[Q] phone reboot and reboot + indication light on and off - HTC EVO 3D

ok, here is an odd problem... will try to explain it as good as I can... with my poor english.
got a GSM model here. after rooting the phone, I updated once for HTC clock wiglet then all the sudden the phone won't boot. it stuck at the HTC logo with the white screen, and then after a short moment, it vibrates then reboot again. and it keeps doing this again and again. guess thats normal among androids? but I just don't know how to fix it. as I checked the recovery screen. it got s-on again. not sure if that is the cause of the problem, but again, I dont really know hot to fix it.
so I was thinking flashing the phone again? but another funny thing happened. the phone doesnt seem to be charging. the orange/red on the top right is staying on for a couple of seconds then off for a couple of seconds then on... so on and so forth.
I am afraid it was the USB port that caused the crash of the system so I think I better ask here first before I do anything.
Anyone has experienced anything like this? or has any idea whats going on?
thanks in advanced!!

forgot to mention. the orange/red indication light is going on and off with and without charging

Anyone?

Sounds to me that your battery is empty. The reason it turns off after you turn it on is because it turns on, sees the battery level low and shuts off to prevent the battery from getting damaged.
The blinking light is common when charging a dead battery. Let it charge for at least 30 minutes and see if the charge light turns solid.

I left it charge over night n it's still playing up. But anyway, I have send it back for warranty. Thx all the same!

Is my battery dead ?

I woke up this morning, and my phone wasn't turning on. I thought it was dead and I put it to charge. I notice that the red light comes on for like 3 seconds then it goes off, I thought it was the cable so i used a diferent one, but still the same thing. I can turn on the phone for 30 seconds then it turns off again by it self. Now I dont know if I should take it to sprint (because I got Insurance) because my phone is rooted and I'm affaid they would say that happend because the root. what can i do?

I had the same thing LOL. When its turned off, and you charge it, the led blinks a few times right? Just keep it on the charger, it is charging. It just goes into some special mode when turned off and charging. Idk what that mode is called, but I read something about it on xda . I was concerned about that when I had it too, but I just kept it on the charger and after some time it works again (not one minute though). To get out of the mode: remove and instert battery.

I already thought so, but with me it didn't boot by itself, I had to do that manually :S. I'm glad for you it works again though

[q] htc amaze bricked?

was running quicksense from about january dont know exactly which version.
phone completely died on me,
connected it to the charger and it turned on to the green "htc" logo,
but then it turns off..
so i tried booting to recover; holding volume down + power, with no luck.
tried it via connected to computer, no luck.
with & without batter still nothing..
weird thing is, SOMETIMES the charging light will keep blinking.
also SOMETIMES, the screen stays off, and the vibration feedback when pressing the home, menu, back, and search keys, virbates..
do i have the first bricked amaze or what?
--the search key "restarts the phone"
i can tell because the keys no longer make the phone vibrate when pressed after pressing the search key.
I'm betting my money on you having a earlier recovery installed that doesn't allow proper boot if the battery is dead... crappy part about that? it doesn't let the battery charge either... Find someone with an Amaze, or Sensation, charge your battery in their phone for 30 minutes, then try your phone again. Also, after your phone is charged, you probably want to reflash your recovery to a new one that doesn't exhibit this problem.
*just a wild guess, but it makes sense, it's happened to me*
*note, you could just have unrelated catastrophic hardware failure, lol*
As long as you have s - off you can't brick it.

S-Off isn't possible right now, S-On-Unlocked is safe. although having the recovery that doesn't support charging is like a temp-brick. You just need to charge your battery in another phone.
Or splice the battery directly to the wires for half an hour. That's how I charged when my charging port was the broked

Can you at least get into adb? You could try accessing it and then using adb to reboot into bootloader/recovery via "abd reboot recovery" or "adb reboot bootloader"
Did this get resolved? Just wanted to know if my hunch was right.
It sounds like a dead battery. The blinking light means (from my experience) that its charging but not enough juice to use yet. Once my phone died and it blinked for a couple of minutes. I tried turning on, but battery wasn't juiced enough. After a few minutes, the light turned solid and was charging and had enough power to turn on.
I would try a new battery. Good news is you're not bricked, and most likely, not even soft bricked

What version of CWM are you using?
thank you guys for all your replies,
i let it charge for about 30 minutes and then it finally turned on

Thought that was the issue. Splice the battery or flash a new recovery? Lol let's cut off his hand to cure the mosquito bite lol

i have the same issue i could get into hboot and recovery but i cant get passed bootload and i charge it for like an hour but it wont stop flashing what can i do is it the battery?
Amazing Brick
I've had a very similar issue to those mentioned here. I have the latest cwm recovery installed (five point something). After wiping battery stats my amaze went into a cycle of booting up normally then automatically restarting after about 30 seconds. Now it shows the amber light while charging, but will not boot at all, not even into recovery. adb says device not recognized, and the amber light flashes periodically and shuts off if i press the power button... should I trash this phone and get a galaxy s II ?

Charge it for 30-60 minutes. Unplug it and do a battery pull. Put battery back on and reboot your phone

Does the phone charge when you plug it in?

Amaze 4G wont turn on....Bricked?

