HTC Rezound to Razr Maxx - HTC Rezound

Loved my first Rezound, until it started overheating 131F. Verizon replaced it.
Loved my second Rezound, until first YouTube stopped working completely then the internet stopped working intermittently. It only worked when it wanted to.
My 3rd Rezound was defective right out of the box. Would not read a SIM card at all.
Strike 3,... and now I have a Razr Maxx. I miss the true 720p display the Rezound had,...but that's it. The Razr Maxx other than the less than perfect display has run flawless in all areas.... Except one.....
..... I think the Rezounds Adreno 220 is a faster smother GPU than the Razr's PowerVR SGX540 GPU, in most games. I've only found one game where the Razr way our performs the Rezound and thats Modern Combat 3, which is almost like playing a PC game its so smooth. On my Rezound it was laggy.
Oh well I'm enjoying the Razr but I still feel a little torn because I've been an HTC fan for years.

The battery is the only thing I'd want.

buy an extra battery for 25 and problem solved

HTC cameras still beat the rest. Samsung is decent, and Motorola has been the worst for quite some time. It's a shame really, since Moto is the only one still trying to keep a good hardware keyboard phone in their lineup. I hope they get that sorted out with some decent sensors in the next generation.

Great enjoy your Maxx. I'm jealous of that battery though.

i tinkered with one of those razr's before. i don't know how you can tolerate the screen... the weird fuzziness around text/icons really bothered my eyes.

just looking at that screen makes me want to punch a baby, especially after using the rezound.

I have rezound and razr. And I still prefer the rezound. Because the diaplay, sense, camera and fast /smoth UI
The only thing in rezoind its because it is soo heavy

Well, people do s-off and think they bricked their phone. I say "Wasn't it a brick before?"

I really wanted to droid 4 to be nice, because I love a hardware keyboard, but it is just dreadful. I can't wait for Verizon to pick up some more Windows phones. I love WP7. That's the only thing I'm jealous of at$t users.

Yep, the motorola Amoled screens with pentile suck!!!

yeah, crappy screen and its wider than a thunderbolt. Its uncomfortable to hold. Do like the stock battery in that sucker though.

It's not even a stock battery though, it's just a Razr with an extended battery since they can't change batteries, which i think is pretty ****ed up for old razr users

I agree. WP7 is really nice. Can't wait for more selection on Verizon too.

I think this year there won't be any big big changes in phones, mostly 720p, dual core, and 1080p camera will become a very standard feature... Hmmm what's next, quad core, ahhh I really don't see the hype for it, give me dual core at over 2ghz and **** load of ram, and maybe a graphics card !!!!!

You get no argument out of me.
The Rezound has a far superior display and GPU.
But now that the honeymoon is over as far as functionality is concerned the Razr works better. Swype is way more advanced than HTC's.. I'm using it all the time now.... Even right now.
As soon as they make a new HTC that's thin and light weight with a stock 3300 mAh battery with Gorilla Glass. That doesn't have the problems. I'm back on board.
Had a long conversation with HTC yesterday and they are currently working on a patch for the Internet connectivity problems on the Rezound. Verizon tech support told me they have had several come back worth this very issue. HTC is hoping ICS will help.
I love HTC phones I just had a bad experience with my Rezounds.
I hope all of you have an awesome day.

Connectivity issues????? My Rezound has the strongest signal along with the latest radios and fastest LTE out of all Verizon phones I have owned. I have had them all.

My mom has a razr. She uses the car dock when driving.
The car dock icons are burned into the screen.
I lol at her crappy phone....

My Son bought a razor maxx this morning, he wanted the big battery and doesn't really care what the screen looks like.
I was playing with and kinda liking it until I brought up a high def video that we both have on our cards. OMG, that videos looks stunningly bad on the razor and looks like a high def tv on my Rezound .............

Buying advice for Droid X2

Hi all,
I currently use an iPhone 3G but am looking to buy a CDMA phone to use on page plus. My options are: DX for ~ $150, DX2 for $200, or maybe even Evo 4G for around $160. I'd appreciate any advice regarding which is the best route to go with. Thanks

D'you think that the Evo's unlocked bootloader trumps the dual core on the DX2? Because the initial overlay in terms of cash isnt that big a deal as its not much different
I'd get the X2, It's pretty fast on a custom rom like eclipse.

