Chrome graphics issues. Anyone else? - HTC EVO 3D

I have been having some really funky issues with the graphics when in chrome. The issues seem to appear mostly when the keyboard is open, though I believe I've seen it at other times as well. Here is some examples. There are some other cases of where it shows like a scrambled up version of the page but i couldn't capture it. Any suggestions on a fix? Could it be from my 3rd party keyboard?
btw, this is the ics leak that i am using.

Swyped from mah 3vo!

i have problems with chrome but not like yours i get glitches.

what kind of keyboard are you using?

That is keyboard problem, not problem with Chrome.

Your swiftkey theme is ugly.
Also try using default keyboard as this seems to be swiftkey/chrome not playing together.

haha, i was trying to best match ICS. Hopefully swiftkey will release their new keyboard. I saw it had new themes.
i guess ill wait for an update to either chrome or the keyboard. stock browser works fine.

I too have these issues with chrome, no matter what keyboard I use.
It also acts up when I open links in new tab sometimes.
I m using the leaked ics but without firmware.

I think that's why its called
"chrome beta"
Same issues, stock, you are not alone.

Download the swiftkey 3 beta. It has a nice cobalt skin and a holo skin.
Look up swiftkey 3 beta, sign up for the forums, and download. You dont need to buy it agian.

I was having the same issues. Downloaded the SwiftKey 3 beta and it seems to have fixed the issue.
Also you can now ajust the haptic feedback. I turned it so I can barely feel it. Feels like I'm typing on something furry and I love it lolz

I can confirm these issues too. I don't know if it so much the fact that the app is beta because I've been googling to no end and I can't find anyone else with this issue. Could it be something specific to our phones?
Here's the ones I usually get:

Try ICS Browser +. Better than stock, no bugs that I've seen

The thing is chrome has awesome features integrated with your desktop version of Chrome. I use the main browser for flash since chrome doesn't support it, but it would be nice if we found a way to get rid of the graphical bugs.
Sent from my Evo3D Shooter.

I can confirm that I am having this problem as well.
I have used ViperROM ICS and MeanROM ICS; both do the same thing in Chrome. I have tried the Adreno 220 update and it seems to slightly help, but the problem is still there.
It seems that Chrome pulls some of it's settings from the stock browser, because playing with the debug settings in the stock browser seems to slightly improve the issue (I don't think it's my imagination). I have found that I get best results by forcing 2D hw acceleration in the main system dev options, then in the stock browser settings under "Debug" I turn off 'Enable CPU Upload Path' and turn on OpenGL (at the top).
The tearing and flickering still occurs, but it's slightly better. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a hardware problem? My theory is that it is freaking out trying to composite the transparent gradient above the keyboard (the part that darkens the webpage while you type).
I have tried many different keyboards; it's slightly better with some but the problem is there with them all.
Anybody have any ideas?

In several occasions I couldnt write login info because it wouldn't show me the keyboard

Anyone else tried the SwiftKey tablet beta yet?

SwiftKey has a beta for tablets now, and it has a special landscape mode for thumb typing where the letters are on the right sides of the screen and the numbers in the middle.
It's in beta test right now, and if you join on their forum you can get access to it. It is beta so it has some quirks (like when you've just rotated it, the suggestions show too low like in my screenshot below), and I am not sure I like the default theme yet (it doesn't show secondary keys!) but it's worth a try. http://swiftkey.net/vip is where you can join to try it.
Here's what it looks like:

Install the APK as normal (uninstall the beta for Smartphone if you're already using it) and then follow the "from market" part of this guide to copy the APK into /system/app. Reboot, and it should show up in NookColor Tools, same procedure as any keyboard on the Nook Color using the B&N Rom. Any other ROM it should just work.
http://nookdevs.com/NookColor_Replace_the_Default_Keyboard
BTW just wanted to let people know and help the SwiftKey folks get more feedback, I get nothing from this.
will try when back at home!!
I've tried it and have found the keys to be too small for a 7" screen. I've really enjoyed using ThumbKeyboard and hope the SwiftKey keyboard improves to that level of usability as I love SK's prediction engine.
I'm running the stock 1.1 ROM, rooted, and am trying to get the Beta installed right now. I have the original running fine, but prefer the thumb-keyboard split layout.
I installed the Beta, but can't get it to show up in my Keyboard selection. Not sure it's going to run on Eclair.

