Samsung Rolling Out Android Ice Cream Sandwich To Galaxy S II This Month
Mar 05 2012 06:03 PM | mobile_sensei in Articles
South Korea consumer electronics giant Samsung has unveiled that its current flagship Galaxy S II handset, will be receiving an update to Android ‘Ice Cream Sandwich' 4.0, mid-March.
The company made public this news over Facebook, from their Israel SamsungMobile.IL account - reports Android news website Android Authority.
This Google mobile OS site has noted that "March 15 will be the release date for the Samsung Galaxy S2 upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich", where the Israeli version of the Samsung Galaxy S II is based on the international version.
The site goes on states that it's safe to assume that the new version of Android platform will then roll out globally, as a result of the mobile phone variant used in Israel.
Android ‘Ice Cream Sandwich' OS was seen on a number of new mobile phones launched at Mobile World Congress last week, but it is really only widely available on the Samsung made Galaxy Nexus, manufactured for Google.
ICS marries the mobile phone version of the operating system, with aspects only once found in the tablet ‘Honeycomb' 3.0 platform - where this deployment by Samsung could placate those awaiting the Samsung Galaxy S III, which never made an appearance at MWC.

thats the international version bub...not ours

still all referring to the 9100. not the i777. You could probably discuss it with the folks over in the 9100 forum, who will actually be getting that update though.
Not really new news, not a question of if we get it but when. Samsung has said for the last 2 months they will roll it out to our phone "late first quarter" which would be March. Real question is if we will be subject to carrier delays.

Earlier this month, a leak bought an unofficial list of devices that would be getting updated to Android 4.4 KitKat, at least in the U.S.. Today, Samsung USA has decided to make things official and has announced which of its phones and tablets will be getting the KitKat update, with many of the devices that were named in the leak actually included in the official list, including low-end devices like the Galaxy Tab 3 and the Galaxy S III mini (the upgraded model with LTE launched last year on AT&T and Verizon, not the international variant that came out in 2012.)
If you’re rocking a Galaxy Note 3 or Galaxy S4, expect to see a notification for the update today itself, especially if you’re on Sprint or US Cellular, as Samsung mentions that it will start rolling out starting today, confirming earlier leaks that suggested the update would be making its way to devices on the two networks.
Here’s the full list of devices that will be getting KitKat:
• Galaxy Note 3
• Galaxy Note II
• Galaxy S4
• Galaxy S4 mini
• Galaxy S4 Active
• Galaxy S4 zoom
• Galaxy S III
• Galaxy S III mini
• Galaxy Mega
• Galaxy Light
• Galaxy Note 8.0
• Galaxy Tab 3
• Galaxy Note 10.1
• Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition
That’s a pretty big list, which should make users of the aforementioned devices quite happy, though if you’re using a non-flagship device, we would recommend patience as Samsung will likely take its time pushing out the newer version of Android. The presence of the Galaxy Note 10.1 on the list is especially good to see, as users of the device have been pretty vocal of the poor support Samsung has extended to the original Galaxy Note tablet, with the device on Android 4.1.2 for more than a year.
Here’s the press release:
Samsung Confirms KitKat for U.S. Smartphones and Tablets

Samsung Galaxy J3- Review

The J3 is one in every of the entry-level models in Samsung’s Galaxy line-up, and you'll be able to decease within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for £150 through distributors like Mobile Fun. we tend to see whether or not it’s value your cash in our Samsung Galaxy J3 2016 review. See all budget phone reviews.
At this value you shouldn’t expect an impressive specification, and also the Samsung Galaxy J3 is so a jack of all trades and master of none. an honest all arounder, it'll suit non-demanding users WHO desire a large-screen, essential phone for basic tasks like browsing social media or the online.

NEW SAMSUNG GALAXY J3 2016 REVIEW: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland value AND availableness
The Galaxy J3 isn't oversubscribed directly through Samsung within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and it’s unlikely you’ll notice it accessible through any of the most United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland mobile operators. However, at £150 it’s arguably low cost enough to shop for outright and add a SIM-only set up from any network you prefer.
Our Samsung Galaxy J3 2016 came from Mobile Fun, wherever it prices £150 for the gold edition. There also are black and white versions of this phone wherever accessible, and Mobile Fun sells a spread of cases and accessories for the J3.
