The zaggkeys pro looks awesome. I have the freedom pro. I like it alot. The only thing I don't like about it is that when using it, the soft onscreen keyboard comes up too. I wish there was a way to disable the onscreen keyboard while using the Bluetooth keyboard.

There is an app on the market for this, it basically works by enabling a dummy keyboard application that's completely blank. I'm sorry, I don't remember the name of the app, try searching on the play store for bluetooth keyboard ime.

According to a reviewer at Amazon, it won't fit without major surgery. I think you'd be better off with a bluetooth keyboard, which would let you use the tablet in both portrait and landscape mode.
I'm using the Logitech Tablet Keyboard For Android 3.0+ that I bought at Target for $60 (it was $70 at Best Buy). The keys feel pretty nice. Also, when I first started using it the onscreen keyboard would pop up but all I had to do was press the "Esc" key and the keyboard disappears and I was still able to type. So for those of you experiencing that with other keyboards, try the Esc key. Then maybe you won't need to download a "dummy" keyboard app.
The FN commands work exccept for the 3 and 4 (mail and browser). Calendar, Music, Previous Track, Next Track, Volume Down and Up, and Delete. Has built in Home, Back, and Menu keys. Alt + Tab brings up the Multi-tasking feature of ICS. However flipping through the apps with the keyboard is a challenge as pressing tab does not alternate. The up and down arrow keys work but it jumps up a "page" instead of flipping through one by one. Alt + Tab and then tapping on the app you want is the best method so far. Overall I like the action plus the keyboard's case serves as a handy tablet stand as well. So that is kind of a neat feature.

I have the suntech (s-tech) bluetooth keyboard. Purchased for about 20GBP from a computer mall in Hong Kong. It works brilliantly and connects simultaneously with a Dell Bluetooth travel mouse. The keyboard occasionally inputs multiple presses uncommanded and the initial connection each session is hit and miss (it's probably me though).
I just press the down cursor when the onscreen keyboard pops into viev (thumb keyboard - it's the best).
I don't travel with my laptop anymore.
The zaggkeys looks good, has anyone compared it to the apple wireless keyboard?
The Logitech - Keyboard for Android 3.0+ Tablets looks nice. I may have to go pick that up if my samsung dock does not work with my tab2
I was looking at the zaggkeys flex, but found a zaggkeys solo on ebay for 9$. Anyone tried it or know the difference?

I'll second the Freedom Pro vote. When you're using it, you can select it from the Keyboard icon in the status bar and the on-screen one no longer pops up. When you're done with the Freedom Pro, just re-select the on-screen one (SwiftKey, for me.)
The typing feel is pretty good, but the size is what won me over. I chose a 7" tablet for size, so to "lug" around a larger keyboard was counter-productive.
My Zaggkeys Solo arrived. The size is perfect, big enough to comfortably type on, small enough to easily carry around. For $9 plus $4 shipping it was way more than worth it. Paired in seconds, works great!

The seller had some listed at $19.99 and others at $9.99. Not sure why the different prices, maybe he was just trying to see what he could get for them. Anyway, there was a Make Offer option, so I offered $9, and it was accepted. This keyboard is GREAT! I have absolutely no complaints. The listing says used, but I can't find even a tiny scratch on it. It didn't come with a cable, but it's a standard, I had several already.
Just purchased a Bluetooth folding keyboard by HDE for less than US$30. It pairs easily & quickly with my P3113. Center-hinged and folds to 5 inches. Purchased it for use when traveling. Available from Amazon, buy.com and other vendors.
Samsung launched student edition Tab2, with it they are giving Keyboard and USB OTG cable for free.

It costs $249 and rumors says its coming globally on aug 19th.
So there is a hope who want samsung official keyboard for our tab 2, i am sure it will work with all other tab 2 7" edition.

I was looking for a keyboard case that would fit the Tab 2 7 on amazon and this
(search for "B00AIA5K0C" on amazon I can't post links yet).
came up. That particular "case" is for the Tab 7 Plus but I looked it up on wikipedia and the 7 plus and 2 7" are almost the exact same size. I went ahead and ordered it but didn't know if anyone knew anything more about it. When it comes in I'll let everyone know and put up pictures if I can. :good:

