Normal SIM to micro SIM

They should.. or can. But like mentioned, get a cutter on eBay. A lot of em come with adaptors so you can use your NEW micro sim with a regular sim slot!

[Q] Standard SIM or Micro SIM for T-Mobile (USA)...?
Hi Guys,
Which one will I need for the S3 if using T-Mobile (USA): "Micro SIM", or "Standard SIM"? Don't like the idea of cutting the SIM too much, and rather get the correct size right away...
Does anyone know -for sure - what size SIM card is needed for T-Mobile (USA)?
Reason for my question: I am not going with a T-Mobile contract, but want to try a prepaid SIM card from a 3rd party provider.
Thanks!

Are you for real?
Micro SIM = Micro SIM nomatter where you are.

I think most, ifnot all SGSIII has Micro SIM instead of MiniSIM.
I walked into the HI store yesterday (My TSP), got it cut into Micro SIM and an adapter for my current SGS for free!

You don't get it...

I don't know what's so funny about this, you brainless Danish Fish Stick !!?
It's morons like you who sabotage excellent message boards - like XDA - with your stupid, arrogant comments! My question on the SIM was an honest question, and certainly not worth being ridiculed....
Go back to your Troll friends in the mountains, or stick around and learn some "Netiquette"!! (...yeah, google it, since you probably don't know what it means..)

Hi there - you will need to get a micro sim for your S3 - that is what the current documentation is showing anyway. Either way, if you get a micro SIM card and it is the wrong size, you can always get an adaptor cheaply off Ebay or Amazon to convert it to a mini SIM card (what you referred to as a Standard SIM).

[Q] Sim swap between Galaxy Nexus and Rezound

I own both a galaxy nexus and a rezound (Took advantage of the $50 deal). I now know that the Rezound uses a standard sim while the Nexus uses a mini or micro sim. I obviously will have to go to Verizon and ask for a new sim every single time I want to switch between phones normally, however I have heard about sim cutting before... Is it realistic that I could cut the regular sim down to fit the nexus and position it or use tape to fit it back to the rezound? If this is a really stupid question I'm sorry, but I have been a Verizon customer forever. Although I have owned many different LTE devices galaxy nexus was first with mirco/mini sim....
http://www.amazon.com/Micro-SIM-Cutter-Converter-adapters/dp/B003UEWF8I
That is basically what you need. I assume it works with LTE sim cards. That includes the cutter to cut a big one down to micro and 2 adapters so you can then use the micro card in the Rezound.
Adapter only; better reviews:

It does work to cut the simple but you do also need an adapter so you could put the small one back in the rezound

Did that work for you? I'm thinking of doing the same.
Thanks.

I'm in the same situation. What I did was just take the micro sim out of the nexus and just lined it up in the space on the rezound where the sim card connectors would line up. Sometimes I have to just readjust the placement to align the leads correctly but, it does work.
The only annoying part is getting it out of either sim card holder, nexus or rezound. I don't use the sim card adapter. Just make sure to start with the regular micro sim. Cutting the full sized one may be tough.
Good luck!

Glad to hear the Rezound works with the small one. Unfortunately, I have the normal SIM, so I'll have to try cutting it down to size if I want to pop it in a Nexus (or something else). Just wanted to see if someone was successful with that. I don't want to have to ask/tell Verizon if I want to move to another phone (in light of the announcement today).

But if you just get the micro and buy the adapter then you would basically have micro and standard SIM card. Use the micro for phones that use micro SIM and use the micro with the adapter for phones that use standard SIM. And no needing to keep getting different SIM cards.

I get it now. No need to go through the hassle of cutting the SIM down to size. Just ask Verizon for a small one (presumably before they start implementing any forced contract changes) and use the new, micro SIM with (or without) an adapter for any phone. Sweet!
Thanks folks.
You can buy an adapter for $1.10 on Amazon. Fyi Verizon knows immediately which phone is being used. Hopefully, it still won't matter when the new plans are put in place this summer.
I know they can tell what phone you're using but I figured the act of going into the store and buying another phone (or asking for a SIM card) could be a trigger that gets them to move you onto their new data plan. But it looks like it doesn't matter now. It seems Verizon is okay with people keeping their old plans as long as they pay full price for a new phone. No more subsidies. If customers want to be stubborn and keep the plan that they signed up for, they'll just have to pay more. I'm glad for the option, but damn, that's a chunk of change.

FYI. The Rezound will work just fine with either the full size (standard) or the micro sim card. No adapter is required.

You don't need an adapter. The micro sim card will go directly into the Rezound and work fine. That is how I am running mine.

Is it Micro Sim?

