[Help] Bricked Xperia X10 I mean Really Bricked - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys i've a problem with my x10
So one night i was playing with it than the other day the phone would start
so i thought yeah right might be the battery or something. i took it to my friends x10 it was with 87% charged so i exclude this
Than i tried to flash with flashtool a new kernel and i get stuck at 9% or 15% depending on the kernel i use.
With SEUS it starts to repair but it says. No new updates avaiable after a few moments.
Some information regarding my phone
Unlocked Bootloader
FXP KERNEL
MM TEAM MIUI V4
The phone vibrate but doesn't start or load the kernel.
What do i do?!
Srry for my bad english
Thx in advance

Usrle flashtool to reflash kernel or firmware.

already did but i get stuck at 9% or 15% flashing the kernel
I'm downloading a full generic rom x10a

having similar problem
Hi, I had similar problem as well
X10i running FXP CM7 suddenly just wont boot n charge after I turn off the phone
it wont boot after flashing anything (firm or kernel) except the official firm
now that I end up with a cap R bootloader but flashtool claim that bootloader is rooted
do I still keep the bootloader unlock?

i guess you have a locked bootloader since the original firmware is loading just fine even tho rooting has nothing to do with the bootloader it self. i'm only guessing.
I'm stuck at. Flashing Loader

I bricked my phone last week and it got stuck in a boot loop.
I downloaded the x10a generic Stock ROM and flashed it via Flashtool and it worked like a charm.
Hope this helps.

But that way you weren't at a brick point.
You get brick when u get those 3 blink red LED and the phone doesn't do anything
By the fact that your phone were able to load the kernel. i guess

same problem repeat
Hi, just confirm that the bootloader remain unlock as long as the flashtool claim its ROOTED
had you try other than official 2.3.3 ftf?
because I just got the same unable to boot problem repeated again
this time cant get boot on even stock 2.3.3 firm
but I was able to boot up and charge on 2.1, then get root, recovery and kernel (w/o unlock bootloader again) and go straight to custom ROM with no problem

i'm using
X10a_2.1update1_r2.1.A.0.435_Generic.ftf
And it get stuck at Flashing loader
Idk but i can "read" the kernel when i dump the propriets but i can't "right" when i try to flash something

Anyone?

guys?

you said your phone is "bricked"
I'm not sure if you know what that means.
If you say you've bricked your phone then no one can help you.
A brick is a brick. It doesn't matter if it weighs a few kgs or a few hundred grams. A brick can't receive phone calls.
And your phone isn't even a normal brick... You wrote that it's "really bricked"
Are you building a house anytime soon?

The red led blinking rapidly three times means the battery is "out of juice".
I've said it earlier: Several X10 devices have reached an age, where battery failures are fairly common due to charge cycles and/or age. Specially if one got it just after the launch.
Anyhow, what you can do, is let the device charge "blindly" for a while, and a while I mean for half an hour to a few hours. Then it should, out of the blue, jump into "active" charging (With the battery screen showing offline charging)
If this doesn't happen you might have to charge the battery externally.
...or even replace the battery.
-"Why?", one might ask.
Reason is that the flash mode only works with a charged battery.
If it empty, it won't engage the flash mode at all. Stupid design, yes, but that is how it is.
Worst thing is, that the battery does deplete/discharge while in flashing mode. That is why it's so important it's fully charged and fully working, before one engages in flashing activities.
See this post for more information about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642154

Well, if the battery issue was fixed, and you're sure the battery is fully charged, then try this: (Quoting from my other post)
I've charged/replaced the battery, and are having trouble with starting up. Earlier flash failed. Now what?
Don't worry. It's pretty darn hard to truly brick this device. Even if the screen remains black, there's still hope.
Once that the battery issue has been dealt with, you can move on:
Download the latest Flashtool and the proper global firmware (FTF-file) for your device from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ight=flashtool
1: Extract/Install the Flashtool to a folder of your liking.
2: Copy the ftf-file to the "firmware" folder in the Flashtool folder you just created above.
3: Start Flashtool. Click the Bolt icon (flash). A Window appear. There, choose "flashmode". Cllick OK.
4: A new window appears. In the list on the left, choose the Generic firmware you downloaded and copied into the "firmware" folder. Should have a similar name as the file itself. (Or manually open the ftf-file from the "..." icon on the top right.)
5: Hit "OK. Follow the instructions you get on the screen:
1 - Unplug the device.
2 - Power off the device. (Unplug and replug the battery to be sure it really off, and not stuck in black screen)
3 - Press the "back" putton, and hold it down while performing the next task.
4 - Plug the device into the computers USB.

