[APP] Flipboard for Android - Streak 5 Themes and Apps

Valcho said:
You know how Flipboard was exclusive only to the Galaxy S III? Sure, you can stand in line and wait for the official launch for the Android app, but since we are all buddies here...
It's simple, I just had a Galaxy S III lying around and I extracted the .apk using AirDroid. So, there you go.
Woot! My favorite site has covered me - http://blog.gsmarena.com/flipboard-...gs-cool-news-feeds-to-non-galaxy-s-iii-users/
About the S Voice, I no longer have the phone with me. But I'll try my best to get it again and extract everything you guys have asked for. Stay tuned.

Works fine with Longhorn v2.7 Red rom.

I just don't get it
Thank you for the info about the android version of flipboard. I just don't get why people will choose this sort of software over a solid rss-feedreader.
The only advantage I could find is the eye-candy with that flip effect. But the downside is much more severe:
* works only in portrait, no landscape
* doesn't remember which articles I've read, and which are new to me
* can't import my opml-feedlist, I can't even use my own rss-feeds.
* need an account at their side to 'manage' my sources
* collects some data about my device (even the device-id)
* in german papers the picture and the text often don't match
* need a lot of space in /sdcard/Android
* prioritise articles high that doesn't interest me
It took me half a day to remove google-analytics, flurry, hockey and some other crap-library that counts every click I make in this spyware.
All in all I think this software is just another instagram. Some glorified little value software, only apple-users can be excited about.

Cool thanks
I need to sort out how I am going to show the results (the request/receive should be done tonight) then it's into beta and I'll try to figure out how to make a cab then get it sent out
Flibb from hexus here, count me in
A quick update
The search page is done (I'm going to add a search field after the first release, want to get a working product out first) and I am sorting out the data at processing it currently (when you click on an item it loads a new page with more info on it then you can open in a mobile bowser or go back to the results)
I'm ALMOST there guys, I have got to sort out the xml still and embed a browser in a new window to show more details on a deal... or I will sort out my own way around it
And another teaser screenshot, I have added support for tags (The search function works great right now, does all the filtering correctly.... BUT I am dealing with the returned XML currently)
Unfortunately you can only use 2 words as anything non alphanumeric is converted to '-' or the API wont recognise it but i'm working around it so you can use as many tags as you want (Just fixed this actually)
So I have the returned data to sort then it should be go I am going to add a 3rd screen where you can get more details on an individual deal (and load in an image of the product)
That is on a 240x400 screen so an Omnia should be fine
If anyone has dealt with DataSets and how to organise it in a ListView please let me know, I'm trying to deal with it right now and it's a PITA as I haven't used it before
If you need webspace; PM me

Just finished off v1.0.1, more some incremental changes than anything else. Thanks for the comments from some of the people that have used it
v1.0.1
Changes:
- Fixed installer (app shows up in programs menu as HotUKDeals (with the icon )
- Warning if you get no results instead of loading a blank page
- Slight redesign of results menu (the description at the bottom only shows when you have selected a deal

installed and working a treat on my topaz
Cheers
Apologies for not keeping this more up to date, some good and bad news...
Good:
I just got back from holiday
I have plenty of ideas for things to try out for improving the application
I won the category I entered for the contest it was for
http://www.hotukdeals.com/rest-api/contest
Bad:
Obviously being on hliday means no development work done since last update.
Resuming studies in the next few weeks for my degree so it will be much more of a side project as I work on my dissertation
I have had very little feedback on it To be honest I want as much critical feedback as possible.
I'll be working on my own web hosting to avoid reliance on Rapidshare also (I want figures for dowloads of each version etc and having this project on multiple forums means keeping track can be very difficult!)
Thanks for this handy little app works great for me running 6.1 21054
htc prophet
Works on HTC Touch HD, wvga, standard WWE 6.1 ROM
Really like this app, was looking for a PS3, think I may have found one for a good price
Bump to the update, I am going to have some time, I plan to add
- Option to go direct to the website via the link in the page (I have figured out what it is)
But I'd like to know if anything needs to be fixed, if there are any negative points please tell me as I will have some time next month to fix them (got sick leave for a number of weeks due to an upcoming operation)
Been trying to download from rapidshare, but will not let me do so unless I join up, as "no more free slots available"!
Any alternatives?