But as to what advantage it would provide:
1st of all, I type MUCH faster on a tactile keyboard (as most people do in reality).
2nd- tablet can be propped up on a stand and still enter test comfortably (I've found it difficult to type on a vertical screen, and placing it horizontally on my lap for a long message can negatively effect the viewing angle)
3rd- can be used remotely or when hands are dirty (think- kitchen / cooking / recipe tablet).
4th- console gaming. Nothing beats buttons for emulators.
I like that it is so portable, otherwise a full sized case + KB sort of approaches the size of a netbook which almost defeats the purpose of having this.
What I really wanted to know if these are just poor build quality or really uncomfortable to type on (I LOVED my touch pro 2 keypad, which this reminds me of, but not all kbs are created equal).
Additionally, there are other shapes and sizes, all around the same price on ebay. Seem to come from similar sellers, probably manufactured in one plant. Here's something more full sized:

update: looks too small for touch typing (as noted in amazon reviews). So I like the caps lock led (not available on any other slim BT keyboard I have checked)
Also note that Android does not support the Bluetooth HID profile (looks like the underlying stack supports it since 2.1 or 2.2 but there's nothing in the ROM).
There's a free apk that might work "bluetooth easyconnect".
I've been edging around a semi expensive ~20USD apk that definitely works with my iGo BT keyboard, but they lock to phone ID and, on the gtab, that changes when you change ROMs...

I bought the bt keyboard that aasoror linked to. I got it to pair but it never connected, I even downloaded bluetooth keyboard easy connect but it would not let me pick the keyboard in the drop down menu. What is supposed to be the pin to help me get this working with my g-tab?
I am using Vegan GE 7.0. Thanks for any help you or anyone else can provide.
Oh, it never occurred to me that we would be missing the HID profile in bluetooth!
I just assumed if the iPad does it, certainly Android has it built in (thinking back to A2DP and other stuff Android supported first).
That really stinks- are BT keyboards not an option??

I got it to work
I like it because its wireless and doesn't need a usb dongle or anything, but its hard to type on it for than a few minutes. Obviously it is a lot better than typing on the GTab but I wish it were smaller or bigger (small enough to thumb type, or big enough that it wasn't cramped and getting tiresome typing with both hands and all my fingers.)
I already had a Rii Mini Wireless keyboard from before so I thought, hell it couldn't hurt to give it a try on my GTab. And it works! Even the touchpad! I would rather use that because it is smaller (thus more portable) and it has backlighting on it. I could type in the dark! Of course there is a Bluetooth version for the Rii Mini as well (around $40), but I think I have spent enough money on keyboards for my GTab lol.

I am now thinking about a little bigger keyboard, seems suitable for touch typing.
I bought a BT keyboard off ebay for 19$ and it will not connect at all with my GTab. It will not connect w my samsung fascinate android either but will connect w my Ps3 and my ipod. Go figure.

I've been using the Apple bt keyboard. It works but it's not ideal. So consider it an anti-recommendation but it will work in a pinch.

Thanks for the tip. I saw that in a store, but I had not started looking for a physical keyboard for the Flyer at that time... so I didn't think about using it for this purpose.
I can see that it would work for organizing the Flyer and the Apple BT keyboard. I do have the Apple BT keyboard, so it's good to know that it will work.

Even though it is not expensive, it is still a high price for some covered cardboard with velcro on it. haha.
I tried the Xoom keyboard from Motorola. You have to follow the computer pairing instructions instead of the ones for Xoom.
The keyboard generally works fine but the android keys - back, home, etc - do not. Definitely suboptimal but enough for typing an email.

Actually i've been using mine with Apple's BT keyboard and it works like a charm!! All i have to do is turn on bluetooth for both devices and they pair straight up (after initial setups of course) The only downside i have is that the keyboard D-pad input is locked in vertical orientation (so when you type "up" it'll end up being "right" in horizontal orientation) and also that you can't type in other languages even using english based input (Japanese Roomaji or Chinese Pinyin) But otherwise, it's a beautiful keyboard that matches the colour to the flyer very well
I can say that the igo keyboard does not work. My flyer will see it, but I can't pair nor connect. It is very disappointing -_-

I am using a keyboard case originally for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 inch on clearance for 24.99 from ThinkGeek
The android keys work except the back key. Flyer fits well. Camera does not quite line up. Pairing is quick. Reconnection works well - turn keyboard off then on instead of using link key.
Problem is capacitive buttons are covered up and with back button not working it is sometimes a pain. Wonder if capacitive buttons can be locked at bottom (in portrait mode) or to right in landscape mode?
I just ordered the Freedom Pro Bluetooth Keyboard off of amazon. When I get it I will post up a review.

I just got the Verbatim last week. Pairs and reconnects quickly. "Home" and "menu" keys do not work. Volume keys work. Arrow keys work well in portrait orientation. Occasionally repeats characters like a key gets stuck - especially when hitting the keys hard. A soft touch works better. Folds nicely and fits in my coat pocket and came with a case. Cheaper than the Freedom keyboard.