Pretty much. Cm7 and omfgb on my tbolt were a lot more stable and responsive than the dx2 on any rom. Dual core doesn't mean twice the fun.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'd been leaning towards the X2 because of the processor and the qHD screen, but it seems the majority of you think that the Evo is the way to go. My only other concern would be the battery life I guess
Get evo.
Battery life is a valid concern. I'm on Evo forum EVERY DAY, and I see lots of people claim 24+ hrs battery life. I don't get anywhere near that. I suppose it just comes down to tuning. There is tons of dev support in the Evo forums. Still, after more than a year. There's tons of rom and kernels to choose from.
Evo devs are dropping new ports at an amazing rate. Hell, we're running roms that haven't even been publicly released.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

I dont want to get a phone on contract, and dont really have a need for 4G right now. So basically, I'm looking for a phone to hold me out for maybe a year atleast...
the Droid X2's 540x960 resolution, lack of front facing camera and being a solid 3g phone is what sold me on it. bottom line it's a motorola communication device, and they do what they need to do and take a beating. F HTC and their easily hackable bootloaders. the easiest to hack devices are gonna be the first to get taken out by malware and viruses once they start becoming more prevalent (and they will)
my droid X2 is fast as hell, gets great battery life (compared to what I read from others) and I can modify as much as I need to as it can still be rooted and I'm running the ported Atrix 2.3.4 rom w/ some bloat removed. I don't have any of the problems others complain about with this phone (media playback, sound/video issues)
I've literally tried every hack, script, and rom out there along with a few little tweaks of my own and this is the first android device I've EVER had that I've felt was adequate. I've had more than my fair share of HTC junk, and that's exactly how I feel about that taiwanese crap. so far this X2 has been through hell, I gave up on cases and protectors (cause they don't fit quite right and make the docks impossible to use) and it's got some battle scars from work and play (it even got run over by a K5 blazer while I was 4-wheelin in the colorado rockies) and it just won't die... every HTC I ever had I swear started just failing after being dropped once or twice with the exception of my old 8125, it took full immersion in a pan full of hot engine coolant to finally kill it, and it worked for a good 2 weeks after that happened until the keyboard and touchscreen became basically unresponsive. it's only a matter of time until this device is unlockable (seriously, give me ONE example of SOMETHING out there that runs software and could not be hacked/cracked/exploited in some way)
i'll put it in this perspective, launcher icons in a 5 wide 7 high grid. I can fit EVERYTHING I need on ONE homescreen with no overlap, an 800x480 screen will not do that.
my only complaint about the phone is the camera SUCKS in low light, but it's just a crappy CMOS phone camera with a plastic lens, what do you expect? I've NEVER used a camera phone for any really important pictures anyway. I want my phone to first and foremost be a COMMUNICATION DEVICE and when it comes to solid radio technology, you can NEVER go wrong with anything motorola (so long as it doesn't flip or slide)
but then again, I was born with a keyboard in my hand and an insatiable thirst for knowledge of all things electrical/electonic, mechanical and everything in between.
^^^ jealousy is the worst emotion.
More politics in xda then Washington.
I'd double check getting that evo onto page plus. I couldn't get my thunderbolt on there because of the 4g radio.
With regard to the Droid x2, I've got a real love hate relationship with this thing. It's really picky and takes a ron of fine tuning to get it working fluidly, in my experience. But, in my experience it gives the best photos of any phone I've used. They don't look very good on the screen (pentile is horrible with color banding), but they reproduce really well on other media.
My dinc2, which you should also consider, functions much more reliably without all these freaking scripts with dozens of parameters to tweak. But, the video frame rates can't match those of the dx2, and photos are not as good.
Always boils down to what you need. I'm about ready to throw my dx2 under the next bus that passes by if it stutters on me again.

Durable? I dropped it once from hip distance and now the screen had a hairline crack in the bottom corner. not sure about being ran over..

Evo is a Sprint phone. Page plus uses Verizon phones. X2 with tegra doesn't seem to have any advantages besides good video codec support. Nothing amazing optimized for tegra and the single core phones have so much more customization going for them. And all Motorola qhd screens suck. Colors including video look washed out.
Htc's qhd like on sensation use normal rgb lcds vs. The new moto (DROID 3, x2, bionic, photon, ATRIX) using pentile rgbw.
I wouldn't recommend this phone for a few reasons, one of which is tegra has little going for it especially on this phone. Everything is optimized for snapdragon, even if this phone should technically be more powerful.
If u do a lit of music listening from device don't go with x2. Otherwise great phone. Stupid st..ut.ter..s...I..a.mm.g...g ..ettett ...img...tired of music skips ;(

Alot of comparisons of the razr and nexus, but not the razr and rezound?

