Upgrade 2 Weeks Earlier - Confirmed - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I have called Sprint multiple times in the past few weeks and days to ask when I can upgrade.
This applies to everyone.
This especially applies to anyone who bought the Epic 4G the very first day it came out. I did and my upgrade got set to June 1st rather than the original date of September. September would have been two years since the Epic came out, but Sprint is nice and has moved the upgrade up. Yours should have too. I did nothing special to get it like that.
Anyways....
If you call Sprint you can get your upgrade pushed forward up to a maximum of two weeks.
Users that can upgrade on June 1st, can actually upgrade two weeks earlier, May 18. Which just so happens to be the day the EVO LTE gets released.
You must call Sprint the 14th day before your upgrade and say you want this applied to your account. Then you can walk in any store and upgrade/renew your contract.
Best thing is, it's free.

Like everything else you may need to speak to a few different reps. I called this am and the first rep told me Sprint would only move it if i went to a Sprint corp store and they verified there was an issue with my current handset that i wanted to perform the upgrade on. I asked when did this start and the rep said it has been that way since he has worked for Sprint. I hung up and called back, spoke to a new rep that told me on Friday the 18th he would submit the request and i would be all set. So it will be moved from 6/1 till 5/18. You just have to get an informed rep with Sprint.

Do it while you can. Rumor is they are stopping that option next month,

Never knew this offer existed. Seems sprint had always adjusted my account within a few days for each of there summer launches. guess I'll call in tomorrow just incase.

How much money do they really lose by letting customer's upgrade 10 days early?
They should focus their energy on real money making strategies instead of pissing off their customers. The board should force dumb ass Dan Hesse to resign for signing that iPhone deal that's costing them so much money.

Fail customer wervice

Recently called into sprint to get an airave, apparently i was in a great coverage area but only had 2 bars and alot of dropped calls on my evo 3d, so they agreed to give me an airave for free, so they were on back order and i moved between the time i called and recieved it, i used to live out in the country now i live in a small town and apparently i have the best service here too (lol), service here still wasnt the best so i decided to try out the airave called in got it hooked up, set it up beside a window and waited the hours for it to be provisioned, the guy said hed call back the next day to make sure it activated rofl yeah right, never a phone call and i had to call back in, turns out the damn airave cant get a gps signal and wont work, and im in a great coverage zone right? Next off is my bill, i changed from the 69.99 plan to a 1500 family plan that was 130 a month got the next bill and it was 266$$ whoa wtf!!!! Called in multiple times one rep said theyd credit me 213$$ the next 60$$ and the next $120 but guess what??? Not a ****ing thing was credited and once again i called in about it only to be told id be called back about it and the guy was suppose to call me back yesterday, if this aint horrible customer service i dont know what is, lets just say next time i call im going to be a complete beligerent asshole!!! So im now stuck with a non working airave, much wasted time, and a 266$ bill, sprint can kiss my ****ing ass!!

Pre-Order may not ship after the 18th

Just got off the phone with sprint and there now telling me that they had an issue with HTC and the pre-order phones may ship tell the 18th. She said as of right now they did not have any in the warehouse.
Oh no!!!!!!!!!! (panic) why oh why now what will we all do... (speculate) im sure this sprint rep is sitting outside the warehouse counting units..... Troll

nope not troll. The rep i had was a supervisor. i work out of town as a paramedic and i'm gone two weeks at a time. i spent 45min on the phone with them because they were trying to see if they could just ship it to me at work. but when she called the warehouse to find out that when she told me about the issue with HTC.
they aren't gonna release nationally and not ship pre-orders first, i'm not worried... once again the initial shipping date was the 15th before they chamged the words up

well i'm trying to start a fight just posting what they told me.
Sprint didn't just receive all the evos 2 days before they're to ship, cmon, I'm not even saying this dummy on the phone didn't tell you that story. I have never gotten any real info from a sprint rep... They have about as much inside info as me. I know anyone on this forum knows more about these phones than them. They work off of scripts.... She probably just didn't want to help you, what a surprise, I'm sure no ine else has called this week to change an order...... Relax it will be there Wednesday worst case Thursday

i think you forgot to add the *NOT in there, all I'm saying is history shown that sprint reps or almost any other reps are clueless to what really going on, I was just in a sprint chat with a rep 2 days ago and he initially told me that there hasn't been a release date announced for the LTE yet... so I had to link him to the sprint press release, they know nothing most times, we most times know more than them. so i trust that we'll get it before the 18th

I agree^^^^^ Sprint reps know nothing. I always know more about their phones and specs than they do. Its pretty sad but true. So I dont trust what they got say 100% of the time.
I am sure the stores have them on the shelf now they just can't sell them to the 18th.

What are y'alls thoughts overall?

