There's no efs folder on Ace, so you cannot make a backup of it.
Tapatalk 2 @Samsung Galaxy Ace

efs = partition
partition =/=folder
And there is enough material written in ace forum itself about it so searching would definitely do job rather than inventing wheel right now

Of course I searched for it but I couldn't find anything... They are just saying efs folder very impt your imei and everything depends on it
They are apps also but only for higher end phones

In SGS you can find a folder, named efs, and you should make a backup of it, before you flash a new rom.
That's why I wrote, what I wrote.

"they" are not using sga..
Which developer in sga told you to do that??
Every phone is designed differently

No developer has told me anything. I have read many threads saying to backup efs folder without fail you can lose your imei and I don't want to lose mine . I couldn't figure out how to do it in sga
It'd be great if you could help me out rather than do this
@kmarci : if there isn't one then where is all the imei information stored? How do we backup it?

if anyone finds a safer way to do this then please let me know too...because i did ****ed up my efs files and lost my IMEI no.......... Samsung centers were not ready to fix it so i had to get local repairmen to fix it. costed me 10$

Hey guys... Great news an app called nitrality backup the efs folder
Try it out
It's just posted in the general section of sga 'how to recover imei.. ' thread
It gave a notification of efs backed up but in the nitrality/backup/efs folder its empty
See if it works for you all
(so close )
GUYS WE CANT BACKUP EFS FOLDER... IMPOSSIBLE IN ACE

If you're smart enough to mount /efs to backup and unmount /efs the manual way , you would have a backup , but unfortunately you will need to know how to create a new partition if you lose your efs
This was sent from a Galaxy Ace. Problem?

[Help] I just installed ROM Manager...

Hey guys, I just installed ROM Manager on my Samsung Galaxy Ace and went to backup my current ROM. After I entered a name for my backup and pressed the Backup button my phone has become a brick? I cannot turn it on no matter what I do. Can anyone please help me because if I do not get this working, I will be screwed, I'm on a 2 year contract with T-Mobile.
It's bricked. You should read the first topic on this forum.
You can try uploading firmware with odin, not sure if it'll help.
Volume down + Home +Power what happens? If you see "download" you should be able to use Odin!

Thank you both, I am trying them now.
Looks like Odin is doing it's job:
... Can't post outside link see attached.
That looks correct, right?

Yes, Odin found your Phone, all good but you only have the cooper file... you need the other files, too !
1. Disconnect your phone !
then read this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
just without the root stuff if you dont need it !

Yeah I stopped it after it was taking too long, I also tried the one package (the one in the picture)/full package installation (the one you're pointing out), none worked and my phone doesn't boot into download mode, I have noticed a lot of people have had this problem. I am going to have to take it to the samsung repair center near me.
This was all caused by a recovery tool... how frigging ironic.

Sorry but I think you´r the one to blame, don´t use stuff you´r not supposed to do...
U DO HAVE TO START TO READ BEFORE YOU TOUCH things, sorry, wasn´t meant to be annoying CAPS but it´s very important...
There is one more (maybe) solution to try...
Q8: Oh no! My phone is bricked! I accidentally flashed the wrong device in ROM Manager!
A8: Oh no . You might wanna try either:
Method 1:
-Remove the SIM card , SD card and battery from the phone
-Hold Volume Down + Home + Power
-(Optional) Bring it near a heat source .
-While still holding those buttons , place the battery into the phone
-It should go into Download Mode .
-Try to flash a full package file via ODIN and your phone should come back to life .
If that doesn't work , try Method 2:
-Bring the phone to a nearby service center for repair .

Sorry, Unlike the people who you are trying to catagorize me as, I do read stuff before I do it. I used the ROM Manager which was supposed to support the S5830.
And I have tried all these.

I was not attacking or categorizing you, I tried to help! But you just did not read. That's why you tried to flash with the .ops file only. I'm no expert but I guess that ruined the very important Bootloader part of the phone.
Good luck with the Samsung Service, as I read here you're chances are good to get help!

No I didn't, I had selected to install the whole package file that I got from samsungmobile or w/e it is, not the seperate ones.
Look at your Screenshot, it proofs what I said...there is no phone, modem, csc and pda file.
Once again, it wasn´t meant to attack you or your fault(s), I´m not an expert, far away from it and I bet many here have done stupid things with their phones ;-)
Just read and learn and if a Dev says "Do not this or do not that"... DON´T DO IT !
Greetings
You are wasting your time in doing these things
Because if phone not start in downloading mod you cant use odin
Go to service centre

Serious ? I have no experience with this onepackage install but why did it fail ? He got his phone into dl mode, so if he had all the correct files, what was the problem ? I don´t get it.

Have a look on the market for an EFS backup app.
Many custom roms offer the option to backup EFS during install .

You can install a custom kernel and use setcpu. Make a profile of screen off and set the freqs to minimum. You can also switch to another rom. I recommend Smplicity by abhi922. You can also install Adernalin Engine. Regards.

thanks to both of you for replying. I've tried the stock ROM and it's basically the same with the battery life.
you mention above about installing a kernel, I'm really new to android and the whole OS and stuff so I have no idea what a kernel is or what it does. could you explain?
how would I install that ROM you're on about mate?

no,
just one thing should be taken care is that the voltage rating must be same as the original battery..
we are not increasing current..
we are just increasing the capacity of battery..
which will take more charging time and