If the bootloader wasn't an issue I would stay with the razr for sure. I came from an evo where the development was endless. I think the development for the razr would probably out live the rezound if it wasn't for the dang thing being locked. Ugh...I can't make up my mind.

I like the build quality but hate the hardware.
Nothing a little CM can't fix.

Why I prefer the Razr over the Rezound:
Display has much less glare
Much easier to see outside
Better touch response
Better contrast and brightness
Hot swap card
Webtop (Atrix lapdock rocks)
Better call quality
Faster performance
That said, if you are a kernel and ROM junky, the Razr will probably leave you cold turkey.

Lol. Thanks for not bashing me for having my own preferences and opinions. There are some hardcore HTC lovers and fan boys out there who sweat by them.
I had a rezound razr and nexus. Ill put in my .02$
Rezound was nice, screen felt tiny even though it was 4.3". 720p LCD is great. Colors are great. Sense is either you love it or hate it. I hated it, and it was a big turn off. It is now unlockable which will just lead to more development. The phone was fat but felt great in the hand, unlike the thinness of the razr. Beats was just a marketing tool, nothing really special about it, should not be a deciding factor. Battery life was decent, not as good as bionic/razr however. Oh and sense made the phone lag from time to time, but like the above guy said, nothing a desensed or CM rom cant fix.

Tbh as much as people whined about battery life on this phone, I refused to get one with a faster processor, bigger screen, AND smaller battery. Just wasn't doing it for me.
Everyone seems to like the Rezound with one exception... they all says its slow for its specs. It packs a 1.5ghz processor but only fares as well as 1ghz phone, or so they say.

This is just my experience of course. But I had two Rezounds before I got my RAZR. I did my research and the Rezound seemed to have the edge. First one's casing around the charging port jiggled. It was unsettling so I got a different one. The second one's call quality was so scrambled you could barely hear the other side. My family got a total of 5 Rezounds, and 3 had horrible call quality.
So finally I got the RAZR instead, and I'm so glad I switched. It never bogs down due to Sense, and call quality and signal are the best I've had on a phone. The screen resolution is a bit lower, but it's not noticeable. Actually it's nice having bigger text. And for build and call quality, speed, and battery life, the RAZR wins hands down in my experience.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
Ok I know I'm weird but i have all 3 devices. I've used each for at least 3 days or more and I'll throw in my 3 cents. For me I'll list in order of devices.
1 - The Razr 95%
2 - Rezound 85%
3 - Galazy Nexus - 45% (I think I'm giving that too high a mark really)
I should mention I've rooted all 3 and use them with heavy use with over 3000 contacts, GPS and lots of phone calls to my clients.
Razr - screen beautiful, Navigation gps locks in a nonosecond, volume is excellent, fast and just a pleasure to use and very light to hold. With 2 rooted apps (Battery Calibration and AutoKiller Memory Optimizer I'm getting almost 2 days with all my use!!! On the negative side I think the thin is great but I wish it was not so wide for my smaller hands. Quadrant score consistent over 2700 (I don't know if that means anything really but it is cool to blow everything out of the water)
Rezound - screen is very nice, smaller print etc so harder to read for my old eyes, not quite as brilliant as the Razr. Navigation GPS lock not as quick as the Razr but quick. Volume on par with the Razr and like the Razr all software works excellent. With 2 rooted apps (Battery Calibration and AutoKiller Memory Optimizer) I'm able to get about 18 hours on average so ok) Quadrant score consistent over 2100 - not bad. I Like the resound in my hand as it's not as wide but it weights like a small brick.
Galaxy Nexus - I was so thinking this would be bomb...but after several days of use it is a bomb and not in a good way. Navigation GPS takes forever, Volume is abysmal, I mean from 5 feet away you can hardly hear a ring or music...horrible. I have a motorola bluetooth headphones and with my phone in my pocket I get a silence every 5 seconds, unacceptable to say the least. With 2 rooted apps (Battery Calibration and AutoKiller Memory Optimizer) I was getting about 10 hours of use and for that reason alone it gets an F. Quadrant score about 1200 but again not sure that means much. But really its an F for me for almost all categories except Ice Cream Sandwich which is nice, but Gingerbread works just fine for me with the other 2 phones. Phone is wide like the Razr and the weight is in the middle of the Razr and the Rezound.
This review is just my opinion. The Galaxy I just sold on Ebay and I will not miss it at all. I'm keeping both the Razr and the Rezound and have for now trading off using each. Being able to flash roms on the Rezound is way fun and at the moment I'm on Ineffabilis ROM which has so many cool tweaks and that make me smile.
I hope this helps,
Cheers to you all...

