no you will soft brick not be able to boot and will have a s off gb hboot with a HC system.
you can either research how to downgrade to a non s off hboot then take the ota or you can upgrade to hc using the easy s off hc thread in development
personally keepig s off will give you an easy route back and forth between hc and gb in case you do not like hc.

I was new to HTC devices with my Flyer and I can say as always there is no substitute to reading
ok. why does an OTA cause a soft brick? When you s off you replace the stock Hboot with a patched one that allows you to flash custom recovery and root. If you are on a s off GB set up and you run a RUU for stock GB if you go into hboot you will see you are still s off. The Hboot will not allow itself to be over written. Now if you OTA you find yourself in the same position. The ota if it runs at all will re write your system and recovery as well as radio but will not be able to over write the s off hboot. This will lead to a system that does not boot and worse yet a system that will not likely charge. If you run out of charge you will be in real trouble as the Flyer will not charge when plugged in. Others have managed to take thier Flyer appart and charge the battery seperated from their Flyer (got to love non removable batteries )
If in this state the simple sollution is to flash a gb ruu which should get you back up an running, provided you have enough charge in your battery
now if your goal is to try Lee Droid's HC rom here is your best approach. Since you are already s off GB you are at a good starting point. Down load the rom from lee's thread but do not flash yet. Look in the development section for globatron's easy s off hc thread. Download the light package which will change your hboot to s off hc. follow instructions to flash this package through fastboot. once this is done get into recovery and flash lee droid. you should be fine.
If you ever want to go back to GB post 3 of the same thread has a downgrade package you can flash in fastboot. This again is just the hboot, recovery, and radio and will not boot on its own. After flash of this you will need to either run a GB RUU or flash a GB Rom.
These 2 light packages are an easy portal back and forth between gb and hc. if you make a nandroid back up of both gb and hc you can restore after you flash to the correct base

Bootloop need help please

I am caught in a bootloop and can't figure out what to do. I can get into the fast boot but when I try to restore or install a new rom, it goes back into bootloop showing the htc logo.
The background information is that I had rooted and installed a custom when I got it then didnt use it much for the last 6 months. When I started using it again I wanted to update the rom but was having problems getting it to load so I decided to load the original rom thinking I would start ovter again from scratch. seemed to work I updated via the OTA to two versions of GB but when I installed the HC update it stuck on the HTC screen. I havent been able to get it to do anything since.
Any help would be appreciated.
Anyone?
please I love my flyer
So you tried to install the ota on rooted s off device. That was your issue. You likely have a miss match of hboot and system.
Get into hboot and tell us what it says up top. Version and if it says s off or on

thanks for the reply
I believe all you have to do is follow the steps from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358758
you already have a s off gingerbread hboot. I would power down and charge your device for a couple of hours before attempting. I think you should be able to fastboot flash the approriate package and or run the appropriate ruu and it will ultimatley replace the gb hboot with a hc hboot and flash the remainder of the system.
your problem as I mentioned is that the s off gb hboot could not be over writen by the ota update and so you are in a sittuation where your hboot does not match your system and radio. Before attempting it you may want to post your sittuation in the thread. Globatron is very active and usually quick to repsond. Just be concise with what you did to get to your state

What is RUU?

What is RUU and what does it mean to me? I am rooted but on stock GB. Trying to decide if I should go to stock HC or an HC ROM or wait for a working ICS ROM. Any suggestions?

RUU stands for ROM Update Utility. You would have probably had to use it to gain root. The method I used did. If you flashed CWM recovery you can install any ROM developed for the Flyer. I've tried DeSensified v2.0 and CleanROM. Both are good. There are trade-offs in going to HC. Better rendering of apps designed for tablets but occasional wifi disconnect and reconnect. A stable ICS build for this device may be a bit of a wait.

Also, the RUU is usually packed in a zip file which contains not only the utility itself, but also the ROM. You save the RUU to your PC, upzip the contents, then run the RUU.exe with your Android device connected to the PC via USB.
RUU often refers to an "official" ROM release from the manufacturer. Although the devs will sometimes pack their work into an RUU. For instance, I think globatron did this with the HC upgrade, due to the fact the Hboot also needs to be updated when going from GB to HC.
Speaking of which, if you are S-Off and rooted, globatron's method is the way to go, if you want to upgrade to stock HC. Or if you want to install a HC custom ROM for that matter. As mentioned before, the HBoot is different, so you can't just install a HC custom ROM from GB. Once you install the HC Hboot, you can go between whatever HC ROMS you want.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358758
You DO NOT want to use an "official" RUU if you are rooted and S-Off. You will lose root.

[Q] Stuck on HTC loading screen after trying gingerbread downgrade, any ideas?

