Player from the play store it plays pretty much everything, possibly the best video player for android.
Hope I could help

Hy im a newby here and also in android, comming from iOs too....
my phone is rooted and i managed to install the so wanted flash player from Adobe v11(not sure the version, its been a long time)
it works great in my Galaxy S3 ... i open internet sites and videos using Opera (or Chrome which i like a lot but havent tested it yet)
look for your version of system/phone in Adobe site and you will find the right flash player, just download the file and follow the instrutcions on the site.

[Q] Control Google Play Music on my tab from my phone

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can offer any suggestions on this.
I have a Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) and a Galaxy S3
I play music with Google Play Music on my tab, and I want to be able to control it (change track, playlists, etc) from my phone.
Both Android, both Samsung, same application. Surely there must be something out there that can do this.
Essentially I want to use my phone as a remote control.
Ive looked, and I cant find anything, short of installing an ugly VNC connection on the tab.
If not, has anyone ever considered looking into it?
Thanks
Howie
I don't think Play Music supports remote device controlling yet, as far as I know. This would have to be built into the app in much the same way TV pairing is built into the Youtube app and not the device itself. Or so I think, but I could be wrong.

there is a great remote app for grooveshark that does this. I have not found anything for play music yet.