Worked fine for me on 1.0.1 and the .netCF cabs if you try it again as a free user
Now working, it appears rapidshare blocks free users when it is busy.
Thankyou.
WinMo 6.5 on HTC Touch HD.
App works great, nice and fast, love it.
Cosmetic suggestions:
On the 1st page, maybe make the menu options more finger friendly?
On the results page, maybe split the backgound a bit, like with lined results, which highlight when selected.
Also when selected maybe add a lond decription and the small image?
Badly formatted rough mock up:
...and make the whole bottom part a URL link to the deal itself, like the "Go To Deal" button.
I'm on HotUkDeals EVERY DAY. I love a bargain me.
That looks like a decent suggestion, I have a lot on (doing some demo work on the 360 ATM as well as some big side projects) so I'll try and make the changes that I can seeing as it should be a fairly minor thing to do
I'll try the first page suggestions, will need to see what I can do from the button side of things

[APP] Shopping List Mobile

Hello guys.
This is my first application for windows mobile. I developed this in a week or so. I used the Windows SDK 6, and I have only tested it on WM6.5 but I assume it will work on WM6.X.
This is a simple application to make lists of what you need to buy. So that way, when you remember to buy something, you put it in the list, and when you need to remember what to buy, you just have to load the list.
Pretty basic stuff.
How to use
It's pretty simple. When you open the application, you’ll have a text box and some buttons. The Add button will add to the list what is written in the text box. The Remove button will remove the selected item from the list. The Clean button will clean the list. Then you have the Save List, Load List, Delete list and About menus. Those are pretty obvious.
How to Install
Run the CAB file from your phone.
Requirements
Windows Mobile 6 ( not tested with previous versions )
.Net Framework Compact 3.5

Note: this is my first ever release for the windows mobile platform. reply with bugs, suggestions, and criticism is greatly accepted, as long as it's to make my software better.
Thank you.
Not bad for a first app, but if you cold make items little bit biger(more finger frinedly) and little bit nicer graphics
Thanks Yes I know... graphics are not my thing either... I might ask for help from a friend thank you for testing
I was looking for something like this but (and i know this may be past you) I would love to be able to have the ability to share with other devices or pc's so say my wife who is at home can make the list on the pc and send it to my device (could be built in transfer or email somthing liek that) and then i can do the shopping.
that would be fantastic
it is a good start though
cheers

If you want something more sophisticated and with lots of options, like stores, categories, per item prices etc etc, try HandyShopper (free), it is my choice shopping app since years.
Well, as this is the first release its normal everything else might be better...
Thanks for your suggestions
best of luck, though there are alot of competing products out there.
Personally, I use GrocerySort from slimcode
Good App
I usually just use notes for shopping lists, this is a nice little improvment. Faster response than some of the fancy graphics shopping list apps I have used and when shopping basic and easy to use is all I want. Have had no probelms with it so far, the only feature request would be to be able to tick off or strikethrough an item so when in the store I can mark off as I go what I have and havent got.
A good first app, keep it up.
Snowdan.

Thanks.. I appreciate that... the Remove button should delete the selected item in the list. I would like to make a checkbox next to the item but its not available in WinMobile SDK... so, waiting for new release from Microsoft.
Thank you for using
Hopefully I can make it better and better.