Hi all,
I was trying to downgrade my HTC Flyer (3G and WiFi EU version, HTC_001) to gingerbread. Everything seemed to work as instructed but I'm now stuck on the white loading screen with the HTC logo on it, and can neither boot or communicate with the device.
For the downgrade I followed the instructions on this thread really carefully:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428104
I was using the 2.23.405.3 RUU.
To begin with, I'd upgraded to honeycomb by following Paul's guide, that had all been working fine for the last 6 months or so.
I've managed to power down the flyer through the adb fastboot, but that's as far as I can get. I'm not very experienced with this, so if anyone can make some suggestions on steps I could take to get my flyer working again I'd really appreciate it.
Many thanks,
Andii
Get into hboot and tell me your hboot version and if it says unlocked. I think you followed the wrong procedure and likely have hc hboot with gb system or something like that
Hi,
Thank you for replying. My Hboot is 6.11.1111
Does it say unlocked at the top or s off
Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using xda premium
I don't know, because it won't turn on now...
when I went through the process of the downgrade, at one point it gave me an instruction which involved locking. The command prompt said it was "already locked".
If it is not charging you will have to try to charge the battery independent of your flyer. There are some threads showing how to do this. Google it. I think you were soff hc and you flashed gb. The ruu can not overwrite the soff hboot so you are left with miss match parts thus no charge

Thanks so much for your help. I've found some of those threads; I've gotta say, It looks pretty complex and I think taking it apart is way beyond my capacity to sort. Rather regretting getting into this now, lesson learned! Is there no other option? If I send it off, obviously my warranty is voided, but will they repair it (at my cost of course)?
I'll read the charging threads thoroughly, but am really anxious about the process.
They should be able to repair it easily

Greets,
I've more or less exactly the same problem. I was on some Leedroid Custom HC version. For upgrading to a newer Leedroid Version I was downgrading back to Gingerbread using globatrons Downgrade Thread.
Worked fine until first reboot.
First I used RUU_Flyer_TMO_DE_2.27.111.1 (cause I have a 3G/Wifi T-Mobile branded device)
and later I tried again via this RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_2.23.405.3 (Stock version?!)
Still not working.
Here some details:
I still can access this revolutionary Bootloader (Vol Down + Power) and I think fastboot commands are still useable.
Here's what is written there
FLYER PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBoot Version is 6.11.1111
MICROP-0950
RADIO-3809.07.04.06_M
eMMC-boot
You have an idea how to fix it?
Thanks in advance !

Hej,
I used the downgrade procedure from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18508210&postcount=1 starting from "Downgrade".
I didn't create a goldcard, I was "just" using the RUUs mentioned in my last post.
Thx!
Your hboot said s off. To me that means you had s off hc which could not be downgraded using the method you tried. You likely have hc hboot and gb system. Go to easy s off hc thread and look at post 3. Download the correct downgrade package, 3G or wifi, follow instructions. Then flash gb ruu or gb rom

Hey Mcord,
thank you very much for your help, worked fine for me!
Now I just set up the gingerbread base (in S-OFF) on which I can install my ROM, didn't I?
It's written in the post that I can use the base for installing a HC Custom ROM (which was my intention) - can I just drop the Leedroid-ROM-ZIP on my SDcard and install it right away via the Bootloader?
Thanks again!
You have me all confused now. You were on hc with s off, why were you looking to go back to gingerbread? You could of just flashed the rom. Now you are on gb s off. To be able to flash hc roms use light package in op of same thread to get back to hc s off then flash lee rom.
What made you think you had to go back to gingerbread
I read somewhere in here http://www.modaco.com/topic/345950-...g-honeycomb-on-your-flyer-the-complete-guide/ that you need to go back to Gingerbread before installing another HC custom release. I was wondering a bit myself, though.
In Leedroid FAQ also globatron's instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19607802&postcount=1) are linked at the Install FAQ. So I was just working off the instructions. First time flashing to Honeycomb was also more or less like this - I was on some GB version and I had to downgrade to a lesser version number of GB before actually going to Leedroids HC release; so this time I was not questioning myself for a sense behind it ^^
With light package I guess you mean the Instructions Part 2 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19607802&postcount=1 this thread?
3 has the light updates meant to be used if you intend on flashing a rom immediately. You got confused a bit with s off and htc dev unlock. You were s off and free to flash roms