So I got my Amaze on Friday, rooted and installed Energy Rom on Saturday, and phone just died on me on Sunday.
I was in the middle of playing Scramble with Friends and phone froze up on me. I had to take the batter out to reset it since the power button was not responsive. After I pulled the battery and put it back in, the phone would turn on.
So i read and read and found out people usually bought new batteries since the most likely culprit was a dead battery. I have a friend with the same phone and tried his battery. I saw the HTC Logo come on for a brief second and then that was it, nothing else. Phone died again and did not turn on (under his batter). I recharged my battery in his phone and tried that as well, but no luck.
Any ideas what went wrong and what I can do to fix this?
The phone is completely dead and not turning on. So that means I can't get into bootloader and recovery.
About Phone:
Unlocked Bootloader
TWRP recovery
Faux Kernel
ENERGY Rom
Any incite on this would be great. Thanks in advance!
Plug it in to the wall charger for 30-45min. Unplug and pull battery again. Put battery back in and you should be good...
Don't be alarmed if the orange led light flashes... It's normal when the phone dies. Be happy you're using twrp and not an old recovery that doesn't have charging while off

Thanks, i actually read those threads before i posted. I think there are more threads about that but i tried all options and none seemed to work. I will try plugging it in the wall and pulling battery out but the battery is at a 100% charge right now (i can confirm from a friends phone). However, if its just a glitch, then i will try the wall charger trick.
Thanks.

Once you get it booted, I recommend 4EXT recovery... But that's just my opinion

Thanks - tried the battery solution but unfortunately it didn't work out for me. Phone just refuses to power up.
Assuming its an official brick.
i have a similar problem, well my battery had charged and running fine for several months, so i unplugged the battery to put my sim on it, and plug it back in when it was booting up it froze on the boot logo, so i took off the battery again so i can reboot it
and ever since it wont come back on, wont either go to the bootloader, so i let it charged all night and nothing happen no led blinking or on, so got my friends amaze's battery to test and it would not do anything at either, right now i am waiting for my replacement, but i hate the fact that this had happen to me
oh wow - well i ordered a replacement as well. I really hope it doesn't come down to a software issue and they don't end up covering the device since it has been rooted.
If the phone is completely dead and non-booting, there's no way for T-Mobile to determine if it's rooted or not. Only until it gets back to HTC to be refurbished could they (HTC) find out but at that point it won't matter to anyone anyhow.
And it couldn't possibly be a software issue. There's something physically defective inside the device that caused it to die.
htc amaze 4g refuse to turn on.
hi all, i'm a newbie here, though i have always loved the XDA. I unlocked my bootloader last night, downloaded and reinstalled my fav apps since i didnt do a backup. while i was downloading the XDA app, my fone freezed and eventually went off. When i tried to get it back on, it got stuck on the white htc screen and later went off after some seconds. It has refused to come on till the time of this post. i really need urgent advice.
I was yet to install a recovery software before the tragedy occurred.

DNA DOWN!

So, this is going to sound real nooby, but I was using my phone this morning, just like normal. Texting, Play All Access, phone calls all that stuff and now all of a sudden, my DNA will not respond to anything. It doesn't seem to charge (the LED doesn't come on), the screen won't turn on, nothing. Just so odd to me that it worked fine. I am rooted, S-ON running Flyhalf's custom CM10.1 ROM. If anyone has any ideas or info I would greatly appreciate it. I've never had a phone just seemingly die...out of the blue.
Edit: LED started to blink, but only blink. Maybe the build just has MASSIVE battery drain and it just needs to recouperate.
First thing is to try to boot it into recovery. And/or plug it into the comp and see if it is recognized.
What build are you using? If you Dont mind me asking.
Sent From My HTC DNA Carbon
Plug it into a wall charger over night. Or 10 to 12 hours either way you want to look at it.
You can pull the back and disconnect the battery momentarily and plug it back in, but I think you'll be fine if you just leave it plugged in. It sounds like the battery calibration or reporting may have been a bit off, also remember the trick to hold down three buttons for thirty seconds or so after it's been charging over night.
The most important thing is don't panic, and if you are stressing over it leave it alone and occupy yourself with something else. Almost real problems I help people solve are caused by them panicking and rushing to get a sign of life out of a device.

[Q] Problems since installing CM7 on HTC Merge

The first time I've allowed my battery to get very low since installing CM7 on my HTC Merge and I'm now having all sorts of problems.
Firstly my screen won't light up. It's just completely black. The phone is on and the 4 buttons at the bottom light up but that's all. The phone is still responding to my touch as I can load apps and hear noises if I happen to touch the correct parts of the screen. It's almost as if the brightness has been turned way down, but I'm unable to see the controls to try turning it up again. I have tried booting to recovery mode but that doesn't display either.
Secondly the battery won't charge. Since the battery is drained I can only get the phone on when it is plugged in, but the orange "charging" led at the top of the phone never lights up. It just casually flashes like it ordinarily would have done when it was running from the battery. I have two batteries and they're both doing this.
I can't be 100% sure that these problems are due to the installation of CM7 but I've never experienced it before so i'm guessing they're connected.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can get my phone working again.
It's also worth mentioning that it is also no longer recognised by my computer
Sounds like a hardware fault, if you have the same issues in recovery as you do in your os then its very unlikely its ROM/software related
I don't your device nor have I taken it apart so its only guesses I could give you on which component needs to be replaced, LCD or flex cable are best guesses
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Want to update on this as I've just had another look at it after a while.
With the battery having completely drained, I connected the phone to charge via my PC and the orange charge light lit up and the phone went into recovery mode without any assistance from me. After about 2 seconds the screen went off again.
When the battery has charged sufficiently, I am once again able to turn the phone on and it boots up... but the screen remains blank.
If I discharge the battery and then plug it into my PC, I am able to repeat the appearance of the recovery screen, but it always vanishes before I am able to do anything.
The screen must be surely be functional or how would I get those 2 seconds of display ?
Does anybody have any ideas of what I can do to get the phone working again?
I acquired a new battery and after fitting it the phone immediately worked again. The battery was completely without charge but the phone charged it up without any problems. However, as soon as the power ran low the same thing happened; the screen has stopped working and the battery doesn't seem to charge anymore.
