Milestone x2 cm9 update? - Motorola Droid X2

I am trying to install this on Milestone X2 to see if we can get it. I am getting a kernal check error. I tried wiping the kernal check stuff before that we had to do with Ace's MUIU and CM7. But that did not work. Does anyone else have any suggestions to try?

I figured it out. If anyone wants me to post it let me know.

I'd say go ahead and post if it works. I'm sure the MX2 users want a taste of this as well

Eclipse on Milestone X2

I finally braved the urge and flashed Eclipse just now without a hitch as well as RR... wifi doesnt work as others with the droid x2. Ill play around and see what else I come up with.
Im with CSpire and flashed from stock 2.3.6 no SBFing or anything. If others want to try do so at your own risk and as usual... NANDROID FIRST!
Issues I came across...
Wifi
App Drawer sticks occaionally
I wanted to try this but the tutorial said that you had to SBF back to 2.3.4 and I was like....I'm on Cspire. Glad to hear it worked. Think I'm ready to experiment now.
I finally got the nerve to flash Eclipse on my milestone x2 despite not having a sbf. Everything seems to work great with the exception of WIFI and WIFI Tether. The WIFI Tether app appears to be configured only for Verizon customers
You guys look for a 235/413 based rom & wifi should work.
Caution since you have no sbf DO Not mess w/ VooDoo & eclipse. Or any rom for safety: there is NO need to have the SU backup present when you guys flash. Just delete the su backup. No need to uninstall though.

Mods
Just rooted my MMX2 with CSpire 2.3.6 and had no problems doing it.
I had cyanogenmod on my Desire and wanted something similar. What is recommended and best way of installing?
Thanks
The op for CM7 is good YOU will have no wifi.
To all Mx2 users: JUST DO NOT LEAVE CWR W/O FLASHING ReRecovery, make it routine.
Edit this is a tough one I will have to verify this on my dx2 but the rule would be use RR.dx2 until you actually flash cm7.zip & in that same cwr session flash RR.dx2.cm7. Note same for Miui .
---------- Post added at 08:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:09 AM ----------
Wait there is a kernel check for both cm & miui so no good. There is a script work around see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520831&highlight=miui
I tried to flash CM7 after Eclipse and it wouldn't work.
Sent from my cellular device using an app.
Right , follow the link.
Ah thanks, ill look into it further. Thanx!

Flashed this a little over a day ago on my milestone x2 on a local carrier...only things that I've found so far that do not work are the wifi and sending picture text messages...other than that love the fact I don't have random reboots and lag which is a huge pet peeve lol

[Q] Got a couple ?s about kernels

Ok guys ive been running AOKP milestone 4 for over a week now and am loving it. I follow the forums kinda closely and see most people are running custom kernels. Now ive tried a Glitch kernel while I was on TSH 6.5. Loved the speed and CPU tweeks, however as soon as I would flash it I would loose my 3G. Everytime this would happen. In addition to not being able to successfully do a backup. So I went back to stock.
So now that Im on AOKP 4 I see some of yous are still running a glitch kernel so I tried to put one one yesterday.....I saw the Glitch splash screen(BTW I am still trying to figure how to change splash screens ...so if anyone learned something new... ) and thats the last thing I saw. LOL It just froze on that screen. Had to go back to stock and rebuild.
So does anyone have an idea of compatible kernel for AOKP 4 with maybe an idea of what I did wrong.
Before you guys jump on me and tell to look on other threads, I have. I dont post unless Im truely stuck.

In order to get the Glitch splash screen you will need to Odin Gingerbread bootloaders.
As for you losing 3g, that tells me you're flashing the wrong version of Glitch. (or you're not on Verizon)
Ssewk2x fixed the nandroid failure for the most part in his latest test kernel as well, he has a Dropbox link up somewhere. Search through his posts if you need it. This kernel should also be compatible with AOKP M4 so it's your best bet.
I am def on Verizon. And as for the proper version of the kernel, I was simply flashing the same version everyone else said they were running. B5 V14 i think it was.
Whatcha mean GB bootloader?
i just tried to flash V14 B5 for ths build 6 which seems to be what others are running again, and yet again no 3G. cant find a fix for it. Oh well stock kernel for me for now i guess.