It does work on Eclair. You moved the .apk from /data/apps to /system/apps? And set the permissions to match others there? And rebooted? Try those if you have not and check again.

They SEEM to be, but bang out a sentence and see what happens. It's damn good at deciphering nonsense. Same as the Smartphone version, I type like ass on the screen yet most often it figures out the right words.

I installed from /system/app and rebooted, but haven't changed the permissions.
I've been using SuperManager, which doesn't appear to let me edit permissions. I'll have to grab a different app later and try it, as they don't appear to match.
Thanks.
SwiftKey Tab beta seems cool
I've used it to send emails. Nothing special about it that I've seen so far. But it is nice to see a "tablet" getting some love.
edit: I've been using it since Monday. I don't like the interface ('neon') but the split (similar to Thumb Keyboard) is very nice. the keys are smallis buy not unusable. Overall, I like it and recommend giving it a try. Once new skins are made it'll be great.
Got IT
Installed this morning. Not too bad. Keys are too small. Don't think its going to replace my swype. I do love their predictive typing but not enought to stop me swyping.

Odd, did you change the prediction settings? I type terribly without correction, but it does a really good job fixing it for me. You might try some of the other options, there's "rapidfire typing" which is useful for some folks.
Give it a try. But really miss an azerty layout for me..
waiting, but thumb keyboard is growing in my heart.. the only cons about thumb kb is the lack of multi language prediction, i have to disable it..

There are multiple layouts in Swiftkey, just the list is impossible to see on the Nook Color with the white-on-white problem. Apps expect some dialogs to be dark, where on the B&N ROM they're white.
Yep, there's AZERTY there. The problem is picking it I think. In Settings->Layout, try picking the 5th option... QWERTY is first, AZERTY is 5th in the list on my phone. Hopefully the tablet beta is the same. Otherwise, you could experiment I guess.
That's right for swiftkey beta for Phone, the swiftkey beta for tablet only have one option.
I'm running nookie froyo, no white-on-white problem here :/

1+ on that, since I have big hands. The stock keyboard with CM7 or the standard SwiftKey keyboard both beat the heck out of this "tablet" keyboard implementation. And I guess some find neon cool, but its hard on my eyes. Yes, I'm glad SwiftKey is trying, but .... I'll wait until functional wins out over 'Look at this cool keyboard, dude!" approach.

Think samvillian was being sarcastic. Dolphin browser HD has been out for a while and pretty sure almost everybody knows about it. I was using it on my captivate long time ago. Probably why this thread isn't full of "oh this is cool" or "this is an awesome browser" replies from people. There are multiple browsers for android devices in the market. Firefox, opera, opera mini, just to name a few. Just depends on your preference.

Dolphin Browser is the best and most complete mobile web browser I've ever used on a mobile device. Thanks for spreading the word of this great little app.
i noticed that on my s2 before and even after rooting (unnamed) that dolphin HD runs slow.. its noticeable when i scroll up and down on pages and just seems overall sluggish compared to the stock browser... i love the stock browser because its so smooth just wish it had tabs - anyone know a fix or reason why it might run slow on my phone? I tried clearing rams, made sure no others apps were running, and even tried rebooting the phone and messing with the dolphin settings to bare minimum

It runs like silk on mine. Even with pages that are full of graphics and flash. One thing I would try is go a day or trip without killing anything in ram - don't use any task killers or managers including the one that comes installed, just let the kernel handle memory itself and run dolphin all that day, don't even look at the ram usage and see if after a day of that if it is running any better.

I like Dolphin HD, but on my GS2, it held a wakelock (I don't know if it was going to be consistent behavior, but one time is enough for me to uninstall - if it happened once, it'll happen again). Not only that, it was ramping up the CPU and drained my battery significantly within a few minutes. I ended up uninstalling. I'm currently using Miren (and Opera).

Their official reply is that the URL transmission was to check to see if a webzine version of that page existed on their servers, in which case, it would give you the option of viewing the webzine. This does correspond with how the webzine actually works, so i'm inclined to believe them. They have temporarily removed the functionality so they can add an opt in to make the program's operation clearer to the user.

