how did he do landscape with sense 4.0??? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

i thought sense 4.0 didnt have landscape? but if you notice a few seconds in the phone does it.
http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-lte-video-walkthrough

He mentions in the vid that he put it in sync mode, or whatever it's called that syncs the screen to a tv.
Sent from my blah blah blah blah

HTc Media link allows wireless mirroring and he had it in that mode I assume it goes landscape to fit dimensions of hi def tvs

Looking forward to a mod to make it happen all the time, never made sense why a phone designed to be used sideways doesn't adjust to work side ways.
So much easier to use the device in landscape mode, especially when driving

For this reason alone I've been using 3rd party launchers, I wonder if its because they think we would be annoyed if we took the phone out of our pockets and its in landscape instead of portrait
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2

From what I read looks like OneX users managed to get this working using an app from the market, plus there is at least 1 Rom that enabled it.

Any actual 3d apps out yet?

I was wondering if there are any actual 3d apps out yet. Something that actually utilizes 3d technology for our EVO3ds. It is impossible to search for them because so many have 3d graphics.
Thanks guys!

There is lots of 3D games by gameloft. If you meant apps then yeah I haven't seen any.

Ya I got some games, I'm just waiting for some apps.
Thanks.

What sort of app did you have in mind?
Not likely gonna happen unless it is an app that only runs in landscape. I don't think most developers want that kind of limit unless there is a benefit to 3D. The only benefit I can see is in movies and gaming.

Good point, but I'm thinking of maybe a neon drawing app. Love 3d maestro LOL.

do you mind linking to gameloft? I cannot seem to find any 3 d games on their site
There should be a shortcut in your app drawer.

out of curoisty, does an app lets say running on my evo4g be tweeked differently to run on a dual core device??
The phone displays 3d in both landscape and portrait modes. Just look in the gallery and change between them

It'd be neat to have a 3d homescreen.

It does, but I don't think it's optimized to use it like that... like the way it splits the image...

I got to experience that last night. I was playing the spider man game and it froze up on me. I was able to get out of the game and the home screen was in 3d. Looked really bad IMO.
I would love to see a 3D launcher, I wounder if 3D works in full screen portrait mode. From what i read i dont think so. would be sweet tho.

It would be neat but not practical imo. Unless it was docked.which I would try out. I really love the dock layout but ummm...need a dock LOL.

I saw this in the commercial yesterday... i am upset they falsly advertise with that CGI. I don't mind, but there are people (average consumer) who are now going to be under the impression the entire OS is 3D, they are in for a surpirse

To tell u the truth, the entire OS in 3D would prolly make me go permanently cross eyed or atleast mildly cockeyed
Not to mention bottles after bottles of Excedrin
but I hope devs find a way to tweak the system for more 3D just as a novelty tho, a type of "just cuz we can" feature. I'm sure our batteries would drain in like 3 hours max.

There really needs to be a full 3D Rosie so this phone is always displaying in 3D ... Given the battery drain not smart but would be awesome none the less

i doubt its possible our stereospic display only displays 3d in landscape to my understanding of it
I can't imagine having 3D all the time, it hurts to look at lol

It'd definitely be cool to have it so if the 3D switch is on the whole phone will show in 3D.
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515a using XDA App
What about coding it so it displays 3d when switched to landscape format. I've always loved launchers in landscape. And pretty much everything else in landscape
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
I think a simpler and more practical solution would be a 3d live wallpaper (only activates in landscape), since all the icons would sit at 0 depth anyway. Probably would require an AOSP UI since sense is portrait only.
3d isnt landscape only (as far as i can tell) you just need to be further away for portrait cuz the 2 images are coming from a space closer together. it would be cool for someone to mod the homescreen so the icons would still be flat, just pop out. then again, sounds like a headache, and constantly trying to straighten the phone up with ur face.
Sounds better in theory
I really don't think my eyes could take 3D all the time. But it's always nice to have options.

turn off 3d

is there a way to turn off the 3d effect on the rosie? like, when the certain widgets pop out. I just flashed a rom on my rezound that you can turn it off on leedroid tweaks, and it makes the rosie move at like 60fps.. it's so fast. this thing lags like crazy and is awful so i want to see if there's a way to speed it up!