RAZR, iPhone4S or Galaxy Nexus?

Ive decided to get a new phone (Well, actually my HTC decided for me by having its touchscreen die) but I'm not entirely sure what to get.
(The part that sucks about this, is all the new quadcore phones and iPhone 5 coming soon/later this year)
The Galaxy Note was just too big, so I've narrowed it down to the Galaxy Nexus, Moto RAZR and iphone4S. How have you found the GN to be? Is there anything I should keep in mind?
The RAZR and the GN have pretty much the same GPU/CPU combo, but the GN has a better screen, right? For those of you who have tried both, is there a major visible difference between the GN screen and the screen on the RAZR?
(Yes, I've heard all about the Pentile display, but it doesn't really bother me on the RAZR. I tried as hard as I can, and I can't tell the difference. Probably because the resolution is so high...)
The thing that's holding me back from the GN is the camera. I've heard that its fast, but not very good (Esp. compared to the iPhones camera) and at 5MP the resolution is pretty small these days.
The RAZR is kinda tempting because of all the accessories (Lapdock etc,) the ultra thin design, 8MP camera (Thou I've heard the quality is so-so) and being expandable up to 48 GB. But how is the camera on the RAZR? I've noticed it shoots pretty fast, but how does it compare quality wise?
I'm trying to keep ICS out of the equation, since the RAZR will have it soon.
And then theres the iPhone. I've heard the camera is awesome on it, it has a GPU that still can't be beat by any Android phone, and Apple is really awesome with providing updates quick, and for a long time after they released a phone. The thing that really holds me back though, is the 3.5 inch screen. Yes, it's an awesome screen, and amazing PPI, but I'm not sure I could get used to a screen that small after having an SGSII and Evo3D for a while with a 4.3 inch screen.
So yeah, is there anything about the RAZR I should know about? What phone would you choose if you haven't chosen what you have? And how do you find the battery life?
Dude it depends on your experience by using Android phones or IOS Phones for me 4s is better cuz it has lots of features when jailbreaked....About Nexus its cool but kinda "slow" IOS Has better speed and performance I mean NO LAGG at 4S
PLEASE GIMME THANKS!
From those 3 phones I would choose the Razr. The thing that is bringing up the thought of returning mine is the bootloader: will it get unlocked or not, if so when? The apple Iphone I would simply never ever consider it because the phone is so locked(no widgets etc) and the Gnex is awesome because there is so many roms+ unlocked BL. But if the RAZR gets the BL unloacked I think it will be a beast. The built quality is one of the best i`ve seen on an Android phone. Beats bith the Gnex and Iphone.
Sorry for spelling mistakes I am writing this on my tab without auto correction.

My advice is the Razr as i have had a Iphone4s and nexus and a Galaxy S2
the razr is best in build quality along with the iphone4S
Iphone 4S is the most overrated hardware in this century so far i kept it for 1 day and sold it
While Samsung phones feel all cheap and nasty but have great features
The Razr is a great phone and its now my main phone , defo the best phone on the market at present
only bad side to Razr is locked bootloader and it doesnt have WIFI direct
great roms Icecream Sandwich roms already out put the phone to near full potential
Cant really fault this phone its the best by far
I came to the Razr Maxx from the Evo 3D. I loved the Evo 4G and Evo 3D. You won't notice anything about the screen that overly zealous people are complaining about on the Razr's screen. The screen is great. But get the Maxx. The battery lasts all day long. You'll really like that feature.
The Apple's screen is just too small. It would be nice if they released a phone with a bigger screen and loosened their control over the device just a bit. With Jobs dead now you would think that might happen but I wouldn't hold my breath. Afterall, why give the public something they might want. Apple knows best.
get an iphone kthxbai
For me decision to buy a razr was quite easy. I had 3gs & 2x iP 4 and I definitely didn't want to come back to this s#*%. I'm talking abt iTunes and othes "advantages" of IOS.
Samsung devices are realy high performance but.. looks and feels like a piece of crappy plastic. But I wanted nice and solid looking device.
Well, that's my story.