Flyer back from repair Hboot 1.11.00.11 HC

Hi I just got my flyer back from repair htc it was stock gingerbread when it went in even though I requested not to upgrade it in written notice they did the upgrade to honeycomb I want to get it back down to gingerbread what are my options from here Hboot reads s-on Hboot 1.11.00.11 any help would be appreciated to get me back to gingerbread
There are a couple of full length treads on this. Take a look in the development section
Its ok i managed to do it all back to gingerbread with s off and custom recovery.
How?
How did you s-off?
I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428104
HC root
I upgraded to HC using a OTA update and have Hboot 1.11.00.11. Device is a bestbuy wifi model. It has never been rooted, completely virgin. I would like to root to use apps requiring root access. I have collected that I will need to downgrade back to GB in order to do this. Is there a way that I can downgrade to GB, root, then upgrade back to HC? or will I have to keep GB? I just want to stay with a stock rom for the time being.
Thanks.
yes
there is a thread in development by globatron that spells out how to downgrade without htc dev unlock
once on GB you can use revolutionary to gain s off then follow globatron's easy hc s off thread
Ok, the downgrade thread you talk about is this: Here
Then use this thread to get S-OFF on GB: Here
Then use step two of this thread: Here
Is this correct?
yep
Also, one last question. When globatron says "Run your RUU" what does he mean?
A ruu is a exe file that contains and flashes the stock firm ware for your flyer. There are many variations
Ah ok, thanks! I thought it was similar to a rom file and needed to be loaded on your device and flashed in a special way. Thanks!

[Q] Black screen after loading NexusFlyer 1.2 on OTA NC Flyer...

My 16gb HTC Flyer was running the OTA HC load and I decided to upgrade to a Jelly Bean ROM. After loading CWM (Flyer_CWM-Based_Recovery_6.0.1.1_HC.zip) recovery successfully, I loaded the NexusFlyer v1.2 ROM on the SD card and rebooted into CWM and did wipe data/factory partition and wiped the cache. Then I installed the new ROM and it rebooted.... to a never ending black screen. I had to load cwm-4.0.1.4-flyer.img just for the power off option, so I could shut it off.
Here is info on my Flyer:
HBOOT 1.11.0011
Radio 3822.10.00.07-M
Can anyone point me toward my best bet to get my flyer back up and running? Everything I'm finding is asking for specific version of HBOOT like 1.11.0003 for revolutionary load. At this point, I'd be happy just getting Honeycomb back, but ICS/JB would be better obviously.
Any help would be appreciated!
Sounds like you are not s off. Run your hc ruu of flash a hc ROM like virtuous that does not use a custom kernel

You are correct, it is still S-ON. I assumed (wrongly...) that I wouldn't need it, as I've burned several ROMs on my Evo 3D with S-ON. Looking as downgrading to GB to get 1.11.0003, so I can use revolutionary to get S-OFF.
Thank you!
Well, so far, i'm failing...
I followed the steps at: Downgrade from HC beta leaks or official HC OTA to Gingerbread. and the RUU install fails saying "Unknown error: 155" I'm back into my boot loader, but otherwise it doesn't look like I can update via the RUU that I chose (RUU_Flyer_BrightstarUS_WWE_1.36.1540.32_R_Radio_20.3501.30.089BU_3809.05.04.10_M_release_191425_signed.exe).
Can I install any rom.zip files with S-ON or can I only update via RUU?
Thanks for any advice!
Other than update via RUU to an older HBOOT (older than 1.11.0011)... can I S-OFF any other ways (other than Revolutionary)?
Got past the part above by relocking HTC bootloader and the RUU loaded just fine. Then I ran revolutionary and it seemed to install fine with S-OFF. Afterwards, I installed CWM 4 and tried to burn nexusflyer v1.2 again only to get stuck at the white HTC screen on boot. I did find some stuff online about pushing boot.img from nexus flyer directly through fastboot, so I went ahead with that. No change...
I reran the RUU and am now back on a stock GB rom and am stuck with a seemingly non-upgradeable tablet.
any ideas why I'd get stuck at the white HTC screen after installing rom via CWM?

Any particular HC ROM? Since I have successfully run Revolutionary, i should be able to just burn any HC rom, right?
You need honey comb hboot first
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358758
Then you solo be soff honey comb and can flash freely
Flyer
To flash any HC, ICS or JB custom ROMs, you need to be on the HC hboot.
To flash any GB custom ROM, you need to be on the GB hboot.
Also, if you are S-On, you need to extract boot.img from the ROM file, then flash it via fastboot. But sounds like you are S-Off now.
Ok, I was under the impression that if I used the revolutionary utility to gain S-OFF (while also replacing the OEM HBOOT) that I'd be able to flash any rom.
Here is what I've done so far:
1. started with OEM HC with 1.11.0011 hboot
2. unlocked bootloader using HTCDevs.com
3. Used GB RUU to downgrade to 1.11.0000, to flash revolutionary.
4. Ran revolutionary, which replaced hboot with 6.10.1002 and loaded CWM 4.
So, understanding that I need to be using a HC rom to get to Jelly bean, will this replace my hboot or do I need to be S-ON again? I'm not really sure where to go from here, as I've tried flashing a HC rom and keep going back to a black screen. I thought I needed to be at S-OFF to get it to work, but have I headed down the wrong path?
I will try the post you suggested, mcord11758 and will report back.
I appreciate all the help.
Follow the procedure from the link i last posted

Sure, enough. Following the post above worked like a champ. Thank you for all the help!
