Desktop dock with audio out and battery charger. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Found this in the N7000 thread.
Just half the price of original dock and has extra battery charger option. Ordered one. Will post more pics once i get it .
( Surprised that more people have not developed a desktop dock with audio out. )

Thinking about pulling the trigger on this.

Mine should be getting shipped very soon and as soon as I receive it I can let you know. I've got a plethora of cases to try it out on. However judging from the pictures, I'd say it is a no go.

its too bad that all the Note docks are portrait.
On my Atrix, i loved the fact that HDMI out and USB out were on the side, so it can dock perfectly in landscape mode.

I know it does not show a picture but it looks like this would work in portrait. The back of the stand has a pyramid for and tilts the phone back at any angle. The dock also exceeds the mid point up the sides. It should stay balanced if put on either side. Looks like a nice option.

This is correct. This stand will work in portrait.

Yes this stand works just great in landscape as well as portrait. It also works for data transfer between your phone and pc. I got a few rubber bumpers to stick on for landscape mode to keep it from moving around. Works great!
NOTE- Your phone will not fit with a case on.

[Q] replacing Thunderbolt stand

i was wondering if they actually sell a replacement stand for the Thunderbolt anywhere? i know how to take the thing apart just the stand is a bit 'jacked up' i guess you could say(peeling).
also, why the hell did they put the stand on the way they did? you can't charge it and have the stand open at the same time.

It's built into and sold with part of the housing.
http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-thunderbolt-front-housing-replacement.html
Buy from there or search for the same part elsewhere.
The peeling is pretty common after owning for a while and has been complained about by many users.
I peeled the rest of the filmy stuff off of mine and polished it. It looks better IMO

I peeled mine off. Use a plastic pen cap. Go with the grain then after you clean it all. Go buy mothers polish or the blue magic polish. Just use a rag and polish it. Looks awesome Chrome look and it has the grain and with Google on it still. I like it better.

But my streaming "videos" only play in landscape :/
While it's true they probably did this to sell docks, it might also have been simply due to internal design of the hardware. Remember they try to pack as much silicon into these things as possible, and due to location of processors, memory, gpu, capacitors, backlights, and all the circuitry required to connect them all, they may have simply had no room to squeeze the hinge+usb port on the same side together, whereas theres some dead space on the other end so they just went with that. Maybe they dont want people charging on the kickstand because the backlight would burn out more quickly if you just left it on every night as a bedtime clock. Maybe verizon freaked out and thought we'd all just stream ESPN all day long if we could keep it charged like that and wreck the network.
No, they did it because it's the correct design.
When used in a (car/home/media) dock, the charging port needs to be on the "bottom" (the standard for Android docking is landscape orientation), so it connects when you dock it. You also need the volume rocker on the top, so you can control volume. The bottom in landscape mode is the left side when held in portrait mode - neither the standard video player nor Netflix will play in any other orientation.
Move the USB port to the other side or top/bottom, and then you can't have a (reasonable) docking solution . Changing the kickstand so it opens from the other side, and the volume rocker is now inaccessible on the bottom, and your videos will be upside down (yes, I know Youtube will adapt, but it's the exception).
The kickstand is intended to be used for video when running under battery power. If you want to charge at the same time, get a dock. Given that it's a $600 phone, a $20 dock isn't anything to complain about.
lol mike is absolutely right

desk stand

Hey all, I bought this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/400216689784?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
It's a small, collapsing smartphone stand that works well with our rezound.
In verticle and horizontal mode it works great with the standard battery.
with the extended battery it really only works great in horizontal mode, I found the verticle to be a little unstable.
Regardless, I bought it to use it in horizontal mode on my desk and on airplanes when watching movies.
Cheap, nice, collapsable.
4.5 stars.
thanks.
Maybe even better....
This is my "stand". Collapses to FLAT and fits in my pocket or briefcase.

Just ordered me two of these. I miss the TBolt kick stand more than I thought I would.
KORM via the beast known as the Rezound.
That looks alot like my new windshield car mount, but mine won't break down for transportation. I leave it mounted 24/7 anyway. Thanks.
Now do these stands hold up when you are using the phone, or are they only good for viewing the phone and such. I am big on selecting things or just tapping on the phone when it is on my desk. I upgraded from an EVO to the Rezound, and I def miss the stand

There is some slipping when hitting the power button mostly but pretty stable for light screen touching. The fold up storage factor is key for me. Functional and definitely not cumbersome.

Thanks, I've had some bad luck in the past but I might get this, usually I am only doing light touches because I am at a desk.
Yet another option
I've been trying to decide between that and the "Breffo Spiderpodium Stand" that I found on amazon (amazon.com/Breffo-Spiderpodium-Stand-iPhone-Cellphone/dp/B003Y419K4/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top). It looks much more versatile but might be annoying to bend to the proper shape I need. I think I'll try it out, though, and see what I think.
It's been a while since I first purchased mine and I still love them. I say them because I got double pack. One for the office and one for my night stand. I use my office one the most. It takes up no room in my bag, takes two seconds to put on the phone and its pretty stable. I'll post pictures soon.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom Car Mount & Running Arm Band

