[Q] anything new or better in v20g..(hoping so)...

anyone who has tried v20g....is there any new changes...when compared to gb rom's from noejn/andy/mik??
Read all the Threads about V20G, you may find the Answer there.
Use search before asking such Questions.
Thanks
i wanted to get replies from ppl who have tried it..!!
posting such questions in developer forum isn't needed and searching hundreds of pages is tough...
you can enlighten me with the direct link..or teaching me efficient ways of searching..
All in all, no the V20x(A,G) arent better then Miks,Andys or Noejn Rom and Franko'S Kernel.
But sometime this Night/Morning (Europe) LG released the 2.3.3 Source and we can hope on better Kernels..and maybe more bugless Roms from the Devs.
It looks like Andy already started, and im sure Mik and the others will follow soon in the next Days.
Andy statet that they have to do a complete restart (rewrite?) with the Kernel.

Well, there's at least 2 things that will be better in the V20x kernels: UMS & (my pet peeve in both current GB roms) Bluetooth calling!
Lack of bluetooth calling has made me come back to Froyo (void.) every time. But I guess Andy and Mik_os won't be far behind now that the sources have been released.
does the kernel from the official sources fixed our multitouch axis inversion and touchbug?
if it is i will keep my phone happily
No checked the axis inversion..new.kernel doesn't fix it

Try V20B (Russia) if you want to

[Q] KI8 is there any point?

Am considering KI8 but holding back - is there any point if ICS is round the corner?
I can't find much solid info on when ICS will be available for the S2... Anybody know if we'll see it inside of a month or so?
tia!
Surely it will depend when the source code is released? That's assuming they do as they didn't with honeycomb
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
ICS isn't even related yet, i would imagine the sgs2 will get ics, how quick is anyone's guess.
Team hacksam will work in it, but it's a whole new version and will take time for them to port it when then source hits.
They said they wouldn't release the honeycomb sources to stop people putting it on phones and giving everyone a bad experiance, we ics is gingerbread+honeycomb we should get sources again.
Again, how soon, no one knows, depends how much has changed, aka how hard it is for the cm guys to port, or how fast samsung are.
So go for ki8, you shouldn't need to wipe between stock roms versions, i hear it's supposed to be faster than ki3.
Goodness knows when the next leak will be.

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
for me there doesnt seem much point in going for Ki8, not because ICS may turn up but because every rom thread ive read based on it seems to be quite buggy. Im sticking with Ki3 until something comes out that adds something new
I havent used KI3 so I can't compare.
Im using KI8 and havent stumbled over any bugs.
Device is fast, stable and smooth, even when underclocked at 800 using setCPU.
Using chainfires rooted stock KI8 kernel.
Best battery life I've had on this device so far. Have frozen the usual apps tho.
My opinion..worth it.

Let my phone rest in peace

Is there any ROM that allows the phone to be turned off while charging?
Currently using Mik's 6.5.8.
Don't understand while they haven't implemented this option.
Yes, alot of froyo roms ie...devoid froyo final, mgatron, void forever (I think) have they battery charging thing, I don't know of the technical reason for it not being on cm7, haven't really cared to much to find out but I guess there was a poll of users who opted it out for cm7

All roms based on official lg firmware have this feature.
That's megatron, just search for ciaox's repository of mods or something to that extent..I want to say its under the android development stickies in our device forum...its a chronological list of roms by versions, tutorials and different kernel versions
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
I've never used official anything, once I rooted I stuck with custom roms and unofficial ports...back in the day, flashing radio's on cupcake/donut was easy, radio's are today's basebands, I've stuck to old baseband since I've had this phone

Oh well, I guess I have to do some lobbying to the CM folks.
Obviously, the phone must have the ability to stay ON while being charged. But there are also times when it makes sense to turn off the phone.
Just imagine the amount of energy saved if all the phones are powered off for 8 hours a day!
let it charge in recovery, it's almost as good as the froyo roms charging mode. pretty fast, too.
I dont wanna cr8 new thread thats why i posted in this thread..i m not able to charge...yesterday at nite it wan 32 & today mornin same i came frn skool but still same.
I hve searched but cant find any answer..! so guyz plz help.. :'(
I hve to go to camp tummorow..so help me asap..