Great application. It's always inspiring to see a new avid developer in the community. I have no requests because this is your first release. I only wish you good luck and say try to remain motivated.
Thanks I will
There's a new version... be sure to check it out
Hello people. Just to let you know that there are been some changes here on my software. Now there are some check boxes.
Download is on first post. I've updated it.
Thanks.
Looks great, I gave it a try, but was sadden that hardware key support wasn't included.
never really thought about it I'll add on next release
thanks
Great app! Thank you.
Nice easy ad small ... need other ?
.. well maybe there a couple of function that you can evaluate to include in future realese:
1) Autoload a default shopping list.
2) hide/unhide marked item from the list
I downloaded the 1.23 today, I'll test the next time I'll got to shop.
Hello,
I have a suggestion for a feature.
In order to always know how much you will have to pay at the end, you could add a column with allow entering the item cost, frequent buyer card discount, promotions...
This allow to show the grand total.
Fil
Just tried your app, and really like it. I do, however, have some suggestions which I think would make this a killer app, while still keeping it small and simple.
1. Ability to edit items
2. Ability to filter completed items
3. Delete items either individually or several at a time
4. Change the order of items
Good work, and thanks for sharing.
Some suggestions:
1.Have to be two modes - making list and shopping. Making list mode we are almost already have. Just no need to delete last time marked items and next time typing them again - it is possible to check-uncheck and if it wasn't before so add something new.
In shopping mode necessarily full screen without any buttons, fields ets. only list with check boxes.
2.Check box must be at the right side
3.Checked items - crossed out and moved to the end of the list

Official 3.0.4 77 Being pushed OTA

HP is officially pushing 3.0.4 77 OTA. Downloading now (53 MB)...
Installing now. Up to install reboot. I'll be curious to see how many of my tweaks are removed.
Done: So far, even without any overclocking, it's tons faster (snappier maybe if a better word.) The camera apps is nice (snapshots or video.)
Still looking for other improvements.

UPDATE :
Official Changelog from HP :
webOS 3.0.4
HP webOS 3.0.4 makes TouchPad snappier, includes a new camera app, makes it easier to find great TouchPad apps in the App Catalog, and a number of other improvements.
Core applications
Camera
* New front-facing photo and video camera app. Browser
* Larger tap targets for easier tapping.
* Increased support for Flash & Flash plug-ins, including recognizing accelerometer events.
App Catalog
* Added ability to view only TouchPad, Phone, or All applications in App Catalog.
* Launching and viewing App Catalog contents are quicker.
* Improvements of the user interface include app icon appearance, responsive tap targets, and formatting of the app description.
Music
* You can add songs to a playlist from Album view.
* OGG Vorbis and FLAC media files are supported.
Messaging
* Setting status (online/offline) per account is now supported. For example, you can be offline on your work account and online on your personal account.
* You can set your status to invisible on Yahoo! Messenger.
Phone
* You can now pair a phone that is not a webOS phone to the TouchPad, so you can answer calls on the TouchPad.
NOTE: Most devices cannot send or receive SMS (text messages) from the TouchPad. The SMS Mirroring functionality needed to send and receive SMS from the TouchPad requires the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) to be supported by the phone.
Email
* Performance of the Microsoft Exchange Global Address List (GAL) when composing a new email or using Just Type has been improved.
* Added support for the Microsoft Exchange Autodiscover service to assist in setting up Microsoft Exchange accounts without having to enter server configuration information.
Additional bug fixes in Maps, Contacts, Calendar, and App Catalog.
webOS System
Keyboard
* Bluetooth keyboard pairing with generic keyboards has been simplified and now includes an automatically generated pairing code and instructions on how to pair.
* System load balancing: webOS maintains a higher level of overall usability when the system is downloading a large amount of data (for example, during a restore) or is installing apps.
Security
This release addresses a number of security issues with HP webOS software.
Individuals interested in contacting HP to report suspected security issues can find more information at hpwebos.com/security.