Been searching around for a while now but am unable to find a S4 zoom car windscreen mount or a running arm band (don't know what the real name of this is?)... Can one of you experts lend a hand in where I might obtain one as the only ones i can find are 'universal' ones and i really don't think this fat bugger of a 'phone' will fit into one of these as i believe them to be basing this on the 15.4mm thickness dimensions (as i did when i bought the phone), when in actual fact the fattest section is closer to 33mm (might be more), lol.
I am also quite keen on riding and running so need an arm band that this phone would actually fit in which again i am having the same problems as the prior.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Closest car mount/holder i have found that might hold this is as below;

Good find. Definitely looks like it'll hold in that one. I took the plunge with an uber cheap one while still looking so if the below one does not work I will venture to the one you recommended;
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111124754584?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
My reason for this one is i used to use autoguard (not really sure why), and if i go back to it i need the lens free for recording. Still shall report if it A fits and B holds securely.
Hunt for the armband is still on sadly...
it holds perfect, i also cut off the half circle top plastic to ensure
if the optical lens will pop out by mistake it will go all the way out as normal.
Probably not suitable for you but I bought this one for my previous phone (Xperia Z).
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/stick-um-universal-in-car-holder-p26795.htm
Works pretty well with my Samsung Zoom, sitting upright (portrait) the lens 'hangs' over the top and the stickyness holds the bottom.
It will obviously be more difficult sitting in landscape position but would provide access to the charging point.

I've always been tempted to try one of these but I am paranoid as f**k that the phone will fall off whilst driving. I have searched many videos and posts that all show this is not the case but still can't find the guts to try one out lol.

Plinth tablet stand

http://myplinth.co.uk/
Anyone use one of these for the note 12.2?
All positive reviews on amazon. I'm interested to see if it's stable with the tablet in portrait mode. I'm not sure if the extra length/height of the Note 12.2 would cause it to topple.
From the looks of that stand, I would say that as soon as you put your finger on your tablet it will fall over. I say that because on my tablet you have to touch pretty hard to turn off the tablet. First a push on the start button on top (which would be on the side for portrait mode) that would push the tablet off the stand. If that didn't do it then you have two more hard touches on the screen to actually turn off the tablet. Have any of those reviews been from a owner of this tablet?

I took a chance on this and it's great little stand. I don't think anything beats it for portability.
I used it all day today as a second screen with no issues. In the top angle (I guess 85 degrees) I can flick through the menus and put the tablet into usb tethering mode with no issue at all. In general I am using my laptop's keyboard but it's fine for flicking through pages in moonreader. It does wobble slightly when you press the screen but no chance of falling. With regard to turning the screen on and off I hold the other side when I press the button .

Looks like it must be . In the screenshot that looks to be the 3rd angle. I just tried it and while it does hold at this angle its not perfectly stable. If you press the top of the tablet hard it would topple. Above this it is fine. Any angle lower than this and it just topples backwards!
Now I need to find a lighter case or cover as I just need to protect the screen. Is there anything like the official apple smart cover for the note 12.2. i.e no back just a cover for the front?

The best stand I found were these wire stands, super inexpensive and you get two for $6 and free shipping:
http://www.amazon.com/Gibson-Holder...ytECoiL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR107,160_
I like the three wire for the note pro since it helps better support it in portrait mode, they're super stiff and somewhat annoying to adjust, because of that they more than hold up to you writing on them and they fold up rather flat too.
A close second, though only really good for viewing and nothing else (like for watching movies or using it with a keyboard and mouse):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...2OM3ZNBISH60M&psc=1&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl
I got one of those with my Jelly Comb light up keyboard (amazing keyboard for great price), and was amazed by it, folds extremely flat, great size and enough positions to satisfy my needs. It's more expensive and you only get one, but you do have a few color options for $8 and prime eligible.
I use this one, http://a.co/cBoBUZ3 , TechMatte Multi-Angle Aluminum Holder, and it works great in both portrait and landscape mode - stable in portrait mode. I like it because you can fix the angle in 15 degree increments, and once locked it stays in that position.

Samsung notes lack in handwriting recognition

I did test the s6 at a retailer and I noticed that the Samsung Notes App did not recognize my handwriting in landscape mode at a specific place. It was when I did get closer with my palm to the edge (with power and volume button on the upper side).
At the middle kind of a little bit to the right there seems to be a blind spot where writing/drawing is not recognized in first place. Only after second or third attempt and then it seems like the recognition of the pressure is half off.
Don't know if the bright light from above or a already often used spen causes this.
Can any owner confirm?
Picture is attached (left space is empty because I did not encounter issues there)

HAH.
Yes indeed it was on a stand with a magnet on top to hold the device. And that field where i could not draw would fit the size of that magnet..
Unbelivable that you have to keep such things in mind when you want to you a tablet with that price...
Does Apple have such problems with their ipad series? Im so much struggling in the decision if apple or samsung. Im a Android guy and would like to keep my Android world but i want a performant device which does not have childhood injuries like that....

It isn't the tablet, but the case/holder.
I have two cases. One which the tab slips in to a holder—no probs there.
My other case holds the tab (very securely) with a magnet—therefore the dead spot. Love this case, except for the dead spot ceated by the stting magnet. This an awesome case in every other way, especially because there is nothing blocking the sides of the tablet, no edge swipe issues, et al.
So, I've just accepted that if I want to do any serious S-pen writing or drawing I have to either go case-less, or switch to the other one.
