[Temporary solution] CRT for ICS - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Until the devs get the CRT animation for ICS sorted you can use this app
Screen off and lock
The donate version has loads of different screen off animaions including "Old style tv"...
Also, you can put an application shortcut onto your homescreen, so I suppose its a bit like an on screen button mod for your power button as well.....(Not quite, but close enough)
Check this you tube video
Hope this helps untill we get a native solution
Confirmed working on my stock ICS with modified stock kernel.
EDIT:
This may help the devs get a bit closer to a permanant fix
http://communities-origin.sonyericsson.com/message/169101
I tried this, I didnt get a bootloop, but I also did not get the crt screen off animation...maybe I just missed something.

good find. Thanks...

[Q] Running SC3 V0.5 But need some help

Since I'm not allowed to post on the SuperClean3 V0.5 cuz I don't have enough posts, I guess I have to make a post asking the question, specifically to nitsuj17.
On page 79 of SuperClean3 thread there's a new touchwiz4 patch but I can't seem to figure out where the link to download that patch is?? Can someone hook me up with that download link?
I flashed a KGB kernel in hopes that I would be able to mod my bootanimations and shutdown animations and get sound for both. I was able to get part of my bootani to work but only after the stupid smiley face splash screen shows for few min. Where can I download the latest best kernel in order to make the smiley disappear and my bootani/shutdownani with sound work??
I did search google and found so much random info that I have no idea what is the latest and what's outdated and some stuff doesn't work. I'm hoping someone can help me out

I think this ROM is amazing. So amazing that I don't mind the smiley face. I welcome the smiley face. Before this ROM I was a flash junkie, changing ROMs every week. Since this ROM came out, I haven't changed it.
Anyway, if you really want to change the bootani, these worked for me:

The latest version of the KGB kernel KGB 12/12/2011 got rid of the smiley face.
SuperClean plus KGB is a pretty awesome combo. I like to add OMFGB-Launcher and Rom Toolbox. That's about everything I need to make the phone fly. Rom Toolbox is handy for changing boot animations, too (among the dozen other things it does).

Thanks for this!
If you need help with testing the rom then send me a message whenever, my G5 is just collecting dust so I might as well get some use out of it, I honestly don't care if it breaks as the warranty has ran out anyway.

Tested
I didn't read the part about the exploding phone correctly or i would never have done it!
Startup was just the screen flashing bright yellow rapidly for about 30 seconds and then going dark. If you touched the screen or buttons then the display would activate and you can see it for a moment. I managed to get through the setup wizard to the main screen, the app drawer and access the rom manager app. Then rebooted into recovery from the home screen and restored my phone to cm7 1.9.
Amazing that i (on some level) had ics running on my phone Well done guys!
cmw was different too, it had a ***go back*** option at the bottom of each additional screen.
Exactly same here.
It have the *go back* button cuz is a cwm 5.2.7 based.
You must follow the guide correctly.

It works but is no more usable than previous version of alpha.
We do all appreciate the hard work though hyztname so keep at it
What i want is to play with some new features and show off to my friends but i suppose that's what beta is for
Too impatient.

Mini Pro - No vibration, why?

Hey,
already saw some threads about this, but nothing helped yet. I didn't test it whith the original rom, but with CM7 (RC or nightly doesn't matter) I don't have any vibration on the phone.
Any ideas?
// Edit: the vibration module, or however the name of it is, can't be broken, because it's still working when starting the device.

What do you mean, it is not working? Explain more, what and how you tested etc, else we cannot help.
With not working I mean, that is is actually not working!
I enabled every option (regarding vibration) on every place and every tested rom. Nothing. No vibration while in Android.
Already reflashed different CM7 versions, everytime with full wipe.

On stock ROM, go to service menu(*#*#7378423#*#* on phone pad), Service Tests and test the Vibration. Does it work?
Do you have any links for the stock files? Backup seems to be broken. It's stuck at the SE logo...

Link to my tutorial in my signature, there are links for stock firmware.
Directly in front of my eyes ... I'll test your tutorial tomorrow. Thanks for this. Status will be posted here.
Great it's working with the stock rom. Thank you!
I'll contact the CyanogenMod maintainers. Maybe they'll fix this soon. Otherwise I wait until June for the 4.x release.
When you are in the Cyanogen Mod,did you tick the haptic feedback? That is the true vibrate word...

I thought, haptic feedback only applies while touching the screen. An yeah, it was activated too.

