If moto unlock the bootloader finally we can use ur phone to its fullest
Let's hope that the new ceo and the new team will love us XD

the bootloader being locked is all down to the service providers wanting it locked and Motorola doing what they are told , its all about product power , take Samsung their phones sell now matter what and service providers know this hence they cant force Samsung to lock bootloaders , samsung can basically do what they want and service providers have to take it, where as motorola dont have that control over the service providers and with google being run by eliments within Us government there as alot more other agendas we have no idea about

It's against FCC policies to lock our bootloader, it stops us from putting the OS we want on our devices.
Verizons main revenue stream is Motorola droid phones, they need Motorola.
You're also thinking too small, but why is it that on all other carriers, the bootloader is locked?

Really??? No Say Sherlock - I didn't knew that...

I dunno about moto... but I bought a TF300T transformer tablet over the weekend. I remember signing a petition to unlock the bootloader the next day.
BAM. Asus has issued a bootloader unlock, telling you if you use it, you're pretty much up the creek on warranty.
But man... do I respect ASUS now. I haven't unlocked the BL yet; but if and when I want to I can, and take responsibility for the device. Now that's the way to treat a customer; give them choices, and if you have to give responsibility along with the choice, be clear about it.
Moto could take a lesson here, but I doubt they will. Asus ROX! I wish they made phones

I Can't Wait!

I asked motorola in facebook, also did kholks and they gave to me same answer about dev razr. Looks like they'll not unlock it In any case if they dont we will count with kexec as soon as ics kernell source become availiable. And, since its not an official bl unlock and can be undone we'll not touch warranty, as usually happens to htc n others.
Just thinking loud.

Expecially now that there is a new ceo with a lot of new member in the executive team. (and the new ceo is from google so it should know that the power of android is it personalizzation)

Unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty, but its not the only thing that does. Rooting voids it too, and you have to root to Kexec.

Motorola unlocking all bootloaders near future???

http://modmymobile.com/forums/459-a...torola-agrees-unlocked-bootloaders-catch.html
So motorola has agreed to unlock the bootloaders on seemingly all their phones? Only catch is its up to the carrier to decide? Lets just hope AT&T won't be bastards on this issue!
Edit: Could a mod please move this to atrix general I put this in the wrong area.
So that's like what... a stalemate?
Ok... so now we get to wait another 6 months before they actually do..... Motorola lies too much to the point where its hard to believe them.

Time and time again people have pleaded with motorola about this issue. Motorola does not listen to it's customer's; it listen's to it's carrier's. It's up to a dev to get this thing unlocked. Period.

Well, a few customers would be very happy. Unfortunately, the vast majority of customers have no idea what a custom ROM is, or care about even rooting their phone. Carriers like Verizon have much to gain by taking steps to insure that most of their phones in the field remain stock. I'd imagine that KurioHonoo hit it square on the head. Moto believes it more important to remain a favorite son of the carrires, rather than take a step that would please a small percentage of customers at the risk of doing anything to weaken their favored carrier status.
The fact that Moto manufactures much of the cell infrastructure equipment for the carriers probably reinforces this attitude.

I sent this in to Droid life and tweeted it to Android Police and what not. Come on guys, stop the pitty party and lets show Motorola how big that actual def community is! We're not just a small percentage, I know that for a fact. At least around here, where I live, everyone knows or at least knows the basic idea of what rooting and such is, and they are aware that HTC is supportive and Motorola is currently not.
But let's retweet this link to Motorola, and post on that forum. Let's show them how big we really are!

If anyone is interested I wrote up this complaint (http://db.tt/Z441y4yG) concerning Verizon's policy of locked bootloaders and how it violates the LTE license. I sent it to the FCC and NY senators, one of whom is looking into the matter. The complaint is written like a legal brief and has garnered the attention of at least senator. Feel free to use it and send it to FCC and your senators.

Sad News For the P769

So i decided to ask LG if we actually do have an unlocked BootLoader and if we did how were we supposed to unlock it and this is what they responded me with....
Dear Carlos,
Thank you for contacting LG Electronics.
Unfortunately in USA models boot loader cannot be unlocked as a carrier request. USA models, even though they look similar to the international modes, have carrier specifications on their software. Due to their request that’s why we are not able to unlock it.
Once again thank you for contacting LG. In case you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at your convenience. Have a wonderful day.

That's true, kuma.. Personally I read for a couple of weeks, over and over all that was needed and how to recover from mistakes.. It helped so much reading all the posts, what works, what doesn't. I'm very greatful to everyone that went before, and the crazy devs for pushing the envelope and figuring things out.
The current unlocking process may be complicated, but it works, if you take time to read(and read again).
Sent from my LG-P769 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I want to unlock SO BADLY but I get stuck after I flash, I don't know what to do ahaha xD
The current unlock method for TMO P769 is so convoluted and it seems rather risky... Risky and destructive enough, I will probably not bother. How likely do you think a decent/proper unlock method will be found before the end of the year? I really dislike the stock UI and limited theming options/etc, came from PACMan on my previous phone and this is rather disappointing for a phone with such solid hardware.
Its looking pretty unlikely and I think I might just sell this phone and go back to Samsung where they tell the carrier where to shove it when they ask for a locked bootloader. Shame on LG for complying with this... Sure, they aren't Apple or Samsung but I think they could have pulled it off. At the very least they could have snuck some hidden method like HTC with the wire trick for S-OFF into the US version.