thanks whore.
I wouldn't add much to what everyone here has already said. It basically boils down to preference.
iPhone 4s has a really smooth interface and yeah iOS is optimized like ****! But then you're hardware support is gonna run out pretty soon cuz it has no dev community. Also if you're an experiment freak like me, you're gonna feel caged. You'll be stuck with an older version of iOS while all the newer Apple devices will get updated.
With Android that isn't the case, I still have my old 2010 SE Xperia X8 and even it's got an ICS port. So device support (at least unofficially) isn't an issue.
Now coming down to GNex vs. RAZR
RAZR wins out on almost every front. Better build quality, signal/reception, camera, call quality and GPS. A smaller screen and lesser res(it in no way looks pixellated or anything, the display is just beautiful but statistically lesser in res and size) with the same GPU as GNex means you'll get higher frame rates as games start taxing these GPUs. Also its the slimmest in the world(one of a kind) with a revolutionary design so you got bragging rights too!
The RAZR has a TI OMAP 4430, which is a lower model that GNex's TI OMAP 4460, but then their both clocked at 1.2 GHz. Untill we get overclocking support, you won't actually notice any difference at stock speeds.(please correct me if im wrong here)
The RAZR does lose out on the locked bootloader and direct update support. But we've heard from kholk that a bootloader bypass is on the way and also that Motorola is planning to unlock our bootloaders with the ICS update in Q2.
The fact that Gnex has ICS again doesn't matter much. ICS doesn't bring any thing really useful to the table. Its just like a hyper-optimized Gingerbread. No lags, smooth UI and all that ****.
The RAZR is scheduled for the ICS update anyways and I'm pretty sure that it'll see android 5.0 too!
PS: Even if the Gnex was better than the RAZR in every damned specification, I would still buy the RAZR. I just can't stand the plastic on Samsung phones. When the hell are they gonna learn that you don't put something as cheap as plastic on high end phones! :/
BTW tried to keep my thoughts as unbiased as possible. Hope it helped!
EDIT
Sorry forgot somethings!
Battery on the RAZR is awesome! I can easily get 1.5 days of normal usage with some wifi (no data however). Also you can use setCPU to lower processor speeds when the screen is off! Thats a big battery booster!
Battery Life Order:
RAZR>iPhone 4S> GNEX(Battery on the GNEX truly SUCKS!, idk what samsung was thinking)

All in what you want. IPhone has kinda a Fisher Price ui IMO. It is fast & smooth. And is missing lee capability. Screen is beautiful, but tiny.
Nexus has a cheap battery door. The camera is small, but fast. And there us no SD slot. Deal killer for me.
I have a couple Razr Maxx's. I love them. They are sturdy, and the battery life is phenomenal. Motorola Blur is coming along nicely. The smart actions are extremely handy, as is Motocast. HDMI has full mirroring, which is also nice. The nano-coating is not only water resistant, its fingerprint resistant. Bootloader is the only negative for this phone, unless you're looking for NFC or a barometer.
If u are a crack flasher, u might want the nexus. Otherwise, for something that just dominated out of the box, Maxx can't be beat yet IMO. Don't waste you're money on a og Razr. U will just end up frustrated with battery life.
Hey I would consider the rezound out of all of them. It has the best screen out with 720p 4.3" display, equal to the galaxy nexus but sharper. 32gb of storage, 8mp camera with 1080p recording. 2mp front face camera. Beats audio, Dual core 1.5ghz snapdragon processor. Dev support is outstanding. Mine is running android 4.0.3 ics and has face lock. Phone is the only one aside from the Thunderbolt that can talk and surf at the sametime on 3g and 4g. The other 4g phones on Verizon can only do it on 4g. It's rooted and has free WiFi tethering. The galaxy nexus is ok but it gets boring from times. Vanilla ics is ok for some. The 5mp camera was not that great and I dislike the fact that there is no external sd card slot. The only thing great to me about the nexus is getting the updates first. I wish HTC was still making the galaxy line up. The razr is ok. It has great signal, battery life is great. Screen is pretty good. I don't know if it's that new pin tile technology on the razor or not but I hate the pin tile. Looks grainy or something when looking at it close. I hate motoblur. The only thing nice about blur widgets were that they were resizable but they suck to me. There like windows phone 7 tiles without the live action. The rezound is a excellent phone in my opinion. HTC sense is just a better UI to me. Sense 4.0 is even better and runs very light on the Rom. Or with the rezound you can also go with the vanilla feel of ics. Screen is incredible. Music sounds amazing, never had a problem with signal. My battery life is great with dev support getting 14hrs out of my rezound with heavy use. Camera is beautiful.