[GUIDE] How to get fully camera with deep sleep and 3rd party apps working on ICS ROM

Press THANKS button if this guide helps you.
Since we know that CM9 RC2 is too buggy, we are forced to use RC1 instead, until its fixed by Wayland.
This is just for you guys stop once for all asking about etas and other stuff anoying.
Please, after read this, dont make any question about camera, kernel updates or deep sleep.
Follow this and get the RC1 ROM from Maclaw working with 100% camera from RC2, but without its bugs like GPS and Bluetooth not working, SDEXT not recognized etc...
BEFORE you start flashing this, make sure you have enough space on system/app, because libs and camera app from RC2 are bigger than RC1's. Delete some ringtones you dont use or some apps. The same for kernel, the dev says about 4~5 MB free space, i recommend about 7MB, for kernel and camera app. (delete the CMWallpapers apk, it has 7,04MB, and im sure you dont use it)
1st, download Maclaw's CM9 RC1 ROM
DOWNLOAD
If you already have it, skip this step, if you dont, make a full wipe then flash it. Reboot your phone.
2nd, download Nims Kernel 2.1 with Camera app and libs fully fixed from RC2
DOWNLOAD
You don't need to mount this, just flash it. After flash, reboot your phone. If everything was right, the screen "Updating/Starting Apps" should appear. When the system starts, test the Camera app, it should start normally, if you get some FC screen, or "Cannot conect the camera" message, try to re-open the app. This message will appear sometimes, even in 3rd party apps, like Instagram, but is just you re-open it.
3rd, download the lastest Nims Kernel available
DOWNLOAD version 2.2.1 for ICS ROM
This ZIPs files are from this thread, i just put them together for make it easier for you guys.
I'm not responsable if it bricks your phone.
For me and a lot of people it works.
this was what I needed, now I'll change to ics again and finally I definitely thank you very much

If you follow this guide exactly as you put it, you will end in a bootloop just like me.Explain better
Very good work
Well just tried all the steps above but sadly it isn't working .
After I flashed nim's 2.1 kernel the phone boot into system upgrading screen and stuck there , I did a restart and the phone got stuck on a boot loop.
Flashing nim's 2.2 kernel after that didn't helped either ..
Please explain the procedure in more details.
Thanks Devs!

You might do something wrong...
you dont need to mount system for flashing this zips....
Try to make a full wipe and flash RC1 again, reboot as normal. After that flash cam app and libs with nims kernel 2.1. Reboot again.
Then flash Nims kernel 2.2
Just for guarantee, after you wipe install RC1, delete somethings you dont use in system/app, because cam app is biggest than RC1's.
Some screens of this working properly
Nice tips, thanks. Can I ask you a question??? Does this ROM drains battery much??? The last time I use it, it drains like hell. I need to know if it still drains battery so I can apply your tips
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
Well got this thing working , Thanks @jmendes.
Edit : After using this ROM for a while I found out that deep sleep isn't working .. ( google location was off )
For me deep sleep works until i take some 5 pics... after that the camera stops and i need to re-open it. Then deep sleep sucks as well :c

ROM stays unchanged. If you had use RC1 when it was out, it keeps the same way. Obviously, battery will drain faster than CM7, but it just need some adjustments by the devs, hope itll fixed in Wayland's release
It might even "work" (not sure if the need for closing and re-opening the camera app several times means fully working...) but I doubt the quality of the pictures will be as good as in a GB based ROM.
For me or anyone who uses the camera sometimes and don't want crappy quality pictures, any ICS or JB ROM shouldn't be considered for now. In fact, without OpenMax drivers I guess we'll never see camera working properly on Galaxy Ace running ICS and JB

Jesus Christ! Fully working for our situation means a app who opens and take a photo with auto focus, flash working properly, with all configurations available with a gallery without bugs AND apps 3rd party accessing camera drivers! It's known that it has a lot of bugs, but its better than an app that just take pictures and break deep sleep resource. Everybody knows that OpenMax drivers wont be release for us, and a camcoder wont be available either, bbut they are really working hard to give us a decent camera. The quality is the same on GB. As you said, "shouldnt be considered for now" so dont use it. If you think it's not worth it, stay with your 2.3 version.

Hmm, you said that flash is working properly ... is the LED working for flashlight apps as well in this ROM ? Last time I tested CM9, it wasn't working and flashlight is very very useful, can't live without it. If yes, I'll try it.
By "camera working properly" I meant taking photos with good quality, and auto-focus and flash both working. That is enough. I did'nt say "fully working".

Go until Wayland's CM9 topic and you will see that for this he will need to put a modified app for flashlight working. But still works.
And yes, the quality keeps as in GB. With auto focus, flash and cam modes working rightly

[Patch] XDM (GB) Circle button Fix

well to get straight to the point here's a quick patch for those that are having issues with the circle button acting as back button. This patch is also known as the ALT Modifier fix. Also added, the R button should be to take a picture ONLY when in camera mode! it will NOT call the camera app.
I think this patch may be already out their I think for ICS this one is for GB. I have only tested this on Stock based & turbo miui GE ROMS but i think it should work on CM based as well (if someone can confirm that will be nice) download the flashable ZIP file in the attachments. I also maid my installer look a little better
great work.:good:

it might work on ics+ but im not entirely sure, that would depend on how much code has been changed and also i dont think this zip is KK flashable. I also dont have a play anymore to test it, unfortunately all i can say is make sure to do ful backup and try flashing it.
