+1 no reason not to. They "say" it voids your warranty, bit since rooting is reversible they wouldn't know if you unrooted before any warranty service. Just take the plunge.

Q: Should I relock bootloader?

I was just wondering should I re lock my bootloader bcuz since the source dropped I kno it will b unlocked bootloader with working 4g. Should I wait til then?

I would just wait, unless you need 4g now. The fix maybe as simple as flashing a new kernel.
I was thinking bout that too I don't need it right now but its good to have the retain 4g method long as hell too

If we could find the original recovery image, the retain your 4G method would be short and simple. Still haven't found it anywhere.

HTC Dev unlock?

What are the downsides of using this to root, other than warranty issues? Will anything prevent me from s off in the future? I've never used this method before.

If s-off is achieved, there will not be a problem for you. Just don't accept an OTA, and you'll be good.
So dev unlock keeps the s-on yet allows us to flash recovery and roms?

Is the latest update able to be rooted/unlocked?

I will be getting a note 2 either this week or the next. I am wondering if the newest ota is able to be rooted and unlocked so I can ROM up when I get it. Thanks. I heard that it would break root and patch the unlock but that was a week or so ago.

Yes, you can follow this guide to unlock/root your phone with the latest ota.

Can I root?

I know this is probably a redundant question, but I have the opportunity to trade for a One tonight. Can I root with the attached software?
Thanks!