The Sense UI on the HTC rezound actually makes the phone lag! Sorry dude, I hate Sense with a passion! Seen too many HTC phones with my friends. :/
And the 1.5 Ghz dual core processor isn't even a true dual core. Its more on a makeshift arrangement. Thats the reason why HTC Rezound is beaten by the RAZR and other TI OMAP dual core phones in benchmarks. And as far as Beats are concerned, its just a software equalizer, nothing else and its already been ported!
And an LCD display doesn't even come close to a S-AMOLED display when it comes to color contrast and brightness. Besides AMOLEDs eat less battery with dark colors!
Also the Rezound is bulky and HTC is probably gonna kill hardware support for it very soon in light of the new HTC One series release. So I don't think its that good an option.
Dont go the Apple way, I just did but couldnt go back, to many things is just missing.

It all depends on what you're looking for the most in using your phone. For me, getting all my calls, texts, and voice mails on time, are number 1 priority. And Motorola is known to make great wireless radios. The internet speeds are awesome on it. I love the Droid Razr. Not a big fan of the screen display technology but it's easy to get use to. Also not a big fan of the TI OMap processor, I think it's kinda slow but it's not a big enough issue to drive me away. It has a nice camera and it's a really nice smartphone. The build quality is fantastic in my opinion. The device just looks beautiful. I read and also have heard in videos that Motorola isn't gonna be seeing ICS updates until 3RD quarter of the year. That's pretty late. If you're thinking about getting the Razr, I would get the Razr Maxx. But the thing that sucks about the Maxx is that right now it only comes in black I believe. The OG Razr comes in black, white, and purple.
If you want the ICS OS right now or you plan to root and flash roms, your best choice is the Galaxy Nexus. Google phones are made for development. I expected something amazing with the Galaxy Nexus but it's ok to me. Only thing it has that I like is ICS. The display is ok. I expected better with 720p HD.
Iphone 4s has a great camera and screen display. It looks to be smooth when I play with it. I never owned one so I don't know. My friend who was an android head for years went to get a iPhone and he loves it. Says it's smooth no lag. Not as many bugs as android. I may have to mess around and get a iPhone in the future lol. But it would absolutely need to have a bigger screen and it would have to be a 4G device. The current screen size with iPhone is too small for my taste but hey some people might not care.

[Q] question for current owners

Are the majority of the owners of the rezound happy, and if you had to do it again, would you purchase the same phone? Looking at getting the rezound
Thanks
Yes I would this phone is the best when it comes to gaming but the battery life suck, unless you have the extended battery which is 50% off. But just to sum it up yes, yes I would.
Best phone for Verizon hands down. Only thing close to being at par with the Rezound is the Nexus and that's just software. Hardware wise, not even close.

I would buy again in a heartbeat. It's been nothing but good for 3 + months.
same for me. I pretty much have always stuck with HTC devices
Hello,
Yes I am VERY happy and would do it again! Plus I got mine while it was on sale for $49.99 online
Seriously though Im very happy with the screen and camera which were things I really look for in a phone. My previous android was the droid X, I honestly didnt think it was bad (I was on a rom) but I HATED!!!! the camera.
If you get it you will be happy.
Yes, I would
I went from Incredible to Incredible2, then Rezound.
I like the hand feel of the Rezound best. Easy to locate
in pockets, easy to use, and soon likely to have Ice Cream
Sandwich, making it about perfect.
YES, I would buy it again best phone i ever owned
Perhaps, it certainly is a good device, I just feel it is a poor fit for me. I'm actually looking for a trade for the GNexus right now.
Extremely happy with the phone, would choose it over any other on the market atm. Signal is strong where all other phones fail where I live... Really I just hate the carrier, Verizon themselves lol.
I love this phone. When I purchased it, I was contemplating the G Nexus, Moto Razr and this one. The processor specs were the same for the most part, but what stood apart was either ICS on the Nexus, but no removable memory, or no ICS goodies for the Rezound, but removable memory. Of course with any good Android device the developer following was gonna be good so I went with the rezound. Haven't regretted it yet. Also I came from the Droid X as well and before that the OG Droid all had custom Roms and Kernels as will any Android phone purchased in my future.
I also love it! It took three replacements but I finally have one that plays nice with me xP

No question. IMHO it is STILL the best phone VZW offers at the moment.
Only downside is the screen scratches easily. Get a protector. Runs a little hot too.
I researched the galaxy nexus, razor, and rezound for a month straight. I picked the rezound and I'm very proud of my decision. Best part is the screen. Not only is it extremely clear, but it scrolls smoother than any other android phone I've seen. Just don't play any games with high graphics and your phone will last you a whole day!