If you are using build 6 you should be flashing the kernel that specifically says it's for build 6.
Why are you flashing build 6 anyway? It's outdated by two releases, build 7 just came out this afternoon.
There's no fix for it because nothing is broken.
EDIT* I flashed 6.1 and i got 3G
No Im running AOKP milestone 4

I haven't looked at this MOD for a long ass time, so I really can't help you there.

[Q] Milestone x2 on 2.3.6

I'm a noob. I have a cdma version of the Milestone x2 running 2.3.6 rooted. I was wanting to know should I install a custom rom or nandroid port. What are my options , I want everything to work ( just work faster ). Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yea, thats the first thing you always do. Make a backup and store it some place safe. THEN start experimenting lol.
Ok, got the backup made, flashed Eclipse 2.2.1. I like this much better than stock. Last night I was tinkering with it and installed Supercharger v6 script on it. I ran several different options and then after restarting, it was constantly on roaming for data. It was fine before, I flashed my backup back onto it and re did everything. It is back to normal. Does anyone know why it would be on roaming. Thanks for being patient with a new guy. People on here are a great help

Not sure but you can always check your settings. I had a rom on one of mine a while back and it came as default to rain outside of my home area somehow. Also, try to update the PRL. Not sure how to do it with your carrier. Mine is *228(Alltel) .
Also, how did you do your back up? Im wanting a custom ROM on mine but I have no ABC if all foes bad and I'm not sure I could do a Nandroid.

You have to install BSR first. After that, power off your phone and plug it into your charger. It will take you to recovery so you can make a backup, install roms, etc...

2.3.6 Rom?
Skinzaholic:
I have a MX2 which belonged to my brother (a technologically inept moron who took the 2.3.6 update). I was finally able to gain root yesterday, and since then I've been looking for a custom rom to get rid of motoblur. Everything I've read about eclipse says that it's for 2.3.4/2.3.5 only, and will not work for 2.3.6. When you flashed it, was it fully functional for you?

All great advice. Just remember you bsr is trash when you wipe system OR data!!
Or even the rom fails to boot. Almost anything can upset bsr on the quaint Dx2. Or the Mx2 same phone ReRecovery works on it also.

Rerecovery has never worked for me.
Also all Roms work on 2.3.6. The down side is it is not downgradable. Check out the mx2 folder in my android crap folder. The link is in my signature. I kept the zips for several Roms in there. If the gapps aren't there Google for them.

Sorry to hear that. You need to "roll your own" see the latter portion of the 3rd post.
Known issue-it just won't take on some mx2's.

[Q] Question on Flashing Roms

First I want to thank everyone on this forum for all the nice work, and great information. Now my question, My wife and I both have Droid x2 phones, and have both seen increased issues since the 2.3.5 OTA from Verizon. I am a very tech-savy guy, I do IT for a living, but still am not 100% comfortable with flashing phones. I have SBF'd my Droid x2 a few times, and finally got the courage to flash Eclipse 2.3 on it. I would like to explore some different roms, but am wonder how to tell which stock(2.3.4 or 2.3.5) I should have installed before flashing a rom? I did read that Eclipse 2.3 you needed to be stock 2.3.5, but I am looking at CM7 and CM9, but could not see where it was stated to be on 2.3.4 or 2.3.5. Would someone be so kind as to give me a bit of incite on this. Does a rom have to say it is for you phone to flash it? example I was looking at CM10, jellybean rom but do not see it listed for the droid x2?
Thanks for all your help
Belongs in Droid X2 Q&A

yes sir it MUST be in the droid x2 forums. and in order to go to ANY other rom from eclipse (since you OTA'd to 2.3.5) is to sbf . you can make an sbf disc im sure you can find in the main dx2 forum. its super easy, i have done it dozens of times. but that is the only way to get back to 2.3.4 and try out cm7, cm9, or the other ports. all of these are only partially working. just so you know. eclipse is most likely the best we have, but the others are still awesome to try out, they just have bugs. or non working parts.