Got my flyer on Friday and have had a chance to play with the keyboard. So far it is working well. I haven't noticed the key repeating problems I had with the Nook Color. OTOH, I've only spent a few minutes with it.
So far, though, I think this is probably the bluetooth keyboard bargain. It's fairly portable and typed reasonably well. It's not as comfortable as a full size keyboard, but I can easily see myself getting used to it.
This keyboard works for me. Directional arrows move the right direction. Can type in notes app. Can't seem to navigate my folder shortcuts on homescreen, though.

I have the Bluetooth version of this (the one link has a receiver dongle) and it's very nice for a small keyboard. When I was a big keyboard I use the Apple BT keyboard, the aluminum one, which I use with my laptop when it's docked.

It works great with my Evo View 4G for typing, the arrow buttons, and the volume buttons.
The app specific buttons, however (ie launch web browser etc), don't work. They work only with his Iconia Tab.
Is there a way to make them work with the Flyer/Evo View?
Or is there a better Flyer/Evo View-specific keyboard?

I bought myself one today for the HTC Flyer from Maplin in Derby. It cost me £29.99.
The dimensions are: 218 x 92 x 22mm. It has 78 keys, etc.
I am very pleased to have bought this one, after buying the hopeless one advertised for HTC Flyer on amazon dot co dot uk - hopeless because the size is completely wrong.
If you head to Maplin, the keyboard is called "Mini Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad and iPhone". It is by "Cerulian Technology". If you want the product code, it is "Code: N53JN".

i'm using the logitech for andriod 3.0+ it's pretty nice great size buttons are very nice. so far good batt life. runs on 2 AAA. comes with a case that doubles as a stand for your flyer while ur typing... *pretty handy* the main android buttons work. but same as you. it seems that the shortcuts for the keyboard to oen music and web don't work. but if i'm in the music app the play pause ffwd and rewind buttons work fine... so it must be something with the diff versions of honeycomb. and what the shortcuts are called or something. i think i payed around 50 for it on amazon. free shipping
For my money, the best bluetooth keyboard, bar none, is the iGo stowaway keyboard. The thing is amazing. It folds up into a package about half the size of the Flyer and about 1/4 the weight. Key travel and feedback is very good and the keys are nice and big. There are some compromises. There are no dedicated number keys, for instance. You type numbers by holding down a function key and typing from the top row of letter keys (Which have numbers labelled in blue beneath the letters). But the device is solid, and bluetooth connectivity is excellent. I never get repeated keys like I did sometimes with my other bluetooth keyboard.
The biggest downside is that the keyboard is no longer manufactured. You have to find a used on on eBay, and they can easily fetch $200.00 because they are so sought after. However, there is one trick to getting a cheap one: find the Dell version. Dell sold these things under license some time ago for use with a Dell Axim PDA. It's the exact same keyboard, but because not many people are aware of it, you can get them for about 1/3 the going rate of an iGo. I paid about $70.00 shipped for mine a couple of weeks ago.
I got a Zagg Keys Solo wireless keyboard for Christmas. Works well- even has some Android specific keys. The Flyer is actually listed as a compatible device on the website as well. But not all keys work-but works great if you need to do extended typing.
personally, i use the apple bluetooth keyboard. It works nice. I use an app for having it in AZERTY mode. The shortcut for sound or brightness don't work.
HP Touchpad keyboard, now discontinued and under £25, really really well made and a joy to type on. Works 100% with my flyer.

You can actually remap keys on a keyboard. Not easy but you can do it if you are patient.

It also supports remapping keycodes for volume buttons etc. but the keycodes supported differes a lot between Android releases (different API versions) as you can see here: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/KeyEvent.html#KEYCODE_0
Also some keycodes like HOME are handled early in the OS and cannot be remapped unless you do it the hard way on a rooted device.
But you can do a lot with my app and it includes a lot of premade layouts.

The home, back, menu, etc.. buttons all worked. Volume control to.
Has a little track pad that moves a cursor around on screen like a mouse.
And its small, like using cell phone keypad.
Plus has a laser pointer so you get the added enjoyment of making your cat or dog run around chasing it.
Interesting. It sounded like the Rii mini Bluetooth keyboard from your description so I went to Ebay to see. Looks like a Rii clone especially since they mention ”better than Rii” in the description. How well does multitouch work on that tiny touchpad. I felt the Rii keys were rather small. Do you find the keys tiny, considering that they've added quite a few extra keys over what the Rii has? When I bought my Rii, the Bluetooth version was about $45 if you searched for deals, easily $60 if you didn't. So if this keyboard works as well as the Rii for half the price it's a great deal.

