Yes, it definitely requires an Internet connection. That's how you get the weather, web searches or anything else that you're looking for.

ya,,how can that be possible w/o internet...

I'd like to know if it requires the internet to interpret what you are saying;
Eg. "open the camera" would that require data?

Really, so how are people using it on the HOX & Note?
Or
Are you saying that Sammy have recently blocked it?
Is there a source?
Cheers

I've been checking and haven't found settings yet. I think they do a little more than the Motorola RAZR does. I've gone so far as to enable the hotspot feature (paid) to compare it to the entries with it not activated and the only setting I found did not work - it still checked the entitlement.
You're in the wrong forum... This one is for the international S3 with the device number i9300.
Aftermarket Tethering apps should work fine though if you're rooted. Some custom roms may also include the feature.

Most of the aftermarket apps will work - but if he is like me he would rather be able to use the built in one. I know there is a widget out that will enable the built in one, but I'm not a java programmer and even after decompiling the .apk to a .jar I'm having trouble following it.
Anywho, can somone move this into the correct forum for the Verizon one then please.
Thanks.

Ad-hoc patch support

Hi
I have searched but it has not been mentioned for a while.
Is anyone working on it?
Is it hard to do?
I need it as ny computer doesn't support AP
Thanks

All I know is the people who make the Ad Hoc Enabler App removed it from the market to update it so I guess that might mean they working on it, but haven't heard of anyone seriously working on it.

Me too.
My Wife only has a Nokia N82 and the only way to Tether with that is over Ad-Hoc, and since no one's figured it out yet I'm gonna say yes it is hard.

Can I root my phone using just my phone or do I have to use a computer. I don't have a computer right now. I am wanting to get 3g speeds on my unlocked phone. I'm using it on cincinnati bell.

I can't say it'll be easy without a computer but if you use Mobile-Odin and flash this. It'll install SuperSU and ClockWorkMod but I'd recommend holding off until you have a computer (its just easier on a computer)
Also, you won't magically achieve 3g speeds on your phone if you root it.. You may want to research into that a bit more before you take this plunge unnecessarily.
Ok ill wait. I had a s2 that I rooted. Do u know how I can get 3g speeds. I have researched this and havnt found ne thing

Your phone supports 3g right out of the box.. Maybe your carrier has restricted your service to 2g or you don't have coverage in your area.
No, you can`t root your phone from the phone afaik and Mobile Odin needs root before you can use it

Yes, you can, read my reply
Of course the device needs to be rooted for Mobile Odin to work. Quote from the dev:
"Your device must be rooted to be able to use Mobile ODIN"
Otherwise it would mean that ANY app can simply overwrite or rewrite your firmware which in itself would be a major security risk.

That's exactly the way I did it.
-Rooted with exynos abuse 1.40 (phone was on 4.1.1)
-installed mobile odin for flashing recovery and kernel
After that I could do everything out of CWM.
So my S3 never saw a pc

Does any one have a link to exynos? And I'm running stock 4.0.4 right now. Also I know unit really supposed to ask and is your own preference but I'm just curious what are the more popular stable roms out there. I like themes a lot lol. But I want one that has decent battery stats and can boost my Internet speed. I know that's possible bc a guy at a phone store had his rooted and on cincinnati bell and he had a lot my options than me.

[REQ] Galaxy Mega Wi-Fi calling apk.

Sprint just announced Wi-Fi calling for the Galaxy mega.
I'd like to get this working for on my Note 3, but I need the .apk would anyone who has it be so kind as to PM it to me?
Bump! I would like to see this ported to the HTC One as well.
I know someone with a Mega, I'll try to get it from him if he's on Sprint.

Installed the APK. This app is set to start on boot but it seems to force close every boot on my Sprint Galaxy S3. Has this APK worked for any devices other than the Mega?
Can someone who has this working on the Mega make a Wi-FI call and disconnect Wi-FI during the call to see what happens? Thanks.
---------- Post added at 12:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:29 AM ----------
It appears that you need to follow this procedure to activate wifi calling on the mega: http://support.sprint.com/support/tutorial/Activate_WiFi_calling/50395-1828
The issue is that I can't even open the app after it's installed on my S3 so I'm assuming the apk is set up only to work on the mega.
If anyone finds a workaround, please share!

Thanks again for sharing! I will make an attempt on my HTC ONE. I just have a couple of questions:
Is it installed as a system app?
How was the activation process?

Yes it was a system app. It activated fine. I did notice it make my phone switch to CDMA and stuck there until I changed it manually and rebooted.

It is an APK
It's all good.. I got fed up with it popping up every time I changed connections saying there was an update and it would always just close out instead of updating. So I just browsed the data files to see where it was polling the updates from. Apparently there's a lot of other beta and test apks here too https://d232zqrqpzoqzi.cloudfront.net/files/public/
Can I ask the stupid question in what this does? I already got it just wondered.