* Improved SDL performance in rotated screen mode.
* Fixed several bugs affecting third-party Synergy applications.
* Enyo Framework
* Fixed problem with DatePicker controls’ returning incorrect date.
* When filling out a form, if the user tabs to a form element behind the keyboard, the scene now scrolls to keep the focused field visible above the keyboard.
* Corrected positioning of selection box displayed in response to a tap and hold on a word.
* RowGroup.destroyControls() is now working properly.
* Fixed issue in which an HtmlContent control inside a Scroller would not prevent links from being followed while scrolling.
* Enyo Applications
Browser
* The Browser app now hides the keyboard when the Bookmark pane is shown.
* Fixed an issue in which touch events were not passed correctly to Web sites.
Contacts
* Contacts synced via a third-party Synergy app can now be deleted after the app itself is deleted.
Location Services
* Google Location Services now work for locations in the Southern Hemisphere.
Tools and Installers
* The PalmSDK folder has been reorganized to make docs and samples easier to find.
* palm-emulator no longer displays an error dialog when launching with VirtualBox 4.1.2.
* palm-generate now generates Enyo apps (Mac and Linux only in this build). Note that in generated Enyo apps, the (full) path to enyo.js will need to be specified in index.html in order for the app to load in a desktop browser. For example, on the Mac, this would be “/opt/PalmSDK/Current/share/framework/enyo/1.0/framework/enyo.js”.
Code Samples
The following new code samples have been added:
* Accelerometer – Demonstrates getting accelerometer, shaking, and orientation events.
* InputSample – Integrated the existing multitouch sample.
* Media – Added new Video Object demo, which demonstrates use of an HTML5 video object to play video inline with custom controls and sizing control.
* MediaCapture – Demonstrates the new media capture APIs for sound, video, and images.
* Services – Added Media Indexer sample.
* WebView – Added example of intercepting link clicks and redirecting.
* ZeroConf – Demonstrates the ZeroConf system service. ZeroConf is a discovery protocol that lets you find services on the local network without having to have a directory or DNS listing.
ExhibitionMode
* Fixed bug in which the app, after being launched in Exhibition Mode, could not be relaunched in app mode.
JustType
* Fixed db8 schema version issue.
* Known Issues and Limitations
* SDL apps may hang due to problems with polling new sensors.
* SDL apps may crash when blitting to or from a NULL surface. The underlying issue has been identified and will be fixed in the next SDK release.

Confirmed, but after copying Moboot_0.3.3.zip in a "cminstall" folder at the root of the TP, you just have to reinstall Moboot with the ACMEinstaller to boot again CM7.
Would I be able to reinstall the 1.7GHz overclock if I update to 3.0.4? As snappy as it may be I doubt it is a full replacement for having 1.7GHz of power
okay, just a quick update, everything still works fine except private browsing for some reason, but other then that, i'm just waiting to over clock this bad boy again, *sigh* this is the best $150 i ever spent

You should watch the video posted a while ago. 1.7 over lock and 3.0.4 performed the same side by side.
I don't have a link sorry.
Sent from my SGH-i917 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Yeah, it appears the patches are all gone but none were critical for me. The overclocking will be nice if it improves anything but I have suspected they underclocked it due to some timing issues. I would see random instances where it would sort of freeze up with the OC. I want to play with it without Uberkenral for a bit.
As for CM7, I am holding off until the first release candidate comes out. I don't gain much going to CM7 until it's more stable and I frankly prefer WebOs to Android. I can run my Android stuff on my NC for now while they get the power, wifi and SD card stuff sorted out. It's still certainly a great alpha release.
NICE! Don't care about CM7 really, I would actually rather delete it at this point until it's stable.. the kernels thing kinda bugs me though.
Anyone get the new kernels working yet?

Awesome work!
Going to install & test this tonight after I scrape all the dust off it
Edit: Installed, everything has gone perfect so far!
Restoring my apps currently so will test some apps, games and Kodi. Hopefully all goes according to plan.
Many many thanks mate
Edit 2: Only real problem I've run into is not being able to scale the screen size. I've got a 1920x1080 TV but I always have to scale back for all my Android Set Top boxes. Got something I will try & will report back if it works.
Ok It's not perfect but I got an app called Screen Resolution that I managed to sort of scale back with. I managed to get the width set nicely but the height is still cut off (cant quite see status bar) not a real big deal now though as the width is what was really killing me.
Latest Kodi nightly works beautiful, havent tried passthrough audio yet.
Games, GTA San Andreas works, lots of kids games I have work great.
Retroarch emulator works great with shaders as well (big + for me )
I'll now leave it on overnight playing movies to see if there are any crashes/lockups. I dont anticipate anything bad though.
Feels real smooth!
Apart from my screen scaling gripe this is really a great firmware and for my uses it craps all over Mad Catz's lame efforts

Great to hear some additional feedback the default output is 1920x1080 so I too have the same issue , but I was able to set my tv's hdmi aspect ratio to full 100% doesn't seem to effect any of my other devices.
is this 1 version stable ? any bugs ?