Click to collapse
Forced flashing should now start.

time to accept the fact that it is really brick
Hi @almomdegal,
if you try flash using another full charge batt n its not work, I think this forum is no longer works for u anymore.
I own a faulty X10 as well, random shut down (no warning at all) then wont boot n charge
reflash it, revive for few days and dead again, and reflash....
now it is really dead, no problem appears and it show flash successful and it just wont boot or charge but vibrate non stop
I just send the phone to service center and the board need to be replace
so its time to send to the real professional to solve it, coz this problem ain't software downloaded from internet can solve anymore

[Q] X10 mini pro still bricked even after sucessful SEUS or FlashTool patching

First, please, I tried tons of different things. I'm a linux kernel hacker too, although I never hacked android related stuff yet.
When I try to turn the phone on, it just quickly blinks the green line, vibrate and nothing else happens.
It was running firmware version 1.6 fine until I tried to upgrade the phone using a windows xp running in a vmware VM. I tried companion, SEUS and FlashTools. All left the phone running with the yellow exclamation mark after.
I continue trying to flash it until suddenly even the exclamation mark stopped showing up.
After that I moved to a native windows installation and SEUS went all the way through updating the phone, but the phone never turned on again. It just happened what I described above.
I already tried everything I came across with in the forums: flashing versions 2.1 and 1.6 from different places, with different versions of the FlashTool, and SEUS, and the companion .... it always goes all the way through, saying all ok, but when I turn on the phone: same-o. just quickly blinks, vibrate and dies.
Any idea? had I really hard broken my phone?
Please, any direction would do.
Interestingly - I have excatly the same situation with my partners phone. Attempted to downgrade to 1.6 using a couple of methods - editing build.prop and then SEUS and flashing this firmware.
Problem I have now is SEUS says I have the latest firmware and doesn't offer an update - I guess this is because the version of the software that is installed is higher than what is currently avaiable to the CDA I have put in the build.prop
Next I tried putting 2.1 back on from this thread.
The phone will not boot still it does excatly what you have said - blinks, vibrates and then turns off!
Thank you for the reply. It is good to know Im not alone
In my case SEUS always says there is a newer version and flashes the phone. It goes all the way to the end and says the upgrading was successful.
Would it be possible that although the phone "accepts" being flashed, it is not actually writting anything to a persistent state?
Is there a way to verify if what I flashed is really there? Otherwise SEUS should way nothing to upgrade, since it already did it all the way through successful.
easy question:
are you sure you have battery remaining to start it up and flash? if not, try to charge the battery on another phone.
I guess so.
I'm using a multimeter to measure the power of the battery, which varies from 3.6 to 4.1 volts, depending on how long I leave it on the charger.
So although the phone gives no indication of being charged, I guess that measure is enough to say it is being charged, right?
I've even just tried Omnius Server, which flashed perfectly fine, but still the phone won't boot Its completely dead now
Yep. I also tried that. Wasted money..
So far no change.. the thing is still a brick.
.. well, a brick is at least heavy enough to actually deal some damage when thrown..
Hah Just getting it exchanged now - tried everything - given up!
well, just in case you have it on warranty, go ahead
take it to the shop
repair
stop wasting time and money... go to a GSM SERVICE... you need service tool to revive your phone if it's deadboot...
i use setool to flash sony-ericsson phones and it's the best flash tool...
if it's bootfcked, then you need jtag's...
@sanyyous
setool will flash the phone just like SEUS or FlashTool will, right? or it will do some other kind of flashing witchery?
and jtag you mean hardware debug and service, right?
the issue is: I bought the phone in London and I'm in Brazil now. So either I fix or I see a trash bin in this little x10's fate.
setool flashes the same way than my tool, but it has more tricks afterwards for some other things.
For me it sounds like :
1.) False USB-Port or Cable
2.) False nand
Please try to following:
Go into your car with a laptop and flashtool on it -> Start the engine and pull down the AC to the coldest state it can do.
hold your phone DIRECTLY with the battery in Front of the cold airstream.
Flash it now
I have recovered a few dead phones so, the problem is that they get too hot and the nand shows errors while temporary placing the flashimages -> If so the loader rejects the image because of checksum fail.
-> Give it a try, if it don't work you have to send it to service.
Regards
Bin4ry
Man.. I will try as soon as I get home... and if it works.. expect a good donation.
Out of curiosity - did it work?
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
I still couldnt try.
In Italy now. I'm going back to Brazil only Feb 3rd.
Meanwhile I'm trying to convince my gf that she couldnt break the phone even further for trying. Hopefully I'll lure her into doing it until this weekend.
Firgers crossed.

