Yes coz many developers are moving to SGS3
Sent from my Xperia Ray using xda premium

lol, nice change of title however will be locked soon

Thats very likely. It's a superphone with a lot of potential. Basicly there are only two of this generation, so I can't see how this is not going to be a popular developer phone.

LOL I agree , XD
I dont own a defy but I do own a MB200 Dext and also a samsung s5830.
Motorola build quality is 2nd to none and since google have just purchased motorola mobility it might be a wise move.
BUT
when it comes to modding the phone - Odin in conjunction with samfirmware.com gives you everything you need to get you phone back if you brick it whereas on the Dext if you bricked it you were lucky to recover it depending on the necessary firmwares been available... and sometimes they are not.
Also Sumsung has just hired the priciple modder of the Cyanogen mod which means they are going to concentrate on their software development.
I suggest that you physically go and handle a defy and have a play with it and then make a decision - remember its going to become part of you and therefore you have to like it.
One thing about motorola IMHO is the motoBlur - you either love it or hate it - most of the roms that I have seen remove it - but in what it does it does well - it just the way it looks but it does drain resources big time to be continously connected to the net either 3G or Wifi.
I hope YOU make the right decision for the right reasons - good luck in your choice.

Yup - there's a lot of great things happening with Ace, so we wanted to put it back on the main index.
Most of the carriers in Asia just released the Galaxy Ace this May 2011 and June 2011. That's probably why we're seeing greater activity now for the Ace than before.

moved to legcy & low activity devices ??

why did the ace forum moved to legacy section?
we wanna complain
it is a verey active section
how to complain?
I also wanted this to be moved back to the main page. admins! please!
ya please admins move it back to the main page.. i feel like selling my device now.. really heartbreaking..
Lol
why taking it that much
Ace forum not has low activity at all
which called low activity see in galaxy fit forum thats called where second or third thread have two days agos posts
ace is not older even optimus one and x8 are much older than ace which still on main page
but they have recognize dev who update rom one in month still they called active forum
Anyway its not big deal
if you feel that bad and have free time read as much possible about development and start for your phone so you can contribute
Reasone for removing ace from main forum is to make place for new samsung device as our company realise lots device
and fit already transfered from main page so turn was our beloved ace
next will s XD

No point complaining. The site owners have done what they do on a regular basis. This has always happened and will always continue. Every now and then they look at which forums are busiest and they move the lower activity ones.
Its not a personal attack. Have you seen how many new high end phones have been released in the last six months around the world and how many are being sold every day? Some are more popular than others. It means nothing to be moved, as long as people keep the place alive it will be here.
If you need to be on the front page because of your insecurities buy a new phone because this forum won't be moved no matter how much anyone cries to the mods/admins/owners. Clicks mean money and they can earn more from others forums/phones with higher activity. Something has to earn money to keep the site functioning.

sadly I agree with you.. I should start learning android development I mean like from this week onward and start contributing to our community in some way.. I just graduated last week and its time to mess with android.. Nims could you direct me for some good development websites so I could start reading..
XDA's action to move GSA to "new house" more or less makes us unhappy but anyway it not affects to the fact that CyanogenMod 7.2 official release will include our devices (not nightlies as confirmed by Kolja Dummann on G+)

I think this is unfair..there are so many older and lower spec devices than SGA but still on the first page... but as long as you guys keep developing for our ace no matter where we belong to.. and I love my ace..maybe 1-2 years more before I change my phone to the new one with new technology..
I am still on my ace, even though I am planning to buy SE Xperia Neo V, I will never throw nor sell my ACE, my baby...

Me too...I dont think i will be able to part with my ace easily,Its my first Android phone,if i learned anything about Android, its because of this phone...Even if i want to change....
I dont think my father would let me buy one atleast for the next 6 months anyway
Not that changing phones regularly is a good thing, with a smartphone market like this, you really have no choice, look at Ace,when it came out.It was an awesome phone for its price,a mid-high end ranged phone...But now its sad that people call single core under 1GHz phones, low end
this news has no effect on me. i still love my ace,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

How can someone add developers to a phone? Xda isn't a company that has developers that get paid to make custom roms and kernels. Developers here are all volunteers. They don't get paid for what they do. They develop for phones they have.
Show some respect.

you will have to wait its still a new phone even unlocking the phones sim lock hasnt been out long and is only possible through SETools.
give it a while and once ICS is out and the devs get hold of the phone it will happen, altho we have to wait for ICS 1st!!! lol
Once it has ICS you may see more devs. Problem is the phone isnt widely available for free on all carriers and it isnt the flagship model. Most lowend phones receive less dev support.

I'd say that it has to do primarily with sales, not with the status of the phone as high or low end. The Xperia Play was a mid-high end when it came out, and it didn't have a huge community since it sold poorly. The HTC Wildfire and Xperia X8 were thought as mid-low end or low end models and they still have a following: they sold decently well. One has to take into account other factors as well: whether the bootloader is locked or unlocked (this basically blows Motorola out of the water), whether the company is overall hostile or friendly towards devs (Sony has made huge strides to please them, which has shown nice results), the difficulty of making ROMs themselves (Chinese companies have tablets which are easily hackable, but they tend not to publish source code)...

Just look around the forums. There are tons of mods and roms - samsung based, aosp, aokp, cm - based, you name it, you can even dual-boot two roms. It's usually the first device to get new goodies.

You sure? Due the large amount of devices sold, there will always be interest in development. S3 has sold 30 million and I'm sure S4 will do just as well.
Some developers on here have moved over to Sony, but that forum is far from active. Your average user wouldn't want a Sony device.

S II got dual boot much before, long long time ago. But real development is on the S II, much more people using, much more people developing, easier and older, so devs already have a lot of experience there.