I am definitely an HTC fan, and will likely remain that way even after this is over, but, this whole situation has got me reevaluating the phone and whether or not I would rather just hold off for the Galaxy S3 and switch to another carrier with a working LTE. I just read another article on Sprint stating as of June 1st they will be cancelling their early upgrade program (the one that allows you to upgrade 14 days early). This is the program that I planned on using come Friday morning, and this just marks another feature that has been dropped by the carrier in the past year to cover their iPhone venture.
Don't get me wrong, I love Sprint, and have been a loyal customer with them for over 8 years now. However, I'm thinking that it's going to likely take Sprint another two years to get LTE setup completely enough for them to actually compete with the big two, and by that time a new contract with either carrier will be up and I can just jump back on with Sprint when the dust has settled. Looking at both AT&T and Verizon plans, I can set myself up with plans that will cover most of my needs, and run me about 10$ - 20$ more than what I'm paying for now a month with my discounts. Over a two year period, this will only cost me $480 more than if I stayed with Sprint.

You're pretty much unaffected by that then.
Honestly, do what you think is best for you & research the service options in your area.
Keep this in mind:
AT&T's LTE is barley out there so VZW is the only real LTE you can go to bat with.
Overages, if you avg over 2GB in data. Expect to either pay more on a higher data pkg or see overage warning.

I agree Verizon would be that way to go if they didn't have 2GB cap at least 4-5GB would be manageable but it is really expensive that's why I moved from sprint back then I was paying 175$ for 2 lines when I moved to sprint I was paying 129$ for two lines but 3G was better now is getting worse :'( but I they att and since it was faster I was using up to 5 GB paying 20$ extra which it was 110$ for one line this networks got us really good in the US they know if they service is better they can charged wtv they want. I as getting from 3-8mbps on my iPhone on att tho now I cant even hit 1mbps on sprint where before 1-2mbps was easy and that's all I needed for YouTube

So, just upgraded my phone... Due for my next upgrade 06/01/2013?

Well, I did have Sprint Premier Gold, and I thought they did away with the 1-year upgrade at the 2-year price. But I'm also on SERO-P... Maybe an incentive for SERO-P?
Has anyone else checked their upgrade date since they purchased their EVO 4G LTE?

Just checked my upgrade eligibility. 5/01/2013. Weird. I thought the one year premier upgrade was gone. Had my line almost 12 years. Other than the credit union discount, nothing else special. Hope it stays this way.
I've got the text message that was sent to me from them saying it. I'll hold onto it until next year when I go to upgrade, LOL.

For people who don't know the different ways to check...you can view all of your account's lines upgrade eligibility through the Sprint Zone app (at least on the new one that came with the Evo LTE), you can login to your account on the sprint website, or you can text the word UPGRADE to 1311 from your phone.

mine is 1/1/14, been with sprint for over 10 years.
Anything I text to 1311 comes back as texting to an invalid #.
I did use the website to check and also have the 5/1/2013. I was (am?) premier gold. When I log into my account, it still shows gold too. Wonder if that will fall off at the end of this year. I do get an emp discount, so maybe that has something to do with it too.

instore preorder process sucks

I really hate that verizon told me that they were shipping my phone to me via fed ex even though I went into the store to preorder. I now have to wait for fed ex to drop it off so I am on their time until it arrives. why have a store that just makes me order it the same way I can do it myself. I would much rather have the phone in my hands at 8am when they open on wednesday morning not 2pm when the fed ex driver gets done eating lunch.
other things that irritated me about the preorder experience.
1. they dont accept Cash
2. they tried to make me sign the ipad for my receipt... I made them print me one and give me a pen (just to be a prick more than anything)
3. $30 upgrade fee? wtf is that... once I get the phone I'm going to call and get that removed since its a bogus charge for a 13year VZW customer... you dont even need to call and activate anymore all I need to do is swap my sim from my nexus and put it in the DNA so I'll ask them what the $30 covers cause its not VZW store employees who are accepting my order and helping me "activate" or set up my phone which they shipped to my house.
did anyone else preorder instore? or did everyone else order online?
I'm not sure why you would pre-order today as you won't get it for 2 days, if you wanted to pick it up at 8AM in store why didn't you just wait until tomorrow and go in and get it? I never heard of anyone pre-ordering in store.
Also, Verizon has been charging the $30 upgrade fee for a while now, but only if you buy it subsidized.
I preordered last week on Wednesday... I always do it in store cause I always upgrade a different line than my data line... Call me old fashioned but every once in a while I like to interact with other people and not a computer.

My tracking just updated... I might get it today if it comes before work... No one knows about this phone other than people who follow android so I doubt you will have a problem walking in and getting it.

I'm the same way, I always go to the store to order new phones and accessories.
My question though was why you drove to the store to pre-order it when you could have just driven there tomorrow morning instead and know that you can just pick it up then and there.