If this works, it's a miracle.
Maybe trying the fridge would have the same result, but all that ice could damage the phone .
Good luck and I really want to know if it works.
Yeah, on the fridge the moisture would probably ruin the phone even further. .. if thats at all possible.
And believe me, no one would wanna see if it works more than me.
<girlfriend-apeal>
you see, everyone wants to know if that works. please, you wont ruin the phone further just by trying it )

My wife's x10 is OK, so it would just be out of curiosity for me .
Good luck.
I got my gf to try but it didnt work
I'll try it myself when I get home next week, but I dont think thats gonna work..
Anyway, I drop by next week to comment on the final status.
Thanks for the replies so far.

[Q] Freeze at start up

Hi,
I have an Xperia X10 with Cyagenmod 6 (gingerbread 2.3.3) but it's broken. It won't boot any more. Some days ago it just went out, and it won't start up again. The phone behaves as if it freezes the moment android should load. Like if your computer would freeze in bios, unable to load your operating system.
I'm also not able to repair it with SEUS because although it recognizes the phone, it can't reset because the phone freezes just before the stage in witch it can reset.
I am kind of a noob with these things and therefore hope one of you guys could help me out. I'm not really looking foreward te buying a new phone already
Thanks!

This is what happened to mine what country u in

it doesnt seem to be a connection-problem (no usb unplug sounds).
it seems that the phone is in a state, where bootup is not possible
But the phone is not required to boot during flashing. Did you try changing the USB slot on your PC? The one you're connecting your phone to? Try another slot. Sometimes that works too.

same result. can't flash
Me too. Can't flash with Flashtool (latest version), even without moving my phone. It starts flashing, but the progress bar shows of no progress. After a while it just says Error - Abort Flashing. I tried all of my USB port, but nothing changes.
after doing and trying my battery got completely drained (red led blinking) so i left it on the wallcharger for ~1day..
then at sometime it managed to boot up itself.. i left it for charging till 100%
after that i did a few "wipe battery stats" in xrecovery and now it seems to work stable again..
is it possible that messed up battery stats could cause the problem?
Wow, that would be nice.
A question! Was the little led on while charging? Because when I put my phone in the loader, it turns green (as if the battery is completely empty) and after a while it just goes off (when it would normally turn red). Do you have that to?
Putting my phone in the loader now, and waiting till tomorrow! Hope this helps!
yea, i've noticed this with my phone too..
strange led behavior..try to plug the charger first (green led turns on, cant say whether its charging or doing anything else) and then put in the battery and wait
maybe you're lucky and the phone will boot
and report pls
I didn't work. I've put my phone in the loader for over 24 hours, but nothing happened.
But my phone wasn't completely drained. Perhaps that is a condition to make this work. The only question is, how do I drain my battery when I can't turn on my phone?
i have used an 5watt light bulb ^^
connected on + and - and then waited till light goes out
Wel, I connected a little lamp and waited until it went out. Then when I put my battery in my phone and pressed the ON button nothing happend, not even the green light flashing shortly.
When I put my phone in the loader the LED started flashing red. And that whent on for a while until it stoped, and the LED did nothing. Then I waited over 24 hours, but nothing has happend.
When I put my phone in the loader now, it's just like before, the green light burns a little while, then nothing..
it happened to me again.. freeze and then no boot.
but i think i know whats wrong. for my phone i can say, that the battery is ok and the rom/os aswell.
its hardware problem. something is screwed up inside the phone.
when i press the phone at randomly places and hold it + then pushing on-button it boots up
i will open it tomorrow