First, you need to put the APK on your SDcard:
Download link: here
Next you need to push to your SDcard either through adb or just using USB mass storage.
Afterwards copy to system/app/ using a file manager *ES file manager or Root explorer is recommended. Root Explorer for those of you who use paid apps or ES for those of you who want a free alternative. I used Root explorer.
Here is the VERY important part, mod the permissions to the following:
Code:
Read, Write
Read
Read
Finally, just reboot and you will have it.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Code:
You can redownload the stock APK from [URL="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15069134/LatinIMEbackup.apk"]here[/URL]
and follow the rest of the guide starting after you download. It's the same universally. Also note that not all keyboard apps work well in system which is why I did it with the stock gingerbread app. Ice cream sandwich keyboards aren't too /system friendly.

how many of you are running this? if you are running it do you have cards working?
i've had it and like it (the search part works, i can't add cards)... although it appears a bunch of functions don't work. it appears the easiest solution is for us to wait for JB to come out?
Google now with cards is working nicely on the cm10 preview in the development section. It wasn't working the same way when I was on viper with this version
Sent from my Incredible 4G LTE using Tapatalk 2
Use the app for a while. I felt like I didn't have any cards pop up for a while. Give it a chance to collect data and you'll notice a difference. I've been using it for several months now and it gives me traffic to work smh home, recent places I've shown interest in, train arrival times for the subway and railroad stations I'm near, weather conditions as well as heads up notifications letting me know when I need to leave my current location to make a calendar appointment on time. It really is awesome, but you'll have to give it a bit of time.
This version also has a lot of glitches, like you can't hit "back" out of the app or it will freeze until you do a refresh.
The developers only went so far as to develop for ICS, and then stopped so not everything functions correctly. Just install Cyanogen now that we have it, it works great!
just today it popped up a card for driving directions home and traffic! kinda cool... had the locations wrong so i corrected them. i'll see how it starts behaving - nice to see it's starting to figure some stuff out. it does give me cards for calendar events...
i keep watching the cyanogen thread... i've never run that rom before. i may try it for fun some time although i'm really happy with the viper rom.
I love the cm10 rom. Been running it since the day it was previewed. Google now works great on it. After it learns your behaviors the cards come up all the time for me. It even gives me driving eta to home and work in the notification bar when I start my trips without even opening the search app.

[Q] Most recent JB software update killed keyboard

Hooray! my personalized ringtones work! but now my color scheme is different, and my keyboard doesnt work... is this right? I tried restarting it etc, this is what it looks like when I pull up the keyboard to text, type in a search etc;
I also noticed they took away 'all pictures' in my photo album, so Im having a hard time finding new screenshots.
Is it just me, or does every update seem to hide or take away useful functions; its almost as if these updates are released without any testing...

I also noticed they took away 'all pictures' in my photo album, so Im having a hard time finding new screenshots.
Is it just me, or does every update seem to hide or take away useful functions; its almost as if these updates are released without any testing...
any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm rooted on vipers stock jb ROM and same thing happened to me. Not a big deal though cause I use the jb keyboard from the market anyway.

So 'recent update' meaning non-rooted. Try to give a bit more information so other can help if possible. Try rebooting, try another keyboard, i personally love the jelly bean kb on play. If still screwed up, take back to sprint or best buy etc because its obviously not normal. Good luck

yes, not rooted, keyboard is scrambled in landscape and portrait, this happened as soon as they update was finished; the keyboard was fine for about 2 uses and then it scrambled. I tried power cycling it, and so far, the only keyboard that i can see is the typical phone keyboard.
ill try just downloading a new KB and hope that works....
and it does! awesome, this will do for now... and this keyboard sounds like a typewriter lol
thanks guys (and girls)
My keyboard is all kinda screwed up also. I am now stock not rooted. It was acting fine until I turned on the keyboard arrows. The more I type it starts twitching and changing as you can see in the pics. Its hard to type like this haha

I had the same keyboard glitch the same day I installed the Jelly Bean update. I did do the calibrate option before the glitch occurred. I restarted the phone and the keyboard has been fine ever since, but I just can't find a hide button on this new keyboard!

Same thing here. I was bored and used the calibrate tool while waiting for CM10 to download. Immediately after I opened the keyboard in another application and it looked just like the OPs screenshot. Rotating device to landscape and back fixed it. Didn't go much further because after a few minutes I went back to CM10.