Try Spare Parts or Spare Parts Plus (both free) from the Market. Might give you the speed up you need.
nah they don't help, but thanks anyone know if there's a leedroid tweaks app for the view??
Sent from my PG41200 using XDA App
He makes a rom for this device, running it right now. However, there aren't many tweaks in it. I believe an updated version is due to release soon. Perhaps it will have more tweaks.
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using xda premium
yeah, he makes it for the flyer...which sucks because the view isn't compatible with flyer roms they're like the same exact device, but the flyer is different enough that it warrants different development for each..
Man, I wish I knew where I read it. But there is a thread or write up on what you need to change/edit in sense to remove the 3d scrolling. I know some Roms have it disabled.
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using xda premium
damn! that would be great...idk if anyone else agrees, but scrolling through homescreens on honeycomb is horribly slow lol
yeah mine is the same way and was hoping to disable that as well. I am sure lee is working on a new version and hopefully will make it less laggy.
if i recall though, lee doesn't ake anything for the view... only the flyer :-(

By the 3D on your Resound, are you talking about the supersmoothrosie hack? It's still 3d, but flats 2d widgets right?
Ask hamdir to port the hack to Flyer.
yeah man that's exactly it. that's built in to leedroid tweaks.

Sent from my EVO using xda premium
On the galaxy nexus, you actually have to line up the phones so that the evo is about and inch higher than the gnex, i tried to do the same with my friend's phone and she gave me these wierd looks because i put them together with the tops lined up and kept smacking them together like i was playing barbie and ken makeout session.
Apparently the antennas on the phones have to be aligned just right to get it to work. I used a webpage on her phone using chrome beta and it tried to launch the url on my phone via opera.
Lmao makes sense

Screen lag..

I'm starting to get more and more irritated with this phone. I sent my galaxy nexus back for this one and I am starting to regret it. Every time I browse facebook and swipe up or down sometimes it lags about a split second and then it will scroll. It also does it on web pages. I also play the drag racing game and I experience some lag in that game as well. Has anybody had problems like this?

The only time I experience any type of lag with this phone is occasionally on the home screen and that's probably due to having a ton of widgets on all 5 of my panels.

picky are we? lol
here is the thing brother..... you gotta keep this in mind, when these devices are designed/programmed(but this has mostly to do with the programming aspect) the developers try to find a healthy balance between performance and battery efficiency. every now and then you may see it sputter ever so slightly, but it is intentionally designed that way. your other option is to have your GPU in overdrive every time you even breathe on your screen and suck your battery every time you send a text.
don't be so picky. you have a 400mHz GPU with multi-point rendering capability.... it's not the hardware brother....
Sense 4.0 lags sometimes, it sucks but I don't think we can totally eliminate it. I notice it on different occasions, usually when I wake the phone up or open the app drawer.

you are basing "better" on blips in the user interface? lol come on maannn
and for the record... every nexus i have picked up was laggy as balls.... maybe that has something to do with the fact that it has the same GPU in it as the OG nexus
just sayin
i mean if it is TERRIBLY BAD then i would say it is the rom you are on, some misc tweak, maybe your 2d forced rendering isn't checked under the settings, who knows.... but i have had mine for a week now and have maybe seen it sputter like once. and i use it pretty heavily.
The EVO is better for some coming off different phones with completely different hardware. The evo 4g vs LTE is a no brainer. LTE wins. The nexus on the otherhand has similar specs as the EVO. (Dual core, ics, screen resolution?) Anyways you get the point. Get a phone based on personal preference. Not because its "the next big thing" the nexus is a great phone for some. Definetly not for me. Hence the reason why I got the LTE rather than the ole so stunning S3 or nexus..
hardware is beyond than extraordinary. Root the beast and unleash its full potential (when the proper Roms are fully functional). Or wait out official HTC updates.. my 2 cents

faster proc and gpu
better camera

Maybe you're just having a buyer's remorse cause you didn't go with the GS3 and convincing yourself the Evo is not good enough.
Two top phones right now for sprint is Evo LTE and GS3, everything else falls short.
The only stuttering or lag I get is sometimes on my lockscreen. I am using the weather lockscreen and the weather will stutter it's way in instead of being fluid. I think it is just the phone coming out of sleep.

Lol thanks for all the feedback guys and for not completely criticizing me. I never wanted the S3 to begin with. But I will agree with some things that were said about sense being a little buggy and what not. And I didn't get this phone because it was the next big thing. I got it because my nexus would get really hot when I was using it and the battery life was bad.

I’ve actually noticed this as well and I agree that it’s a little annoying. When scrolling in pretty much any app, my finger will move about 0.2” before the screen reacts. Once it realizes that my finger is on there, there is no problem tracking.
I downloaded Touch Test from the market and confirmed that this is not a hardware issue. In that app, the moment my finger touches the display, it begins tracking. The lock ring also moves immediately on the lock screen, so it must be something in certain apps.
I have noticed lag in the browser when scrolling when I have flash enabled. I noticed on my Galaxy S2 that when I would scroll down a web page with flash content, any flash content that is active continues to to be active while scrolling and it was VERY smooth. On the EVO LTE however, anything active flash content will become inactive. The lag I have experienced seems to be when the Evo takes a split second to "pause" any active flash before it begins scrolling. The more flash on a page, the more lag I experience. I've simply turned off my flash player. It's annoying to have to do that, but I have come to terms with it.