I did very much the same. My two choices were either the HTC Rezound or Galaxy Nexus. I researched and went in to Verizon to play with both phones. Sure, the Nexus has a slightly larger screen, but the phone was held together by duct tape in the store. It just felt flimsy to me. The Rezound, on the other hand... ahhhh... I knew she was going to be mine the moment she touched my hand...
I would choose Rezound over and over again. I have never loved a phone so much. LOL
Yes
Agreed with most here, it is my favorite on V right now for these reasons:
Best Screen - 720p, not pen-tile and best pixel density of any phone, on any carrier...
SD card support - gnex and other ICS phones are dropping this feature for some reason
Dimensions - smaller screen dimensions than other top-end devices (yes, that is a plus for me... if I wanted a tablet to hold to my ear I'd buy one, lol)
Headphones - they don't suck (not something you normally say about any bundled 'phones)
Powerful - the dual core 1.5Ghz keeps things on par with gnex and any other contemporary
Out of each of those, the screen is hands-down the biggest asset. It is a amazing. Great to watch movies on when traveling. I can't say enough about the pixel density. From the endgaget review (silly link restriction): "And not only does the Rezound beat the iPhone's display soundly, it does so with a larger screen size. Rivals such as the Vivid and Droid RAZR are left in the dust."
The only downers from my perspective are it's not as thin as some (like the gnex) even though it is smaller screen it is heavier than some too. (only slightly) The positives above more than outweigh these though.
The ICS update was solid, but the rom scene showed (especially BAMF 2.1 version) how awesome batt life can be on it. Simply amazing.
You know, it would still be a tough choice between the Rezound and the Galaxy Nexus again (mainly because I dislike manufacturer skins).
But when it comes down to it, I probably would buy the Rezound again. It's a great all-around phone and gets much better battery life than I expected it would. Also, the iBeats were a nice inclusion.
There is no other phone but the Rezound. I haven't even looked at the One. I imagine at some point there will be another phone that draws my eye, but I am really surprised by the fact that no other super-phones have really been announced.
Love this phone.

Droid DNA or should I leave to a RAZR Maxx HD?

Galaxy s4 at the end of the month. Pretty sure it will see more action than the DNA. Though DNA imo is probably better.

In all fairness, the Razr Maxx has twice the internal memory, option for an SD card, quicker updates from Motorola, better radios and currently an unlocked bootloader option. As for screen resolution, smoothness (quad-core plus twice the ram), camera and features the DNA wins in those categories.

I've owned both. The battery life is immensely great on the maxx. But it being locked down like the dna was horrible. Motoblur is kept to a minimum. While Rom speed ends up slow due to the lacking dual core. The moto doesn't have anything resembling a task manager so the phone becomes quick overrun by rogue apps robbing memory. It does have a decent radio but the lte radios were horrible. I had a unique problem the other razr owners had. Dust would accumulate in the headphone port cause it not to switch AT ALL. The Maxx is a decent phone. But the HTC has a better radio and reception, faster processor and a better camera. However. The maxx had a better microphone for videos. I have comparison videos I could post if you'd like. But. I chose the DNA.

How do you know that the radios are better? "Because its a Motorola" is not a valid answer.
OP, the razr HD is even wider than the DNA. It is difficult to use with one hand.
Sad to know that specwise. The RAZR. Is/mighthavebeen the thinnest phone on the market. I got better reception on my DNA than I ever did on the maxx. It would also heat up quite a bit whereas the DNA is slightly warm? And only hot with my wireless charger. The razr used to heat up even in a long phone call which made it almost unbearable to hold on your face. I also had to send my RAZR in for a refurb. Vibe motor became disconnected from the mobo and rattled in the phone. Except the razr had a very strong vibe motor. The colors and screen quality got better with the JB update it got. However in lowlight settings the physical manufacturing limits of the screen left black splotches that with time will expand and move about the screen. You cannot see these under high brightness. 3 razr maxx's and one friends razr all had this issue so its not limited to batch runs. I can imagine they improved this with the newer HD version but I can't atest to it. The motorola hardware is SOLID. But the software that moto overlays can be cumbersome. At least HTC always tests sense. Even on a 5-600mhz Qualcomm the sense doesn't lag. I can keep answering any questions you have. I'm very very picky. My DNA headphone port plastic chipped away one day. But. I still have my charge door. I don't plug in.

