Ics update help - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Here in California we dny have the update, so i frequently check for updates, which i have to wait 24 hours for the next. If i move the date on my phone ahead, will i be able to still update. And if i move the date up to when the update is out, will i be able to update early?
I'm a noob, so please understand... xD

Say samsung scheldules the release for may 30th. If i move my date up to the 30th, will it work?
I'm a noob, so please understand... xD

I'm a noob, so please understand... xD

updates dont work that way.....and WHY the F would you want AT&T's tainted firmware?
PS. there is this thing called an EDIT button....you should probably figure that one out so that you dont have whole threads of you talking to yourself

You will probably hear about it here or on a tech blog first when its released. You can clear your time if you clear the update cache under settings>apps.

yeah, you definitely wont be able to trick the servers into thinking its the 30th....since someone has to put the updates out on the servers for you to get them...
it will probably be a KIES update anyway, since AT&T and Samsung arent so hot with the OTAs (see all failed captivates, etc)

I feel so sorry for you Californian that don't have the update yet, we here in the East coast, especially in MA had it last month. Don't know why there's such a big delay gap .
But just hang tight, it will eventually, officially release, just a matter of time.
You will be thrill with the new ICS update, it's so awesome, best ever made.
After updating, my SGS2 now having Exynos quad-core CPU, imaging that, and the internal storage pumped up to 32GB. Man, I'm so glad I bought the S2.
Rumors have said that Sammy currently working on the plan that after the update, the SGS2 will become 4.7" too. Maybe it's the reason why the West coast doesn't have yet.
Oh, wait, did I mention that it will have ceramic case after updating too?
I can't wait.
Love it.

They haven't released anything yet, its just announced. Comming in the next few weeks... And for the nexus s on 2.3, since we are still on 2.2 officially it may be just a bit before we see anything useful to us. Hopefully once the source hits the devs can work it into our gb roms but with the current video driver situation on gb I am scepticlly optimistic.
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
On the contrary - I think that this release will definitely make its way into CM, which in turn will hit the GTablet (since it's officially supported and making great progress with it.)
Right now the only thing the XOOM/other HC tablets have that I've been wanting in the GTab is this - and once I have it, I won't care if we get HC at all.
Just be patient and have some faith, this is highly likely and I'm sure the devs are already setting their sights on it.
Isn't the big issue the fact that we need Gingerbread drivers from Nvidia/Viewsonic? Am I wrong, or did I read that the Gingerbread ROMs are actually running on Froyo device drivers?

I love when they simulate video chat with obvious posed stills. Why not just give a realistic representation of how actual video chat on a phone will look (and believe me, it's not gonna be as crisp and clear as that). And to make it even more realistic, the dude in the smaller box should be masturbating.

Oh I don't know about that -- I find a smiling lady irresistible.
I think we may need to stay focused.
I think Google is in the habit of using employees involved in projects in their photos like that. I would assume since CM7 is officially supported on GTab, and that they will roll in to whatever is latest on AOSP, that this will be available on GTab, the question is how well will it work if NVidia drivers are ignored.

I think that's a great start, I doubt it'll be very long til we have something solid enough to use daily. I mean with rooted phones we're always dealing with something right? lol Either way that looks awesome to see it on an AT&T GSII.
Im excited to see 4.0 ported to our phones. This is one of the biggest jumps in Android history (namely because 3.0 wasnt for phones) and this is going to be a nice change. I like the stock look and colors a lot.

I am absolutely into it. Assuming they even come CLOSE to the reported specs, I am already a customer. Now I just gotta convince my fiancee to let me buy one off contract < a month before our wedding!
i was expecting a near edge less frame, mostly glass on the top. maybe a silver band around it, then a black cover on the back with no expandable memory and a non removable battery, oh wait...
but yeah, frameless glass would of been nice. more squarish too. round/oval looking phones are nasty IMO, on of the reasons why i didn't get the skyrocket.
As many 'concept' designs as I've seen out there, I would take this with a grain of salt as well. My understanding (based on other fact-less rumors) is screen will fill in most of the frame without 'dead space' like you see in that image.
My first Samsung ever was the infuse and i loved it. then i got the SGSII and i was blown away. made my mother buy a Samsung fridge too! But anyways, i have learned that samsung doesnt fool around. I am really expecting a good looking device. either way i will eventually give in and buy it lol.
I have to get myself a Nokia too.
Let me know when the AT&T pictures are released.
I'm with chris, at&t does have a nasty habit of making their phones horrendous from the international version. Why they can't just leave the designs I do not know!

+1 for removal of that center button.... makes the phone look super retarded imho... My mum-in-law has the int'l version, and each time I use it I get a bit jumpy cause I think I'll press the button too hard and damage the phone.
I dont think this is it....for example take a close look at III, last I is much closer to second than first and second are + third I seems little higher...second fact is that words fast vivid slim were already used by samsung for SGSII: http://bmobile.co.tt/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/ad_galaxys2.jpg
and the third fact....it looks weird at least to me....maybe only a strange render (if that happens to be real)
Never mind.

This is strange. And very interesting. Thanks for the info. If you notice anything different do report it as you seem to be the only one on 4.0.4. I'm not sure why ATT is updating this phone when the Skyrocket is better in their eyes and they don't even sell this phone anymore...

Could very well be... I assume Samsung wants to seem like they care for the customers.
SAM did say in their announcement that they "had known about this issue for some time"...this could be an update they had in the pipeline and didnt release because of an upcoming JB release.
Is there anybody else that can try to see if the update is available to them?
Got the update. Menus are a bit different and SW Ver is now 5 instead of 4. Guess that means the radio firmware was upgraded too. Neat.
Here are the updated release notes for this build: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00047325&fm_seq=51324
Wonder if this has NFC enabled (doubt it) or if it will be easier to use the NFC enabler from the ported section since the 4.0.3 version wasn't working. Fiancee wants to tension as close to stick add possible, but wants NFC to beam stuff, lol

Some of those changes/fixes we have. Some of them we don't. The ones we don't have would be very nice to get, the sooner the better. Ya know, things like keyboard auto-correction. Doh. How the f*** did they miss that.
Anyways wrong section aside, I don't see why all the bashing. 4.1.2 will come to the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 so why hate?

Some of those changes/fixes we have. Some of them we don't. The ones we don't have would be very nice to get, the sooner the better. Ya know, things like keyboard auto-correction. Doh. How the f*** did they miss that.

Because people are asking ETAs which aren't allowed and also it's Verizon which is known for getting updates last every time (G-Nex still doesn't have 4.1? i think, GS3 just got 4.1) and many other phones that updates are still not out.

You happen to be a Fletch fan?
G-Nex did get 4.1 but update since have been none. I have seen it around the internet, but still cant see why google cant just "auto update" the thing

CleanRom is based off 4.1.2. I'm on 3.5, just haven't gotten around to updating to the latest release.

+1 for Cleanrom.
I went through the whole Galaxy Nexus experience with Verizon. Took me 3 months to realize we would never get timely updates from them, so went custom and from then on always had the latest releases within a couple of days of Google releasing them.
This phone (Note 2) will never get timely updates from Verizon either - too much alteration and long test process. If you want the latest as soon as you can then a custom ROM is the closest you'll get.
You won't be seeing OS updates as quick from zip rom devs either.
I get that Verizon slows down Galaxy Nexus updates, but they are by far the most frequent and quickest of all Verizon devices.

It seems like Motorola updates are coming through faster (Razr M, Razr Maxx) got updates not too long after they came out.

Still not as fast or as frequent as a Galaxy Nexus.