[Q] S2 Freeze problem

Hi all, I'm not sure whether this is the right place to deliver my problem on my Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100.
My S2 is freezing frequently and I am having difficulty to trace down what is the actual cause.
My current running ROM is CM10 official nightlies.
I try to track down the obsessive running processes using WatchDog.
And, it turn out to be android.media.processing is running at high CPU (>50%) always.
So, I tried to disable the media scanner using Rescan Media. However, the freezing problem is still occured.
The freezing problem could be happened at any time(internet browse surfing, incoming call, sending a message, plugging charger into phone) and even during idling!
I am really out of idea, so I would like to seek any help from all of you. Thanks in advance.
Happened to me despite whatever kernel i tried on JB. Tried stock cm, stock aokp(the same aa stock cm), changmin's, dorimanx and siyah.
I didnt even undervolt plus i even tried to increase thw stock voltage values given in case JB requires more lower. But i cant get past 2days of usage without any freeze issues.
Im a heavy user of this phone and i charge more than 3x daily or just leave it charge or use while charge.
Will be testing leaked 4.1.2 today to see if it still persists. If it still does, im thinking of a worn out mobo or processor might be the case. If its fine, maybe those AOSP isnt much stable for some processors/mobos.
Was suprised btw seeing not many complaints over the issue across s2 section. Hardwarw issue or aosp stuffs?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Currently still trying to debug for the issue.
The phone works fine so far after I re-flash the CM10 without flashing the Gapps.
Now just trying to run the phone with some daily running apps like (Gmail, Facebook, Whatsapp, Line) to see if the freezing problem occured again.
I was worrying it could be due to faulty hardware since I accidentally drop it twice before.
I had lots of freezes, but on JellyBam it's working smooth...
My S2 freeze again while I am surfing the net. Anyone has any solution to this?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Im testing Leaked JB now. Survived yesterday without freezes. Imma report on today and tomorrow. If it continues to success full day withour freezes, im guess my phone cant handle aospJB stuffs

They run the same base which was CM10's main kernel n base stuffs. Tried all kernels and freezing happens on all of em (AOSP JB roms).

Absolutely no freezes after two days running Sammy JB Leak. Imma give it one more day till i go back to AOSPJB.
Notw that the uptime pic attached dosent show two days since i had to manually reboot the device after having some 'insufficient storage' errors n the reboot solved the issue. That is why it isnt showing an uptime of full two days

That's good to hear that. Please keep me updated. If everything goes smoothly, I might as well switching to the leaked JB.
Kind of fed up with the freezing problem already. My phone has just freezed for more than 3 times in a single day. >_<

Well, I am now to change to AOKP, specifically RevoltJB.
However, I get stucked at the bootscreen.
I do exactly what had been told in the thread in order to flash the ROM, but still ended up in the boot loop.
I tried to flash with the recommended options but nothing change better.
Now I am trying to download another clean zip file to make sure the file is not void. :silly:

Try AoKP official or Rootbox Release /Nightlies. Plain good and reliable. Im avoiding those non-controlled environment, super experimental and not much tested commits done in those other ROMs. Not to say that they arent good, its just that the devs trackrecord and status is a bonus imho.

Try another rom
If you guys got stuck in either CM10 or AOKP (I'm also stuck), try another rom.
I'm currently using ParaniodAndroid 4.1.2 jelly bean, and flashed a Siyah v5.0.1 kernel, which are cool.
I never get freezing problems ever after.

Paranoid are based off CM10 while AOKP and RootBox aokpJB are using GalaxyS2 specific stuffs from CM10 too. Most of our AOSPJB stuffs are similar to one another since hacksung are the pioneer who ported and built the base and improved over time with devs submitting patches to em.
But an issue caused by specific apps or framework is a diff case since those arent drivers/modules related and those are rom specific. Its hard to determine the root of the cause anyway -_-

So after few days using the official Sammy JB version, my phone did not freeze at all
Just the stock ROM is still so laggy as always. :crying:
Definitely going to wait for the CM team to come out with a stable CM10 and flash again.

Stable CM10 prolly wont happen till he get the sammy JB sources as we r still using ICS blobs. Now 4.2 has changed a lot at the base including hwcomposer, its a long way to go
Yes Sammy JB leak was stable as a daily driver bur im back on AOKPJB. After 4days of use, SODs and Freeze are back.. fuuuuu.. still, im used to this. Live on!

I just cant stand the freeze problem.
Anyway, thanks a lot for the information all these while.
I think I'll just live on leaked JB temporarily. :'(

Those freezing n sods are less severe now. Im on the latest 7.23 dorimanx and so far so good

[Q] Do ROMS take to to settle?

Excuse my ignorance, but I was wondering if ROMS take a couple days to settle? If so when you instal a nightly would that be counter productive since the rom that you install needs a couple days to settle.

I believe so. About roms taking a few days to settle. Can get a good grasp on battery life until day 3. My advice is to find a rom you really like and let it settle and nandroid that way you always have a stable fall back. Then install what ever you like. As to the nightlies. Preference. Not every nightly is going bring anything new to the device. Sometimes a nightly releases device specific changes they resolve bugs they just might not be your device. I always check the change log to see if it is worth it first.
