[Q] Galaxy i9100p NFC - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, quick question.
I have an s2 and it's rooted running an AKOP ROM. My girlfriend just bought one too, but Orange have sent her the newer i9100p with NFC. There's no official ICS upgrade either! Because it's different, can I still root it and flash say an AKOP ROM, or is that likely to damage it?
Cheers

You can flash any non i9100G variant i9100 ROM/firmware to an i9100P, but you will lose NFC if you do. (though there are allegedly ways to re-enable it out there on P models if you do this... Search for then)

Orange have released I9100PBLVP6 ICS. Find it at Samfirmware.com. Use CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_LP7-v5.4-CWM5 to root.

The M just marks it as a the Bell model. Yes you can. Bell ICS isn't out yet.
Superuser means it is rooted. Dunno if its unlocked or how to.

[Q] International Compatibility

So I asked a question like three days ago and I think I wasn't very clear
I have a Mexican SG3 and I want to try one of the European Jelly Bean Roms that have been out for weeks but I haven't really understood how does the builds and basebands work on this phone, I used to have an epic 4g touch from Sprint and I was used to only have one kind of baseband because it's an us phone only, but with this one I don't know what all the XX(insert random letters here) builds mean cause my phone has a build number of UBBLG2 and I'm afraid that if I install one of the jelly bean roms my data service will be lost...could someone please tell me how does this work

since its the international s3, you have no problem.
If you lose your service flash a compatible modem/radio from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740061

There is only one modem for JB, much more simple than allthe ics stuff. In the pointed thread download XXDLID baseband if you don't already have it.

[Q] Roms for I9300t

Try the S3 toolkit - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488
OP.. Are you trying to root ICS or JB on your i9300t? I just did a quick Google search and there are guides out there to root JB on the S3 i9300t.
Here's just one of the ones I clicked on..

Cf root should work for your phone even on ics. At least that's what I've read but most people recommend flashing a stock jelly bean Rom and then rooting from there.

What problem you have to root?
I got a I9300T and all root options for the I9300 work fine. The only difference is that the T model is said to work better on the 850mhz frequency.
But please correct me if I am wrong.

I think the T model prefers the 850mhz, I'm not entirely sure, but the differences are minimal and any i9300 should work on the t model.
Yes there are roms specifically for I9300t which are really all about the radio.
Check out gharrington's 3minit rom in the Android dev section.

Official JB release for i9100P

I have been waiting very patiently for the official release of JB either via kies or ota. When ICS was released for the i9100 it was around 2 more months before i9100p varients starting being released. One thing that worries me is that all the leaked versions and official seem to be simply for the vanilla i9100 with little to no releases what so ever for the P. Looking on sam mobile this lists no version of JB for this model which makes me thing Samsung have ditched support for it and we will actually not see an official update for this device?
I am confident I could just load the i9100 firmware onto my phone via odin or something if I really wanted but would still prefer something official. So curious does anyone "in the know" actually know?
Im in same situation as yourself. I have an i9100p from orange and also thinking that samsung have ditched the 'p' version. I did try the first leaked jb rom and it works fine but im now back on official ics rom and just hoping I get an official jb rom with nfc

No jb updates for i9100p as yet

I have since noticed a couple of i9100P JB roms in the wild (taken from Sammobile) it's just very weird why there are so few. The annoying thing is I never actually ordered the P variant it was all the o2 were supplying at the time and I didn't know it was a P until I decided to put a custom kernel on.