Yes, minus the unsupported ui elements such as the brightness settings and battery icon. The next update today will address some of those things.
Great job.. Thank you very much.
But i have 2 questions.
1- how many dpi you use? The original firmware is 320 dpi. I think fonts are very small.
2- is possible return to original firmware?
Edit: Another question.
3- can it write in NTFS external hard disk?
oo nice can you make a custom kernel 2 with 2.0 GHz oc ?
Thanks for all your work on this! I was hoping someone would pick this up as Mad Catz seriously dropped the ball on this.
I will follow your install instructions and see if I can get it going and will follow up with the results, hopefully tonight or over the weekend.
If this works I am sure you made a whole lot of people happy!

Not yet haven't added support I was rushing to get this out. Actually 320 does not work stock for me used 160 dpi and that's what the devices binaries automatically set I've changed it to 213 tv dpi and removed nav bar will see in next update. Yes , you can make a full backup in twrp which you will be able to restore.

My TV unfortunately doesn't have that option. Suppose that's what I get for getting a $1400 Hitachi 3D TV lol
Hopefully some of the better display/resolution apps update to be compatible with lollipop and all will be solved
No lockups overnight with different movies playing, different resolutions etc So happy with this to become a fulltime FW as it is now for me

Does it have any hdmi settings at all? I would play around with those it may have a different naming for it. So far all of the TV I have used have this setting but it was named differently some had it under options with zoom.
Many thanks for trying to 'save' the MOJO
I've tried this ROM, works ok albeit it's a mobile/tablet ROM but I guess it's fine for now.
The ultimate goal would be to have Android TV running on the MOJO with the following 'Android TV' specific apps working:
Android TV Launcher : play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.leanbacklauncher
YouTube for Android TV : play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.youtube.tv
Google Cast Receiver : play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.mediashell
eventually: the remote server for play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tv.remote (that the client we install in phone/tablet, the server code is unlisted afaik)

Mine does have zoom, I'll have a bit more of a play with it but it hasn't helped with other boxes in the past.
It's not too bad at the moment, I can scale the screen within Kodi so that takes care of movies etc. Just a few games and apps.
They're all apps I know like the back of my hand so I know where to click if it's chopped off anyway
When do you plan to releaseing your Android TV port?

Looking for PDF reader with particular features

Hello all. This isn't a question about the "best" PDF reader as that is a dead horse which has been beaten over and over again. I'm looking for a PDF reader with specific features. Here is what I need:
* Annotation: highlight, underline, text box, arrows (and ability to change colors of all of these)
* Bookmarks: view previously made, plus add new
* Cloud: open directly from Dropbox and save directly to it without needing to download the PDF, then save it and upload it again
* Dictionary: optional, but would be nice (I read a lot in foreign languages)
* Office suite: completely optional, but it would be nice to be able to edit doc/xls files without needing a separate app
Here is what I have tried so far and why I don't like them:
* PDF Max: have to download from Dropbox to the device, then navigate the upload menu to re-save
* ezPDF: has all the features I need, but crashes often when using PDFs from Dropbox
* OfficeSuite Pro: no bookmark support
* Foxit MobilePDF: see PDF Max above
* Adobe Acrobat: no Dropbox support
I'm getting tired of installing a bunch of apps. then uninstalling them all because they don't fit my needs so perhaps someone out there has some input they can share. Thank you in advance.
I searched for exactly same thing, none that I could find. Watching the thread.
Current set up includes FolderSync to sync the files, and use Adobe Reader for reading and annotations.

Shortly after I posted this, I found Xodo PDF Reader and I must say, I'm awfully impressed so far. It has all the features I need except for the office suite and is surprisingly robust for a free app with no in-app purchases. That's right, you get every feature right out of the gate. Maybe this is what you need, too?
