WM7 Rom on Neo ? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hi All,
Is it possible that install windows 7 rom on neo ?

Very improbable.....:
Wm7 is proprietary closed software, even if you found one for similar hardware you wouldn't have the exact drivers, they would have to be written from scratch, which lets face it phones are obsolete within a year or two so can't really see anyone reverse engineering....
And before anyone mentions hd2 that was a windows phone that has android ported to it a completely different kettle of cats.

WP7 on Xperia Neo is a waste of good hardware,because,excepting UI,WP 7 is much weaker platform than Android.Trust me,i've worked 1 week with a Lumia 710,and it was horrible.If you want WP7 UI,you can install Launcher 7 from Market,MILocker with WP7 theme,zune player,wp7 contacts,messaging 7 and wp7 email,and you'll have a complete wp7 ui,with Android OS. This is how my phone looks like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264324&page=26

I wanted to know if we can port Windows 7.5 OS or symbian.
I know and I agree android is the net and that is why I am use Xperia Neo
Btw, symbian wasn't bad. I used more than 6 symbian phone
I also have iPhone 3G but I gave it to my sister cuz ios is really pain in the neck.

Totally agree with this... android is Open Source and hence can be worked on and ported to some devices.

I don't think so!

Thnks for the launcher 7 idea, i would try it if it feels the same. but i believe it wont have the same push mail service as wm7.

Because android is open source it can be ported to other devices... However wp7, iOS, symbian are not open source so they cannot be ported.

100%

i dont know why we r having this topic in 1st place

Pretty improbable to happen. WM7 is not open source, so you would need to spend a lot of time (and probably money too...)

And just to remember that it is very difficult to a different system, such as the WP7 android on a device, fully functional, stable ... you will have many problems with incompatible ...

Although it is likely than possible isn't one developer in the process of bringing to lg forums,a windows based rom. If I'm not mistaken I believe its based on cm9, cfjames ? Maybe that's wrong ? I'm not for or against anything new and it all sounds like a good idea but windows sucks anyhow....I'd still try the rom out, always down for testing bit as of right now my stock rom is blackbird v1.2-beta1 with LG home 2.3.4

It wont be impossible as long as its compatible armv6...
We have had a port of Optimus Net which was MSM7227T...
But for it, we need to work as a team... cuz we will need WP7 compatible bootloader... ryt now we can only boot android...
Also, it will be a pain is the a$$ due to lack of WP compatible system files etc..
Remember, theres no source available n thats gonna be tough...
I love Metro UI too..

If it boots and basic features (touchscreen) work, can I test it?(PM link) I don't care how buggy it is, just wanna test it:d:d:d

Haha its an Android based rom definately! I don't think its posible at the moment to build a rom based off Windows 6.5-7.5 operating systems yet... its not openly sourced like Android.

You can run Android on your laptop because it's open source and someone can build it for your laptop. Windows Phone isn't, therefore you can only run it if Microsoft allows you to, which they obviously don't do for Android devices.
Maybe try launcher 7 from market

It won't be possible right now, not any Sony phone.
Windows Phone currently only has support for 800x480 displays, and no Sony (Ericsson) phone has ever had that resolution as far as I know.

It is a prototype, and an old one (judging by the Sony Ericsson logo on the top bezel), which is also specifically designed for Windows Phone, as there's a Windows Flag logo / button on the bottom bezel. Whatever resolution that has, it has never gone into retail.

You should write Nokia, Windows, Apple and Google to have a collaboration with quad -boot mode it would be a killer combination. hehehe
For tablet it can be accepted man you looking multiple-booting option on such tiny devices.
Android has the most functionality you can expect. at times Symbian is the most functional among all now time has changed see current market share of NOKIA.......

[Q] What are the interest of XDA developers to get their hands on Ubuntu OS?

First of all. I'm not a developer. I consider myself a power user.
With that said. I do love the idea of try Ubuntu OS on my SGS3. And when Canonical announced that they are bringing their Ubuntu to mobile phones, I became very excited.
My question is this. How many developers and power users are interested in getting their hands on Ubuntu OS to try to get it working on the devices they own? As an individual, I have no power to go to Canonical and tell them that I am interested in Ubuntu OS for mobile phones. However if we, as the XDA family of users and developers, among the biggest of hobby developers out there, and probably one of the biggest Beta testers you could find, connected with Canonical, there is a possibility that we could get their attention.
I for one would love to see an image for the S3. As a dual boot or just plain Ubuntu on the phone.
So here is my proposal. I would like to create a petition for XDA to contact Canonical on behalf of the members of the XDA forums, to offer our services to Canonical as Beta testers and to make Ubuntu compatible with our devices that we have in our possession. Android is great, but we still don't have the full power of our devices the way we are individuals are yearning for. Ubuntu to me is representing that freedom.
Your comments and thoughts are appreciative.
Hans-Erik
Count me in! I would like to port Ubuntu for my Xperia Neo xD
I'd love a port of some sort - would be willing to report bugs etc.
Well from what I have read Galaxy Nexus users will be able to install Ubuntu for Android on their device in the coming weeks, and with Ubuntus schedule I am guessing late February. Once the installer is out it will only be a matter of time before there are unofficial images for the SGS3 etc.
One thing I am looking forward to exploring is the porting of Android APKs to the Ububtu software.

I think the longest period ive ever used Ubuntu after installing it was for a month after which i started getting frustrated due to the unavailability of certain programs that i used..not sure what release it was but it was at around the same time the iPhone 3G was released. I could get iTunes to work on it but it had to run through Wine and even then i had issues with the itunes recognizing the phone. Honestly, i felt like i had to go through 10 different steps to perform a simple task whereas on the windows it was as easy as installing and just running the program..quick and very convenient. But im sure those issues have long been tackled so ill still give it another try..i hope this time it would be worth it. Thanks for the input.

Not that I think it will make much a difference, but I did sign your petition. Source will be out soon and our guys over here will be all over it. I miss Ubuntu dearly, my companies software will only run from windows and worse yet internet explorer, so I cant wait for a couple of our awesome devs. to take a crack at this.
Hopefully Ubuntu for phones will make an even bigger hit than android and get more Americans running Ubuntu. Then maybe big corporations and companies will stop forcing its employees to use Micro$oft products.

I have a phone with WP7 (Lumia 710),and imo,WP7 sucks. I don't know how WP 8 it is,but definitely Android (even 2.1 or 2.3) is many years ahead WP7.
I think it's possible, but windows 8 RT would be waaaaaaaay nicer (it also runs on HTC HD2), and it already has an official version for ARM processors.

Hello Mr face, hello Mr palm, how do you do.
Ok hd2 was a Windows phone that had android ported to it, because android is open source, anyone can modify the code.
Windows is a propriety closed software, only ms drones can access source.
Now if you can find a Windows phone that contains exactly the same hardware components then you may stand a chance, but there isn't, thats why you turn your back to the wind when you pee.