[Q] X10 will not turn on at all

So, sort of long story, i'll cut it short
-Got an old X10, had stock 2.3.3
-Rooted it
-Did not unlock bootloader, got kinda scared.
-Tried to install FeraLab custom ROM, it failed probably because of sdcard permissions; i accidentally wipe /system /data /cache
-stuck at first Sony Ericsson screen
-Somehow managed to flash a 2.1 stock rom with flashtool, after an hour of different combinations of enterring flash mode and pulling the battery
-Tried to install FeraLab again, this time it went through
-After install, rebooted, phone shut down during boot up process
-Will not turn on at all. Even when plugged into a PC, wall, not plugged in, pulling battery, etc.
I think what happened is that FeraLab needed a newer baseband than the 2.1 stock rom had. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this sucker to even turn on? Not a single LED is on when plugged in, giving me the impression that it's not charging.
If the battery has drained out, it might take some time before it kicks in and indicates that it is charging.
If the ROM has failed somehow, it might not show that it is charging at all, but might be charging.
Either way: Let it charge "blindly" for a while, and see what happens.
Once it does boot up to some level or shows life-signs, let it charge fully before you'l attempt a ROM flash.
The flash/recovery mode needs a full battery, and reason is that the external power isn't used even when connected while in flash/recovery mode.
If you happen to be in bad luck, and the ROM failed as a result of a drained battery, you might have to charge the battery externally. Use an external battery charger made for 3.6 volts Lithium Polymer batteries, and make sure to align the + and - terminals properly.
I can recommend the multicharger from Powerbase, called C-734U:
http://www.powerbasehk.com/product.php?id=148
Using it myself to charge the X10 battery, as well as other batteries from other devices I have.
EDIT:
(For some reason, powerbase has taken back that it'll charge Lipo batteries, but when I bought mine, it was described as a li-ion, li-poly and Ni-MH charger, and it't ability to charge li-poly batteries was the very one reason to why I bought it.
I suspect PowerBase does not want to take responsibility if anything happens to the li-poly-batteries, as they are known to be more dangerous than other types.)
I've left it on the wall charger all night, no response or anything. Luckily, I bought a new battery a few days ago, so when that comes in, hopefully it will be charged enough for this thing to boot.

Yeah, i'm not sure what he expected. But, good news! Now for some reason my phone started blinking red whenever I tried to turn it on! I guess the battery completely ran out or something. It also blinks every now and then when plugged in, so I guess it's charging. The previous owner of this phone said that it had some battery problems, so that's why I ordered that new battery. I'll let it charge for awhile and let you guys know what happens.
Okay, after getting my new battery, the phone will still not turn on. I think i've figured out two behaviors:
1. If the battery is nearly completely out of charge, it will flash a red light
2. If the battery has charge, it will not do anything at all.
Anyone know how to fix this?
While trying to turn on the phone, after long-press power button, do you get a flash from status led & short vibration?

No vibration, the red LED flashes three times, and that is , as I said before, what happens when the battery seems to not have any charge. If I have a charged battery it does absolutely nothing.
Have you removed sim & sd card and tried. I know it sounds dumb but when I flashed a bad kernel I had to try to connect flash mode like 10 times. Finally I left the phone unplugged from pc, started flashtool and started flashing. I only put battery in phone just before holding back key. I never connected USB until tool said to dis-connect phone and connect in flashmode.
i wish you luck, I know how I felt when it went wrong

Rom : Spikelabs GB Gaming rom
Kernel : Ferakernel v23 beta6
I tried another battery, charger, data cable.. Tried flashing stock & spikelabs kernel., but of no use..
Any help is greatly appreciated..
Thanks in advance.. :good:
Something like that happened to me not long ago!
I was trying to flash some ROMs and I messed up then my phone wouldn't turn on!
But Miracously, I could flash a Stock 2.3.3 which fixed the problem!
At first, I used Sony PC Companion, which helped a lot- and after I screwed it for the second time, I used FlashTool-
I don't know if this was helpful, but I hope your x10 will be fixed soon!
yeah try the PC Companion first, it helped me too a couple of weeks ago
No luck...
Hi friends..
Tried to repair using PC companion, but was able to connect only in flash mode, unable to proceed software update..
I previously tried flashing stock GB using flashtool thrice. Still couldn't switch on the phone.. What else may i try..
Thanks friends..

Xperia Mini Pro (sk17i) Bricked?