If you're at all used to the speed, display, and smoove operating on the DNA, the Maxx HD will be a difficult pill to swallow. I went that route and had real trouble getting over the screen; there is absolutely no comparison to the DNA and the DNA wins hands down. The second thing I noticed on the Maxx HD was the lag that creeps up and bites you on the @ss. At first I didn't think it was any big deal. As time went on however, the lag got worse and worse until I finally said, "Enough!". At one point I was using TiB to reboot the phone for me every night just to clear things out.
I gave up the stellar battery life for a phone I'm in love with. IMHO there isn't anything out there which compares to the DNA; my only desire would be a bigger battery, but there are tradeoffs to be considered. I've learned to live with the battery life using a combo of carefully monitoring specific app battery consumption and using a wireless charger. I'm sure there are people who have gone this route and decided to stick with the Maxx HD or some other phone for their own personal priorities.
With the launch of the S4 and the One I'm sure they will rival the DNA in many areas. However I don't know if they'll usurp the DNA in my daily usage, that remains to be seen. Good luck with your choice!
==ETA==
Reception: My wife has never before commented on my phones and their reception. However when I started using the DNA she said, "Your phone sounds a lot clearer than it has in the past. Have you been somewhere other than your normal place for talking to me while at work?" I've noticed the DNA is as good or better than the Moto for reception and voice quality; IMHO that's not at all a reason to give up the DNA.

As a Moto owner (Bionic) I find it interesting that you think updates come quicker for Motorola than for HTC. Its not the brand, its VZW!
On a side note, I'm considering the DNA as a replacement for my Bionic. I'm mainly concerned that I'll be switching from one red-headed step-child to another! Currently waiting to see what happens with the HTC One before I make my decision.

I work for Verizon and I have the DNA as my personal phone and the Razr Maxx HD as my work phone. I can tell you I like both I don't think either is bad but there are pros a cons. for me I like the 32GB of internal and up to 64GB MicroSD card support on the Razr. I love the battery on the Razr like 2 to 3 days with good usage. however cons horrible camera. The dual core lags and the phone freezes more for me. also the screen is no where near as good. also I and I will get a lot that disagree actually like Sense over motoblur. Mind you I have Sense 5. Also I love the wireless charging in the DNA. Personally I am waiting I have heard we are getting a DNA+ soon and S4 is coming amongst a few others.

"Because it's a motorola" is a completely valid answer. They have *never* been good at tuning radios for use on VZW's network. It's always been crap, from the OG Droid to the new RAZR line, and the Bionic was a massive failure in that category, worse than others. The only thing Motorola knows how to do is build decent material-quality handsets. Everything else about them is less than sub par.

I "should" be happy, except that I'm running CM10.1, so I haven't even bothered with the JB update. To be honest, I was really surprised that they even pushed the JB update out. It took forever to get ICS, and don't forget all the radio issues with the Bionic.
Still, I can (and may) upgrade next month. Not totally happy with any of the options at this point, so I may hold on a little longer. I've even contemplated buying a used phone and leaving my contract as-is for now in case I get totally frustrated with VZW and decide to jump ship.

I was pretty surprised about the JB as well; I think Moto is trying to make up for the bad mojo created early in the life of that device. Back in the day I went through a couple of them and agonized over terrible radios, poor battery life, a year before an official ICS was released, bad camera, etc...you know the drill. I couldn't handle it and jumped ship for a GNex (at the time).
Regarding not upgrading, I highly recommend sticking with the used market and leaving the contract alone or going month-to-month. Especially since VZW pushed the upgrade cycle from 18mo. to 24mo., even the economics of upgrading don't make a whole lot of sense to me. Of course I'm grandfathered in to unlimited data so they can pry that out of my cold, dead hands. The secondary market really isn't bad, and it's especially safe on eBay. Generally you can catch a price break on CL, but there are a lot of shady characters pushing some bad deals - if you know what to look out for though, it can be navigated.
Good luck with your choice, and with whatever device you choose next.

True. Then again what real staying power does any king of the hill have? Only until the next younger, stronger, smarter, faster, better looking, more nimble, blah, blah, blah....shows up. In all seriousness, I am really impressed with the way the Bionic hardware and build can still almost keep up with the current pack. Says a lot about Moto, at least Moto ca. 2010.

Very good point. So my real question, and reason for posting in this thread, is to find out if the DNA might be the next phone to do the same... Although I have my concerns about the fixed internal battery and lack of microSD.
I had a RMHD bought through Bestbuy. I loved the build and feel of it, the battery was amazing , but the thing that pushed me away was the horrible lag and screen redraws. It drove me crazy. Now having had a Note 2 which for me was too large, I decided to switch to the DNA last Saturday and am pretty happy so far. Size and speed are great , battery is decent (nowhere near RMHD or N2) but fine for my usage. Bought the wireless charger and like it also. That's just my experience. Had the RMHD not lagged so much I would have gone with it .