Touchpad works fine. Its small like a square inch or so in size so you gotta pick your thumb up off it and go back to bottom of it to move it all the way across screen. You can just tap it as well to click something like a laptop.
Keys size seems fine to me as well. If your gonna be typing alot maybe a bigger one is best. I have my tablet installed in a cars dash and this works well to type in web/gps addresses
I have a similar keyboard. Can anybody give me any clues on how to pair it with the flyer please?
I have turned Bluetooth on, and tried scanning for devices.

Long press the power switch until the connect light blinks, blue if I remember correctly. The to actually pair enter the number, use 0000 or 1234, by typing those digits on the Bluetooth keyboard then enter.

My version came from Amazon. It has a sliding on/ off switch on the end, and a big red button which I think it's for pairing on the top left of the keyboard.
The box clearly states suitable for android 2.1 or higher, but I haven't been able to get it to be seen by my stock xperia active, or routed flyer running honeycomb.
I will try it with my Windows 7 laptop and let you know how I get on, but of anybody has any ideas it would be great to hear from you.

To use my Xperia Tablet Z profesionally, I realized that I need a physical keyboard. For the onscreen keyboard I installed Swiftkey and I'm satisfied with it compared to other onscreen keyboards but it is no competition for a physical one.
I looked around on various sites e.g. Amazon but unfortunately there is no case with integrated bluetooth keyboard has been designed specifically for the XTZ. There are enough bulky, generic cases with keyboards out there but let's be honest... we hate bulky crap! If you bought an XTZ you want a clean and professional looking case. :cyclops:
The Kensington KeyFolio Expert Folio & Keyboard for Android/Windows tablets appealed to me because of it's interesting micro-suction technique to hold the tablet in place. I decided to give it a try and was able to order one for EUR 50,-.
I'm sharing a couple of pics for you guys to see what it looks like together with the XTZ. The keyboard fits my needs perfectly and pressing any key works to wake up tablet. The dimensions of the XTZ seem perfect for this case and so I must say I am satisfied. Especially because this case allows a position where you can charge from the micro usb port! That darn micro usb port has finally been owned

Doesn't look too bad considering the others I've seen online. I needed something similar but went for a separate logitech bluetooth keyboard and the poetic case. In my job I need the ability to type quickly while sat in an office but also to take the tablet out around steel plants and take notes where I couldn't use the case keyboard. How do you find using the XTZ as a normal tablet with the on screen keyboard in that case? I can just imagine that having to keep changing the input method in settings each time I wanted to use Swiftkey instead of the cases keyboard would be a bit of a nuisance.
does the keyboard consume quickly the battery?
Could you please link the case that you bought? Tried searching for it but found alot of different version both for the iPad and stuff. Would be nice if you could paste a direct link to the case so I dont make any mistake if I buy one.

As long as the "Apple" keyboards use bluetooth you should be good. Most keyboard will work with the XTZ, it just boils down to personal preference.

There are a lot of iPad keyboard cases at BestBuy so you could go look at them and see if theyd fit.

Something I and maybe others have not thought off,because if we can use an APPLE Keyboard then the choices really do increase,from 2-3 good keyboards,Kensington,Zagg e.t.c to a very wide choice.
Would love to hear from folk who have being using APPLE pads and how they find them

The only reason you would not want to use it is if it has some proprietary Apple connection that is what it communicates via. If it uses bluetooth you should be fine.
Ive recently found a sharp looking Nexus 10 keyboard that looks like it should work, the only thing I am worried about is that the case has the rounded edges for the Nexus tablets instead of the sharp square ones like our tablet has.

I believe you would be wasting your time because the case is dimensionally and geometrically incompatible with the XTZ. Even its cutouts are in the wrong locations. The case also looks bulky, heavy (15.2 ounces), and God-awful ugly.

I don't think it looks that bad for a keyboard case, it looks a lot better than most and out of all the keyboard cases I've seen it looks the best. It is going to weigh quite a bit because of what it is, if Sony made a KB case for the XTZ it would be nice and sleek but until then we have to ,odify cases that have been released for other tablets that are going to be bulkier.
The weight is on par with other keyboard cases and will be about the same as the Surface KB case that someone has already confirmed worked for our tablet
A for the geometrical imperfections I plan on making some modifications to the case to hopefully make it work, it may not in the long run but I plan on eventually getting a Nexus 10 so if I think there is no possible way it will ever work once i get it I will just hang on to it.
The cutouts are going to be wrong on every KB case until Sony or someone else releases one specifically for the XTZ.
All that being said I may just go with the Surface case for a KB case, I just don't particularly case for it but beggars can't be choosers.