Hi there. First of all, sorry about my english, but i'm spanish
I was reading a lot, and i cant find a solution to my phone. It sudently becomes a brick just when charging (with anothers phone charger) and the battery was lower than 10%
It doesn't work, and don't response to any of all solutions i've read (Take out SIM, SD card, remove battery and wait... ) no way... Screen never come back to iluminate again. Just, when pushing power buttom, the phone's vibrates.
So tired of the brick, i've arrived at this page. And I read this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568792
And try to become my phone back...
At least, the phone enter in flashmode, and i can flash with flashtools... but the phone never come back... just the brick
I tryed to flash with the Xperia_2011_FreeXperia_ALL.ftf file and OK
Afther that, take out the USB and flash again with one ROM i get from here:
Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i)
4.0.2.A.0.42 - http://www.mediafire.com/?hevz3x5w9pqt24q
4.1.B.0.431 - http://www.mediafire.com/?j0bdx06zz5skvzt
But the phone never works. One time afther flashing with 4.0.2.A.0.42 i noticed, that trying to power on the phone, the red led shyne 3 times, and thats supposed to be the battery. But i don't know if the battery now is charged. I've left it hours charging, and hours too to the USB...
Supposedly, i cant flash without battery in the phone, but flashtools finish correctly
So... any idea?
There is something i can do?
Thank all of you who read this!
Its probably battery empty. recharge battery or get a friends and try

First make sure that your battery is really fine. Try another one.
If that fails, see if you can get your device into flash mode?(Switched off+Vol Down + USB cable)
If yes, try flashing a custom ROM. For example, download CyanogenMod from here, use Flashtool (guide) to flash the kernel provided in the downloaded ROM's ZIP file. Then, boot again into Clockword Mod Recovery(Keep pressing Vol DOwn button while boot or google for how to enter recovery for your phone). Copy the downloaded Cyanogenmod ZIP to SD card and install it via ClockwordMod recovery.
See if the above works.

Try booting up your phone with the USB connector plugged in the PC (maybe it will charge the battery then)

At least my phone (LWW WT19i does not work without the battery with Flashtool. I'm not sure about your device.
Anyway try flashing a custom ROM like I said. Try unlocking bootloader first though from here
U said that red light show when try to on the phone.
Just try another battery.. It should work

You said LED blinks 3 times so if the color of LED is RED then it indicates empty battery..
Hey, my problem wasnt the same as yours, but it helped for me when i got only service logo on screen.
On this link you find a "Play_v1.01_TA brick fix UPDATE" zip.
Download, unpack and flash it.

[Q] Htc Nexus one hard bricked?

Hi there!
This thread is my last hope, so please dont let me down folks...:cyclops:
The story short - one sunny morning i turned on my HTC Nexus One and it got stuck with te X on the screen for about 15 minutes, non of the buttons responded, so i did the first thing that came in my mind - i pulled out the battery. After inserting the battery the phone went full brick, i mean literally, no reaction on anything, even conected to the wall charger, there is no sign of life, no charging LED, nothing. Connected to the PC, it says USB device not recognised.
I dont think this is a hardware proble, the phone workwd fine until this interrupted power on. Phone runned on stock Androud, i have not played aroun with it - no bootloader unlock, no rooting.
I searched the internet for a solution, tried a lot of button combinations like in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069032
but still no luck, i cannot restore or flash it while my PC does not recognise the phone.
Found some info about those Usb Jig things, but they work only on Samsung phones, so, is there a way to force the phone to go in recovery mode, or give any sign of life so i can try to recover it or flash a diferent ROM?
The warranty has ended, so no hope there.
Hope there is a way out of this, and, sory for my bad english. :good:

Well no, bricked is a term used when you are rooted and flash a bad rom, kernel, etc. You have no root, so you cannot be "bricked". Just a software failure, you cannot flash another rom because, again, you have no root or custom recovery. Your best bet is trying to send it back to your carrier and get it replaced

The warranty time is out, so there is no help from the carrier, unless for cash...
But there must be a way to bring it back to life.

Now the screen may not show, but try booting into fastboot mode by press and hold the Trackball+Power buttons together.
I'm not sure about the nexus one, but newer nexus devices have factory images, supplied by Google. If they exist for the nexus one, you should be able to save your device by flashing them through fastboot. That is if the images exist and you can get to fastboot.