Just wondering if I have to call Three and ask for a Micro Sim?
Thanx.
you can either ask your provider or simply cut your sim by yourself, there are many guides for that.
I'm using my sim card on different phones, i don't take the flagship to fishing or so, so i cannot have just micro sim, as i need also normal sim card.
I asked my mobile network guy about micro sim, and explained my needs. He offered me to visit any of the offices and the staff in them have special scissors that will cut the micro sim out of the normal sim card, and i will have the empty leftover frame from normal sim, it will be usable once i will go fishing, i will put the micro sim into the normal sim's frame and could use it with the older phone
You can find cutters on ebay or amazon for ten or less. I figure I might be trimming a few of them for my needs so I decided to spring for one. Will be a little curious to see if my sim survives the surgery or not. lol

Have to say im a bit pissed over this what the hell is wrong with just having a normal SIM
So you should read my post how to have your normal SIM cut to have the frame

A SIM card is like a full-sized credit card.
When you get a sim card in the mail with the mini-SIM inside, the plastic card it is attached to is actually the normal SIM card size.
So it goes SIM> Mini-SIM> Micro-SIM in terms of size and what people consider a normal SIM card is infact a Mini-SIM card, which was the joke I was making.

It is indeed.
OP: just get an adapter to use the micro sim in another phone. I'm getting this one from Amazon UK at it seems better than the others I've seen (no sticker to hold things in place needed!) My plan is to order a micro sim from Three and have it activated before I receive the S3 and I'll just use the micro sim with the adapter in my S2 in the meantime. The activation request form for Three UK can be found here or I assume it can all be done in-store too if you have one nearby

Well take it from me, you better be careful taking the microsim out if its within the tray or the frame, the frame/tray can pull on the contact pins of the sim slot and break them. The cost for repair isn't cheap for these new phones as I found out because sim slot replacement for phones are almost never sold separately so you'll have to send it back to the manufacturer.
Of course, if you have one of those phone with their own sim tray or the sim slot close use a 'fold down door', then its good.

Hi
Just checking - there seem to be a couple of slightly different layouts of the chip on a SIM. This cutter is described as being for an iPhone. Is it definitely suitable for all UK SIMs?
TIA
i got lucky, when i ordered a replacement micro sim in preperation, for a phone with micro sim it came with an adapter so i can still use the sim in a stands sim slot phone.
My sim cutter & adaptors came this morning
Just bought an micro->mini adapter. Too bad the title said it was for iPhone. Now I feel dirty...
ANYWAYZ, learning that what I normally called a SIM, what actually is a mini-sim, is actually true. I remember the good ol' days when we had telephone cards (Sim cards) we put in telephone booths to call people.
edit:
I just googled a bit, and I am wrong. The telephone cards are 1FF, and we are currently using 2FF. Ignore above text. The Sims we are using now though, IS mini-sim.

SIM Cards

I've been reading and watching that this takes micro SIM cards - at least for the US versions. What about the international versions? Do they take regular sized SIMS or micro as well?
They take micro as well.
It's micro sim
《tapatalked from galaxy s3》
Why are all high end sets migrating towards Micro Sim all of a sudden?
Smaller. Allows more stuff to be put into the same area. That's my guess anyway.

And it looks like we'll have do deal with nano sims at some point... It's going to be 12.3mm tall, 8.8mm wide, and 0.67mm thick which is apparently 40% smaller than micro. And yes they do it to free up some space inside.

What's sad is that they made regular SIM cards (sometimes referred to as Mini SIM cards) way bigger than they needed to in the first place. That excess room provides no added benefit. It would have saved time/money/resources just by making micro SIM cards to begin with.

Selling my Note. SIM question

I just upgraded to the S4 and am selling my note. I know the Note has a larger SIM. If I were to sell it would the person have to get a new SIM card from AT&T?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
It's recommended to get the right size sim card. At&t doesn't charge to replace them. There are cutters and inserts available. People even tape them in place but it always leads to problems. You could even botch up the sim port on the phone if not careful.

The sim is YOUR account information. It isn't transferred between subscribers.
Chances are the new owner will need to get an LTE sim to use the phone.

Can't find anywhere in UK that can pre-order, or order, dual sim version.
Ideally somewhere doing the promotion and/or with option of PayPal.

Three uk is only reseller that I know of that does dual SIM.
You cannot buy from them sim free but you can get on contract and then cancel and works out slightly cheaper than a single free device. See my post in the UK thread.

Whatever you do, don't put a 3 SIM in first as it will be permanently branded to 3 and worst of all you won't get many updates. Worth getting a PAYG sim if need be just to avoid this crap.
